SPOILERS!!! DWTS11 Finale – The Results
Well, despite my worries, Armageddon did not occur after the results were announced
Ok, now that I’ve wasted enough space for those following on Twitter – JENNIFER WON!!! YAYYY!!! I’m sure Heidi is coughing weakly between hoots & hollers from her bed – she is sick, folks, which is why I’m covering the results post. But what a “feel better!” present for both her and Jennifer, who managed to soldier through tonight despite a back injury! So happy for both her and Derek…and congrats as well to both Kyle & Lacey and Bristol & Mark! Admittedly, I was skeptical going into tonight’s show – but I feel like each and every one of them got out there and danced their hearts out tonight, even Bristol. Was actually quite nice to see her kind of let go and enjoy herself, without the worry of what people will think of her…amazing how well things turn out when you just say “forget about it” and dance
I have a feeling I may have enjoyed her more had she danced like that the whole season!
Overall, I feel like things played out as they should have – Bristol in 3rd, Kyle in 2nd, and Jennifer won. I’m sure there will be plenty of disagreement, but that’s ok – if this season has taught us anything, it’s that we all have very, VERY different opinions…and that the world won’t end if we don’t agree on something. Such as some of the returning stars performances tonight – oy vey. I don’t want to say too much (gotta save it for the cheesecake!), but some of those dances had me slack-jawed – and not in a good way. They really seemed to be scraping the bottom of the barrel for performance ideas for the finale! Kinda unfortunate.
Anywho, there’s celebrating to be done, regardless of who you were rooting for – a very controversial season has drawn to a close (without too much ado), and there’s a holiday just around the corner. And some tasty cheesecake headed your way soon! So talk it all out…but please, be nice. No rioting for poor John & Vogue to clean up after – Heidi’s already hit the hay, and I’m headed there myself. Screw adult jobs

“Well, despite my worries, Armageddon did not occur after the results were announced ”
ROTFL!!!!! You crack me up! Great review!!
YAYYYYY! I am so happy for Jennifer and Derek. What a rollercoaster it’s been getting here. But, it’s paid off.
You summed up everything so perfectly, Courtney, too about how this Season showed us how diverse we are in opinions and yet, the world didn’t end. So true.
Anyway, I’m so glad this competition turned out right.
The whole show was fantastic tonight too. Loved seeing all the other dancers. The pros were so good too. Loved Christina as well.
GET BETTER HEIDI!!
WOO-HOO!!!! Things ended just the way I hoped! Congrats, Jennifer and Derek!
Feel better soon, Heidi!
Nicely said Courtney!! Great night, Great season, great WEBSITE, great show!! On to season 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!
YAY!!! I am so excited. Well deserved win for Jennifer and Derek.
Feel better soon Heidi.
What a relief! Yay Jennifer and Derek!
Whew! So glad it is over, and it all turned out the way I hoped. See you all next season….feel better soon, Heidi! Thank you all for a great blog.
Who was the woman sitting next to Jaime Lee Curtis on the first night of Finals for Dancing with the Stars? It looked like it might have been Cynthia Rhodes, who played “Penny” in Dirty Dancing? Jennifer ran over to her after the recreation of the Dirty Dancing number, and said “I love you” to her?
Sincere Congratulations to Jennifer and Derek fans! All six of the finalists modeled a great example of how we should be talking to each other during future DWTS seasons—great sportsmanship.
from a Bristol and Mark fan. . . .
Congratulations to Jennifer and Derek! They deserve that MBT and have given me some of the most memorable dances of the season. I’m happy that voting my butt off last night was worth it after all!
Why were you all tweeting hate towards Brandy during the results show. Uncalled for! I know, I know you all sniff Derek’s arse, but that was stupid. There were many Maks and Brandy fans who follow you on twitter and very upset.
Jennifer and Derek, Congratulations!
Well deserved, get better soon! What a fighter!
