DWTS Season 10 – Rumor Roundup Part II
Okay, where was I? My first post from yesterday on this topic ended with Lou Ferrigno, so I’ll pick it up from there. As I mentioned yesterday, the rumors about who will be on DWTS often start a couple seasons before they actually appear on the show, so we decided to list those rumors from the last several months once again – just in case. 
But first we have a NEW case of a celeb wanting to be on the show and telling everyone she wants to be on the show, at least according to OK! Magazine:
Former Boy Meets World star and current The Dish host Danielle Fishel aspires to be on Dancing With The Stars in 2010.
“I’ve told them really straight forwardly that I really want to do the show, and unfortunately they’ve got thousands of other celebrities that feel the exact same way,” she tells me. “There are so many people who want to do that show because it’s a real classy show, especially for reality TV. I told them I’m interested, they know I’m interested, and hopefully one day they’ll think I’d be a good fit for the show. “
Her dream partner is Maksim.
“He is the biggest, manliest dancer they have on that show, and I think for me to have a male dance partner, I would want someone that I felt very feminine next to. I think he’s the manliest dancer on the show.”
Okay, on with the roundup:
Leslie Jordan – he’s that cute little comedian with the southern accent. As I said originally, this was likely wishful thinking on Leslie’s part – plus he might even be shorter than Chelsie. This is one of the rumors that I desperately wanted to be true.
Heh, I just realized that I called both Debi Mazar AND Aaron Carter in July. Dang, that was early – which means that anything I hear NOW could also be true.
Greg Louganis – This was according to Celebuzz and I was so-so on it at the time, in terms of likelihood, but I think Greg’s appearance on last season in that Olympian segment solidified his chances to be on either this season or in the fall. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Greg in 2010 – one season or the other.
Jordan Knight - this one was twitter based, but then that’s how Debi Mazar and Aaron Carter started out. Who’s to say Jordan wasn’t on the list, but Aaron got picked instead. Jordan could be this seasons Aaron.
Dean McDermott – around the same time that Jordan was being rumored, there was a ton of talk about Dean – often by his wife. I believe they did talk to him so maybe we’ll see him this year.
Beth Horn – this one was more of a campaign to get her on the show than any real rumor she would indeed be on. I don’t know if campaigns have any impact whatsoever, and I never saw anything other than campaigning to indicate she might be on the show. That casts a good deal of doubt on the odds. We’ll see!!
LOL – I found the Kelly Osbourne thing and called a few things correctly. I said Mark or Derek as her partner and she was rumored to be originally partnered with Mark before she told producers that she wanted someone she could push around – so she was subsequently moved to Louis. Good call, Kelly.
Shari Sheppard, Alicia Sacramone, Andrew Firestone and Aubry O’Day were on a list of rumored cast members that I had not seen anywhere else other than the single blog – and that list included some HIGHLY implausible people, so I’m thinking it was more of a wish list than actual, potential celebs. I could be wrong.
Jeremy Roenick, Tori Spelling and Lynda Carter – these were either said jokingly or were strictly twitter related. I think Lynda is the only plausible one at this point.
Let’s not forget the ubiquitous Paula Abdul rumor. That one was so prevalent before last season that I’m not even going to provide a link. Heck, Conrad Greene basically admitted that he asked her.
LaToya Jackson – it was widely reported that the only reason she wasn’t on last season was because of Michael’s death (Jermaine was also occassionally included in this rumor). LOTS of people are pretty convinced that she will be on this coming season and that she’ll demand Derek as a partner. At the point this becomes true, I won’t know whether to jump off a cliff or be intrigued by the possibility.
Brandy and her brother – could have been mass confusion or a mix up. Who knows.
Dan Cortese – Dan was told – and proclaimed to the world on Twitter – that he was in the running for the last guy spot last season. That makes him a possibility for this season, in my book. I’m cool with this because he’s hot. 
Jennifer Grey – Jennifer was rumored for last season as I mentioned in a post about Joanna Krupa (and correctly called her partner as Derek), and she is also being rumored for this season. I think she’s likely to show up sooner or later.
That should bring us pretty much up to the “current” rumors as I’ve been posting then since Season 9 ended. Once we get farther along, I’ll make a complete list of previous rumors and current rumors. I do like lists, you know.
