DWTS Ratings – Still On Top
Since this was published on May 11, I figure it has to reflect the previous week – Oh look, it says May 3-9. 🙂 The numbers are down slightly with the departure of Kate the Trainwreck, but so are American Idol’s. I think a lot of that has to do with it being Springtime and people are outside having fun – which is where I would have been today if it hadn’t started raining AGAIN. From the Associated Press:

Interesting to see the Kate effect in action. Although, I wonder how much is Kate and how much is just the show in general.
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that Idol this season has almost universally been billed as a “snoozefest” by the media, in addition to having a really strong cast on DWTS this season. Idol’s had relatively ho-hum performances this year, no real strong personalities among the contestants, and the winner was pretty much decided after the first round of Hollywood week. That, and Ryan is just acting bizarre, Ellen has been disappointingly unfunny, and Simon seems to have already checked out. I don’t know that I would go so far as to say that Idol won’t be around next year, but I definitely think its popularity is waning…which is fine with me, as it is leaving the door open for DWTS to take over as the ratings juggernaut 🙂
