DWTS Season 11 – Weekend Media Updates & Prediction Question
Two more days until our Semi-Final DWTS Show!! Even as whacked and frustrating as this Season is, this is getting more exciting by the day. So, if you were to rank how this Season is going to turn out for who will win right now (not who your favorites are) in order, how would you rank the final four? Get your predictions in now and then at the end of this Season in two weeks, we can look back and see who was right.
Here’s how I would rank them;
1st place: Jennifer and Derek
2nd place: Brandy and Maks
3rd place: Kyle and Lacey
4th place: Bristol and Mark
The inspiration for this question comes from a prediction Kelly Osbourne made on The Ellen Show yesterday. From Zap2it.
“You never know with that show,” says Osbourne. “It’s crazy you don’t always see what the people see at home and why they vote. You never really understand, but I definitely think that Jennifer Grey is going to be in the finals. As for the winner, I really feel like Bristol Palin is going to give everyone a run for his or her money…I have to say this you have to separate the person from the family. She’s out there and she’s trying.”

Anyways, the final 4, as of now, stands as:
1. Bristol Palin
2. Jennifer Grey
3. Brandy
4. Kyle MasseyJennifer Grey, alongside her partner, has been doing a phenomenal job and has earned applause from all quarters. She is one of the likely finalists and has a hefty chance of picking the trophy.
While Bristol Palin is unlikely to make it to the finals, Brandy is likely to make the cut unless Kyle Massey comes up with a better show. Though, a lot may transpire in the final few episodes, Jennifer and Brandy seem the two hot favourites at the moment.
Maks’ new blog is up on TV Guide. He writes that everything is fine with Carrie Anne. He also writes on the backlash. It’s sad how people have sent him “hate” tweets. Go ahead and disagree with him or any of the dancers. But, to sign up at Twitter just to send them “I hate you” tweets is just sad and low in my opinion. Be sure to read more on everything Maks says at the link. Here are some takes on he and Brandy’s upcoming dances and what he says about the “hate” tweets and negativity. (Heidi Editorial Note: He’s definitely not the only one who has people signing up just to send hate. He should read Derek’s or Mark’s @replies once in a while – or any other pros. As such, I don’t know if it can really be labeled “backlash” against a specific person – more like a hazard of the internet, sadly. Relax Maks – it’s not just you.)
We have the paso doble and the Argentine tango next week. We’ve finished the paso and are working on the tango now. We’re dedicating the paso to everybody who’s been bullied. I thought it was great for that particular message. We’re taking a risk with our interpretation. Will the audience get it? Will the judges get it? I don’t know. But it’s something Brandy and I clicked on. We spoke a lot about it and we went through tough, tough moments in our lives, but we came out on top. I want kids to understand that you have to speak up — let your voice be heard. Don’t be silent and wallow. Talk because there are people who care and who will listen. Our Argentine tango will be traditional. I think it’s going to be fun. We just want to do a good tango. The paso — we want to get people out of their seats.
Right now, Brandy and I are just focused on the semifinal. We’re not thinking about the final yet. if we go through to the finale, it would be cool and it’s definitely our goal, but we can’t look too far ahead. I need to take everything one step at a time because, as I’ve mentioned, this season has been very tough on all of us pros. Yesterday, I was at my worst. I was ridiculous. I was mentally and physically done. It’s really hard. No one — absolutely no one — understands what we go through no matter who you are. You haven’t been in our shoes. You have no idea how difficult it is. When you get to the final, you are so drained that you become a shell of a person. You’re on complete autopilot. Once it’s over, you go, “I have absolutely no idea how I did.” I love our fans. I love my fans. I love seeing what they like, bad or good. The positive stuff gives me a good reinforcement and tells me I’m doing something right. Most of the negativity I laugh at because it’s so stupid or unreasonable since these people clearly don’t know anything about ballroom dancing or what we go through. It’s funny to me that there’s so much negativity spewed at everyone. Why don’t you get up and try to do what we do? People judge me for being a certain way. Honestly at this point, I really don’t care. I only care about what Brandy thinks right now. I know what my past partners think and how good our relationships are — and people are still speculating about how we supposedly “hate” each other and whatnot. I love when I get tweets from people who say they created a Twitter account just to tell me they hate me. If you hate me, why waste your time making an account to tell me? If I hated someone, I would never waste time doing that. It’s really amazing the lengths people go to behind the protection and anonymity of the Internet to be mean. But I’m not letting those people get to me. I’m just focused right now on Monday. I’m tired. Brandy’s tired. But I know we will bring our best next week.
Oh, and I ran onto this fun interview with Len Goodman at the Daily Mail on how he got into dancing. He traded his welding career in for dancing…and yes, to meet GIRLS. lol Here is an excerpt. How, I wonder, did he get into ballroom dancing? Did girls play a part, by any chance?
‘I was 21 and working as a welder, but had hurt my foot playing football. The doctor recommended ballroom dancing, of all things, to strengthen it. My first reaction was “Not on your nelly”, but someone told me there would be girls there and I thought, “Ah-ha”. I went into the class with a winklepicker on one foot and my dad’s carpet slipper on the other.’
He was a natural, and was paired with the dance-school owner’s daughter, Cherry. There was no shortage of enthusiasm – either for Cherry, who became his first wife, or for the dancing.
Len quickly established himself as one of the characters of the ballroom-dancing scene. He fizzes with anecdotes about those days, laughing himself silly about the day he tried to bribe the lighting people to shine the spotlight on him for an entire routine.

