DWTS 11, Week 3 – Media Roundup After The Results
Lots of media and news tidbits coming your way. First up, Heidi and I found some things on Maks. He was interviewed by E Online after the show. During the interview, he expresses how upset he is by Carrie Anne trying to smack him and criticizing him for his teaching techniques on Monday night’s show. Here is some of what he says….
“It’s an absurdly disrespectful thing for her to even think of doing,” the pro hoofer told us earlier today. “Is she crazy? She’s not my mother.”
“Nobody feels disrespected, nobody feels mistreated, and certainly I’m not an abusive person.”
I’m discouraged because there’s absolutely no consistency. I don’t understand how the scores are being done. I don’t understand why some couples are being kept on the show. I mean, there were other couples yesterday that literally put their heart and soul into it and did a much better job than they got scored. I just feel it’s a little bit unreasonable. Some people get praised for minimal and certain people get put down while having put out a lot more than others. Something’s off.
Barbara Walters was beside herself after seeing Kurt Warner dance on DWTS this week and told her co-hosts that she had a major crush on the former pro quarterback. “I fell in love,” she said during her Dancing with the Stars review Tuesday. “I fell in love with a former football player named Kurt Warner. This man could be a movie star. Look at him! He practiced with his two little girls, how to be ‘delicate,’ he said.”
Was Bruno too harsh on him?” asked host Jay Leno. Florence tried to be even-handed in her reply. First, she stood up for Tonioli’s actions. “Judges are judges,” she said. “You gotta take the criticism.” But then, Henderson smirked and said this: “I do think Bruno may have had a little PMS that night.” Ouch!
Just don’t hold your breath waiting for that apology, Michael. … As reported by ‘People’ magazine, the show’s producers are backing Tonioli. In a statement Wednesday they said that “Bruno’s role as a judge is to give his honest opinions on the quality of the dances he’s judging, which is what he did in this case.” Ouch. The producers then piled on the misery for Bolton: “While we respect the feelings of our celebrities and dancers … we don’t feel Bruno should be expected to apologize for doing his job.”
When asked by an audience member if she would ever join the cast, Palin laughed and said she would have to translate her basketball skills to the dance floor. “They would have to let me dribble back and forth and maybe pivot and do a jump shot or something as part of the routine,” she said. “In fact, when Bristol said, ‘I don’t know how to dance,’ I told her, just think of it as learning some basketball plays.”
Did Todd Palin turn down a spot on “Dancing With The Stars”? Sarah Palin let slip Tuesday that the show’s producers had wanted her husband to be a contestant – but she didn’t say if he was sought out instead of her daughter Bristol, who is currently appearing on the show and narrowly advanced to the fourth week of competition last night.
“We’re doing the sexy dance next week, and I have to get into character,” she says. “Dressing sexy will help me get into character more. Next week, I’ll be dressing sexy. This is it.”
“I’m so happy I can’t tell you. It’s very refreshing after 10 seasons to feel this way. With Audrina, I just feel rejuvenated, I enjoy choreographing for her. We laugh all day.”
On Kate Gosselin he says…
“Oh, even with Kate, I don’t think it was that bad,” says Dovolani, who’s widely considered a nice guy – but did, at one point, temporarily walk off the Gosselin job when she kept questioning his teaching. He adds, “As long as I have somebody who is driving, who wants it really badly, whatever they lack in talent, I can always make them dance.”
But with Audrina, everything is going better. “You know she has no dance background – no performance background – since she’s from a reality show. She came to me as raw as they get. But the thing is, she goes into it headfirst. The way she approaches things – she never gets angry, never gets frustrated with herself, just keeps going ahead. Nothing comes easy to her, but the way she approaches her learning is really amazing. She’s like a sponge, no inhibitions. She doesn’t hold back. She trusts me completely as a teacher. And I feel like I have a real dance partner. It’s not just dancing with a celebrity.”
To read more on their family support, etc., go HERE! If you want to see him showing off his WAXED LEGS, getting them waxed, etc., you can see them HERE. I think I’ll pass if that’s ok.