Alicia Sacramone is an absolute no. I can tell you that for a fact. She’s back in training.
Also, floating around some gymnastics forums, Nastia Liukin’s “big announcement” is that she’ll be on the show.
One more note about A-Sac. She has stated in multiple interviews that she would love to be on the show. But for now she’s a no-go.
Nastia has been rumored for several seasons now – of course, she’ll go to Mark and he’ll win again. I predict that pairing now.
I think Danielle Fishel would be great on DWTS. She would have that Melissa Joan Hart appeal. I would also love to see Dan Cortese, Heidi! I hope Sheri Shephard doesn’t make the show, I have a feeling she would be really irritating… I REALLY hope Derek doesn’t get LaToya Jackson. That would be awful. Derek should get his chance with an Olympian, for once. He’s never been given a ringer, and Mark always gets the good ones. (Like you said).
Actually Princess Heidi, she’s only been rumored for now two seasons and only seriously for season 10 because of her “big announcement” that is supposedly coming sometime soon. And I don’t think she’ll go to Mark. I think more than not she’ll if she’s on the show will be partnered with Derek or maybe Maks because of personality.
I’ve heard Nastia’s name mentioned for at least three, maybe four seasons – the whole meaning of the word RUMOR tells you that it doesn’t have to be “serious”.
They will never give Derek a ringer. I don’t know why – maybe they feel they don’t have to in order to keep him around for a while. While I think they tend to give him women in their 30′s because he can hang without it looking strange, the fact that he’s so young and young looking would make it strange for him to have someone older than that – that is the ONLY hope I have for him NOT getting LaToya Jackson. If they cast a blond, 30ish mommy that no one’s ever heard of – that will be his partner.
Princess Heidi, my guess those “rumors” are from people have never seen a gymnastic meet in their life. There is absolutely no way that she could have been rumored to do the show until after the Olympics. 30 hours in the gym a week doesn’t allow for pretty much anything else.
I would be SOOO happy to have Nastia Liukin on the show. I love her. Not sure why, but I think she’s fantastic.
P.S. Katrina, I love that you call her Princess Heidi. One of the best changes I made on this site.

I don’t know what else to call her? That’s the name posted.
Personally, I hate her gymnastics but I think she’d be better suited for dancing. She has the pedigree for it (Her mother was a Olympic gold medalist in Rhythmic gymnastics) not to mention she can hyper-extend her knees which makes great lines.
I love Nastia! But please not to Mark. He already had two Olympic gold medalists. Give any of the other male pros a shot with the Olympian. It is boring and predictable.
Brandy and her brother? Ray J? Brandy is famous and has a career. But Ray J? Ew.
Well, Katrina, I thought you had been reading the site long enough to know that JOHN tagged me with the “Princess” label as a joke – I had no say in the matter. But I found it amusing. I figured you knew that, but maybe you started reading here after that happened. Most people just call me Heidi.
Nastia sounds like Brooke 2.0. It’s about time Derek got someone with a name. If not Derek, Louis or Jonathan or one of the good, yet continually hosed male pros (but not Alec or Dmitry). Even Maks would be preferable to Mark. Not that I dislike Mark, but HE is the one who has been truly blessed with partners thus far.
NAstia is not going to do dancing with the stars people, she is working in her on gymnast competicion the LiuKin Cup and she is doing clinics tour now.
i love Derek but it is about time for him to get a bad partner, not a ringer(maybe one day), he never had a huge popular partner but never had a bad one (the only pro who never had a bad partner)
Jennifer, the funny thing is, I think they’ve tried more than once to give him a “bad” partner, but for whatever reason it didn’t work out. Hindsight is always 20/20, but going in would anyone have expected Joanna to make it to fourth place?? DEREK didn’t expect her to make it past week one when they first started training (he said as much) – models really don’t do that well, in general – more have failed than have succeeded. Lil’ Kim? They probably thought she would come in fresh out of prison, cuss up a storm and act the diva and turn people off. That didn’t work out. She didn’t even do them the favor of providing drama. Derek said in one interview that he thought he would get a vacation that season because she would go early. And NO ONE expected Brooke Burke to be amazing. Remember, they don’t audition for this show in that way – I’ve never heard of anyone being made to dance before being allowed on the show.