Sorry Bruce, I disagree with your order. No way is Bristol going to place second. She should never have gone this far, she just cannot dance. Brandy is not really a great dancer, just watch her videos, she doesn’t seem like it comes natural to her. Jennifer on the other hand, is elegant, and has a sensuality to her dance. I really think she is going to win! Deservingly so. Brandy toots her own horn and keeps saying how she wants it more than anyone, when I really don’t think she is a good dancer, she has improved somewhat, but she is not the dancer that Jennifer is. I am not just saying this, look at the comparisons.
What i fear will happen is:
1st place: Bristol and Mark
2nd place: Jennifer and Derek
3rd place: Brandy and Maks
4th place: Kyle and Lacey
What I HOPE will happen is:
1st place: Jennifer and Derek
2nd place: Brandy and Maks

I would not be upset if Brandy and Maks were to win, but I truly believe the dances by Jennifer and Derek have been more exciting and “cheer-worthy”. Since I am not a dancer, that is pretty much what I go by even if technically I miss the mark.
I agree with most of you in the notion that this season has been “wacked”. Once I convinced myself it doesn’t really matter who wins, and force myself to enjoy it with no investment in the outcome…I sure enjoy it more. I’m constantly telling myself to look at Bristol as just a young girl, and pretend I don’t know anything about her family. It does help. Geez, talk about denial. It’s a shame you have to divorce yourself from reality in order to get through this.

Carlie, it has actually crossed my mind a few times that Brandy could be in danger this week – much like I kept worrying about Audrina. I must say, as much as I think Maks has acted like an ass recently, that would be damn shame. She and Jennifer should be the final two left standing – if that happens, I won’t be upset if Jennifer doesn’t win. Of course, I’ll still vote like a madwoman.

I I mean I just think if it came down to Jennifer and Brandy I would tend to route for Brandy just to give Maks a freakin trophy. Hes been in the finals three times! Kim, so what? That doesn’t give them an edge. Jennifer and Derek have people from all over the world voting for them too. Bristol has the Tea Party, big or small, who knows? There is absolutely no need to break it down by race – all the couples have groups supporting them. There will be people who will vote for AND against, based on race – but I think those people are in the minority. I hope they are, because that is racist in my book, either way. And I don’t think it’s a good discussion for this message board.

Zach, asking a logical question is not defensive at all – it’s a logical question. You support Bristol loudly and vocally. Yet you don’t want Derek to win because he’s won before. But Mark has too – anyone with a brain would wonder if you were being a hypocrite. That’s it. And just because someone questions you, it’s not automatically defensive – that’s a cop out accusation. We’re having a discussion here. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn’t mean they are “mad” either – adults disagree all the time, that’s life.
As for Maks – if he deserves the trophy, then he should get it. But up to now I don’t think he’s deserved it, except maybe with Mel B. But handing someone a trophy just because they’ve never won before is just childish. If that were the case, why not keep Kurt and give it to Anna?

Yea thats true. And I also see where your coming from. Jennifer is a great dancer and if she won it, it would be earned, same for Brandy. At this point, No Bristol and Mark do not deserve to win and wether they even deserve to be in the final, That all depends on what happens monday. Kyle has two harder dances. One, Lacey has not cheorgraphed ” The A. Tango ” or atleast on DWTS, whereas Bristol has Paso and Waltz wich are probly a little easier. Im glad to know where we stand because I really wasnt trying to start an argument. Just a dicussion.
I agree with Vogue’s ordering. I think that Jennifer & Derek have simply danced better than the others. In the end, I think that having Maks as a partner will be a drag on Brandy – his little temper tantrums just turn me off. And if Bristol winds up winning…. well, I don’t even want to THINK about that!