One more mention, it appears the exposure for Rick Fox on Dancing With The Stars is helping his career as he just landed a new job as a “Guest Analyst” for NBA TV on TNT. His first appearance will be this upcoming Sunday. You can read about his new Gig HERE. Here is mention where he talks on his DWTS experience thus far and a casting suggestion for the show in the future…
Fox calls his dancing experience so far “intense.” He said: “We’ve been going at this for about six weeks, and I can recall maybe one or two days where I’ve had a sense of relaxation, not only physically but mentally. The stress has been there since Day 1.”
He also said he had never considered himself a good dancer. “At parties, I’d be the 6-7 guy who wanted to be a fly on the wall. I’ve had to conquer that fear and force myself to perform.”
Fox said that since he’s working for the national network now and not the Laker network, he has to learn to change his focus. “It’s the NBA as a whole now,” Fox said. “This takes me out of my homer status.”
And Fox has a casting suggestion for “Dancing With the Stars”: Charles Barkley.
“I think Charles would do great on the show,” Fox said. “I think he could dance. And it’s a great way to lose weight. We’ve heard Charles is down over 40 pounds. He could finish off by dancing.”
So, Charles, what do you think? Samba time?
Ok, that’s it for now Folks. Be sure to tell us what you think. Until next time. lol

Great job with the survey. Many thanks,
Wow! That’s a lot of research Vogue! Good job and thanks for doing that!
Loved this posting
. Maks is starting to annoy me this season. Personally, I wouldn’t mid if he didn’t do the show next season and Jonathan or Dimetry or Alec Mazo take his spot next season.
Thanks Guys. Glad you liked it!!
Vin, NO! We NEED MAKS on the show TOO! How about substituting one of those guys for Louis instead? lol
I’m actually with Maks on this one – I thought people made far too big of a deal out of his teaching methods & what I would consider rather playful slapping. If Brandy’s ok with it, I’m ok with it. And the whole Carrie Ann trying to slap Maks on the ass thing? It just kinda seemed like a desperate ploy from Carrie Ann the cougar to get attention. Sometimes I wonder about that woman…the things she says and does just strike me as a bit desperate from time to time.
I also agree about the inconsistent scoring, but really – I don’t think that’s anything that’s going to change anytime soon. As long as they keep storyboarding and subtly trying to sway the voting public, there will always been over and under-scoring. May as well accept that it’s just part of the show.
In regards to Boltongate, I’m seriously wondering if Bruno issued a PRIVATE apology to Michael…because I was honestly surprised that Michael came back to perform at the last minute after such an acrimonious exit from the show. He didn’t even do any of the post-show media. The producers may be publicly standing behind Bruno, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they urged him to suck it up and say “I’m sorry” to Michael in private in order to secure him as a replacement for Susan Boyle.
Barbara Walters (and really anyone who is or has ever been on The View) just annoys me. All of them tend to have diarrhea of the mouth from time to time, and end up just sounding like they don’t really know what they’re talking about. Margaret Cho = bisexual, and supportive of LGBT causes. Not the same as being “openly gay”.
I bet Bolton did NOT get an apology. He’s a has been playing Iowa, he’s not a Michael Buble playing Madison Square Gardens. Divas like him, Donny Osmond and their ilk have been known to have a specific number of weeks written into their dwts contract, so that their egos stay relatively in tact. He was most likely fulfilling week 3.
@Andie – He may or may not have gotten an apology, but I sincerely doubt he was fulfilling some contractual obligation. It would be nary impossible to guarantee a specific number of weeks to a particular celeb on a show like this – if they’re bad, they’re gonna get sent home. Susan Boyle getting sick was a fluke – had she been well, there would have been no need for Michael, and thus no opportunity to fulfill his “3rd week”. DWTS is big enough now on its own that I honestly don’t think they would pander to a contractual demand like that, and I don’t think “divas” like Donny, Michael, or their “ilk” would make that kind of demand in order to keep their egos “relatively intact”. So based on what you’re saying…had it been Michael Buble that had been ridiculed by Bruno, he would’ve gotten an apology since he’s “playing Madison Square Gardens”, but because Michael Bolton is playing in Iowa, he doesn’t deserve one? That sounds a little cold.
