Reba McEntire and Mark Ballas Perform on Dancing with the Stars
ABC has announced that Reba McEntire and Mark Ballas (yes, that Mark Ballas) will be performing on tomorrow night’s Dancing with the Stars results show. Here’s what I believe they’ll be singing/playing on DWTS and which professionals will be performing:
Reba McEntire will sing “I Want a Cowboy” with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Val Chmerkovskiy, Snejana Petrova and Edyta Śliwińska dancing.
Reba McEntire will sing “Consider Me Gone” with Dmitry Chaplin and Lacey Schwimmer dancing.
Mark Ballas will play an acoustic “Malague–a” with Chelsie Hightower and Derek Hough dancing.
Looks like Dmitry and Lacey fans will be watching tomorrow night. Princess Heidi also posted this AWESOME picture of Derek Hough and Chelsie Hightower which has me really excited to see them dance together.
I also just realized that I never posted the music from the past DWTS musical performers. Well, I can’t find them all, but I did find the Beach Boys list:
The Beach Boys featuring John Stamos sang “California Girls” , “Kokomo” , and “Fun, Fun, Fun” with Cheryl Burke, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Ashly Costa, Anna Trebunskaya, Louis van Amstel and Damian Whitewood dancing.
I’d love to figure out the song that Emmanuel Pierre-Antoine and the Haitian dancers performed on DWTS as well.(UPDATE: The Haiti dancers performed to: “Hips Don’t Lie” Shakira feat. Wyclef Jean. Thanks Courtney!)
As always check back later tonight to see the latest DWTS 2010 music.
I don’t think that Mark is actually singing – I think he’s playing acoustic guitar with three other musicians while Derek and Chelsie do a Paso. That was the impression I got from the Press Release anyway – I though I posted that here, but maybe that was on PureDerekHough. I lose track. 🙂
Correct as usual Princess.
“In addition, dance pro/musician Mark Ballas, together with three other musicians, will play an acoustic paso doble arrangement of “Malague–a” live in the show. They will be accompanied on the dance floor by Derek Hough and Chelsie Hightower.” per http://www.abcmedianet.com/assets/pr/html/040210_03.html
Looks like he is just playing. I’ll update the post
Who is Snejana Petrova? Val’s dance partner?
The song playing during Emmanuel’s performance was “Hips Don’t Lie” Shakira feat. Wyclef Jean. 🙂
Thanks Courtney. I figured one of the rockstars on this site would know the answer. I updated the post.
Jeniffer, Good question. I’d assume so, but we’ll find out for sure tomorrow night.
Amazing that Mark Ballas doesn’t get hit with the “favored by TBTB wrap” nearly as much as Derek does.(That I’ve seen anyway)
He gets partnered with olympic gold medalists, popular Disney girl pop performer, popular tv performers, and reality star with over a million followers. He also gets featured as a mucical performer twice.
So he escapes the favored wrap because he doesn’t always deliver the goods with his partners?
Cori, good observation! It is weird because Kristi and Shawn were bigger favorites than any other celebrity except maybe Donny Osmond.
Or maybe a lot of people just don’t like Mark as much. I don’t mind Mark, but he’s not the most magnetic of personalities if you know what I mean.
I’m afraid Mark may have inherited his father’s tendency to “outdance” his partners rather than working with their strengths – I think he often crafts his choreo to be challenging & flashy, rather than tailored to fit his partner’s abilities. It has also bothered me that he also tends to overdance while performing with his partners, which just seems to make any mistakes made by his partner seem that much worse. I think Derek tends to aim more for working with his partner’s strengths and seems to dance WITH them, rather than over them…which could explain why some favor Derek over Mark, in my opinion.
I found out that Snejana danced with Tony.

I guess Tony’s trying to get her on the show.
Courtney, I agree Derek dances with his partners and does his choreographing to their strength and to hide their weaknesses–which he has said time and time again.
You don’t hear him tell his partners that he isn’t going to dumb it down for them–Ala Mark w/Shannen.
I don’t think you have to dumb it down–just be realistic on their skills and work with their strength. That is why IMO Derek always takes his partners so far in the competition–not being favoritism.
But doing a good job means that the show knows how valuable he is and they all benefit from putting on a good show.
What song was that Niecy & Louis danced to this week 4/5/0?
Loretta,
You can see the music from tonight’s DWTS: https://www.puredwts.com/2010/04/05/dwts-2010-week-3-or-is-this-2-music/
