DWTS Season 11, Week 5 – Who’s Dancing What…and When?
I’m really close to removing the “when” part of the title, since Cheryl (and sometimes Anna) seems to be the only one kind enough to share their dance order. We’ll give it one more try. 
IF/when the couples reveal the dance order, I will update the post.
Brandy/Maks: Quickstep – Dancing FIRST
Song: Theme from Friends 
Note: Maks says their dance has “a message” – why does that word now frighten me??
Bristol/Mark: Jive
Song: Mark says sitcom from the 60′s. Any guesses?
Note: Mark says they’re doing something never before done on DWTS. Is he taking his shirt off? Oh…wait…
Jennifer/Derek: Foxtrot
Song – something by Sinatra. Love and Marriage??
Note 1: Derek tweeted on Thursday night that he and Jen “got into it” for five minutes and then everything was better than before. But watch that 5 minutes turn into their entire package. Place your bets.
Note 2: This article , which references ET Online, claims that it’s a tribute to a 50′s TV Couple, so doesn’t that rule out Love and Marriage? Could the be doing a tribute to the Lucy Show (google is your friend) but using Love and Marriage? Google kinda failed me here. Any ideas? Note that the ET Online video never has either Derek or Jennifer saying “the 50′s”.
Audrina/Tony: Rumba
Song: Theme song to The Hills (Natasha Beddingfield’s “Unwritten” )
Kyle/Lacey: Foxtrot
Song: Well, Sherry Wight says that it’s Charlie’s Angels , although I don’t think that Kyle and Lacey ever cop to anything other than the 70′s.
Florence/Corky: Argentine Tango
Song: One website claims Brady Bunch, but Florence and Corky indicate that it could be Adams Family since Brady Bunch hasn’t cleared yet.
Rick/Cheryl: Rumba – Dancing 6th
Song: Theme from Hill Street Blues
Kurt/Anna: Quickstep – Dancing 3rd
Song: Theme from Bewitched . They aren’t saying, but I think Anna unwittingly gives TMI. And of course George gets it.
Yes, Heidi. That 5 minutes is all they’ll show, just like Nicole and Derek last season. BUT, Derek is smart enough to tweet about it so that everyone knows that that is not ALL that happened.
But people may still blow it out of proportion. They are most likely people looking for reasons not to like them. It is TV theme song week. They may have “Love and Marriage” but they do not need to incorporate that show into their routine. I am guessing they will incorporate another famous sitcom couple as their inspiration but not Al and Peg Bundy.
Is it just me or is it hard to picture some of these dances to some of these songs …especially The Brady Bunch theme to a Tango (if Florky was able to clear it and I bet they did)?
The Bewtiched song is going to fit Anna so well. I hope she will twitch her nose.
And yeah, Derek is so smart to start tweeting on the fight scene early in case the producers try to sensationalize it.

Yeah, that was hilarious, Heidi about Mark. I swear, looking at him, he was thinking in a childish manner, “I can be sexy too, ladies!” and I had the same reaction to when Derek took off his shirt on the samba with Joanna. I thought, “Dude, put that away! There are children watching!” It was atrocious, any guys out there agree? Now why can’t the ladies do tricks. I mean, not like take their top off, but show some leg or something! Kind of like Bristol’s cha cha! Do I sense sexism here? LOL
But watch that 5 minutes turn into their entire package.
Oh, you mean like they’ve been doing to Brandy and Maks all season? Why everyone expects these long, grueling and intense practice sessions NOT to have some … um… upheaval is beyond me. God, none of them are robots – no, not even Bristol who you all seem to enjoy disliking but I think is doing pretty damned good – they’re all entitled to have flare-ups, I’d worry if there were none.
And I thought I heard Florence say in one of the paparazzi vid packages that the “The Brady Bunch” had been cleared that morning – Friday, was it?
I actually like Bristol. I am hoping she can break through to make a name for her own. And no, I’m not talking any thing on politics. I am politically neutral. This is strictly dancing. Bristol hasn’t done anything worth me getting angry over. She’s very shy and Mark’s very, um, angry. Seriously, Bristol needs a new partner. I like Mark, don’t get me wrong, but he just needs a breather.
I will say that this week is Bristol’s make it or break it week. If she breaks it, she’s out. Once again, I can’t make this clearer. I am speaking for myself: MY THOUGHTS ON BRISTOL HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS. Just in case, anyone wants to say anything negative. LOL
I hate when producers give repeated songs. I will never forget helio and julianne’s bewitched foxtrot. Never. This is THE fox to this song.
Ha, Carlos! I thought of Helio too! Never liked him but that was a DEBUT dance!
Nathan – I agree with you about Bristol. This is the week she needs to show some personality and this is the dance to do it. But I’m worried, since Mark is apparently using some kind of gimmick. Not sure what it all means, but it can’t be good for Bristol. Their storyline fox trot would have been better had there been some kind of story (hello Mark); the Rumba would have worked better had there not been so much raw sex, which everyone on the planet knew was going to make Bristol uncomfortable (remember that beautiful Rumba with Shawn – hello Mark!). She’s got to really shine with this jive, but like I’ve said – I’m worried for our girl Bristol this week. Mark has checked out. He needs to take a break – no shame in that. Everyone suffers from burn out now and again. Too bad for Bristol, for whom I was rooting because she was so far out of her comfort zone and trying, I think, to break free and become more independent, far from her family circus. My original thought – way back when the celebrity cast was first announced – was that Bristol would be great paired with Louis. I’m thinking that again – she would have blossomed more with Louis, I think, and he would have done better with her as well, IMHO.
I agree with you, Nathan. This IS Bristol’s week to make or break it. I think that Mark is angry as well, but I think he’s angry because Bristol’s not getting a fair shake from the judges. They don’t seem to be recognising the strides she’s making. And Mark’s a protective sort towards his partners. He knows how very shy she. I dunno, I just find the judges to be a little more biting and bitchy this season than seasons past and it’s a little more obvious who they want to stay and who to go than it has been. (Really, who piddled in Bruno’s cornflakes?) I wonder if being #1 in the ratings has gone to their and the production staff’s heads? They need to stick with what got them there, IMHO, not try and create drama.
Sometimes, it just seems to me that if your name isn’t Derek and Jennifer, then you’re going to get mean digs sent your way.
Nathan, I loved Helio, not just because I’m brazilian too, but because he has charisma like no other on that season – or just Sabrina…
I also liked Mel B, but Maksim was an incredible and extremely cocky that season, what makes me deslike the couple.
C’mon, Helios was with JULIANNE! How can’t I love her? =p
I think that Bruno is completely insane this season on a bad way… hehehe
I disagree about Mark and (all) his partners… I don’t think he liked Melissa JH that much… Don’t know if you remind, but he should partner Kelly O. but she asked the producers to not be partnered with a “young guy” (don’t remember exactaly her words) because of her boyfriend
Linde, Bristol and Louis would have been a better pairing. I agree how he could have helped her blossom like he did Kelly O.
Whatever Mark’s problem is, his head is not into it (except for that first pro dance that Maks choreographed…I loved that). Anyway, it’s time to give him a break and bring a new dancer in or someone from the past like Damen W.
Good one, Vogue! I don’t know why they didn’t bring Damien back! He did great with Pamela. And if he were to have a better partner, he could’ve had a shot! Heidi, you’ll probably cringe, but I think they need Dmitry back. I’m glad he’s still being punished for that horrendous freestyle with Mya. But hopefully, he’ll have learned his lesson and come back soon! And what happened to Elena? She was good too, but had terrible partners?
I hope that its the Addams family theme song for Florence and Corky…..i just can’t picture an argentine tango to the brady bunch theme. They should save that for her jive lol. For Bristol and Mark I hope its green acres or the dick van dyke show theme song lol….they seem to fit a jive better .