Well, I survived a snow storm. The power did go out but I did get to drain my cell phone battery to call and text and text my family to vote. Hey, if you’re in a snow storm while DWTS was thisclose to jumping the shark, you’d do it too! And as you can tell by me typing, my power is back! Well, I’m very very VERY happy with the results. I don’t think Kyle or Bristol should’ve been in the finals and yes, overall, this season really wreaked for me, personally but it had a great outcome unlike Season 5, which this season kind of reminded me of except this time, Mel B (in the form of Jennifer Grey) won
. Heidi, feel better!!!!! I’m so sorry you’re ill and hey both you and Audrina have something in common right now! How cool is that? But seriously, Heidi, Courtney, John, Vogue you all do so much for us and I can’t thank you enough for everything. I will absolutely be back next season to talk some more DWTS. Have a great winter, everyone! Zack, high five for Bristol and Audrina!
I was so relieved when I heard that Bristol & Mark were in 3rd place, that I would have welcomed a Kyle & lacey’s victory, but I’m so happy Jennifer & Derek won, they so deserved it.
I still doesn’t understand how could Carrie Ann et Len have scored Jennifer & Bristol the same on their instant cha cha cha but it doesn’t matter anymore. And Lacey has surpassed herself, that was the most atrocious costume I ever seen in DWTS !
Jeanmom, where was anyone here tweeting hatred for Brandy? I sure didn’t see it? You are making up stuff and it’s not appreciated one bit.
Nathan, glad you are back!! Thanks for all the compliments. DITTO and thank you too for all of your support!
And Courtney, I wanted to mention how cool it was seeing Bristol let go more last night too. She seemed more relaxed and just having fun.
Wow, what a night!!
I think Jeanmom might be talking about this?
” puredwts Pure DWTS
I think Brandy’s dance was basically what we would have seen for her freestyle in the finale. I’m thinking we didn’t miss much there.
6 hours ago Favorite Retweet Reply ”
Which you know, as the only comment about other dancers is kinda… well, thoughtless and tacky (aside from being wrong in my opinion.)
Anyway, congrats to Jen and Derek – I was hoping for Kyle and Lacey but it wasn’t to be. At least it was a fun finale with fun dancing! Yes… FUN!!!
I didn’t miss Michael Bolton as one of the returning dancers, did I? I did see Chelsea in the opening number…
I’m surprised Audrina didn’t dance in the results show, apparently she was sick?
Thank you for everything – this site is the best!
I don’t suppose the Sitch is going to show up on cheesecake, is he? What was some of that with those return dances, anyway? Sorry Audrina couldn’t make it…? The only weird thing was Bristol and her middle finger comment – like it took place on a different wavelength. Thanks again.
Evaine, so that’s a “hate” comment? All Puredwts is say he was disappointed in her dance. He didn’t say anything hateful towards her. Plus, Jeanmom said we were “all” tweeting hate on Brandy which isn’t true. We don’t hate any dancers here. If we did, you wouldn’t see us all trying to cover them every day. And I think saying, “I know, I know you all sniff Derek’s arse” was uncalled for.
Jay, good idea for the cheescake. I have a feeling it’s going to be really good this week.
Preston…you may have seen actress, Melanie Griffith?
Oh jeanmom – ever the queen of exaggeration and hyperbole. First of all, it wasn’t ALL of us doing it – Heidi, Vogue, & I all have our own personal Twitter accounts, and I don’t think any of us even tweeted anything about Brandy & Maks last night. I don’t think Marianya or Lori is even on Twitter. The comment (singular, not a whole night’s worth of “hate” as you’re leading everyone to believe) was John’s, and I really don’t see anything paricularly offensive, tacky, thoughtless, or “uncalled for” about it – it was his opinion, he was entitled to it (as ALL OF US here are – this is a blog, what do you expect?) and it wasn’t a personal attack on either of them. Was that what Maks & Brandy’s freestyle would have looked like? I don’t know. But it did seem odd to me that they opted to do a routine that they’ve already done twice on the show, rather creating a new routine like all the other returning celebs were – especially after Bruno asked them to do their freestyle last night after Brandy got eliminated last week. If it’s too much for your delicate sensibilities (real classy, the comment about “sniffing Derek’s arse”) to handle for anyone to say anything remotely negative about Maks or his partners, jeanmom, then maybe you should click “unfollow”…because we don’t hold our tongues to cater to every person that cannot take criticism. Grow up.
