DWTS – More “Put Me On The Show” Contenders & We Wishes
Ok, we have more names to throw around to you. What do you think of these people who are trying to get on the show?
Irish born singer, Paul Byrom is our first to report to you. If you do a search on his name at Twitter, you’ll see his fan base campaigning for him to be on the show. Here is a tweet from him today. If you aren’t sure who he is, check out this link under his name. Very nice, I must say.
Not sure if it’s true or not, but, Lara Bingle has been approached to participate on the show. Special thanks to Pure DWTS fan Vin for this information from Sify. The link also mentions Brynne Edlston, Alby Mangels, and Chef Manu Feideo among a DWTS wish list.
The swimsuit model had rejected the offer four times but this time she is considering it, according to a source.
Melbourne socialite Brynne Edelsten, wild man adventurer Alby Mangels and saucy chef Manu Feildel are among those on the Dancing wish list, reports News.com.au.
Bingle will be in the US until early in the New Year.
Danny Gokey, third place finalist on the eighth season of American Idol, would also like a chance to show his stuff on Dancing With The Stars and maybe lose some weight at the same time. Here is a take from Country Music Tattle Tale.
Danny Gokey is where he is in country music because of one reality show: “American Idol.” Now, he tells CMT.com he’s eyeing another reality show. He says he would like to be on “Dancing With the Stars.” He says he likes dancing. And, on that show, “you lose weight, too.”
Danny says Simon Cowell told him he couldn’t dance. But, he says if he were on “Dancing With the Stars,” he could tell him, “you know, Simon, I’ll show you one day.”
LOL to Danny wanting to prove Simon Cowell wrong about his dancing abilities. That would be kind of fun to see. For some reason, I can see Danny dancing with Cheryl if this were to come true? Note: this isn’t the first time Danny has tried to get on the show. You can read an earlier post HERE from Season 9 for when Danny tried to get on the show and how the producers tried to work around his tight schedule. He is more free this Season. So, could this be a strong possibility?
Pop Stop TV is reporting that Kyle Massie’s brother, Chris, would like to dance on the show. More below. There is also a video at the link (it didn’t have a code to embed or I would have posted it).
PopStop TV correspondent Dena Kalil caught up with the brothers at the ‘Disney on Ice’ Charity event and he hinted exclusively that we might just see him on the show next season!
When asked the question, Chris answered coyly:
“Well, I would consider going on there because I would want to win it for the family. If I win it, I would give it [trophy] to him [Kyle].”
When we asked Kyle who he wanted to see on there, he told us he’d like to see Lindsay Lohan, Obama, and Oprah!
Judging by the way Chris’s eyes lit up when we asked him the question, we definitely think he knows something.
I’m not sure Chris is being as serious as Pop Stop would like to think, but, who knows? I liked Kyle Massey on the show. But, personally, I’m not ready for another “Massey” to be on the show…yet, anyway.
Marilu Henner is said to want to be on the show as well. From Showbiz Spy.
MARILU Henner wants to dance!
The Taxi actress, 58, says she’s desperate to appear on the hit US TV show Dancing With the Stars!
“I feel like the girl who’s waiting for the handsome guy to ask her to the dance,” she said.
Wow, and wouldn’t it have been cool if the DWTS producers could have convinced John Travolta to dance? Now that would have been a dream to see. However, he has politely declined. From Popcrunch.
…reality TV fans will have to wait just a little longer for ABC producers to convince the fleet-footed actor to showcase the fancy footwork that dazzled cinema audiences in Pulp Fiction and Staying Alive on the small screen sensation Dancing With the Stars.
We hear Travolta recently said “Thanks, but No Thanks” to an offer to join the cast of stars on the next season of the hit ballroom competition.
An DWTS insider tells Star: “They approached John. Everyone remembers him from Saturday Night Fever
and what a fantastic dancer he is. The ratings would be incredible.”Though Travolta initially expressed interest in a starring stint on Dancing, the actor eventually politely declined, deciding instead to spend his free time at home in Florida with wife Kelly Preston and their two children, daughter Ella and newborn son Benjamin, Star claims.
“Daddy duties are his main priority right now,” the informant adds.
Ok, so what are your thoughts on these possible DWTS contenders? Of these choices, who can you see and not see on the show?

Molly Quigley Moenkhoff also would love to be on Dancing With The Stars
Athlete: Professional Figure Skater and International Medalist. NHL Ice Girl
Reality Star: A CMT Co-host on “Top 20 Countdown” and “Ultimate Coyote Ugly Search”
Singer: Nashville
Hey, Happy New Year everyone. I know this is a DWTS site but is anyone going to cover “LIve to Dance” that is starting Tuesday? It looks somewhat interesting. I might give it a shot….but I record it so I can zap through all the talking by the judges.
Also, I must be old as I did not recognize any of the names of the celebs that want to be on DWTS except Marilou Henner. But then maybe that is a good thing as I won’t have any preconceived opinions about them.
