DWTS Week 3 Results Show Music and Discusssion Thread
I’ve decided that I’d start a thread each week for the results show. In the post I’ll include the special guest performance music and it will also serve as a place for people to discuss the DWTS results show. Tonight, there should be plenty to talk about after that elimination. Although, if you read this blog regularly it actually wasn’t too much of a surprise.
Now on to the music:
Queen Latifah performed “Fast Car”
with Cheryl Burke and Maksim Chmerkovskiy dancing. Then, Queen Latifah performed “Ease on Down the Road” with the Queen Latifah’s dancers.
JabbaWockeez also performed, but I haven’t figured out the music yet. Please help us out in the comments if you know.

the jabbas danced to ”singing in the rain”
, i don’t know the other song
Glad to see Debi and Tom go. I know they were planning two double eliminations in the middle of the season, but I wonder if they will cut that down to one now with Tom leaving early…Gotta say, I wasn’t too happy to see Sabrina win the design a dance. I always thought she was sort of over rated. It would be funny if Mark was chosen to be her partner, though, since their exes… I really liked it better when we could choose which pros we wanted to see dance. But, I’m sure it will be great regardless.
I’m glad to see Tom go, but was expecting Michael to go and would have rather seen him go rather than Debbi.
Blake here’s what’s going on in terms of the eliminations:
Dance off’s will happen on weeks 5, 6 and 7.
“In week 5 6 n 7 the bottom 2 n 3 couples will have to dance their ‘dance off’ routine in hopes to survive the axe.The bottom couple is axed”
I am also sorry to see Sabrina elected. I wanted a more powerful performer for the Paso. Maybe she’ll prove me wrong. I feel the pro dances doing the design a dance is more better. Can you see a celebrity doing Julianne’s part from last season?
Blake you can choose the pro… Mark won’t necessarily be dancing with her. It’s who ever gets chosen.
I know you can choose the pro, I meant that I would rather see two pros dancing instead of one of the previous stars.
Blake,
I think it’s an interesting twist to bring back a past star. However, there’s no doubt I’d rather see a pro dance with pro instead of a pro with a past star. I think they should also let us choose from all the pros from all seasons. Now that would be cool.
not a sabrina fan but the girl is almost a pro, after dwts she took a lot of dances classes, she will be better than she was on the show.
Phillipe, how is she almost a pro? has she competed in Ballroom? NO! How is taking a lot of dance classes make you a pro? It doesn’t. If that was the case I’d be on the show. I’ve been taking classes and dancing for the last 6 years in both Swing and ballroom.
Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of her’s, I think she got kicked off way to early. However, taking a bunch of classes does not make you a pro ballroom dancer.
Someone to dance with Sabrina? Well, duh -Derek of course.
I figured out something last night – regardless of who goes home, I’m finding the results shows WAY more entertaining than the performance shows this season – and I”m sorry, that’s just WRONG on so many levels. I think I also figured out why – because we generally hear and see a lot more from the celebs and their partners. I like the bits from rehearsal, and I like the confessionals and I like the bits where all celebs have bad habits and so on. I’m really hoping that once the field gets narrowed a bit, the performance shows will improve. Maybe when they dance longer than they are now – too many dancers, too many short dances.
I also found out that the reason that they screwed up Derek/Joanna’s and Tom/Cheryl’s voting numbers is because Joanna was originally supposed to go second to last and they moved her up to second to accomodate Tom’s feet. Not cool at all. Throws everyone off kilter. Although I don’t think Aaron and Joanna were in the bottom four any more than I believe Louie was in the bottom three the week before. Manipulation – but thanks for the motivation of Derek’s fanbase, producers.
Is it a coincidence that the two pros who went to Atlantic city last Saturday to work a VIP event were “in jeopardy”?
Katrina, of course she is not almost like a pro, but she is the closest to a pro that we can get(if you know what i mean), not a fan of her at all, i don’t like ringers(the ones if a lot of dance training)
Phillipe, have you danced at all? If you have then you’d understand that unless you have ballroom training it’s not going to help you a whole lot. Here are a couple of reasons:
~ Dance training ingrains habits in you like you would not believe. I have still have bad habits from my Modern/Jazz training that my ballroom teacher would like to beat out of me. Therefore even if they do have dance training, they may have even more bad habits than somebody without dance training. Yes they understand movements, how to look, and be able to pick up choreography but it doesn’t give them any more of advantage (at least in my mind). Look at Melissa from last season. Len got on her case all season about her being basically in relevĂ©, which is not good for the ballroom world. Tony couldn’t her to break that habit.
~ Now maybe this is my personal experience but I actually find someone like Aaron Carter at more of an advantage because they have musicality. When I first learned Foxtrot, I had absolutely no training in the steps whatsoever. I knew the basic count and what it should look like but I have never danced it. So for the first time, my ballroom instructor (we had yet to move to Smooth dances) pulled me out on the floor for a Foxtrot and I learned right on the floor. I more than likely picked it up because I’ve had musical training since I was very young. I have a very easy time picking up rhythms and counting beats. So someone who has had musical training is probably more available to pick up on that rhythm. Rhythm is probably one of the most important things.