@David – Nope, you didn’t miss Michael – I think they said he was doing a concert in London and couldn’t make it. And yep Rooster, Audrina was bedridden with the flu – she tweeted a little bit before the show that she was sad that she couldn’t be there to dance with Tony one last time. Poor girl
@Preston – Hmmm…maybe it was Cynthia Rhodes! I’ll have to go back and rewatch it to make sure.
@Jay – Oh no worries, nobody is immune in the final cheesecake of this year
Definitely a lot of odd behavior last night….
Sadly, Vogue, I guess it’s a ‘hate’ comment considering the way that word is flung around these days. Me, I just considered it a bit of a snark seeing as nothing was said about any of the other dancers.
Was Jeanmom over the top with her comment? If it WAS based on just that tweet, yeah, I think so. A little bit of over-reacting, I think. And yes, I agree the comment about ‘Derek’s arse’ was uncalled for. There are many better comments about it that could have been made. *wink*
I love derek’s arse. It looks very…firm.
Thanks for the get well wishes – I stayed home today and am still not well so cheesecake in a couple days. Stick around during the off season as we don’t shut down.
I read on FOX News that Bristol made the comment that “it would be great to win because it would be like the middle finger to those who don’t like her or her mom”. Wow, how classy!
(Note the sarcasm)
I know Bristol took a lot of heat from the media, but she certainly isn’t helping herself by make undiginified remarks like this. Someone needs to really work with her and explain how it works. By the way, is it just me or does the word “haters” just grate on your nerves. When people use the word “haters”, it just sounds so immature and silly.
She is nothing but class. Mark thinks that just by being in the finals they gave everyone the middle finger. He is quickly becoming my least favorite dancer.
On another note though, they did do the GMA bit inside a studio rather than in Times Square for security reasons.
What a crazy season.
I don’t know Bristol personally so how can I hate her……that middle finger comment just shows her age and immaturity. I have a daughter her age and while she might make that comment to me personally and in private she certainly wouldn’t say it in front of a gazillion people on national TV (if she were ever to get on national TV). Just sort of brings it to the level of a Rush Limbaugh or Jerry Springer show…
Well, on the Derek front (or back), I’m just glad he’s dancing. Never was a real big fan but he handled this season well, I think. Remember last season toward the end when he said he needed a vacation? No comments like that this time – I think because the whole Bristol presence gave him some cover to operate better. IMO. And saying that Bristol is only 20, well Kyle’s younger and, man, that guy is a smooth talker. Plenty of young people handle pressure with tact and grace. She needs to listen to her manager – or switch managers.
Last night’s finale was sick!!! Jen deserveadly won it all and Kyle definately deserved second place. The instant cha cha scores were underscored I think. Jen deserved tens as did Kyle. Bristol’s scores were spot on though. As for the eliminated celebrity performances, they were all great entertainment except for the Situation. Finally, I hope Jamie Lee Curtis does the show next season or even Melanie Griffin. It was funny to seee both of them in the audience since they were rpobably more recognizable than some of the celebrites this season lol.
Forgive my follow-up re Bristol and Kyle. But she’s doesn’t have a corner on the ‘dealing with bad stuff’ market. He was an overweight kid of color. You think he’s never encountered racism or hostility or rejection for his weight/appearance? She oughta walk a mile in his shoes to see what he gets in daily life. It’s all how you deal.
Isn’t that the truth Jay!! And Magnolia, I agree about Bristol…she’s 20. She should know better than to say what she did about her middle finger (imo).
“Just sort of brings it to the level of a Rush Limbaugh or Jerry Springer show…”
Exactly Katy!!
“Was Jeanmom over the top with her comment? If it WAS based on just that tweet, yeah, I think so. A little bit of over-reacting, I think. And yes, I agree the comment about ‘Derek’s arse’ was uncalled for. There are many better comments about it that could have been made. *wink*”
I agree Evaine.xx
Heidi, good to see you and I’m glad you stayed home from work today.xx
Well I’m going to say that I had a good feeling going into last night’s show. I don’t think the show would really give us 6 consecutively perfect dances from Jennifer and she not pull out a win. That winning streak carried from her Insta-dance on Week 8 right though to her first dance on the finale. Inconceivable! But true, and so well deserved. I did get upset when she said she ruptured her disc..oh no I thought she might have forefeited the contest right there, but no way. In the tradition of Greys the show must go on.
