DWTS Season 10 – Week 2 Results Show Recap

This is turning out to be one fine season of DWTS!! Even the results show was pretty awesome. My only comment is that I wish they would allow the pros to do the choreography – that Ballroom fusion dance by MJ’s choreographers was a little too scattered for me. Here are some of the highlights of the result show – for me, anyway. :-) (Note: the Haiti Tribute has it’s own post.)

Adam Carolla – LOL!!

The Pro Dance

Okay, this was not a highlight for me – if not for the dancing it would have been a bit painful. The Beach Boys, with pro dancing.

The Len Commandments – Goody, Len being as funny as I know he can be AND blasphemy all in one segment!! LOL. Shoulda done this LAST season. :-)

I confess that I had an ulcer by the time this show was over and Shannen was eliminated. :-)

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Season 10, Week 3 – Who’s Dancing What?

Well, so much for the idea of TWO dances per week. Looks like, from what I can tell, is that we have Quickstep, Paso Doble and Waltz this week.  As always, if you think I’ve gotten something wrong, or if I leave something out, let me know and I’ll update.

Nicole and Derek – Quickstep – I expect these two will continue to live up to their own hype. :-) Going by this picture, anyone got any ideas about their “story”?

Evan and Anna – Quickstep - Evan started Stars on Ice this week AND he has two broken toes. So, will he be able to hold it together? I’m thinking yeah. This guy has a serious work ethic. However, I’m going to have to unfollow him on Twitter because his spamming is ridiculous. Dude, you fans KNOW at this point to vote for you. Give it a freakin’ rest.

Erin and Maks – Waltz – could be very interesting. Just read what Maks has to say in his blog. I have a feeling this “story” could either be cool as hell or a disaster. But, at the end of the day, Erin did very well with her Foxtrot, so I imagine her waltz will be beautiful.

Niecy and Louis – Waltz – I see no reason why she won’t do well on this, but at some point she’s really going to have to step it up, what with the competition this season. Niecy and Nicole both tweeted this photo which nearly caused me to go blind. :-)

Chad and Cheryl – Paso Doble – So, will Chad have a break through and kick some serious butt, or is this going to be a Maurice Green Paso, where he stomps around?? I want to say he’s going to have a breakthrough, but he’s disappointed me two weeks in a row now, so I’m going to hedge. :-)

Jake and Chelsie – Quickstep - Jake did okay with the Viennese Waltz, and okay with the jive – but I think the Quickstep could be his waterloo. We’ll see. It’s in hold and it’s FAST.

Pam and Damien – Paso Doble – oh boy is she getting good dances!! I think. :-) It is, as she says, very dramatic. But can Pam do dramatic and fierce, not to mention keep her chest off of Damian’s? I’m of two minds on this one, but since she keeps surprising me I’m going to bet she does well.

Buzz and Ashly – Waltz – If he doesn’t knock it out of the park, America better get rid of him. Or Kate. :-) But if he couldn’t Foxtrot, why would he be able to Waltz?

Kate and Tony – Paso Doble – Hmmmm…Tony is excited about this dance. Didn’t Kate do the Jive? How did she get the Paso and not the Quickstep? I smell a rat. Anyway, I’m seriously hoping that she’s done for after her tantrum last week. Please?

Aiden and Edyta – Quickstep – I dunno, I don’t see this happening. I think he’s probably a gonner and Kate will stick for another week. Unfortunately.

Anyone else get the feeling they’re trying to even the playing field when handing out dances? Except for Aiden? I do.

DWTS Season 10, Week 2 – The Pros Blog (and a Celeb or two too)!

First up, Maks in TV Guide – who has an awful lot to say this week. The title alone says a mouthful. :-) Excerpts:

Dancing’s Maks: Celebs Need to Be Nice to Their Partners

Last time, I talked about Erin having trouble getting into character and exaggerating movements. This week, it’s all about acting, so I told her to build upon what we did in the foxtrot because it has to be that much bigger and that much more exaggerated. You’ll see why next week! Everybody is either going to absolutely love our waltz or not get what just happened. I’m not concerned with the judges. I know that what we are going to do is going to be technically savvy and the choreography is a very straightforward waltz. It’s Week 3 and I think what I need to have Erin do is to come out with a solid performance that doesn’t have to be “Oh my God!” The “Oh my God!” is going to be the story.

Len Goodman — Lord have mercy, you are the man! This week, he gets the lifetime achievement for what he said: Celebrities need to show up, keep up and shut up. I think it’s the most amazing thing to happen to us. People don’t realize that the pressure in its entirety is on us. The real pressure is not on the celebrities. They just have to do the dance. How fast they learn is all them, but everything else — the choreography, the costumes, the interpretation — no one has any idea how freaking hard it is to choreograph a number in four days and teach it to someone who’s never danced. Not only do you have to choreograph it, but you have to fight with them to prove that what you want them to do is going to be great. It is crazy! It is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life and I keep coming back twice a year because I’m a masochist! I just want to say to all the celebrities to be nice to your partners — obviously you’ll have frustrations and disagreements, but just be nice. Your success on the show depends on us. You just have to create a bond, create trust and figure out how to work together. Have fun!

Derek focuses more on himself and Nicole and less about other people in his OK! blog – although he does touch on Shannen’s elimination and Mark’s injury. An excerpt:

But seriously, while we were dancing on Monday night, I could tell it was going well because when Nicole performs, she makes noises. She goes,” Whoo! All right! Yeah!” She makes sounds to pump herself up and keep the dance going. As a matter of fact, we’re both very vocal. We’re both talking to each other throughout the dance. It’s nice to hear that.

However, I kept looking in her eyes and it’s unbelievable how nervous she is. Nicole plays it like she’s confident and strong but she has to get into gear like everybody else. Dancing is a scary experience for her. Also on Monday night, I felt I’ve never worked harder during a dance in my entire time on the show. It was extremely fast and I’m just glad the judges rewarded us.

Tuesday was a surprising elimination night with Shannen Doherty going home after she’d improved so much during the second week. But it seems like fate as her partner (and my close friend Mark Ballas) had a freak accident Monday during rehearsal and couldn’t have continued in the competition anyway.

I’m worried about Mark’s knee. He’s had problems with his knees for awhile but he’s a soldier and powers on through it. This time, the muscle came off the bone. But he’s a trouper — he’ll be back. Mark is taking it extra easy now to avoid having to have surgery. In season five, the same thing happened with his shoulder — he was injured, but he kept dancing on it and then it dislocated and it turned into this huge thing, so it’s best he rests his knee. As you all know, we are not only friends but we also perform in the Ballas Hough band together, so I need my buddy to be 100 percent! It’s a shame but it’s one of those things — this show is crazy, right?

Jake Pavelka (along with Chelsie), has posted a video blog on his official web site.

I did find Cheryl’s US Magazine Blog from Tuesday before the results show – any one know if this is a regular thing for her? I couldn’t tell. An excerpt:

Pro dancer Cheryl Burke is competing on her ninth season on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, performing with Cincinnati Bengals football player Chad Ochocinco. In an exclusive post-show blog, Burke tells Us her thoughts after she and Ochocinco performed a foxtrot March 29 that drew lukewarm reception from judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioni and a score of 16/20. Burke is blogging for UsMagazine.com:

After last night’s foxtrot, I wanted to hear constructive criticism, not bashing from the judges! I wanted to hear something we can really work with and improve and I’m not sure we heard that. During the routine, I could tell there were a few things in the middle where it wasn’t our best dance. But we gave it our all and Chad has so much potential. I hope the fans will have us back next week!