I have no idea who these people you mention are. While it is obvious that DWTS can jump-start a flagging career, or boost a beginner to a new level and a greater fan base, you do have to have something to start with!
I don’t want to see people from reality shows. I really don’t want to see football/basketball/baseball players either.
I’d like the show to be about show business professionals taking on the challenge of ballroom dance. I would like the show to stick with professional actor/singer/dancers who work on stage/film/TV.
I will respectfully disagree on the sports stars, as I am a big sports fan and I like seeing athletes so totally out of their element. I also like how the sports stars come away with the extra appreciation and realization the pro dancers are just as much athletes as the they are.
Out of the people mentioned, I have only ever heard of Danny Gokey, Marilu Henner, and John Travolta. I wouldn’t mind any of them.
I don’t want to see people who have next to zero claim to fame. That would be as boring as taking someone off the street and teaching them to dance.
Well, there will be alot of flack if Marilu gets on the show because she is an accomplished dancer albeit not a ballroom dancer. I would love to see her join because as a dancer myself I completely understand the difference between her training and ballroom training. However I can hear the cries of RINGER RINGER RINGER already if she makes it on the show. Although I’ve never heard of any of the other folks.
I would love to see Danny Gokey on the show! He would be a blast to watch and maybe could get some former idol winners and contestants in the auidence and possibley on the show in the future. Marilu Henner would be cool too. She went decently far on the celebrity apprentice (and in my opinion was unfairly fired). Travolta would be awesome so hopefully he will do the show at one point. As for Chris Massey, I actually like the idea. If I remeber correctly, he hosts or is going to host a show with Kyle. It would be cool to see him paired up with Lacey and to see if he could take home the mirror ball trophy. I never heard of Paul Byrom but I looked him up on youtube and he has a great voice.
I still don’t know what to make about the Lara Bingle rumor though. After reading up on her it seems like she just wants to make a name for herself in the U.S. but maybe the producers might like that so i don’t know. After reading the other Australian celebs that want to be on the show, I thought the same thing. If they want a famous chef, it should be Rachel Ray, Giada D, Emril, or one of the food network people.
I love when athletes are on the show. Some have been really amazing and fun to watch (Kristi, Kurt, Misty, amongst others) while others have been a bust (like the boxer who was paired up with Karina (can’t remember his name) and Chad Ochocinco (just my opinion though) ).
I would love, love, love, to see Danny Gokey on Dancing with the Stars. He would be a tremendous contestant. He is so damn charming and likable. Please have him on. Also he does need to prove Simon wrong. I have seen Danny perform on stage and that boy can move his booty!!
That Australian model is rumored to be on Australian DWTS…not the US DWTS.
Not many rumors this time around. Then again I think i said the same thing last season, and then BOOM everything was leaked.
I just hope that the Danny Gokey and Marilou Henner rumors are true. I ddin’t know she had previous dance experience (all i knew was Taxi lol)
I’d love to see Paul Byrom on the show. He does have a big American fanbase & they’d probably all tune in for DWTS is he is on it. As a tenor he has a great voice, but what makes him good for the show in my opinion is also that he’s witty and enjoys a bit of fun too. And, having toured extensively and for long periods during the last 3 years with Celtic Thunder he’s shown that he’s not afraid of long periods of intensive work which relies very heavily on teamwork.
Marilu Henner is a very good choice – would love to see her do this show. I’m equally in the dark about her previous dance experience, though??
John Travolta would be so cool – boy, wouldn’t that be a coup!
I’ve never heard of half these people either, but that doesn’t bother me – I’ll get to meet someone new
. Audrina, Kyle, Ty, Stacy … these are are just a few people I’d never heard of before and have enjoyed getting to know a little through this show.
I’m not too keen on boycotting athletes from the show – I’ve thoroughly enjoyed way too many of them (Warren, Emmet, Kristy, Evan, Apollo, Helio … just to name the first ones to pop into my head) to want to see a DWTS season without any athletes.
Paul Byrom would bring a new audience to the show and I agree that he has the potential to be great. Maybe he could encourage some of his Celtic Thunder mates to try it as well. Any of them would be fun to watch.
Katy, you’re not alone – with exception of Travolta, Henner, and Gokey, I have not heard of any of these people…and while I have said that I wouldn’t mind really anyone doing the show (as long as they aren’t making it miserable to watch), I agree with Aubie that I don’t want to see a bunch of obscure “stars” on the show, either. If I have to rely solely on their lead-in packages on the show to tell me who these people are, then I don’t think they’re really famous enough to do DWTS. That said – I think there is also such a thing as being “too famous” for DWTS, too…and Travolta falls under that category. He’s too mainstream, and too busy with other, more lucrative projects. And he would INSTANTLY be labeled a ringer (think of all the dancing he’s done in movies – Grease, Saturday Night Fever, Hairspray). And speaking of ringers – while Marilu Henner would be great to watch, I could see some fans in the anti-ringer camp being absolutely VICIOUS towards her because of her training…and they’d probably also be up in arms because she has cohosted America’s Ballroom Challenge on PBS, which was quite possibly the only true ballroom competition show ever to air on American TV (it has been defunct for the past 2 years due to lack of funding…shame
) As for Gokey…*sigh* He was quite possibly my least favorite contestant on Idol in 2009 (due to his often-cheesy song selections and the near constant mentions of his deceased wife), and compared to some of the other contestants that season (Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta), I don’t think he’s really done a whole lot since Idol…but compared to some of these other names that I’m drawing blanks on, I guess he’d be ok to watch. However, Team Anti-Ringer could probably have a heyday with him as well…since he’s danced quite a bit of salsa in the past (with his often-mentioned deceased wife…ai ai ai).
