The music selected for each dance does not harmonize with the required steps, rhythms and movments. Who
decides what music the dancers must conform to? The
vocals are total distractions that interrupt any pleasure in observing the dance. This could become my
favorite program and more enjoyable if appropriate music to correspond with each dance was played. ‘Bolero’ was the tune for a rhumba several seasons ago and ‘Little Yellow Basket’ was the choice for a samba!
Supposedly the Pros get to request a list of songs at the beginning of the season, but there is no guarantee they will get what they want, and sometimes they’ll pick a song for a particular dance, but the producers will assign it for a different dance. Hence the Bolero tune for a rumba, etc.
These are just things I’ve read and seen around the net.
DWTS is one of my favorite shows; however, I must be a bit old fashioned as the music they play for the cha-cha’s, tangoes, etc. is just not the type of music they played back in the 40′s-50′s. When it is announced what dance they are going to do, the music just doesn’t fit…..it seems to throw everything off kilter. Why are they playing this type of music? Xavier Cugart and other well-known band leaders must be turning over in their graves about now. That is the only thing I do not like about DWTS…..the music is all wrong.
