DWTS on Extreme Makeover Home Edition

As some of you probably know, some of the DWTS pros were on Extreme Makeover Home Edition tonight helping build a house for a family who’s father started a program called “Move to the Grove” to fight childhood obesity. Several months ago Derek tweeted that he was watching the show and it was making him tear up and that he’d like to be on it. Well, he made it happen and he got Mark, Chelsie, Tony and Anna involved as well. It’s mainly Derek, but the second, edited video has all the pros that were involved. If you want to see the rest of the Derek bits, visit purederekhough.com. If you missed the show you can probably watch the whole thing on abc.com tomorrow.

And Derek tweeted 2 pictures tonight!

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Season 11, Week 5

I bit on both the results show and the performance show from The Orlando Sentinel:

2. Eight couples remain on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” the country’s most popular series. Starting at 8 p.m. Monday, they will perform dances, from the tango to the foxtrot, set to TV themes. ABC listed “Bewitched,” “Friends” and “The Brady Bunch” as examples. Florence Henderson, the mom on “The Brady Bunch,” is a contestant.

Tuesday’s results show, at 9 p.m., will feature Jason Derulo singing “In My Head” and “Georgia on My Mind.” Shakira will contribute “Loca.” And one celebrity will be dropped.

DWTS Season 11, Week 5 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?

I’m really close to removing the “when” part of the title, since Cheryl (and sometimes Anna) seems to be the only one kind enough to share their dance order. We’ll give it one more try. :-) IF/when the couples reveal the dance order, I will update the post. :-)

Brandy/Maks: Quickstep – Dancing FIRST
Song: Theme from Friends I'll
Note: Maks says their dance has “a message” – why does that word now frighten me?? :-)

Bristol/Mark: Jive
Song: Mark says sitcom from the 60′s. Any guesses?
Note: Mark says they’re doing something never before done on DWTS. Is he taking his shirt off? Oh…wait… :-)

Jennifer/Derek: Foxtrot
Song – something by Sinatra. Love and Marriage??
Note 1: Derek tweeted on Thursday night that he and Jen “got into it” for five minutes and then everything was better than before. But watch that 5 minutes turn into their entire package. Place your bets. :-)
Note 2: This article , which references ET Online, claims that it’s a tribute to a 50′s TV Couple, so doesn’t that rule out Love and Marriage? Could the be doing a tribute to the Lucy Show (google is your friend) but using Love and Marriage? Google kinda failed me here. :-) Any ideas? Note that the ET Online video never has either Derek or Jennifer saying “the 50′s”.

Audrina/Tony: Rumba
Song: Theme song to The Hills (Natasha Beddingfield’s “Unwritten” Unwritten)

Kyle/Lacey: Foxtrot
Song: Well, Sherry Wight says that it’s Charlie’s Angels Charlie's, although I don’t think that Kyle and Lacey ever cop to anything other than the 70′s.

Florence/Corky: Argentine Tango
Song: One website claims Brady Bunch, but Florence and Corky indicate that it could be Adams Family Theme since Brady Bunch Theme hasn’t cleared yet.

Rick/Cheryl: Rumba – Dancing 6th
Song: Theme from Hill Street Blues Hill

Kurt/Anna: Quickstep – Dancing 3rd
Song: Theme from Bewitched Theme. They aren’t saying, but I think Anna unwittingly gives TMI. :-) And of course George gets it.

DWTS, Season 11, Week 5 – Media Tidbits Before Show

Just a few things to share here and there before “the calm before the storm” tomorrow night!! How is everyone doing on this Sunday?

First up, we have a fun article on Florence talking about how close she’s become to Bristol from Hollywood Life. Here is a snippet.

“I’ve bonded with most of them but I have a special connection with Bristol,” she told HollywoodLife.com “She has gravitated towards me. She always comes and sits next to me.”

Awww, that sounds cute. Florence, who is well known for her portrayal of Carol Brady on the hit family sit-com The Brady Bunch from 1969-1974, explained why Bristol struck a chord inside her.

“I think I feel very motherly toward her,” she said.

Here’s Florence on the challenge it’s been to dance.

So far, Florence has managed to cheat elimination on DWTS and explained she’s been working extra hard to keep up with her younger counterparts, who at times can’t even sit up!

“I think it is a challenge for everybody not just me. I see a lot of the younger ones sitting all slumped over. Certainly I feel sore and tired. I think the experience is going well for me,” she said. “[The show has made me] a better dancer and a much stronger person. In addition to [dancing] 4 or 5 hours a day, I have to get on the treadmill before I get there for 40 minutes.”

But, this snippet got me a little steamed this morning. Look what Joan Rivers tweeted about Florence. Geez, what is Joan’s problem? I use to think Joan was kind of funny. But, lately she makes these malicious, ‘over the top’ snarly remarks on people even more than she’s done in the past. Why is that?

Wow, sounds like Florence is kicking butt, but her hard work hasn’t kept her from being picked on for her less-than-youthful appearance by TV personality, Joan Rivers. Joan took to her Twitter to let everyone know she thinks Flo should retire her dancing shoes.

“Thinking about DWTS. Florence Henderson should be the next one voted off just for shaking those tired old boobs around the dance floor,” she wrote.

The nerve …as if Joan River’s set of b**bs are any better whether she is shaking them or not?? :o

If you haven’t read yet, this week there were some rumors circulating that there is something going on between Kyle and Lacey romantically. But, Lacey has told sources that Kyle is only like a little brother to her and nothing else. There is a cute spread of the two in the Daily Mail. Here they are eating junk food. I think if DWTS were to give out “The Most Funny Couple” on the show this year, it would have to be this one. Do you agree? Again, don’t miss these two on The Ellen Show tomorrow before the show.

Ok, that is it for now. Maybe more later. ;)

I'm a fashion and music fan....and I have always loved dancing too of any kind. Dancing With The Stars seems to have this way of bringing all of those things together. One of my favorite dancing quotes at the moment: "No matter what, nobody can take away the dance you've already had...." ~Gleb Savchenko . For fun music and dance mixes, visit WilUnleashed Soundcloud.
