DWTS – Your Cha Cha Cha Holiday Media Updates
Hi!!! How is everyone doing this week so far? I hope well and you are starting to get your Christmas shopping wrapped up? Huh, you haven’t even started? Well, good news then. Here are some good ideas for what you can get your family and friends for Christmas if they love dancing and the show. From the NY Daily. Twelve seasons later, this glitzy competition is going strong with younger and younger aficionados every year. You’re never too young to feel the beat, or trash celebs.
— Toning your tush to the Tango might be just the ticket for the holidays. There are plenty of DWTS-inspired workouts on DVD. Watch for this new one: “Dancing With the Stars: Ballroom Buns & Abs,” featuring fitness pros Chelsie, Edyta and Kym. They promise sexy dancer curves in three workouts.
— Grab the hubs and go for Samba lessons. He’ll groan but they’re paid for already …
— For kid fans, Dance Star Mickey by Fisher-Price is catching some buzz for the holidays. This mighty animatronic robot mouse has different moves for different grooves. He walks, he talks, he tells jokes, he moonwalks. Just press his foot and away he goes.
— Treat a teen to some leg warmers, from chunky cables in wool to lighter-weight versions made for actual dancers in stripes or warm pink.
In other media and news updates out there, Carrie Ann told E-Online that she thinks we need a “Palin vacation for a minute” when asked if Todd Palin would join the show next season. Shew, I am so glad for this and she makes some good points. She also talks of the “Same-Sex couple idea again as well. Here is take.
“I think one Palin was enough for awhile,” Carrie Ann Inaba told me last night at the Trevor Project’s Trevor Live benefit at the Hollywood Palladium. “I think we need to go on a Palin vacation for a minute.”
In other words, she’s not too keen on Todd Palin being on the show.
But why? Didn’t the Palin factor mean a lot more people were watching and talking about DWTS?
“Although it was great media attention, I think it was too controversial,” Inaba explained. “I think people got confused about what they were rooting for: Are you voting for dancing on the show or are you voting for a Party?
“I think that made it very uncomfortable for a lot of people who just want to see a dance competition. I like to keep it simple. I think it diluted the nature of the competition.”
At the same time, Inaba said she’s hoping DWTS follows in its Israeli counterpart’s footsteps by including a same-sex couple in the competition.
“I want it to happen,” Inaba said. “I think we’ll have to work on some of the judging and the techniques of leading and stuff like that, but once we get passed all that, I think it could happen.”
Recently, Margaret Cho wrote about Bristol on her blog with some rumors that she heard Sarah forced Bristol into doing the show for political reasons. At the same time, Margaret comments how Bristol is her friend, a warm person, and a beautiful dancer. The way she wrote it, it’s kind of confusing. Being Margaret is a “Comedian”, is this just political satire, is she is just kidding, or do you think Margaret is being mean-spirited or maybe both? I’ll let you decide.;
Why did Bristol do Dancing with the Stars? I heard from someone who really should know (really should seriously know the dirt really really) that the only reason Bristol was on the show was because Sarah Palin forced her to do it. Sarah supposedly blames Bristol harshly and openly (in the circles that I heard it from) for not winning the election, and so she told Bristol she “owed” it to her to do DWTS so that “America would fall in love with her again” and make it possible for Sarah Palin to run in 2012 with America behind her all the way. Instead of being supposedly “handicapped” by the presence of her teen mom daughter, now Bristol is going to be an “asset” – a celebrity beloved for her dancing. I am sure the show wasn’t in on this (but who knows anything really).
Although I don’t agree with the family’s politics at all, I really like Bristol as a person. She’s warm and incredibly supportive, and I think that she looks beautiful out on the dance floor. It’s heartbreaking that people are so awful to her about her weight. I think she looks fantastic, and why does everybody think they have a right to comment on our bodies? What are young girls going to take away from that? If people call her fat what kind of impact does that have on women who have similar body types – which is most of us??!! Still, it is a dance competition, and so I am sure that people feel they have the right to judge bodies and not just ability. That’s just wrong.
Bristol is learning. She improved a lot, in my opinion. Her tango was fierce and really the best dance she did. You really do learn to dance in this competition! I am proud of her for shaking her ass! But keep in mind there are other forces at work here and it’s not just for the love of dance.
Now I am scared I am going to wake up with a decapitated moose head in my bed.

I will give my friend credit for creativity, and extra points for getting so many “facts” wrong in so few sentences. Let me be blunt: my mom did not “force” me to go on DWTS. She did not ask me either. The show approached me. I thought about it. I made the decision. After first worrying for me in terms of being exposed to those who hate us for what we believe in, both my mom and my dad became my number one supporters. Anyone who watched the show could tell I performed better, and I felt better about myself, when they were in the audience. I wanted to make them both proud, but politics had nothing to do with it. Loving my parents had everything to do with it.
To my friend Margaret Cho, if you ever have a question, call me girlfriend. Don’t ever rely on “sources” who claim to know me or my family. You will be taken every time. And we need to talk. You say you “don’t agree with the family’s politics at all” but I say, if you understood that commonsense conservative values supports the right of individuals like you, like all of us, to live our lives with less government interference and more independence, you would embrace us faster than KD Lang at an Indigo Girls concert.
*sigh* I was probably ok with Bristol’s retort until the end when she made it sound like Conservatives are the only people wth “common sense values”. I also have to question the bit about her Party being for more independence and less government. That is not what we saw in the Bush era or any political or Presidential era if you think about it.
Moving on, Lacey and Kyle were interviewed on the show during the Hollywood Christmas Parade. They joke around about becoming the “Oreo Mixers” in a future dance tour. lol
Speaking of “Christmas Parades”, The Examiner is reporting that some of our Pros will be starring in the “Christmas Disney Parade”. Here is a take on this news. Be sure to see the link for more of the star-studded line up. You can tune into to see the parade on ABC at 12:00pm ET on Christmas Day.
Superstars are lining up left and right for the chance to perform during Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade, and the pros from Dancing With the Stars and American Idol stars are first in line. Professional dancers Tony Dovolani, Kym Johnson, Louis Van Amstel and Chelsie Hightower from Dancing With the Stars are set to perform a jovial jive. Ryan Seacrest from American Idol serves as this year’s host and season nine winner Lee Dewyze performs his own rousing rendition of “The Little Drummer Boy.” Also on tap are pint-sized opera singer Jackie Evancho and Disney star Selena Gomez. Plus, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Phineas and Ferb, and the whole Disney gang will all be dressed in their holiday best as they sing, march and dance through the Disney Parks. It will be a magical Christmas Day made for sharing and making magical Disney memories.
