Dancing with the Stars 2009 Results Show Music

Tonight was a rough night on Dancing with the Stars. I told one fan of the show that tonight was a throwback night when you looked at the special musical guests performing on the show. Take a look at tonight’s music:

Julianne Hough, Derek Hough, Chelsie Hightower, Lacey Schwimmer, and Artem Chigvintsev danced to Kevin Rudolf’s song “Let It Rock” Kevin Rudolf - NOW 30 - Let It Rock

Cheryl Burke, Dmitry Chaplin, Tony Dovolani, and Kym Johnson danced to Boyz II Men performing the songs “Get Ready” Sublime - Sublime - Get Ready/”End of the Road” Boyz II Men - Boyz II Men: Legacy - The Greatest Hits Collection - End of the Road

Anyone have information on what Boyz II Men has been doing all this time? I haven’t seen them around for quite a while. I still assert that dancing takes every song to a whole new level.

Shawn Johnson Makes Big Money on Dancing with the Stars

The following was dug up by Reality TV Magazine when they found some court documents that details what Shawn Johnson was being paid to be on Dancing with the Stars. My commentary will follow:

According to the contract filed in court between Johnson and BBC Worldwide Productions, which produces the show, Shawn Johnson is being paid a guarantee of $125,000 to do the show, Access Hollywood has reported. The guarantee covers training, the first two weeks of Dancing With The Stars and her appearance at the finale.

Shawn Johnson will receive $10,000 for getting through the third and fourth weeks of Dancing With The Stars.

For weeks 5, 6 and 7, the gymnast will take home $20,000 a week. She’ll earn $30,000 for weeks 8 and 9, and if she makes it to weeks 10 and 11, Shawn Johnson will earn $50,000 a week, for a grand total of $365,000.

If Dancing With The Stars chooses to produce specials of the show she can earn $30,000 for each one made.

The money doesn’t end there either. Future Dancing With The Stars programming which would complement her Dancing With The Stars run would earn Shawn Johnson $10,000 per show, and $5,000 for each in studio interview promoting the possible new official programming tied into the show. She is not paid, however, to do publicity for the show.
Source

Ok, so we all knew that Dancing with the Stars was paying a reasonably large amount of money for the stars to participate. It’s just fun to see the actual numbers. Seems like a reasonable sum to me considering she’s going out of her comfort zone and dancing in front of 30 million people LIVE each week. I’m really happy for her and I’m glad that she’s getting paid. I’m sure she’s doing alright for herself, but being a gymnast isn’t the most lucrative job in the world I’m sure. Granted, she is probably the highest earning gymnast in America. Regardless I’m cool with the amount. Doesn’t sound too outrageous to me.

What would be interesting is to know how much Woz and Mark Cuban got paid/are getting paid. They are both billionaires and so $365,000 (which they’ll get much less) is just more than a rounding error for them. Hopefully they did something nice and gave it to charity.

I bet Melissa must be really happy. I wonder how much she’s getting paid to step in at the last minute and do this. Enough for her to quit her job. I’m actually glad she’s getting paid after Jason Mesnick screwed her over. There’s always a silver lining.

Woz to Walk Karina Smirnoff Down the Aisle

Seriously? Something seems wrong here. Why would Karina have Woz walk her down the aisle? Sure, invite Woz to the wedding. That’s cool. However, asking Woz to walk you down the aisle sure looks like a young russian girl trying to get in the pocket of a rich nerd.

Here’s the quote from the report:

“She said I could walk her down the aisle, and it touched my heart,” Wozniak told The Insider on Thursday.

More power to you Woz. You are dancing to your own beat and can do what you want with your life. This just doesn’t sound and feel right. Maybe Karina just has no friends and family that REALLY care about her and the Woz really does care about people in general. Would people really be surprised if this was the case?

Although Karina is having trouble setting a date since she has “so many family members”:

“We started talking about it and figuring out when and where we’re going to have it,” Smirnoff told Us last month. “But there’s so many family members that have a say that we got to try to make sure that everyone will be happy. But we think it will be sometime before the end of this year. So, not so long.”

Maybe Karina was just drunk and said it off hand. Who knows. Either way, it’s odd that she asked him to walk her down the aisle.

Ballas Hough Band and Julianne Hough at Grove

Many people already know that Mark Ballas, Derek Hough and Julianne Hough all have record deals. So, some might argue that they are each stars in their own right. I’d say that Julianne Hough is a star in her own right and Mark and Derek are well on their way to becoming stars.

Either way, fans of the 3 will really enjoy the following videos of the Ballas Hough Band performing at the Grove after the Dancing with the Stars taping. I’m told that they’ll be performing each Tuesday that the Grove. The Grove is a pretty cool place right next to where they tape Dancing with the Stars and you’re very likely to see other stars and professionals from Dancing with the Stars if you attend.

Check out the Ballas Hough Band performing Live at the Grove:

Well, I’m not really sure if Carrie Ann loves kids or not, but she’s sure doing a bunch of different kids things. Check out these pictures of Carrie Ann Inaba to see what I mean.

Dancing with the Las Vegas Stars

I just recently had someone point out an interesting dance competition that’s going on in Las Vegas. They’re calling it “Dancing with the Las Vegas Stars.” The event is all about raising money for charity. The mayor of Las Vegas, Oscar Goodman is participating along with a number of other Las Vegas celebrities.

Even cooler than the celebrities that will be dancing is the list of celebrity judges that are participating. Looks like it could be a really entertaining night. I just hope that in between the star dances they do some professional dancing as well.

If you’re in Las Vegas, you can Buy Tickets on Ticketmaster. Dancing with the LV Stars will be on Sunday April 19, 2009 at 2 PM at the Palms Casino Resort.

Here’s a list of the stars that are dancing:
Oscar Goodman – Mayor City of Las Vegas
Chet Buchanan – Chet Buchanan and the Morning Zoo
Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini – World Champion Boxer
Chris Phillips – Singer/Headliner Zowie Bowie
Brent Barrett – Actor/Singer

Other stars participating in the event are: Louie Anderson, Robin Leach, Frank Marino, Bryan Scofield, Tina Walsh, Tiffany Comstock.

The proceeds from the event go to the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen (Cancer), The Caring Place, Candlelighters, The leukemia and Lymphoma Society. You can vote for your favorite Las Vegas celebrity and support each of these great organizations at the same time.

Kind of a cool twist on the show we all love so much. I really hope that it does well and raises a lot of money for some really quality organizations.

Vote for Your Favorite Dancing with the Stars Celebrity

Now that we’ve had a chance to see each of the celebrities on Dancing with the Stars dance twice, it’s time to vote on who you think is going to win Dancing with the Stars season 8. You can vote for only one celebrity from Dancing with the Stars in this poll. I’ll look at doing a future Dancing with the Stars vote where you can vote for the top 3 and another one where you can vote for all of your favorite Dancing with the Stars celebrities.