Based on what I have enjoyed watching this season and the ‘ups and downs’ of each celeb learning their dances, I’d rank them:
1) Jennifer and Derek
2) Kyle and Lacey
3) Brandy and Maks
4) Bristol and Mark
I have never enjoyed watching Bristol dance nor Mark’s choreography this season. But I won’t take away that she has improved and worked hard over the course of the season. I put Kyle over Brandy because I think it might have been more difficult for Lacey to teach Kyle ballroom/latin AND make it look great on the dancefloor. Kyle doesn’t have a graceful looking body, but he does look graceful when he dances somehow. Brandy has done great this season and does deserve to make the final (and I do think she could be the final 2), but I’ve enjoyed watching Kyle and Jennifer’s performances more than hers. For me, Jennifer should win because she is gorgeous to watch and Derek consistently teaches her difficult choreography that she pulls off. Unlike with Nicole last season, Jennifer has had very low points in this competition, but she keeps coming back to prove she deserves to stay in the competition. If the producers hadn’t kept highlighting her pain, age, and hardships throughout the season and shown lighthearted packages that makes everyone feel good, I bet Jennifer would be far and away the favorite to win the MBT.

I don’t want Bristol in the finals. Kyle, Brandy and Jennifer deserve to be there because they are the best dancers left. It was nice to see Bristol come out of her shell but this is a dance competition. I want to see the best dancers out there battle the freestyle round!
Carlie and Heidi’s predictions are scarying me about Maks and Brandy leaving this week. *NO CRIESSSS NO*
My predictions for the final 3 Are (1 being who i think is going to win, 2 being who i believe will be the runner up and 3 being the 2nd runner up):
1) Jenniffer and Derek: they are unstopable (w the notable exception of her paso doble which was way undersocred but wasn’t her best dance this season at all). It looks liek derek is going to be the first pro to win 3 times.
2) Kyle and Lacey: He really is good and is a natual entertainer.
3) Maks and Brandy: Brandy has grown on me but after last week Maks is really annoying me.
If Bristol makes it to the final 3 then it will be as follows:
1) jen and derek
2) maks and brandy
3)bristol and mark (this would be an interesting freestyle lol)
Bristol is not a horrible dancer but Audrina should be still in the competition rightn ow not her. I have 2 admit that she is not the best dancer though…she kinda reminds me of kelly osbourne. On a side note, Enrique’s cd is AMAZING.
Vogue, I wouldn’t call it a prediction as much as I would call it a fear. I would be lying if I didn’t say that it had crossed my mind.
Yes, it has been on my mind, too (that Brandy & Maks may be going home this week). I’d hate to think it was because of the “heavy drama”, but there are so many people who are offended by that kind of verbal sparring. It would be a shame, but it may happen.
Elmari, I agree about the producers have an impact on how people vote. They definitely influence how the public perceives these people by showcasing specific themes in the taped practice sessions. Too bad they decided to make Jennifer appear in such a bad light. Very manipulative.