Jennifer is probably one of the most well-rounded dancers of the entire franchise. Getting perfects for her Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Waltz, Paso Doble, VWaltz, and 1st Waltz. Amazing. (I do think Len robbed her of a perfect score on the Argentine Tango- that was my favorite dance of the season, and it showed all the other teams that a stage in the round can work and work very well)
Of course Jennifer and Derek won. They were without a doubt the best dancers. I have watched this show fatefully for several seasons and it is always the same. Celeb’s with no dance experience are pitted against those who add dancing to their list of talents and sometimes even include it in their profession. I’m sorry, but quite frankly I’m sick of watching people with no dance background, work their buts off and struggle every week to compete with those with dance experience. It’s not fair to them or the talented professional who work just as hard to train them. It would be really cool for once to pick celeb’s with somewhat equal experience and see what the great professionals and great choreographers can acomplish. That would be a true contest instead of the ‘novices’ so to speak to go in facing a stacked deck.
Man I love the generalizations people make. How one tweet can be taken in such the wrong way and real hate starts spewing. The funny thing is that I think I like Maks more than anyone else on this site. However, I expected much more from him last night. So, I was disappointed and thus the tweet. I guess I do hate. I hate when Maks doesn’t rise to the occasion. Of course, that’s just my opinion. You’re welcome to yours.
My favorite part of the Bristol middle finger comment was that it left Tom completely speechless. It was like he was going over it in his head and he had either 1. nothing to say or 2. nothing he could say on network television.
Also, as I also said on Twitter, I like Derek, but he pales in comparison to my favorites: Edyta, Chelsie and Kym.
I believethe reason why Maks didn’t do anything new is because he had like one day to meet up with Brandy. I remember they had mentioned that on the View, that’s most likely why they didn’t do anything new, but personally, I was glad they did their quickstep because it was my favorite and I just had a big smile watching those two together one last time. It was nice.
That’s what I understood too, Nathan. And I think Brandy may have been a little too emotionally burnt out to really take on something new in a short time.
Other than that STEAMY Argentine Tango, their number last night was my FAVORITE, and they damn well nailed it. So, no, I wasn’t disappointed in my favorite Maks. Anyone that thought they’d actually do their freestyle had to be smoking some pretty good crack – just sayin’. *g*
I am extremely happy this season is over! I’ve been watching (and voting) since Season 2 and this is going into my all-time worst. There was a lot of potential talent that was not recognized because all the air was sucked out of the room by one contestant. I found myself dreading turning on the DVR to watch this past Monday and Tuesday night shows. I severely edited the broadcast on both nights. On Monday, I quickly turned off the TV. I couldn’t bring myself to even watch the Skating thing — and I love figure skating as much as dancing — but I just don’t think ABC is doing a good job with their reality shows after the fiasco of Season 11 on DWTS.
I suppose Shakespeare was right when he wrote All’s Well that ends Well.. And I admire Kyle for showing how marvelous a young adult can be… But I think if ABC chooses another political figure for the DWTS cast, I think I’ll probably just skip the season. This was NOT a fun, joyful or entertaining season on DWTS.
I think I’m done with DWTS. I wasn’t too thrilled with this season but am happy with the result of Jennifer winning.
@ NAthan and Evaine, I agree. Remember Maks was training with Robin Roberts for her dance on GMA this morning. So Maks has been pretty busy this last week. So he probably was like lets just pick a dance that we did. I would have loved for them to do their tango BUT the quickstep was amazing!! It was nice and I think they both really care for each other, evident by that hug at the end. Should’ve been in the finals but I digress.
SO very happy Jennifer and Derek won though. They were clearly the best dancers out of the 3. Except for that last instant cha cha, I loved all of their dances this week. Really really good!! They have got to stop giving Derek these great dancers. When was the last time Derek got a bad dancer?? Realistically he should have made the finals with Lil Kim and Joanna.
I was also happy for Kyle. At the beginning I was like this kid is not gonna make it very far. But he stepped it up towards the end. Not the best dancer but he is a ball of fun and energy. And congrats to Lacey too. She was a great choreographer and I enjoyed watching the two of them together.
