DWTS at The Dizzy Feet Foundation Benefit – Fan Blogs!

Many thanks to Kristina and Katie for their blogs about the Dizzy Feet Foundation Benefit from the other night. I’ve only put some excerpts that pertain to DWTS here – you can find Katie’s in it’s entirety at PureSYTYCD. Kristina’s can be found at her personal blog.

Kristina –

So, I found out a few days ago that Katie got tickets for the Dizzy Feet Gala (thanks Dona and Dee), and I could barely contain myself mainly because that meant we’d be seeing Derek Hough. Also, it meant that I didn’t have to go to that other concert next week because I can write my paper on this gala.

We arrived at Hollywood & Highland with about 30 minutes to spare. So we hurried on up to the Kodak Theater. They were doing the red carpet on the 1st level so we got a peek at some of the people arriving like Glee’s Matthew Morrison (Mr. Schuester), SYTYCD Judge Mary Murphy, and DWTS’ Anna Trebunskaya and Jonathan Roberts. Sadly enough I couldn’t get my camera out quick enough before the guards made us leave. So we went into the Kodak Theater, and to our seats. Our seats were REALLY good – 4th row, balcony and on the left side. It was definitely a full house at the Kodak Theater, which by the way is ridiculously beautiful.

The show started and Derek Hough and Cheryl Burke were like the second performance. I wasn’t ready for it, no camera or anything (they were really strict about cameras, btw). They were amazing! I found out later that he and Cheryl just came up with it this morning. I never realized how great of a pair those two made till tonight. They definitely do the facials to Latin dances that I love to see. Hands down, a smoking hot performance. It’s a shame that it probably lasted a minute and half, 2 minutes to top.

As for the DWTS people, aside from Cheryl and Derek’s number, Lacey Schwimmer and Lance Bass (LOVE) came out. Anna Trebunskaya and her hubby, Jonathan Roberts did a beautiful dance to Norah Jones’ “Come Away With Me”. Cheryl came back out to dance with her partner from Season 8, Gilles Marini. AND Mark Ballas did the “Rip It Up” Jive with Kristi Yamaguchi! She is so cute. It was a breath of fresh air watching them have so much fun.

Katie –

From memorable dances from the So You think You Can Dance seasons, to the all so entertaining routines from Dancing With The Stars, a collective group of people came together today to celebrate its first Dizzy Feet Foundation gala.

My friend and I were privileged enough to see the works of some brilliant choreographers tonight!! And the seats were amazing! I think you couldn’t go wrong with sitting anywhere really. The structure of the place is done so thoughtfully that wherever you were, you would have a great view!

Derek and Cheryl from DWTS danced a great Cha Cha Cha, getting the audience excited with a great opening number, and making the audience want more. Derek and Cheryl definitely seemed like they were enjoying their night; however later we found out that the dance was put together earlier this morning. I say fantastic job for a time crunch. You wouldn’t have even thought for a second otherwise.
Lacey Schwimmer and Lance Bass also graced the dance floor tonight. Being such huge fans of both Dancing With The Stars, as well as So You Think You Can Dance, we were thrilled to bits when a Travis Wall routine was picked for the night. Jason and Jeanine’s Necklace routine had the room applauding, it was an exact replica of the performance piece shown on the show only a billion times better watching it live.

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Pros and Celebs at the Dizzy Feet Foundation Benefit

Dizzy Feet Foundation is:

Dizzy Feet Foundation was founded in 2009 by producer Nigel Lythgoe, director Adam Shankman, “Dancing with the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba and actress Katie Holmes to help underprivileged young people realize their dream of becoming professional dancers and to support, improve, and increase access to dance education in the Unites States.

They had a huge benefit tonight at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. From DWTS, Mark, Derek, Cheryl, Jonathan, Anna T., Lacey, Gilles, Kristi Y., Lance Bass and Ballas Hough Band all performed, along with many people from So You Think You Can Dance. Socialite Life has quite a few pictures, a few of which I’ve posted below. Please visit their site for more pictures – I did NOT post them all here. I’ve posted LOTS of pictures of Derek and Cheryl dancing together on PureDerekHough.

Lots more pictures at the Wall Street Journal.

The Local ABC Affiliate covered the event tonight:

Dancing with the Stars 2010, Season 10 – the Worst Idea of ALL

Of course, I say that knowing full well that it could get worse than this. 🙂 I also say this knowing this one is hopefully unlikely. I read another article that I can’t find right now that basically laughed this idea off – off the record. But you just never know. Anyway, I’m sure many of you have seen this one – let me know what you think of it. 😉 From the New York Daily News:

Levi Johnston would ‘say yes’ to joining ‘Dancing with the Stars’: ‘I could do just about anything’

Don’t worry ladies, Levi Johnston isn’t ready to bow out of the spotlight just yet.

The 19-year-old baby daddy said he would consider a stint on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.”

After a rather anti-climatic not-completely-nude pictorial in “Playgirl” magazine, the father to Bristol Palin’s son, Tripp, said he’d consider being part of the celebrity dancing series, which has featured celebs like Emmitt Smith, Joey Fatone and Toni Braxton.