This is not a professional ballroom dancing competition so I believe performance and stage presence will be just as important as technique.
Well I want Brandy and Maks to win, but I think Jennifer has the best shot and probably will win. And you know what? It will be well deserved. Derek is my boy! (Side note: When I say “boy”, I mean it as “dawg” “homie”, etc just so no one misunderstands, thanks). And I will be very happy for him to win 3 times! He, in my honest opinion, is the best pro on that show, male or female. So, I’ll be happy for him.
So, I too worry for Brandy and Maks this week and I’ll vote my butt off for them. I’ll say this again, If Marie Osmond made the final 3, then Bristol will surely make the final 3. And who knows? Sadly, if she wins, it is because A) She has a huge following or B) Gave the best freestyle and performed her best when it mattered. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bristol wins at all.
But the dark horse is Kyle. If he nails his dances, that main demographic that watches this show will drop all the females in a heart beat and vote for a man.
I’ll be happy with Jennifer winning. She is the best. But, since I’m a Brandy supporter (music, etc) I’m backing up Brandy and Maks. And yes, Mel B was ROBBED!!!!
I honestly have no clue even to guess. Everyone has their own distinct advantage. Kyle has likability, Bristol has the “common folk” vote, Jennifer is probably the best dancer ability wise and Brandy.. hm, what does she have? Maks? Good dancing skills + passion to win it? I dunno, she is the only one for whom I can’t pinpoint what her advantage is over the others. Maybe that’s a clue to something. I would like Kyle to win, but that could also change next week. It has changed for me before.
My problem with Maksim is he’s very passional and this goes against him because he says something wrong and as he’s beetle-head, he can’t truly apologize, even when knowing he’s wrong. (that “sorry, BUT” that someone said).
Nevertheless I think he’s a great professional and dances very well.
BUT (LOL) I also have to say that I don’t think his choreographies are as good as they used to be on previous seasons (and I’m not talking about season 9, but S4, S5…).
I do know that this experience is exausting for pros, but… we want to see new choreos not just a recycling of a previous one…
I can imagine brandy (or even audrina) paired with derek or mark… these girls would be on finale without a doubt/all this drama… IMO
Wow! It’s such a treat to read what people think the order will be and why! Most people have been very objective in their reasoning, and yet not everyone agrees. Awesome!
So here’s what I would like to see based on dancing ability and performance:

2. Brandy and Maks
3. Kyle and Lacey
4. Bristol and Mark
I, too, think that Derek is the best choreographer, and he has a partner who can deliver. Brandy has done some beautiful dancing, but I think she overacts sometimes so it looks forced. And I do think that Maks’ temperament will affect voting. Kyle and Lacey are such fun to watch, and he has learned to dance well. Bristol has already proven that the ordinary person can learn to dance by staying in the competition this long. Kudos to her, but it’s time for her to go now.
I also agree with those of you who think anything can happen with the voting, so who knows!
I’m still laughing about Kelly Osbourne’s comment that people need to separate the child from the family – I guess she can relate! How would you like “Momma Grizzly” and the “First Dude” as in-laws? Anyway, regardless of who goes home on Tuesday, this season has been like a loud, drunken uncle at the wedding reception – you can’t take your eyes off him and he’s always just about to ruin the party. Monday will help tell the story about Tuesday’s outcome – I still think Bristol’s in it for the duration. Sure, she’s a nice gal but her influence on the show is a two-edged sword.

I agree with you 100%. Derek is young and hot, but he is also the best choreographer by far! Brandy looks unnatural and it looks forced to me. Jennifer is elegant and a beautiful dancer. Lets remember they are dancing as a team. And believe me she has a very large fan base, period!

Kim- I take it you are a Brandy fan. Why are you trying to bring down fans of Jennifer and Derek by saying they won’t make the finals because we are not young or don’t vote much? I have to agree with Meggie and Margaret that Derek is young and hot. Also, I want to add he is one of the most popular pros on the show. If past seasons shows, he can make it far and win and I think with Jennifer is no exception. I am voting for them and I not in the older demographics as you say. Jennifer has been more memorable to me than Brandy and think that is why she could win.
Oh, also want to mention that you must forgot that Donny made it in the finals and won and he was 50. Age does not matter.

I have no clue who’s going to win and I don’t much care as long as it’s not Bristol. I can see why any of the other three would or should win but Bristol? Not so much. I would LIKE for Jennifer and Derek to win – everyone always wants their favorite to win.
Young people voting eh?? Yeah, I don’t think that is as big a factor as some might hope. If this show had young people in droves, it would be doing much better in the prime demographic than it does. If “young” people were voting we’d have had the situation and Audrina for longer than we did and we WOULDN’T still have Bristol. Bristol is the Tea Party favorite and they ain’t young people, by and large.
Kim makes a serious mistake in discounting Dirty Dancing – that places a huge role. IF Jennifer goes home on tuesday it won’t be because young people didn’t vote for her, it will be the age old trap of people thinking those with the high scores are safe so they vote to save Kyle or Brandy from Bristol. I can definitely see that happening. But I can see it happening to Brandy as well.
Carlos, if I were you I would vote for who you want to win – you’re making the same mistake that I warn people about all the time. Thinking the top two dancers are safe. If everyone thinks that, one of them will go home.
People vote for who you want to WIN – don’t play the game of trying to protect someone. Brandy or Jennifer will go home if too many people make that mistake.
First I am kyle M fan. The reason I say young people is because some are mad that audrina left. So they will vote for those three. Second Jennifer is boring to me. It’s just her dancing it doesn’t really grab me. Kyle is fun, bristol is a everday girl who is trying, brandy is a diva with a bad boy. That is great tv. I don’t want to see some woman in pain trying to kill herself by dancing.
Also Donny O.proves that people are not looking at dancing. Also people see that Mya was robbed. People will think it’s a pattern happening. All Iam saying is their more factors involved than most realize.
I think whoever can pull off an amazing freestyle will win. Maks is not strong in freestyle choreography.

