Dancing with the Stars 9 – Week 1 Results Show

Lots of good stuff in this episode!  I still love the Lion King number, but that may be because that’s one of the shows I’ve not seen in it’s entirety.

I thought the Adam Carolla bit about the Men’s Pep Talk was just hilarious. Very well done by all. :-)

The Patrick Swayze Tribute was beautifully done, however, I doubt I’ll get any argument when I say there is NO replacing the original. Farewell Patrick.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

The Paparazzi Strike Again! DWTS 9 Cast

PopTV.com has several videos of the cast of DWTS. My hypocrisy rears it’s ugly head. :-) I have a mild crush on Pap Henry because he seems to be a kind, teddy bear Pap. There are others on this site that I won’t post because they seem rather…mean. But Henry is cool and treated all the celebs and pros very well last season. If you want to see the other vids (gluttons for punishment :-) ) go to PopTV.

Something is a little funky with this video – at least when I watched it.  But it has Louie Vito who is just as cute as a bug. Or a Hobbit. :-)

DWTS Result Show Week 1 – The Power of the Pen

A word to all viewers in the middle Tennessee area – or at least those of you who get DWTS on WKRN Channel 2. YOU WILL NOT BE SEEING the first half of the results show tonight because News 2 is broadcasting the Titans on 2 with Jeff Fisher. WTF, you might be saying? Yes, that is what I just said to a very nice lady who answered the phone at WKRN. She was sympathetic, but she says they are under contract with Jeff Fisher and they can’t avoid airing it. Apparently they can’t air it later at night because of said contract, because I asked. She also told me that DWTS has to give permission to re-air a show in its entirety later in the evening. Whether News 2 hasn’t asked, or DWTS refused, I have no idea. That’s Messed UP – those who watch News 2 will get the irony.

I am writing this blog to be helpful to other viewers, but also to put the utter and complete stupidity of this plan out there on the net. The only way to change things is to get pissed off and loud about it (ask Tom Delay). I often do this with regards to politics – I’m rather surprised that I have to for DWTS. Maybe Tom Delay was an omen. The nice lady on the phone put most of the blame on DWTS, of course, for not giving them a schedule or scheduling one thing and then changing – but ya know, that’s the freakin’ network and DWTS got 17.8 million viewers on Monday night. What the hell is wrong with a local station that locks themselves into local programming contracts that can affect a major network show? What business model said that was a good idea?

Heh – she’s already gotten quite a few calls. She told me she’s expecting quite the deluge at 7 pm. NO DOUBT. So…someone tweet me when they call Derek and Joanna, and Kelly and Louie safe, because odds are good I won’t get to see it, unless they make both couples sweat.

Also – I seriously doubt that WKRN is the only ABC affiliate that has a silly little plan like this one, so all of you with an NFL Team in your town and a local show where the coach talks about last weekend’s game better check your local listings. And then join me crying in my beer.

Week 1: THE GOOD, THE BAD, and THE INCREDIBLY HOT!

Holy Smokes!  I was totally blown away by celebs that I thought wouldn’t last very long…Kelly Osbourne!  Where did she come from!  I was so touched by her performance and she looked beautiful!  Aaron Carter…what!  I knew he had rhythm but I think it’s a combination of him not be a little kid anymore and taking on such a sexy dance!  Louie Vito…those eyes!  He has great potential and he and Chelsie are adorable together!  I never thought Macy Gray was going to be funny!  And Heidi…Props to your man Derek and Joanna!  HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!  Even Debi Mazar was a surprise!  Her arms killed me the entire night but her and Maks together could be a force to reckon with!

THE GOOD
I have to go with Kelly and Louis’ first dance!  It was so precious and the most technically correct dance!  Her foot work was surprising remarkable and I couldn’t help smile throughout the entire performance because she was so elegant!

THE BAD
I have no problem putting Tom Delay here!  I really hate that Cheryl goes from Gilles to Tom!  Tom has a great heart and wants to do well, you can see that.  But, he just doesn’t have any stamina, rhythm, strength, or musicality.

THE INCREDIBLY HOT!
For me, this spot was a toss up between Joanna and Aaron because they both showed sexiness and nailed the hip action that the Latin dances required of them!  However, I am going to go with Derek and Joanna because she was so fluid and completely connected with the audience the whole time!  Her hips were on fire, her lines were incredible, her footwork was there, and you could tell she had a lot of fun!

The All-Female Pro Dance – Week 1 of DWTS Season 9

My mom always said, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. :-) Sometimes I live by that and sometimes…I don’t. I’m sorry, but I found the ladies Pro Dance underwhelming. The men seemed to have more actual dance moves and less…I dunno, leg lifts or something. I can’t explain, really, why it felt meh to me. And no John, I don’t think it’s because there were no boys for me to look at. :-) The men were just more energetic or something. Although, I do find Kym’s part dazzling – probably because of the bright smile, blond hair and very long legs.

If anyone wants to see the Foxtrot Relay or Derek/Joanna’s Salsa, they’re at PureDerekHough.