There is NO WAY to determine who’s going to shine and who’s going to suck unless they are a clear ringer like Mya, Kristi or Shawn. I thought that Mark Dacascos and Debi Mazar would be WAY better than they were and we know how those two turned out. And let’s talk about Kelly Osbourne. Do you think they took her away from Mark and gave her to Louis thinking – gee, we’re finally sending Louie to the finals? HELL no. There is no way to predict who gets the bad partners – even those that should be obviously bad or obviously good, often weren’t. A lot of it is luck. In Derek’s case, I think he’s been very lucky AND is a very good teacher. Mark? Just plain luck getting handed two very popular Olympic gold medalists. And remind me again how long Cloris Leachman lasted and she’s 80 something years old? A long time, considering. I think people need to remember everything that goes into this show and what doesn’t go into this show, why people vote and what the producers REALLY care about.
A part of me will laugh if they give Derek someone AGAIN that you guys think will suck and he again does well with her. I’m going to book mark this post so we can re-visit at a later date.
But, frankly, I just pray like hell he’s even ON the show, let alone get a great partner.
you are right that you can predict who are going to do good, but like you said Derek is been luck ,he is a good teaher but he is not miracle worker, all his partnes could dance, MArk is also very luck ,they are both luck in different ways (of course Mark had more luck).
but one thing that people tend to forget that they are just the pros ,they don’t have any control over the partners that they got, do you really think that Corky has any power on this (i’m sorry but this is really lame), don’t blame Mark (or Derek,not you heide of course )for the producers choice , and we all know that he was pretty much the only choice for Shawn but this is not the point.
like i said i love Derek but some point he has to get a badpartner ( i’ll miss him a lot) but i don’t blame him for getting people that can dance
Jennifer, I would not rule out Nastia. Just because she has those two things, doesn’t necessarily mean she won’t do the show. She, according to my sources, that other than putting her name to the Liukin Cup, she doesn’t have a lot of do with it.
Heidi, nope I didn’t know that. If Nastia did the show I’d love to see her Jonathan. I don’t think she’s Brook 2.0… I wasn’t really a fan of Brooks due to her lack of hip action continually. Nastia may have more hips but her lines would be a whole lot better than Brooke’s
Nastia has tons of musicality. Jonathan is too tall for Nastia. I just do not want Nastia given to Mark who won twice when given two sure bets as Princess Heidi said. I disagree Mark was the only option for Shawn. Derek was an option too. Instead he got Lil Kim who I think was suppose to be his challenging partner. First the huge height difference and they were so different. Similar to Julianne and Adam. Lil Kim was also a criminal. Then Joanna who people did not know and those who did knew her as swearing at a football player. Joanna and Shannon were both good looking but stiff and no musicality. I would not call Joanna or Shannon good dancers. What Derek did was hide their flaws well and make the routines entertaining. That is on the pro. Lucky is Mark who had several ringers as partners and two ringers who are popular or lucky is Dmitry who got a partner like Mya in his second season.
Dmitry was originally very lucky in his first season too, Joan – they gave him Jewel, remember? She was rumored to be very good, before she had to withdraw. I think they’re trying to make Dmitry the new Derek because they likely see Derek as on his way out the door. They need another likable hottie, Derek’s role. They already have smoldering hunk (Maks) and likeable, hunky pro that looks right with older female celebs (Tony). Sans Mark, the rest don’t have real “roles” they fill, I don’t think. Except Louis is very handy as the shortest male on the show. Unfortunately for them, part of Derek’s appeal is his personality – not just his looks. And, so far, Dmitry is too quiet. Seems nice enough, but it’s really hard to tell. And I have to say his not understanding WHY Len was scoring him and Mya poorly just boggles the mind. Derek has gotten yelled at by len for having too much crap in his routines, as have Mark and others – hell, watch what Derek does after the Lambada with Joanna – he hides behind her like he’s going to get yelled at again. He’s done this before – I think with Lil’ Kim. He does occasionally put stuff in that he knows Len won’t like. So how hard could it be to get after the first time you’re told??