But Jennifer seems to get the most cheers and applause when she dances. I don’t know what you are watching. Brandy has improved but she is no dancer. Kyle is entertaining but he should have gone home and he just might if Bristol continues to bore us another week. Brandy being a diva and her bad boy (which just might go against her), we keep hearing how much she wants this so she can get her confidence back. Give me a break she is a successful recording artist! It seems to me that you’re worried about something. Brandy is just not a natural dancer, watch her dances very carefully. Jennifer is sensual and a great dancer. Maybe you can’t face it or even give her credit for it. If you went through what she went through (neck surgeries, thyroid) you would complain too. Remember this is reality tv the damm camera is on you all day! Considering all of this and the shape that woman is in for her age. She is an inspiration to every woman.
This is exactly what many of us have said regarding the producers creating an image that is false. Kim said: “I don’t want to see some woman in pain trying to kill herself by dancing”. How unfortunate for Jennifer. This is the wrong message, wrong image of her. As Derek has said on numerous occasions, the clips have focused on the few minutes in an entire week that she has a physical tweek, and how folks run with it. What a shame. But we cannot force people to hear the truth.
I don’t think Brandy and Maks are going anywhere. they have AT and Paso on Monday. 2 great dances and most likely great songs too (since this is no gimmicks week.)
BTW, Erin and Maks had AT and Paso on semifinals too last season. Interesting, don’t you think?
Margaret, Could have not said it better myself. Also want to add that I agree with Deirdre 100%. The packages the show are showing are not doing any justice for Jennifer. It would be great to see a package like what we saw on dancecenter.
Margaret, I agree with a lot of your thoughts. But, I am not sure it’s fair to say Brandy isn’t a dancer. I think she has a lot of natural dancing ability and musicality works in favor as well imo. The only thing that works against her imo is her nerves sometimes and I think people get annoyed with her personality a little.
Let’s not forget too that Jennifer has had her bad nights They ALL have where we could deduct they are not dancers.
Anyway, I love both Jennifer and Brandy (and their partners). I love Kyle too. I think if Jennifer and Brandy stay in concentration, give totally compassionate performances, do something powerful that seperates them from the rest, one of those two will hopefully win.
Kyle needs to just keep coming out strong and blowing us away too. I agree with Nathan. He is a dark horse.
Bristol is the only one here who has consistantly danced bad and yet, the judges don’t reflect that. I really hope we see them get tough with her tomorrow night because enough is enough.

but that’s the point jennifer does not inspire me as a woman. I can’t relate to her as a woman. Nor Brandy. But bristol and brandy are both single parents. That is what alot of the young voter are seeing everday. More worried about Jennifer I like her but being a natural dancer can work against. Where is the growth? All I see is a older natural dancer trying to kill herself.

As for concerns that Brandy may leave – that is a legitimate concern that has nothing to do with her dancing ability. It’s the same concern I have for Jennifer – fans get complacent when their favorite gets high scores. Brandy and Jennifer have been getting 10s. SO, there are people out there that will try to “save” Kyle and vote for him instead of for their favorite, thinking their favorite is certainly safe by their scores. THAT is why Jennifer AND BRANDY fans better be very concerned – and vote like hell.