Bristol……..meh. Everything that I wanna say has already been said. Her dancing was sketchy but she made the finals so good for her. sidebar- How many times did that girl say ‘the haters’ between Monday and Tuesday?? It seemed like every time I saw her or her package she was talking about all the ‘haters’. Whatever.
And what in the hell were some of those cast dances?? I mean what the hell did THe Situation do but stand there and take his shirt off?? And freaking Florence Henderson was just……. no words. And did we r4eally need those instant cha chas?? It seemed like a waste to me. But I digress.
I cant wait for Season 12. I wonder who will be on there
Leigh, I do think DWTS has some serious ground to make up because they really shot themselves in the foot because of bringing in politics. If they don’t have a “ratings grabber” that show will go down while still being somewhat good and the heads at ABC will probably pull the plug. That’s my worry, anyway. I hope not.
Greg, as far as future contestants. Basically, everyone that I wanted (as well as some surprises) have been on: Melissa Joan Hart, Pamela Anderson, Brandy, Mya, Monique Coleman, Willa Ford, Sara Evans. I don’t know, like I said, DWTS has some serious ground to make up. Season 10 was in my opinion, the best cast ever and no politics involved.
But my wish list would include:
Sarah Michelle Gellar (TV/Film Actress)
Karen Olivo (Tony Winning Broadway Star)
Lindsay Hartley (Daytime TV Actress) and now that she’s doing All My Children, she can do DWTS because of the ABC relation.
I don’t know, but I hope we can get a better Season 12!!!!!!
I would have liked the final 2 go head to head instead but overall it was an interesting season. Bristol impressed me but I wished Brandy made it to the finals instead of her.
SO HAPPY JEN WON!
I would be happy if Kyle did too, but.. wow! =] Very happy here.
And you all “Pures”, thanks a lot for this season. Hope next I’ll be here =]
Best!
Leigh, give the skating show a chance. The caliber of skating was much better than I expected—and the contestants only trained 3-4 weeks. The judges were quite critical, but everything was focused on the performance. Dick Buttons was tough as nails, but he taught as he judged. My main critique of DWTS is that I watch for enjoyable contestant dancing performances. The judges, the lacking questioning and filler material, the weak Results Show entertainment don’t thrill me. Let’s learn more about the contestants during the season other than injuries. I didn’t see all the show-did they cover Kurt Warner’s rise from obscurity, Rick Fox was an interesting character as a player, etc. As many have mentioned, some of the Pros need to refocus. For one, it was hard working with a much taller dancer, but I thought Cheryl was distracted. If anything, I think all the contestants are training too hard and it shows. Too much time in the studio. Allow some time for the body and spirit to recuperate. If nothing else, lock the studio doors on Thursday or Friday. Oh, nice to see Burke the last weeks in some gorgeous and tasteful dresses. Thanks everyone for sharing their insights.
Yeah, I was not crazy about Bristol’s comment (among others) – she’s also in print saying they should win because they worked so hard. Um…so that means you think you’re the only one who worked hard? I don’t think so, babe. You were outdanced by a 50-year old woman with screws in her neck and a young guy – both of whom also worked very hard.
And you Bristol defenders saying “oh she had so much to deal with” yadda yadda – I’ve got two words: Shawn Johnson. Shawn actually had a stalker come to the studio to try to get to her and she was younger than Bristol is right now. That little girl showed how to handle adversity. Bristol’s had to deal with words and an envelope of talcum powder – the last bit is scary, but you can’t classify everyone as a “hater” who will throw some powder at you.
And yes, I hate the word “hater” – it is very immaturely used to categorize everyone who doesn’t spout ONLY sunshine and roses all the time. Grow up.
No, I’m not feeling better – I’m having an afternoon high point which will certainly go away shortly.
The thing is, Jay (comment 27) I don’t think we know how the contestants handle pressure. Some just show it more or less to the cameras. Who knows, the most tactful in frontof the camera could be the least tactful behind it… And DWTS is such a family atmosphere they’d never tell…
You know, normally when the show is over and the winner crowned, I have a sympathetic ear for the also rans, they work hard and they should be applauded for their efforts. I definitely feel a warm and fuzzy toward Kyle and even Lacey, with whom I often take issue with her dancing style. But Bristol just makes me brissle. There’s no need to push the middle finger at the voters or keep up the “hater” talk, it seems so disrespectful to everyone.
