Dancing with the Stars Season 12 Rumor – Cheryl Cole
:::sigh::: Okay, I am only doing this because it is WHAT I DO on this site. I post rumors of future celebrities that might be on DWTS. Often, like now, I have reason to believe it’s not true but I post it anyway, in the off chance a really crappy source gets something right. And this one is guaranteed to piss people off, so that’s a side benefit. 
Since Derek is on my crap list at this moment (don’t get excited, this too shall pass), I’m not really that pleased that this chose today to pop up.
Background: if you are paying any attention to Derek at all right now, he is ALL over the British media because he is apparently “involved” with Cheryl – so involved that they went to Tanzania for a week together. That much, at least, appears to be true. Cheryl is quite famous in the UK and, I imagine, other parts of Europe, but is a relative unknown here in the US. BUT, she is likely set to be a judge in Simon Cowell’s new show in the fall of 2012, The X-Factor; she’s currently a judge on the UK version of the same show. She is a pop singer, formerly/currently as part of Girls Aloud but also as a solo act. She was introduced to Derek last fall by Bruno. He went on to choreograph a dance for a TV show she was doing, he then choreographed her music video for the same song. After he and Nicole won this past season he was immediately on a plane to the UK where he performed with Cheryl as the opening act for the Black Eyed Peas. I believe they did the concerts in London, Paris and then performed at O2 at Wembley Arena. Since flying back to London after the finale they have been ALL OVER the press and the press has been insane with a different story every single day – sometimes polar opposite stories everyday. For this reason, I post this with a cautionary British Press are absolute CRAP so don’t get too excited either way. The only reason it might be plausible is because it seems like something the producers would do (pair Derek with his girlfriend) AND it seems like a platform she might use to launch herself in the US prior to X-Factor. All that said, from The Mirror.UK:
Cheryl Cole is being lined up for a sizzling new double act with dancer pal Derek Hough on US TV’s Dancing with the Stars.
The singer’s team has been informally approached by ABC network bosses who believe Cheryl and Derek would make an explosive duo.
They were keen to sign her up for the autumn series of the show but such a commitment would clash with her work on X Factor.
So instead they’ve sounded out her representatives about starring as one of the celebrity dancers in the series starting in March 2011 with the final in May.
A source said: “Her US team think it will be a great move for her and increase her profile stateside. Partnering her with Derek too would be a masterstroke and they want her to give it serious thought.
With all this Derek and Cheryl press I was wondering when this would become more fodder. Damn. I gotta sat I’d love to see this happen, but imagine the bellyaching from other fans about it.
And how come Derek’s on your crap list? Aren’t you his biggest fan?
I thought that Cheryl Cole/Tweedy had had some ballroom lessons before she became famous. Also in a video she said that she would never do “Strictly come Dancing” and that when she heard Parachute (her single), she wanted to do a Paso (doesn’t sound like an amateur to me). I would love to see her do this, but I can see that the upset could potentially be even bigger then Nicole’s.
Well, I know what a Paso is (as do most of the people who read this site) so being able to know enough to say you want to do one hardly makes one a professional dancer. As for ballroom lessons – I think she had them when she was a child, along with ballet and the other stuff you take when you’re a little kid. I don’t know if that actually would count in the eyes of the producers. Hell, Donny had ballroom lessons when an adult and not long before DWTS, so I doubt very much it counts.
As for her ringer status, I would put her lower than Nicole and Mya – maybe around Sabrina and Mel B but possibly not as talented. This may be due totally to the fact that it isn’t a competition, but when I see her dance with Derek (and they’ve got 3 variations on their “Paso”) she doesn’t seem as crisp or as sharp or as tight as any of the other Pop Singer Ringers (tm Heidi). It could also be due to the highly inappropriate shoes she has a tendency to wear while dancing.
Don’t get me wrong, she doesn’t embarrass herself in any way, she does a good job (but better with Derek by far than his replacement) and I enjoy watching her dance with Derek – she just might not be a fabulous as everyone expects. It’s hard to say.