And I think Mark didn’t really give 100% last seaon with Mellisa Joan Hart (aka sabrina the teenage witch….im a 90s kid so couldn’t help throwing that in there lol). The onlyp artners I remeber him giving 100% were kristi, shawn, and sabrina. Personally, i think he is giving bristol decent choregorpahy but to quote Len or Bruno (cannot remeber which one said it lol) its gotta be “less me and more we”.
The difference, Evaine, being that Maks is the only one of all of them that seems to give them material every single week, season after season, and then complains about his edit. That’s a big difference.
As for Bristol, I think you should NOT paint a whole group with one brush. There are plenty of people here, myself included, that are and have been rooting for Bristol.
Well, Nathan, Derek was dancing the Lambada and it’s often danced shirtless. Since that was the first and only time Derek has gone shirtless in 7 seasons, I can deal. It’s when it seems like it’s getting to be a habit that I wonder.
That said, while Mark often dresses more down than Derek, I don’t think he’s done it often. It’s just in the middle of the Rumba it seemed out of place and desperate.
Nathan, I don’t dislike Dmitry at all, I just find him to be too quiet and kinda boring.
Mentioned this elsewhere on this blog, but I think Bristol would make a cute Mary Ann and Mark could really lighten up as Gilligan. Lord knows he needs to – lighten up that is! ( And I don’t mean like Lacey’s hair!) 60′s sitcom – check; a jive number – maybe not. I can’t see anyone else doing Gilligan again and they did say no one else would do it. Love the idea of Green Acres though! I would love to see them do The Adams Family too!

Ballroom with a twist does look cool. Too bad all of the locations are in Canada right now. No US dates.
Heidi, you’re right. Derek and Mark haven’t done it much. And it did seem out of place with Bristol. But it is what it is. Maybe I felt (and I’m speaking for myself) that Derek actually seemed a bit desperate with Joanna and votes that he decided to up his votes there. But, I never liked Joanna so I am being totally hard on Derek for no reason. That’s my boy! I hate saying “Dog” because it’s just weird. So, I’m sticking with “Boy”. Any suggestions out there?
But, I had a problem with Joanna from day 1, so I never hopped on their wagon. Season 9 in general was just, terrible IMHO. The front runner’s choreographer screwed up the freestyle, the most undeserving (IMO) “dancer” won, and attitudes/unmemorable performances throughout the season. I’m happy that’s in the past.

John, I agree about PETA!!! I ran onto a “dancing shoe “deal (which I plan to post in the Costume post Wednesday) that has her in it. They mention her dancing in pro numbers on Dances with the Stars this year which I didn’t realize she had? I’ve been following her on Twitter and Facebook. She’s so quiet about everything. I wish she’d tell us when she’s going to be dancing on the show.

BTW guys, the reason Maks said his dance has a message is because his grandma died on Wednesday. And since him and BRandy are dancing to the theme of Friends , which repeats over and over again ” I’ll be there for you”, thats probably his message
Good point, Greg – I almost forgot about that.
And boy oh boy, didn’t that work out for them just right. The “friends” theme hit a home run for them. I suppose that puts the romantic link rumors to rest – I believe they are great (platonic) friends and in light of Maks’ recent loss, I think their friendship really came to light … not only in this dance, but between them.
Wonder why Florky had a Tango and not A.Tango.
