Just when I was complaining that there were no good rumors out there, TMZ provides Paula. It’s like they were waiting for me to complain. Anyway, TMZ claims that Paula was offered a 1 million dollar development deal with ABC provided that she does season 10 of DWTS. Not sure how I feel about bribery. In any case, rumors about Paula have been around for a while now so this feels more credible than many of the rumors I come across. Plus, it’s TMZ – they get it right often. Not always, but often.
According to the proposed deal, ABC would allow Paula to do “The X Factor” with Simon Cowell. We’re told Simon and Paula met a week ago to discuss the show, and it looks like it will happen.
Paula has to make a quick decision — we’re told the ABC offer is contingent on Paula doing “DWTS” this season, which starts in March
She’s tiny and she’s a ringer. Which means, she’ll dance with Mark Ballas. Because he always gets the tiny ringers.
And, after the Idol brouhaha, her ringer status is probably MASSIVE. I can see it now, Derek with LaToya (who everyone will say no one will vote for) and Mark with Paula – who EVERYONE will vote for. The producers have been saying they want to mix it up because the pro pairings are too predictable (wonder where they got that idea
) – they would see this as unpredictable because both women are so much older than the two youngest male pros. But they would be WRONG. You heard it here first. That’s MY prediction. The only wrinkle is Dmitry – he gets ringers too, but he may be too tall.

This would be a bad move for ABC to make with DWTS. Paula is a professional dancer and choreographer, it would be hurtful to the show if they had her as a contestant. Id much rather see her on the judging panel. Though the last I heard x factor will be on fox, but peronally I really want Paula to be a part of a dancing show I vote for SYTYCD over DWTS.
Amanda,
This isn’t really about Paula being a dancer/choreographer. It’s about DWTS getting A-list celebrities on the show. If it can do that, then it will be an even bigger hit than it is now.
I love the Ballas prediction. Hilarious, and sadly true.
I absolutely hate this is if it was true
Yeah, they’ve never cared about the ringiest of ringers before, why would they start now? I have a feeling a bunch of us will be griping about this as a reality in a month or so. Particularly the Ballas part.
I would be pleasantly suprised if they gave her to Louis – since Derek and Mark are both very friendly with Paula, and Mark’s had plenty of ringers, it would be at least a little more fair. Still – not very fair, but moreso. Of course, Louis might be friends with her too, but I know Derek and Mark are.
ha if they are shooting for a list they can do better than Paula. I still think her competing would be a stupid move. Maybe they should let on of the ballroom contestants on sytycd compete as the celeb on dwts, which yes thats a bad idea too.
She has Tony written all over her.
Cheerlead – Check
Old – Check
Diva – Check
LOL!
I think this would be an awful idea, what’s the point if they are going to start letting professional dancers on the show? It kind of defeats the purpose of the whole growth thing. I honestly don’t think anyone would vote for her unless she came across more friendly and enjoyable on this show. I honestly don’t know one person that likes her. Although, it would probably be funny to see her dance in that stupor she always seems to be in.
LOL indeed, Jeniffer!! But if you thought the height difference between Derek and Lil’ Kim (or Mark and Shawn) was huge, Paula with Tony….well, wait. There was Marissa with…Tony? I’ve blocked her existence on the show out of my head…anyway, she’s pretty short and got one of the taller pros. So, it’s possible.
Regardless, I can’t wait to see what happens.
Paula would definitely cause a stir if she was on the show. Exactly what the show wants to have happen I think.
I have no idea why ABC would want to do this. I understand ratings boosts, but this is ridiculous. This is supposed to be a show for people that are NON professional dancers. Some may have limited dance experience (and no ballroom), but this woman has studied dance her entire life. Oh well, hopefully it will be good viewing if she accepts.
I honestly think it’s more on the fact that they’ve recently have been in contact with a few other pre-existing dancers…
Let’s review:
Season 7- Lance Bass
Season 8- Lil Kim, Melissa Rycroft
Season 9- Mya, Debi Mazar, Aaron Carter, Joanna Krupa
Personally if I were Conrad I’d have season 10 be a more tight-fisted battle with established dancers like Paula but include extreme rules such as…
-2 lifts at a minimum in a Latin/ Swing/ Argentine Tango
-Any flaws (even the tiniest one) will have a point deduction from head judge first, then Carrie-Ann, then Bruno
-Any dance not in it’s standard beat will recieve 3 points off
-Recycling dance moves in same Latin routine [i.e. Samba, Salsa, Cha-cha, Mambo] is prohibited (with acception of basic and simple turns)
-Pros will have to have some help from stars when choereographing the routine
That seems fair…
So heres a list of ppl like Paula:
-Katie Holmes
-Marc Anthony
-Prince
-Mia Michaels

It is so exciting if Pauls does DWTS… I know it would make me watch every show and I think she would go to the end, no matter who her partner would be.
Nick, have you ever danced Latin, specifically Latin? A lot of the moves are “recycled” because the dances are infused with each other and have picked up moves from many of the same sources. Its the same in many of the standard dances, like Jive (although it’s not technically a standard dance), Foxtrot, and Quickstep. They ALL borrowed moves from Lindy Hop, Charleston, East Coast Swing, Balboa, The Big Apple, and whole host of other Swing dances. It’s how Ballroom dance evolved!
Of course Paula would be likely to go to the end – that’s WHY she shouldn’t compete on the show! She’s a professional dancer/choreographer – and people thought Mya was bad? This is ten times worse. Her age and her back problems reduce it a bit, but not really!
I have to agree with Katrina – many of the dances have the same moves as standard, and many dance have moves that are actually required as part of the dance. Len gets cranky when you don’t include some very specific moves. Like a samba roll, for example – if you put that in every single samba you choreograph, it’s not “recycling” – it using standard dance steps for a samba. Now, when Derek choreographed that sequence in the Team Tango this last season, with them all in a line doing kicks – that was a specific sequence of not necessarily standard moves. He DID recycle it in the choreography he did for Cheryl Cole in the U.K. – which, since most Americans will never see it, doesn’t really matter. Same goes for Tyce Diorio – he recycled nearly an entire dance (the cancer dance) for SYTYCD UK. I personally liked it better the first time.
But that was probably due to the dancers.
Yes all I mean is spice in up with more advanced moves most novice dancers could never attempt… plus I meant that its fine for all the couples to use moves just try 2 go beyond normal concept and push the envolope

I think that these people will be on this season…..
Paula Abdul
Pamela Anderson
LaToya Jackson (who was highly considering to do it last season, but because of her brother’s death opted out)
Kevin Federline
Levi Johnston
John Stamos
Greg Louganis
Jennifer Grey
Lou Ferrigno
Sherri Shepard????
Dean McDermott????
Kelly Ripa???
idk about the last 3 but everyone else seems to be in most rumors. In fact, it was reported by In Touch Magazine and TV Guide that Pamela Anderson is doing the show.