Rooster, I hear ya. But that’s not the point. It wasn’t appropriate for her to break frame and threaten a portion of the audience with a big middle finger. It’s not the Bristol show, it’s DWTS and all sorts of people pay their mortgages with that income. She’s a liability.
wait, she gave the middle finger on the show? i thought that was just something she said in interviews. i guess i’m not a very attentive watcher…
To clarify, it was a “figure of speech” no real hand gestures were performed, but the my point is the same. It’s a rather classless thing to say to those who don’t agree with you.
Here’s an interesting post from the abc board- The Claim is the Voters definitely decided the outcome rather than the scores:
Of the total judges scores for Monday & Tuesday night combined, there were a total of 332 points awarded. Jennifer & Derek had 118 points (35.54%), Kyle & Lacey 110 points (33.13%) and Bristol & Mark 104 (31.32%). A difference of 4.22 percentage points separated Jenn & Bristol.
For Bristol to win, she ONLY needed to get 4.23 percentage points more than Jennifer. For instance, if 12 million votes were cast, Bristol would have needed 507,600 more votes than Jennifer to win. In the grand scheme of the number of votes needed, that’s not a lot.
Let’s look at it another way, just looking at Monday night’s scores: Of the 168 points awarded, Jenn had 60 (35.71%), Kyle 56 (33.33%) and Bristol 52 (30.95%). So Bristol was 4.76 percentage points below Jennifer.
When you look at the numbers, what you see is that last night the judges scores actually brought Bristol CLOSER to Jennifer! After Monday she was down by 4.76 points, but last night the gap closed to 4.22 points. So far from the judges deciding the winner, the viewers CLEARLY did. The judges actually gave Bristol a closer shot.
Again, using 12 million as a figure for voting (since ABC won’t say how many votes were actually cast), that would mean after Monday Bristol needed 572,400 more votes than Jenn to win. But after last night’s dances, Bristol only would have needed 64,800 LESS votes to win!
This does show that the judges didn’t tip the scales to Jennifer – they actually gave Bristol more of a chance.
@Jay LOL I guess the humor got lost on your post but it did give me a giggle
Ok first i have to shout out YAY I AM SO HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS!! I was so afraid of the apocolypse – Bristol winning. And I think she was relieved actually. I think a lot of people would have made her feel that she didn’t deserve it – it just wouldn’t have been a joyous thing. BUT the middle finger comment was sooo not classy. Why didn’t ABC or her Mom give her a public relations coach? I also just have to say that I’ve seen articles where they say ‘don’t judge Bristol for who her Mom is or how you feel about her Mom’, yet the only reason she asked to be on the is precisely, WHO HER MOM IS.
The finale dances of the contestants was pretty funny! Poor Florence, she does seem to have two left at times but it was such a treat to see Corky do a fast dance for once and watch him move those hops….I am so in love with that guy. David H – what the heck was that? And yeah, the Sitch didn’t do much of anything but at least he lifted some of the girls…..I remember reading he showed up late for rehearsal last week and that he did do this during his time on the show too. Could have been a factor in his progress?
anyway, I am so glad it’s over and so glad the right person took home the mirror ball. Looking forward to “cheesecake” whatever that is…but it sounds good.
Tom B had said in an article that even though Bruno shouted to Brandy to come back and freestyle, it wouldn’t have been fair to make Brandy undergo all that training for it when it was such a let down for her…following Maks on Twitter after the finale, he seemed really booked up anyway – he’d come to NY last week, checked in on his studio, did The View and some other press and worked with some other ABC reporter on a dance-forget her name (not Robin Roberts from today’s GMA show) then flew back to LA for finale practice and the AMAs.
glad dwrs OVER I will NEVER watch it again, unless they get new JUDGESand get rid of DEREK,nothing cute about him toooo skinny, has an ass like 2 ggs in a bag scramble at that. he is fav with judges, and at the beginnining of the show they always play a fav dancer, and i still believe that they know which way the votes are going anddish them over to their fav.i do believe they knew that it was going in fav of brandy and maks, thats why they had to be kicked off, jennifer is a freaking whiner her leg one minute and her back the next minute.professional should not dance in contest with non professionals, BE FAIR
Bristol gave the middle finger? Was it on the show or during interviews? For someone who believes in God she shouldn’t carry herself that way.
