Karina Smirnoff Injured

I just read a report by ET online talking about an injury to Karina Smirnoff:

Amid reports that “Dancing With The Stars” pro dancer Karina Smirnoff has suffered an injury requiring surgery, ET has the details behind Karina’s condition.

A representative for ABC tells ET:
“[Karina] has had minor surgery, but is doing well and expected to recover in time to begin training for the next season of ‘DWTS.’”

Karina will be back in full swing on the new season of “DWTS,” airing March 9 at 8 p.m. on ABC.

I wonder what the injury and surgery could be for Karina. Sounds like the wrong way to start a marriage with Maks. Maybe she just accidentally tripped and fell. Although, I seem to vaguely remember past rumors about plastic surgery. Maybe this is just more work done to her face or something.

Either way, I’m really glad that Karina will be back in time for Dancing with the Stars 2009.

      I'm not sure I'd define this post as reckless speculation. It was definitely speculation, but at least it was properly posed as speculation. Honestly, I only posted it, because there have been so many injuries to dancers on Dancing with the Stars that I wanted to record yet another injury.

      As far as the marriage comment, it seems more than fair to me. Crazy things happen all the time when 2 people get engaged. When my wife and I got engaged she randomly lost her hearing in one ear. Just seemed funny to me that Karina and Maks experienced their own type challenge.

      Thanks for pointing out the other updates. I'm a fan, but I haven't seen all the different tour videos on the net. There are just too many of them for me to see them all. Want to help me out and post things you find?

      Luckily, I have a lot of readers like yourself who do a good job correcting me and pointing me to new sources that I might have missed.

      Of course, the most important part of this blog post is that Karina will be back for season 8 of Dancing with the Stars. I'm projecting her to be Lawrence Taylor's partner. How about you?

      John, I can't believe the above reckless speculation. Plastic surgery??? Wrong way to start a marriage? Please.. they haven't even set a date yet. Karina will be long healed by then.

      Karina had a torn meniscus cartilage in her knee and underwent surgery.

      Did you miss the tour videos of Karina wearing a knee brace in several DWTS tour cities? Did you not see the BHB bus tour updates? (You must check them out; Derek does a killer French Godfather bit and is always enjoyable to watch and hear.)

      ET notwithstanding, there have been plenty of media reports with better details of Karina's knee surgery. You need better sources!