Katrina, i stop reading what you wrote in the first line, what i was trying to say is.
look what Blake posted:
”I know you can choose the pro, I meant that I would rather see two pros dancing instead of one of the previous stars.”
so what i meant was from the people that we could vote for the design dance Sabrina is closest to a pro that we can get.(again, she is not pro ,i’m not stupid), but even if i don’t like her she is a great dancer,if you see videos of her on the tour dancing with the pros in the group dances is hard to say that she is not a pro(and again she is not a pro)
And i don’t like ringers(personal opnian).
what the big deal about that,i don’t get why you are so mad about this, sorry if i’m not a ballroom dancer , let just stop this please.
please katrina, dial it back a notch… or two. whether i agree or disagree, your tone is very offputting. show a little respect. we are all here because we are serious aficionados even if our performance criteria are different.
for the record, corky and shirley ballas encouraged sabrina to continue her training and she could be competing at the professional level within a year. they didn’t say winning, but competing.
was that schmooze? maybe, but it was a pretty strong endorsement. her numbers, esp the cha cha, rhumba and paso doble are among the best ever performed on DWTS.
AND, at my age, i know a thing or two about dance myself.
Heidi I agree about the performance show. I’m just bored this season and I think it is because the dances are so short. I had to work Monday and Tuesday nights and it didn’t even bother me really. I didn’t get to vote and I was ok with that…I didn’t watch until Wed. morning actually. I hope that you are right about it getting better as we get rid of people.
Wow there are some strong opinions on Sabrina being chosen. I didn’t watch that season but I have seen her dance (thanks to ‘the good, the bad, and the incredibly hot’). I was hoping for Shawn or Giles but I’ll be excited to see Sabrina as well. I hope she has taken some classes and has improved and will do a wonderful job.
Ok, children back to your seats, the teacher is back. Just kidding.
Just remember that none of this is personal. We’re just sharing our own opinions on the show. Give people the benefit of the doubt and don’t make it personal. That said, I think it’s really healthy and interesting for people to share disparate views about something. This whole show would be boring if everyone loved Donny. Oh wait, maybe that’s why it’s boring this season *rim shot*
Ok, I’m not completely bored by this season. I still love watching the dancing. It’s just the stars are kind of ho hum this season. I’m not sure that are familiarity with all the pro dancers is that healthy for the show either. It might help with the ratings since fans of that pro dancer will watch, but we kind of know what to expect from many of the pros and that’s not as interesting as something a new dancer might bring.
Of course, since it’s all about structured ballroom then maybe new pros wouldn’t be that much better. I’d like to see what Lacey would come up with if she could bend the rules. Not to mention a number of other pros.
Ok, that’s my take. As you were…
See John, I’m the opposite. I would be very annoyed and very upset if Lacey bends the rules (again). I didn’t want her on the show in the first place (but that’s a personal reason). I wouldn’t mind new pros but as long as their pros. Like Yulia Zagoruychenko, or for Andrea Hale, Brian Fortuna, Charlotte Jorgensen, Elena Grinenko, Fabian Sanchez, Nick Kosovich, or Jesse De Soto to come back to the show. I miss their dancing. Most of them were only on for one or two seasons and we didn’t really get to see their potential with celebs
Katrina,
I think I represent more of America;-) I mostly say that, because I think that most of the millions of viewers of the show know little to nothing of the rules around ballroom dancing. I actually think I have an above average knowledge of ballroom dancing and that’s not saying all that much for the rest of America.
What I wouldn’t mind is a mix of the two as well. Ie. one week they are allowed to bend the rules while incorporating standard steps. Then, the next week they have to follow the rules strictly. However, if they do it, they should have some of the judges do a piece on which things they are allowed to do and which they aren’t allowed to do.
I’m not saying the rules (as some of those rules are rather stupid in my opinion. I also don’t know most of them either). I’m saying don’t have dances that aren’t in the ballroom world or aren’t even competed as dances (IE: Texas Two Step). What I meant about breaking rules, is like Lacey’s barefoot dance with Lance. Sorry but that’s not cool in my book until your freedance.
What I meant about the rules in that at least Len needs to be clear on which style he’s looking for in dances like the Waltz and Tango because there are differences. What they call a Viennese waltz this season isn’t a Viennese dance at all. That was my point there.
i would like to know how we can campaign to have Samantha removed – she is pitiful. seriously, they appear to just have her on to showcase ball gowns. she has no intervieiwng skills. if i recall correctly, Tom did this without a partner in the beginning and suddenly one season she appears – i think it bogs Tom down and that backroom inane garble is offensive – like when she asked the model if she was aware that all supermodels have gotten voted off the first week – how insensitive and irrelevant. seriously, how can we let the producers know she is not appropriate – and where did she come from, anyway? i never heard of her before this show.
Monica,
You’ll enjoy this post I think: http://www.puredwts.com/2009/10/07/rant-about-samantha-harris-on-dancing-with-the-stars/
I’m not sure the best way to make it happen. Maybe just continue people’s discussion of not liking her.
OMG, John – that article summed it up exactly! i must have missed it before. i figure she has nudie photos of someone high up and that is why they don’t let her go. but it should be embarassing to Tom especially who is so good with the one-liners and off-hand remarks and quick thinking reactive comments – she, on the other hand, could take 20 minutes to think and still not come up with a witty comeback or reactive response. Tom must cringe to hear her backstage with the contestants…..
