Dancing with the Stars Season 9 Cast Rumor – Greg Louganis
This rumor is, so far, only Twitter-based. I got nothing else on it – yet. 🙂
Very interesting, IMO. I think I would be all for this one. Give him to Karina, I think.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)
I’d be interested to see good old Greg. I was such a fan back in the day. Him hitting his head and then killing his last dive for Gold is definitely in my top 10 olympic moments of all time.
I would LOVE to see Greg Louganis on DWTS!! Hope it’s not just a rumor. 🙂
interesting that after hiding from the limelight for more than a decade greg should want to be out in the public eye again maybe lance bass inspired him it was safe to come out and play would love to her what he’s been up to and see if his olympics talents can take him to the top like the other olympians winners just confirm that dance is a very athletic sport
in his wikipidia page say that he used to be a dancer , os not really fair, and there is the all HVI thing , some of the pro may not like ,who knows
is phillipe from this century his hiv status how ignorany can you get beside many of the stars have had daancing backgroundsbut he never was a pro dancer
A. Wiki is not a reliable source – anyone can add or remove content from those pages
B. Since when is previous dance experience an issue on this show? Melissa is only the most recent in a long list of examples of someone who had dance experience.
C. The only thing I’m going to say about your other comment is that perhaps some self-education is in order – and I say that not the least bit sarcastically.
no people ,i dont have a problem , i just say that maybe someone may have a problem ,
and about the dance thing , i dont think is fair , i never like melissa ,just my opinian
your are right ,we cant trust wiki ,there is a lot of crap there ,but if he had dance expirience was a big wild ago ,i cant compare him with melissa who is very young
i’m a big olympic fan ,so i hope he is on the show
again about the hvi thing ,i’m not stupid , and i dont have any problem with that ,my mom has a cousin who has hvi , i was just sayingthat may some people on the show may dont like (we never know) ,it is like what some church people are soing with Adam from idol in ther american idol tour just becouse he is open gay
Yes… Yes…. Greg Louganis would be FANTASTIC!!!
Greg Louganis was a role model back then and continues to be an excellent role model. I think DWTS would be a great experience for him an a great way for us to get to see him in the spotlight again.
[…] Greg Louganis […]
If you read his autobiography, Breaking the Surface 1995), you’ll find that Greg did have formal dance training when he was very young (and he was quite good). Then he began diving lessons and gave up the dancing, lucky for us divers.
If he ends up on DWTS I really think he will win it. I don’t know which female pro would look best with him, though?? Edyta? Karina? Lacey?
The case of season 9 will be Monday morning, I can hardly wait…
How tall is Greg Louganis? Kym Johnson is pretty tall – she has danced a lot with Derek on tour and based on that I would put her at 5’9″ or thereabouts. Karina and Chelsie seems fairly short. They seem to have pegged Lacey with the “different” guys. Steve O? Nuff said. Lance – his kinda wacky personality fit in with Lacey’s ballroom rebel image. Greg seems like he might be too normal for her. 😉 I’m sure Anna Demidova is too tall for him. Anna T might be back – no clue how tall she is.
I can’t wait to find out!! John’s going to post as soon as he hears on Monday, so if you’ll be at work and can’t watch GMA, check here!!
It bothers me very much that they keep getting participants with so much dance experience. The most enjoyable part of the show is to watch someone like Ty Murray improve so much. I leave the room when the people that come out already being polished dancers.