We’ve really only seen her talking about her pain in two rehearsal packages. It’s the producers who picked to show those parts of them rehearsing. But, if you go back and look at all the Access Hollywood and ET rehearsal videos here and at PureDerek Hough, her and Derek are continaully busting a gut laughing, having fun, and dancing. Heidi mentioned last week how the producers keep showing a negativite rehearsal for Derek and Jen in some way each week. They’ve done that to Brandy and Maks too. Yet, they’ve left Kyle and Bristol completely alone and only showed us the good. I think that is totally unfair.
Anyway, I think in the end it’s important we base our votes only on what we see on the “dancefloor”. I mean…we could talk about every one of the couples negative sides to their personalitites,etc etc. In the end, what should matter is what takes place on the ‘dancefloor’ and nothing else (imo).
Zach, Tom & Burke were very clear that Maks & Brandy are NOT necessarily in the bottom. They have not done the bottom thing at all this season.
I think because my favorite passionate Russian is so outspoken, it made for very good drama to show him & Brandy as possibly being in the bottom two. Judging by the expression on his face at the end of the results show, he thought the same thing.
That said, it is about both dancing & popularity & always has been. I sincerely hope Brandy & Maks win this one b/c I think they deserve it. JMO
Kim, if Jennifer doesn’t inspire you, you must be very young, that’s all I can say. I’m not Jennifer’s age, but I’m pretty sure I couldn’t do what she’s doing without breaking down and crying. As for being a single mother being inspirational?? Maybe for Brandy – but seriously Bristol? There isn’t anything inspirational about that – women far less privileged than her do it every single day without nearly as good a support system OR the opportunity to go on TV and earn a couple hundred THOUSAND dollars for ten weeks. Really, I like Bristol, but to call her inspirational is rather laughable.

Heidi, how was Brandy being a single teenage mother inspirational? If I remember correctly she did not handle it that well in regards to some of the decisions she made around it. I won’t go into detail here, as I’m not trying to bash her, but I don’t think either one of them (B. or B.) are/were very “inspirational” in that respect.
Jennifer is doing a good job but why did you sign up for this if you have so many health? I think she has the same drive as Brandy but she just express it better.
okay brandy and bristol both made mistakes. Brandy with the”marriage” and bristol with it all. But that is what we see everyday these young woman. I see in Bristol a young woman met a stupid boy. Knocked up- and the public telling her how she is this and that. Now she can try something new. Pity votes-don’t knock’em

You know something if you danced 8 hours a day 7 days a week. Body pains would flair up, including knees, neck and back. If I was 50 years old and had a physique like that I would say gee, I think I am doing a pretty damm good job. How many 50 year olds do you know can do a split like that? To me thats a drive that many people younger do not have. Remember the camera is on you all day, everyone complains about how this hurts and that hurts. Like Derek said, they only showed two days worth where she had a problem with her knee. Remember a few years back, I forget who it was, and ripped a tendon in his arm. Things do happen. Injuries occur. The only drive Brandy has is to think she is better than everyone else! Jennifer never said anything negative about anyone or that she was better!
That’s why she’s inspirational – she didn’t let past health issues stop her from doing something she wanted to do. And she keeps on DESPITE the pain. It’s called not being a quitter.
Well, Meggie, neither Brandy nor Bristol are really inspirational, but if one wants to think so I would lean more toward Brandy – Bristol’s a very privileged young woman with no barriers to anything she might want to do. There’s really nothing to be admired about that – and she’s 30 years younger than Jennifer and has been seen crying on camera, yet Jennifer is the one who gets flack for it. THIRTY years younger. Think about that, Kim.

I see a woman who is trying but I see pain. I have seen people in worst conditions. They don’t compain as much as she. My mom in her 50′s is tired of the complaining. You signed up for it. Shut up and dance.
What people like about Brandy and bristol are the mistakes. They made bad choice and look at what kind of person they are now, look at their lives.

I don’t see the attitude you say brandy has. I see a strong woman who wants to win. Needs to be out going. But if I remember correctly Lalia Ali don’t come to make friends she came to win. What negative attitude I don’t see it.

Kim, what are you talking about!? We haven’t heard much about Jennifer’s life re: growth, because the producers have chosen not to show us anything about her except her pain issues. Of course she has “grown” over the years. Do you know anything about her life when she was Brandy or Bristol’s age? She has certainly had some low points in her life as well, but she certainly isn’t using them for “pity votes”, as someone here put it. And besides, it should be all about the dancing at this stage in the game.
I disagree that it should be all about the dancing. That’s SYTYCD not DWTS. I never understand arguments like: but person xy is a better dancer and therefor should win or stay or whatever. It does contribute to the overall result, but it’s just one of many factors.
I agree, Sasa. For me its not like SYTYCD where these people are there to make carrers out of it. DWTS is also an entertainment show and its about peaople growing into dancers from scratch. Personally I like this final four alot, this season is more competitive than last season because by week 2 of last season we pretty much knew it would come down to Nicole, Evan, and Erin. Erin would get third then Nicole would win, and many coulda guessed by about week 6 or so that Chad would be in the semis and that exactly what happend. While I hate that Audrina got cut in week 6 I half way like the unpredictableness ” Thats a word, right?
” of this season. We’re now down to Jennifer: The most technical, Kyle: The best performer, Brandy: The most consistant, and Bristol: The most improved. Its a good balance and a pretty level playing field. Heres to the semi-finals! P.S. Is it just me or does it seem like last week we were watching the cast reveal? Well, if we were going with most improved, Kurt should be there instead of Bristol. Or Audrina. I don’t really like that someone who really can’t dance well at all is in the final four – but that’s the way the show goes. And unpredictableness is only a word if you’re a Palin fan.