While watching the Tuesday finale with “Entertainment Tonight,” Johnston said, “I think if my phone were to ring right now, I would probably say yes.”

alg_levi_johnston

ETA: Found it!! Thanks to the LA Times – love the response. 🙂

Johnston, the former fiance of Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol and father of her baby, and Jones claimed that he’s been invited to compete on both ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars” and CBS’ “Survivor.”

We made a few calls and learned that Johnston was not telling the truth. We know this is hard to believe, but our sources are reliable. This is what they said: “Officially, we never comment about casting,” said an ABC representative.

Unofficially, we say, ”Ha! Ha! Ha!'”

A CBS spokeswoman did her own checking and replied, “This is completely false. Completely.”

DWTS Fan Christmas Gifts

My family has gone raving mad already shopping for various Christmas gifts. I guess that’s part of the fun of the holiday season. If you or someone you know is a fan of Dancing with the Stars, then you might want to take a look at these Dancing with the Stars t-shirts. We’ve had a number of them bought recently and so I thought others might be interested to know about them.

Also, fans of Donny Osmond might laugh at this Donny Osmond fan club t-shirt. A number of people have bought them and I’m sure they’re wearing them proudly. I also know we have a bunch of Derek Hough fans on this site. Those fans might want to check out all the various Derek Hough t-shirts. That link has t-shirts for each of Derek Hough’s partnerships.

I’d love to hear about other ideas people have for Dancing with the Stars related gifts.

Dancing with the Stars 2010

Well, the 9th season of Dancing with the Stars is now over and so it’s time to start looking forward to season 10 of DWTS. What things would you like to see changed? What things did they do this season that you’d like to see again next season?

For me, I’d get rid of all the couples and go back to a more reasonable number. There were just too many people to keep track of for one season. I also think that most of the new dances need to go as well. The old ones were good enough. I’d also like to see them have some rules free performances, but I bet that won’t happen.

The thing I’d like to see them keep the most is all of the new group dances that they did. Not to mention the dance off where they all danced at the same time and were voted off kind of like the more traditional ballroom competitions where they all dance at the same time.

What are your thoughts on what you’d like to see on DWTS 2010?

Twittering with the Stars – DWTS 9 and Beyond

While waiting on the breakfast to be ready (Champagne Brunch – Yay!!), I took a stroll around twitter and found the celebs and pros have been tweeting fools. Enjoying their time off. I won’t post all their tweets, but some of them and their twit pics were fun. If you want to follow them and see what they have to say, you can find all their twitter accounts on a previous post!

Aww, Tony, so sweet. And the Ballas men – strange. 🙂 Lacey and Lance at the Dizzy Feet Gala!! And Natalie Jinxes herself.

Natalie – word to the wise, never talk about how good traffic is, because then it WON’T be. 🙂 Derek being a good uncle, taking the kids to Miley Cyrus with Julianne and his sisters. They apparently hit a local honky tonk after – I assume someone took the children home. 🙂

For those who didn’t know, Carrieann had some sort of surgery yesterday – it appears she pulled through nicely. Apparently it was minor and related to her neck/back. I could look it up, but dudes it’s Thanksgiving and I’m stuffing myself. 🙂

Top Dancing with the Stars Season 9 Music

Many of you know that we’ve been doing our best to list all of the songs used on Dancing with the Stars. Hopefully you’ve found that useful. I see a lot of people visiting those pages, but rarely hear what people think about it.

Anyway, I always think it’s fun to look back at the music from the season of Dancing with the Stars and see which songs were the most popular. This isn’t scientific. It’s basically based on which songs got the most clicks. So, here’s the top 4 songs used on Dancing with the Stars season 9.

Hallelujah Leonard Cohen - The Essential Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah – Leonard Cohen (this blew all the other songs out of the water)
Would You…. ? Touch & Go - I Find You Very Attractive - Would You... ? – Touch & Go
Living on Video Trans-X - Living On Video - Living On Video – Trans-X
They Jem - Finally Woken - They – Jem

Very interesting set of music. Thanks for stopping by all year for the DWTS music. Of course, we’ll be doing our best to keep up with the other rumors in the off season and be back for more DWTS music next season as well.

The Winner of DWTS Season 9 – Congratulations to…

…Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the best person won out of that final three. I never thought, at the beginning of this season, that I would be so ecstatic that an Osmond won the competition. But, while not the best dancer, Donny had heart, humility and passion for this show that was required to win. Sans the massive fanbase and ringer status, he still deserved to win over Mya and Kelly. The man got it done.

Why? Well, for me, it boiled down to Donny and Kelly. The two of them made me FEEL their dances – I cried when Kelly and Louis cried. Donny just plain entertained during his freestyle which Mya, with all her technical perfection, just couldn’t do. And, tonight, Donny made me feel all mushy and happy – yeah, he’s got too much of a mouth at times, but tonight when he was genuinely shocked that Kelly took third, and then he was over joyed when he won….well, he showed more excitement and heart than Mya showed all season. And that, my friends, is the key to winning Dancing with the Stars.

Congratulations again, to Donny and Kym.