I wish they did the finale similar to last season – eliminate the 3rd place finisher and have the two remaining couples battle out the instant cha cha.
I just read that she would give the middle finger to those haters if she won. Ok, whatever…
I love Derek but I’d like him to be challenged with a non-performer to see what he can come up with.
tcs,
She said it in one of her interview packages. She said basically that she hoped she won since it would be like giving the big middle finger to all the haters. Something like that. Then, it cut to Tom who had the reaction that I think most of America had: “Did she really just say that?”
Congratulations to Jennifer and Derek! The right couple won, I’ve been routing for them all along.
@Vera (#24): I am sure this has been address before, but Jennifer is a movie star who played the a who learned to dance one dance in one movie. If someone plays a doctor in the movies, would you go to this person for medical advice? Jennifer’s dancing in that movie (which was filmed over 20 years ago) was a few minutes. I’ve actually read that Patrick Swayze was talking about how bad she was and that they had to do a lot of re-takes of individual dance sequences. This doesn’t make her a dancer. She’s also hasn’t done any dancing since then.
What cracks me up is seeing my idea for “dancing by the numbers” regurgitated all over the net. Including the abc boards. Shoulda trademarked it.
Thank you Puredwts for the season coverage and congrats to Jennifer and Derek. I do wish it was Kyle who won but second place is also a fantastic result. Bristol said some really stupid things this week, but I still enjoyed watching her progress till the end. I’m again transferring my hopes for seeing a true beginner take it to next season. And, if I can choose, I would like this person to win with with a foreign-born pro (Anna! Anna!) just to change things up a little. I’m a bit sad that my comments here were taken in a negative light but hey, it was what it was (I sound like Maks lol). Chapter closed. I just wanted to add this final thought and thank you for your efforts. Cheers!
Holy crap, did my boyfriend and I burst out laughing everytime they showed Jennifer bawling her eyes out over that song. She’s such a drama queen. I think that’s what I didn’t like about her. She seems like a nice person and is a great dancer, but good lord what an attention whore. I love that Jimmy Kimmel even kind of jokingly called her out on it. The drama package also reminded me of her telling Derek he had a temper and his disbelief. I actually grew to like her so much less as the season went on – and I was prepared to like her so much. That being said, she does have a lot of natural talent and Derek always brings out the best in his partners, so it’s not a surprise that she won, and I am glad for Derek. I hope he gets someone likable next year. For all the people that disliked Joanna Krupa, she was more “likable” to me than Nicole and Jennifer both (just not as naturally gifted). But for likability, Lil Kim was definitely my favorite of his.
I thought Kyle was very gracious when Jennifer was announced, and although I wanted him to win, his second place finish was almost as gratifying. What a darling kid he is.
When Bristol was eliminated, even my boyfriend exclaimed “THANK GOD”. I laughed so hard at that because he is normally so NOT invested into these types of things. I do think her last Cha Cha was her best dance of her season though.
Sigh, now to wait for another four months til the next season.
Also I think that Brandy & Maks chose that for their finale dance for a few reasons. They had just done their Argentine Tango, they didn’t have time to learn a new routine, it was a very nice quickstep and most importantly, I think the message of “I’ll be there for you” was one they wanted to convey. I think they wanted to show a strong, united front during their return.
I totally agree with you Figamentation. And they danced marvelously, I thought. I had a big grin on my face.
@Figmentation I agree with you 100 percent. They performed that amazing Argentine Tango 3 times last week. So I’m sure that they didnt want to do it again. And after the whole controversy over Brandy leaving, I thought it was a perfect way to end their season.
Congratulations Jennifer & Derek!!!
Yay, so incredibly happy for Jennifer & Derek!!! They worked so hard persevered and they WON!! What an inspiration they have been “all” season long, truly AMAZING. Their V. Waltz/Waltz performances really touched my heart as I felt the choreography was Breathtakingly beautiful. These two were just were my favorites what can I say. Adore Jennifer and of course Derek, wish I could have just one dance with him-LOL.