DWTS is not strictly a dancing show, it’s entertainment. When you have fan votes, they are going to vote for whomever they want to, for whatever reasons they feel justify their choices. I don’t agree with them all of the time, but I understand why people vote for the underdogs, the best dancers, the best looking, the one with the best story, the one that fits their demographic, etc. For me, although i don’t vote, my favorites always have to have some entertainment value. Although I don’t like terrible dancing, I think I like great dancing with no personality even less. My favorites tend to have fun, act goofy, and have at least pretty good dances. Although I’d be totally okay if Jennifer or Brandy won (each for different reasons), Kyle has definitely won ME over. Although I empathize with Bristol for not having experience, I still don’t like to watch their routines much, Mark has been annoying, and it goes against my liberal sensibilities. Not that I want Bristol to do badly because I’m a liberal, because it’s not her fault her mom is who she is, but that the tea-partiers feel as though her success is THEIR success, which is a bit annoying. However, that’s only a small portion of why I really do hope Bristol finally goes home. Her scores have been heavily padded all season and it may come back to haunt them tomorrow.
I love Portia de Rossi, but I am not totally sold on the same sex partner thing for the show – here’s why. Even previously gay contestants (such as Lance Bass) had an opposite sex partner. Louis Van Amstel always gets female celebs. I think it’s interesting that they have to choose a gay person to have a same sex partner, is all. BTW I am very very pro-gay rights, I just think they didn’t need to wait for a gay person to do the same sex partner thing, is all. BUT if the experiment goes well and it helps promote gay rights in the eyes of people that would otherwise be closed off to it, then I fully support that. I guess anything to move this country towards more tolerance and acceptance should be welcomed! I wonder who her pro would be?!
DWTS should be all about the best dancer who provides great entertainment. Watching Kyle and Lacey’s jive, I hope they get to do that as their favorite dance and I think they can pull an upset.

No, Zach, I’m not talking about Portia – I haven’t actually decided how I feel about that just yet. My initial inclination is to think it’s another silly gimmick for ratings. Gay people dance with the opposite sex all the time.
I didn’t realize the rumor was that Portia is going to dance with a WOMAN! That’s just stupid to me. But I would love to see Portia dance, with Jonathan for example.

