DWTS Season 11 – Spoilers??
You be the judge. Brooke, Derek, Maks and Cheryl were all at the Entertainment Tonight Emmy Party last night and spoke to TV Guide. Tony was there too, but didn’t warrant a mention, apparently. Brooke Burke is either spilling the beans or is Miss Red Herring herself. 
Oh, and Maks? Forgotten Erin so soon? Dude, please tell me you were joking.
Burke, a former winner, admitted “all the rumors seem to be true” regarding the new cast. Most notably, there has been a huge buzz surroundingDWTS‘ most controversial rumored cast member,Jersey Shore‘s Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. When asked why the show’s producers are interested in Sorrentino, Burke pondered, “I think last season kind of proved reality shows and tabloids play a big part of it. Casting is a big part of the success of the show. Everybody seems to be talking more about The Situation than anybody else. I guess it makes sense.”
Chmerkovskiy told TV Guide Magazine he does not care who his new partner is as long as it’s “somebody young, fit, athletic, and really nice.”
He doesn’t ask for much, does he?

Ok, Brooke, not ALL of those rumors are true…for real. Too many flying around for all of them to be spot-on. And I’m not really sure that Brooke would be privy to the identities of the new celebs right away…I don’t see the need for her to be “in the know” until immediately prior to the annoucement…as in the day OF. I think she’s bluffing.
As for The Situation being the most “controversial” potential cast member this season – seriously? People find a tan, decent-looking, hard-partying Italian 20-something to be more offensive than a bankrupt Jersey housewife known for chucking tables in rage or an unwed teenage mother who happens to be the daughter of a disgraced politician? Ooh wee…if that’s the case, then people really have some warped views on stuff…and yes, I’m in a piss poor mood today. I very well might put my foot through the TV during the cast announcement tonight
What annoys me about Maks is something that he probably wouldn’t even understand – and that is, some pros clearly did not make the cut this season or last, yet there he sits saying what he wants or doesn’t want in a partner. That’s just crappy to your fellow professionals. None of the women, nor Derek or Mark would ever say such things. Hell, Derek said he wanted to dance with Bettye White!
Courtney, your TV is not at fault – it’s the producers. Don’t injure an innocent TV.
I’m really curious about this Press Conference format and I wonder if the Pros will be in attendance, or if just some of the cast.

At the risk of defending Maks, he may have already spoken to his partner and said it as a joke (wouldn’t it be funny if it was Florence?). Or he’s just being an ass of course.
Derek may have said that he wanted Betty White because he is very PC. I am going to guess tho that given a choice he would much rather have someone along the type of celeb described by Maks. I doubt he’s been pining away for Betty White as a dance partner.
Not that I even think what he said was a big deal because I don’t, but people should always pay attention to quote marks. He could have easily said he didn’t care who his new partner was and then they could have asked what he saw as the perfect partner? Or..he could have said the whole thing jokingly/cheeky. On the other hand, I read this site often & all the related Maks digs (which I rarely respond to) so arrogant ass is pretty much the only way to go here. ; )
In most work places, if one values their job, PC is the way to be. Plus, when other pros aren’t so lucky, it’s just polite – THAT’S my point. Most people don’t say whatever springs to mind, for lots of important reasons. As for Maks being “misquoted” – he sure suffers from that WAY more often than anyone else? Coincidence? Doubtful.
Rick Fox followed Cheryl and now Cheryl is following him. Coincidence…I think not.
And this is why I rarely comment here. Please note that I never said he was “misquoted”. I said to please look at the way the statement was made and the parts which were “quoted”. Thank you. Additionally, I could see him very easily saying it in a cheeky manner, “I don’t care who my partner is but….etc..etc..”. Just offering up other ways to look at. That’s allowed right?
In regards to Maks keeping his job, he is in his 9th season so I guess he’s doing something right.

Okay, I read this somewhere and it’s probably all wrong, but someone said Maks is being paired with Bristol Palin. I’m also thinking he might be paired with Julie Benz because he’s been photographed with her and Tony at the Emmy party and now he’s tweeting about being in love with her or something.
In regards to him and Erin, that was just another showmance. They never were really dating.
You are talking semantics Michelle – explain to me the difference, in this case, between misquoted and being taken out of context, which is what you *seem* to be saying. It all amounts to the same thing – removing context IS a misquote. Tone, on the other hand, is a different story altogether. His tone could have been joking, sure, but he complains about being misquoted all the time – so how do we know when? Sure it’s allowed – but don’t complain when people disagree. That’s the part people have trouble with.
Yeah, he’s doing something right. For now. Sooner or later he will go too far. He’s never won, either – I wonder if shirt throwing has an impact on that? You have to wonder.

Julie Benz – why do I know that name? As for Maks with Bristol – do we think there is an unknown female who’s with Mark then? Because Audrina and Brandy are apparently too tall. I’ve been talking to Courtney over twitter and we both have a healthy skepticism about who is really in the cast at this point.

I was merely trying to point out that in print especially when there is a lead up to something in quotes that you have to be careful. Additionally, like you said, tone is not taken into account.
I don’t have to wonder about anything in regards to him not winning. He has taken three celebs to the finals so not a bad feat. Yes he has never won but faced tough opposition in one form or another in all three of those cases. So I chalk it up to that rather than any shirt throwing but of course I could be wrong. It’s just my opinion.
I’ve always cut Maks some slack because of language barriors. He does have an ego sometimes. But, he also has a big heart and he’s very compassionate about what he does too. I like him and think he’s one of the best dancers on the show and is one of my favorites. I love his TV Guide blogs too. Sometimes I think he should be a judge.
Adding: and really..when you get down to it. They all have big egos or they wouldn’t be where they are now or as good. Or maybe the better words would be “strong egos”.
And yeah, I’d be careful on the quotes too because he could have meant something different with the “context” he meant.
Oh, I don’t dislike Maks, he just annoys me with what he says a lot of times. But when you’re a big fan of his, any criticism I make at all makes me a “hater” – which is ridiculous. Courtney and I see it every season – we pick on Maks and we are permanent haters, never mind the fact that before last season started I was highly complimentary of him. It’s all black and white, no shades of gray. Love or hate – one or the other. Very simplistic.
I’ve said on more than one occasion that he’s a far better choreographer than Louis is, and I was glad when he did the last tour. His blogs are often what saves him for me – that’s when he has a chance to fully explain what he says. But there is never an excuse for throwing things in the direction of the judges table, especially when you ARE guilty of wasting time in a dance, among other things. Also, having a big ego doesn’t mean you have to express every thought regardless of who it might hurt.
Heidi – Julie Benz used to be in Dexter. She was recently photographed with Maks and Tony at an Emmy party. Maks has tweeted that he has a crush on her or something to that effect. So maybe – just maybe – she’s on the show?
Julie Benz used to be on Dexter, then Desperate Housewives last season. She’s also going to be on a new ABC show this Fall with Michael Chiklis, so that’s probably why she was at the Emmys. Doubt she’ll be on DWTS though.

Heidi, just so you know. I don’t think you are a Maks hater. I’ve seen yopu be complimentary in the past too. Anyway, there are going to be times when we all don’t like some of the things the dancers too. This is going to be a fun season. Once again. I’m so glad I found you all. This is going to be fun.

I have watched every season. The STAR quality drops every season. But this is the last straw for me. I won’t be watching this season. PALIN< what a laugh. To be a star you just need to get pregnant and make a fool of your Mom. Some STAR! LOL