Kudos Derek on being the male pro to have a back to back win and first pro to receive 3 mirrowball trophies. Such an amazing, talented young man.
Jennifer & Derek cheer class & elegance!
Congratulations!

Shout out to Kyle & Lacey they brought it and were such a joy to watch!!
The Chicago Sun-Times has an article about Brandy being bitter:
http://www.suntimes.com/entertainment/zwecker/2921868,zp-CST-112510.article
Thanks for the link Carlie, but to me, it sounds like that source is trying to cause drama where there is none. I’m pretty good at reading faces, and the only time where Brandy looked kind of down was when Jennifer won. She wasn’t bitter but simply disappointed. Come on, if you were truly in this competition, I’m sure we’d all want to win and when we know we were robbed, yeah it hurts. But it is what it is. Brandy looked very happy when she was dancing. And as far as the “looks” she was giving Bristol and Kyle, I still think it’s probably the same leak that leaked 99% of the cast and is trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
Thanks again though!
@carlie re: the SunTimes Article ; you know I don’t blame Brandy for being bitter, of course if she’s snide to others that’s not acceptable, but it is a bitter pill to swallow. Audrina as well. People dismiss the show as a cheesy dance show, but the competitors are invested, they want to do the best they can.
Personally I can’t stand how much people get invested in sports like Football. It’s a stupid game as far as I’m concerned, but millions of people take it seriously and get invested and get extremely upset if their team doesn’t perform well or there’s a bad call causing them to lose.
So with 25 million watching DWTS, yes it’s not to exacting standards, but it’s kind of the superbowl of ballroom dancing in America. If more people became knowledgable about dance then it just might be more entertaining on a artistic level in the future. Such as it is, it becomes a bit of a freak show when you have politicians and other agendas mudding the waters. But that doesn’t take away from the people who are genuinely there to challenge themselves and others in dance.
Amen Mary!!!!!
Question to NATHAN – you said Brandy looked “down” when Jennifer won…how did you see Brandy’s face when Jennifer was announced the winner? I don’t recall the camera on her then?? Did I miss this?
to Figmentation: i had the same reaction as your boyfriend…I screeched out THANK GOD so loudly!!! lol i was sooo RELIEVED
To Jessica, I was referring to when the contestants went to Jennifer Grey when she was announced as the winner. Everyone was there and I always look to see who I can spot and that is when I noticed Brandy. She was not cold or rude by any means, but you could tell she was still bummed but happy for Jennifer nonetheless
Im sooooo stickin around for the off season!!!! Fun dont stop here.
“it’s kind of the superbowl of ballroom dancing in America.” Holy Crayola! What world do you live in? DWTS is TOTALLY LIKE PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING! The actors are scripted, the win/lose is preordained, and the histrionics are all phony.
If you can’t see it yet, you’re not looking very closely.
I’m with Mary – I don’t really blame any of the contestants if they are a little bitter. That said, I’ve seen some post show video and Brandy didn’t seem bitter at all.
If they take Sarah Palin’s advice (gag) and put Christine O’Donnell (or any other political figure) on the show next season, then I will start worrying about the future of the show. Keep the freakin’ politics in Washington for god’s sake.
Now there’s a show..DANCING WITH THE REPUBLICANS. Ratings bonanza or ratings death?
I also have to say to the people who are tired of Derek getting good dancers, this is all I have to say. Doesn’t that show you how good of an instructor he is if every one of his girls did well? Derek has been paired with three of my girls now. Jennie, Lil’ Kim & Nicole. Plus, I did support Shannon, Brooke and Jennifer. The only time I was never on board with a Derek girl was with Joanna. I still to this day, did not like her attitude. But anyway, Derek, in my opinion, is the best pro. Even if he got Florence, I’m sure they would somehow call her a “ringer”. I don’t know, I guess my message is stop with the Derek hating or in a politically correct way of saying things (Because DWTS NEVER brings politics into the show (; ) Leave Derek alone!!!
Amen Nathan. Derek has only had one good on paper partner and that was nicole. The rest is hindsight being 20/20. Even jennifers age and history made her more of a question mark. Hell, she almost didn’t finish! People like to forget the “cons” of each of his partners and claim he always gets the good ones never giving him credit for making them good.