If Bristol gets eliminated this week, I believe the order of the final three will be:
1) Kyle (he’ll get many of the Bristol votes, those who vote for her because she’s real)
2) Brandy
3) Jennifer
If Bristol stays, then it’s anyone’s guess…I think if this happens either Jennifer or Kyle will be eliminated, Brandy will win, Bristol will place 3rd.
About all the other stuff…well…I AM JG’s age AND I was a single teenage mother AND I do ballroom dancing, have since my early 40s, as a hobby. I have little or no connection with Jennifer (again, she’s a fake. She’s had previous rhythm and ballet dance training and keeps trying to pretend she didn’t, or that it doesn’t mean anything: Her fan sites tell the story. For example, one of them starts out “Jennifer Grey began her career dancing in an ad for Dr Pepper in 1979…” and “Trained in both acting and dancing…” I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: once a dancer, always a dancer. Has to do with muscle memory. And, though I’m sure she hurts, it doesn’t seem to bother her when she performs or when she’s running for a costume change on performance night – it’s just suspect, that’s all. Plus, I’m really offended that she claimed ignorance about a great song of “our” time… And, it appears most of you are younger than me. 50 isn’t THAT old. Florence Henderson, at 76ish seemed to be able to get through practice without complaint…).
I have little or no connection with Brandy – everything that woman does or says appears contrived to me. She went from having words bleeped out in practice to asking her fans to pray for her to stating, when asked backstage by Larry King (that’s a clip you may need to search youtube for) who she thought was going to win “Oh, I just want Max to win…” (gag).
Kyle, I adore. He’s entertaining, he’s improved, he makes me laugh.
Bristol, I just connect with…having never taken ballroom dance or performed before my early 40s, she’s what, for me, dance is all about. And I like her attitude about herself, her son, her family. (fyi, Kurt had his family appear several times, as well…why no angst over this? I LOVED Kurt, but I didn’t think Kurt was as good of a dancer as Bristol. Kurt was able to memorize and execute the steps, and I loved watching him dance, but he didn’t seem to have a natural grace.)
Finally, it is my humble opinion (and many of the viewers out there, obviously) that this show is not just about dancing. For the viewers, it IS a popularity contest. Most viewers should NOT try to judge the dancing (leave that up to the judges) and should only vote for who they like. Even though I’ve done competitions and I understand technique better than perhaps the average viewer, there’s no way I would consider myself judge material when it comes to rating dance technique. (Though I don’t mind making general statements about dance quality…for sure, I think JG is the best technical dancer. She SHOULD be, for reasons stated above. I think Brandy is the second best, of those left, though I thought Audrina was better. And so on…)
Well, Kay, if you’re going to believe everything on the web, perhaps you should read PDWTS or PDH more often. LOL. I’m not going to have the argument with you again. I think you’re wrong. You think I’m wrong. Big deal. And I don’t think being 50 gives you any kind of cred whatsoever. Everyone’s experiences are different. Being 50, I would expect you to know that. But everyone is different.
Kay, thanks for your comments, I do agree with almost all of them. I think Kurt improved more then Bristol though. He got much more relaxed in his dancing then she ever did. Or she only does it in glimpses. Bristol does have more natural grace then Kurt did but he’s a guy. How many guys have natural grace? I don’t know that many. It’s much more difficult for them, just due to the fact that guys aren’t usually encouraged to explore their sensitive, graceful side as girls are, from childhood onward. To be fair Bristol’s upbringing doesn’t seem to have included much of girly gracefulness at all (that’s just my impression), so it’s great that she does have some inside her but she has just not been able to sustain any kind of consistent emotion throughout the dance. Which is one of the most important requirements for dancing. Get into it and stay with it until the dance is over.
Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply about the Design a Dance, I had SUCH an amazing time in LA I’m still recovering!! I can’t wait for everyone to see the dance tomorrow night, it is SO fun!! Can I just tell you that Tom is as completely wonderful in person as he seems?? I love that man!
The cast, the crew, everyone was amazing. I got to spend the whole day behind the scenes and I want to go back already! 
All true, Heidi: Everyone experiences aging differently, everyone has a different opinion to which we are entitled. I’m being perhaps overly harsh with JG, because I personally find her annoying. Thanks, sasa, and right about dance. I think it’s possible that Bristol could bring it together tonight. If not, I hope she stays with lessons after DWTS, because I think she has a more analytical rather than ‘feeling’ learning style, which slows down the learning process a bit. I performed recently, and I know that I was a braver, stronger thinking about how hard it would have been to do my first (or any!) performance in front of millions of viewers instead of a small group of people who are all at different levels, all cheering everyone on, regardless of their level of dance. And, as I’ve informed my dance instructor (who DOES have natural grace, but then, he wouldn’t be in the business he’s in if not), Bristol is the reason he and most ballroom dance instructors out there are in business. There’s many more Bristols than there are JGs or Brandys or Audrinas or even Kyles. (And, I think Kurt was more of a natural performer than Bristol…he was always fun to watch! Bristol has a much more low-key personality, that’s for certain.)

After seeing the results of tonight’s ” Dancing with the Stars” (Brandy eliminated), I realize that the show is really primarily a popularity contest vice a contest based on dancing ability. Bandy has been in 1st or tied with 1st 4 times and scored a perfect 30 on the Tengo. Bristol Palin has been last or next to last in 7 of 9 weeks, including the semi-final and ends up in the final. What a joke. I believe Jennifer Grey was the star to beat, now we’ll have a final in which the one person that really had a chance to give her a run for title is removed from the competion on a popularity vote.
I’ve watched the program for the last time.
I am so disgusted at DWTS right now!!! How could they and my fellow watchers let Brandy get voted off over that dam Paylen (non celebrity star, having a child outta wedlock, mommy’s girl)!!! Its clear and obvious she has no coordination what soever!!! But I guess since her momma didn’t win her campaign, they got to go for something else!!! I am totally not watching the show anymore and I hope Kyle wins it now!!!
