Lil’ Kim and Derek Hough on DWTS

Lil’ Kim is paired with Derek Hough on Dancing with the Stars 8. I vote this the most odd couple of the group. The pretty boy Derek with the rapper girl Lil’ Kim. I could be wrong, but I’m guessing there’s not that many crossover fans between rap and ballroom dancing. Maybe Lil’ Kim will be able to cross the divide, but I think this is an uphill battle for her.
The good news for Lil’ Kim is that she has some rhythm and what I think is natural dance skill. I think she’s going to be able to hit stuff hard when she needs to and create smooth lines as well. Derek seems to be the master at teaching his partner how to look good. This should really benefit Lil’ Kim who I’m predicting will pick it up really quickly. I do wonder though, if Lil’ Kim will really be a performer on stage. I have a feeling she might be a great dancer technically, but will be so focused on the steps that she will lose valuable points from the judges when it comes to performance quality.
Derek is really becoming a star in his own right. I don’t think he’s as big and popular as his sister (oh I do love sibling rivalry), but he’s definitely got a huge fan following. Being the front man for Ballas Hough band has also been creating a really loyal fan following. I’m actually very familiar with this fan following and they are true fanatics when it comes to Derek. That means a lot of votes for Derek and Lil’ Kim because of Derek.
Despite Derek’s strong fan base and Lil’ Kim’s technical dancing, I expect Derek and Lil’ Kim to be stuck just outside the top 3. A good showing that they’ll both be proud of in the end. I will predict that Lil’ Kim and Derek will be dancing to the most eclectic music yet to grace the DWTS stage.