Derek “appears to be” making some poor decisions (at least one) in regard to his professional life because of Cheryl and wanting to be with her. I put that in quotes because I don’t know it for a fact (although a lot of signs point in that direction). That upsets me because I think he is, by far, the most talented person on the DWTS cast – I would hate to see him waste all that talent. There’s plenty of time for him to turn it around, but he’s on my crap list.
Blargh. Call me bitchy, but if Cheryl’s itching to hoof it anywhere, it should be on Strictly Come Dancing – a show with an audience that might actually know who she is. I’m almost wondering if this rumor popped up via a long, convulted game of media telephone – British Media Outlet A heard that Derek & Nicole had been spending time together, and British Media Outlet B took it a step further and mentioned that Derek was on DWTS, and British Media Outlet C got the message a little garbled and reported that Cheryl might do the show. Just like a possible Johnny Weir & Karina partnership…I just don’t see this one happening.
On a somewhat unrelated note, I hadn’t really seen any pix of Cheryl Cole until now…does she always dress like that? Her hair and wardrobe choice are confusing to mine eyes

She often wears cute dresses, but yes it’s often confusing.
As for the validity of this rumor – that’s why I wrote that convoluted opening. I am very doubtful. The British Press is all kinds of horrendous. The stories they have run are Cheryl was hot for Derek, but then dumped him for Will.i.am because Derek was too jealous, then Derek was moving to London to do SCD to be near her, then Len (and Derek) said they never heard any such thing, then Derek flew over there to dance on tour with her, then he was madly in love, then they were going on holiday together, then he’s getting a long term visa and doing SCD (again), then she’s mad because he keeps trying to live up to Ashley (the ex) then she’s going to Ibisa with Will.i.am, then Derek is moving in….well, you get the picture and I left a lot out. It’s basically a very long “yes he’s her boyfriend/no he’s not” alternating story line. The stories change every single day to the point that it’s absolutely the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.
It’s amusing in way because the British press are all over this girl like she’s the best thing since sliced bread and some of her fans (and some in the press) have implied that Derek is only with her because of her fame. LOL – very few people HERE even know who she is! The DWTS audience, if her name was announced, would be all “Here we go again with having non-celebrities on the show” OR “Geez, the pro dancer is more famous than his celebrity partner.” I do agree that if she’s going to do a dance show it should be SCD – but I doubt that would happen because SCD is in direct competition with Cheryl’s show, X-Factor – direct competition as in airing on the same night and everything. Would DWTS actually hire her because of X-Factor UK? Probably, as long as it was before she was actually ON X-Factor U.S. But I still don’t see it happening. You never know, though.
Aw, Princess Heidi, don’t be too hard on a red blooded boy who happens to fall in love. I mean, gosh, look at her, she’s probably one of the most gorgeous girls on the planet and that cute gordy accent is so darn lovable. I think she’s a 25 year old American ballroom dancer’s (who grew up in England )… dream girl. I do hope that if they’re together they can be bi-continental for the good of both their careers.
I love x factor and Cheryl is the best and my fav judges, but she can’t sing at all, she is a really bad at singing, we don’t know what is true or rumor but moving to london just to be with her is pretty lame

Cancelling good gigs just because you don’t want to leave – IF that is what is happening here – is just plain stupid. But as long as it is only one, I’ll get over it. 
Hey, I’m happy as a clam for him if he’s madly in love and wanting to have babies (as he has commented several times recently, leading me to wonder who he was sending a message to – now we know?) – BUT there is no reason on earth to damage a career to do so. They make these little things called airplanes.
Jeniffer – we don’t know that he’s actually moving to London, you’re right. As for your comments about Cheryl, that’s one of the most irksome things – she seems like a wonderful girl, but Derek is definitely the more talented of the pair and it will kill me if he negatively impacts his career to be with her.

I so agree with you. It is very unsettling to think that Derek seems to be negatively impacting his career to be with her. I just read that he backed out of the Cinderella project and Mark Ballas is stepping in and makes me wonder what is going on with this boy. Cheryl is not even officially divorce and one would think she would take time before jumping into a new relationship after the way Ashley treated her. I can’t blame her for being with Derek, but somehow I am sad to admit if they are truly in a relationship, I see heart break written all over it.
If this is all true I can’t begin to tell you how disappointed in Derek I am. OK be in love with Cheryl or whoever for all I care but do not give up a potentially enormous career to follow her around the world. He has so much going for him here. I just do not understand his thinking, I keep thinking we are all over reacting but we know he is no longer choreo graphing Cinderella, he was suppose to be at 1 charity event that I know of & did not appear & while the tab stories are inflated some of it I know is based on fact. There better be a good explanation of why he pulled out of Cinderella because following Cheryl Cole does not cut it with me. I fear that Derek is in line to be known in the future as Mr Cheryl Cole or Mr Cheryl Tweedy if she goes back to her maiden name. Maybe I’m being overly dramatic but that’s how I see it if this is all true.