The reviews were good, I agree the judges have no real consistant numbers, I do think if Bristo Palin is voted off this week I hope, it will make a big difference in how the judges award their votes.
The problem is Bristol and Sarah are there for ratings, but as far as I can see that seems to be the problem. Also, if you read many outside the box reviews of how people see Bristol she should be not even on the show.
If you have a deal signed that Bristol is off limits to critizim then you have a problem. The whole DWTS has a problem of being fair to the other dancers.
Candies, certainly do not have a good spokesman for teens, Bristol has done nothing but exploit her pregrancy and if she is going to show all this week, what about her contract and image to young teens, I say Bristol gives off the wrong message.
The other dancers do deserve to be treated with respect and they do work harder, Bristol is to busy playing the event. Shy people do not exploit themself,
Margaret gave it her all after she got the message. Florence, I hope she continues, I admire her and after all she is star.
Thank you all for your observations.
Lets dance and wishing all the REAL STARS good luck
Good grief, Rob – LET IT GO. We get it – you don’t like Bristol or Sarah. But for pete’s sake quit harping on how they’re responsible for everything that’s wrong with DWTS…I feel like every single comment you make is another tyrade about them. Bristol is on the show, like it or not, and she’s been criticized just like all the other celebs. She is not behind every single unfair critique or score the judges give. ALL the dancers deserve respect – not just what you call the “real stars”. I have respect for anyone brave enough to step outside their comfort zone on national television. If you’re truly about the dancing, talk about the dancing – not just Bristol.
@Courtney : insider scuttlebutt is that some of the more “famous” celebrities have been able to negotiate riders in their contracts in the way a Margaret Cho cannot. I don’t know the truth of it, but I do wonder at why the judging happens. Could be that Mr 57 million records sold was bragging about a fanbase. Hey, this early in the competition if Osmond scored a 12 he’d be safe. In fact, Steve Wozniak in season 8 got some of the worst criticism ever, scored the lowest score ever, a 10 and was safe.
What do you think would be Bolton’s choice? Sing in front of 20 million, or 1500 in Iowa? Please, last minute? He was dying to do it.
Oh, found Steve Wozniak’s Samba that scored 10 and he survived to week 4.
Bruno said virtually the same thing to him. Worst Samba he’s ever seen.
I don’t like Louis either lol The only time I actually was rooting for him was when he danced with Kelly Osbourne. Maks is a great dancer (and nobody can take that from him ever) but he needs to really work on being more personable sometimes. Last season he was so much nicer than he is this season (at least in my opinion). On the flip side, he provides good entertainment so they need him. As for who can replace Louis next season, i hope its Alex cuz they aren’t really that much differnt in height and he has tons more personality.
Courtney, I couldn’t agree more with you about Barbara and The View!! lol to them ‘having diarrhea of the mouth from time to time’. That is especially true of Elizabeth. lol
Vin – “hope its Alex cuz they aren’t really that much differnt in height and he has tons more personality” If you mean Alec ROFLLLLL Boy, if Alec is the one with personality, that’s not saying much at all about Louis
Don’t get me wrong, I like Alec as a dancer, but Mr. Personality ??? ROFL You are too funny
Thanks for all this hard work, Vogue – this is all great stuff. Thanks <3
Ahhh Linde, thank you very much. I’m so green with some of the technical stuff, etc. But, I hope to get that worked out soon. Thanks all for being patient with me.xxx
I meant Alec lol. I can see where you are coming from based on evey partner he has had besides Kelly Monaco for sure. After kelly they gave him people that he didn’t seem to “click” with (with maybe the exception of Tony Braxton who really should have gone farther than she did and made Alec really think out of the box (as seen in her Marie Antionettelike dance…….I can’t remeber what it was but I do remeber the big hair and the dress she wore since it lookedl ike a halloween costume). When he danced with Kelly, he had a lot of personality and was very likeable. But thats just my opinion since I know people that really don’t like Alec but love Louis’s personality at the same time.