I also find it a bit funny that a lot of fans are putting so much stock in this online voting for potential contestants next season – certain stars (allegedly this iJustine girl and Paul Byrom) may be getting hoards of votes, but TPTB still have the ultimate decision of who gets asked to do the show and who doesn’t, and you best believe they’re quite aware of power voting…meaning that they know when a certain “star” is actually going to appeal to the masses, as opposed to a small cross-section of the population that are particularly fervent voters. I would not be surprised if the big vote-getters in this online voting did not end up on the show…especially since their level of fame is not near the caliber of some of the celebs they’ve had in recent seasons.
If they can’t get Danny Gokey, I wouuld love to see a former Idol contestant on the show. Kelly Pickler would be great as would Kris Allen, Allsion Iraheta, among others. The only former Idol I wouldn’t want to see is Jason Castro. I wonder if the producers would consider Didi Conn or Stockard Channing as contestants for the show (just imagine the Grease fans that would turn in to see that but maybe the ringer status might be pegged on them like people called Jenniffer Grey a ringer cuz she was in Dirty Dancing……..still eithero f them would be a blast to watch lol).
Check out this amazing guy MARK BALLAS who is sending out his newest album HurtLoveBox later this month. His other music is amazing. You should truly check him out. Amazing Song Writer and Performer!
This guy is so amazing because the way he writes his songs make you connect to him in all ways possible. Love all of his songs

Hmmm…looks like the Mark fans are out in full force today promoting his new album. So before this erupts into the Mark Ballas New Album Spam hour, here’s a warning: any more comments plugging Mark’s album or linking to his facebook page will be deleted. We know he makes music, we know his new album is coming out soon, and we know where to go to hear more about it. We don’t need to be reminded constantly about it and we’re not exclusively a Mark fansite. Please, kids – just say no to spam
Now back to your regularly scheduled blogging…
I’d like to see more stars from the 80′s like Scott Baio, Kirk Cameron, Debbie Gibson. No more reality stars!!!
Amen Courtney!!
Back to blogging:
Vin, my picks from the American Idols would be Constatine Maroulis and Ace Young. I just loved those two.
And I’d love to have a whole season full of ringers. Bring them on. I want some good dancing!
It would be awesome to see any of the people from “Boy Meets World” on the show (if i remeber correctly didn’t Topanga (Danieele Fishel) want to do the show last season? Scott Baio would be cool to see on the show as would Kirk Cameron (aka Mike Seaver lol). The only three reality stars I would want to see on the show are Snooki from Jersey Shore (it would be fun to watch and she could possibley end up like the Situation and be likeable outside of her MTV show), anybody from American Idol that isn’t Jason Castro or Sanjaya, and Ivanka Trump (I don’t know if she would be classified as a reality star though since she has a jewlery line and does other stuff for the Trump organization though)
A season of ringers would be awesome. It would make the show even more challenging for the pros too.
“I’d like to see more stars from the 80′s like Scott Baio, Kirk Cameron, Debbie Gibson. No more reality stars!!!” Good suggestion. And MQM-go for it! I don’t see the show changing its pattern-a comedian or more, a senior or more, athletes, an older singer, i.e. Michael Bolton, Belinda Carlisle, a younger signer-i.e. Mya, Nicole, Mel B., reality TV stars, and so on.
That abc voting thing is most likely bullshit. Why do I say that? Well, I’m guessing that abc gets a butt load of advertising dollars from their site and I would bet that it’s tied to hits. Which is why they dont really care about power voters during the season either. Just like I can tell when one person uses multiple names to comment on this site (if I care to look), you can bet that abc can easily distinguish between unique votes and spammers. Spammers are helping no one.
I missed “Live to Dance” yesterday. If anybody saw it was it any good or should I not waste my time? Anyways back to DWTS, I thought of another 80s star that would be good on the show…Tiffany. If they got her and Debbie Gibson it could be cool to see who would last longer.
I, too, like the idea of an entire season of “ringers” – challenging for the pros; fun for us ’cause we’ll get to see lots of good dancing – win, win. Of course, there will be those who will argue over degree – those ringers with “more” experience, or “more compatible” experience.
Scott Baio is another good choice.
I caught a good bit of “live to Dance” (running in the background, so to speak, as I was doing chores around the house) and saw some pretty amazing routines, Had to wince a couple of times too, though. These shows are always better once they’ve been whittled down to the real contenders – some of the audition segments are often painful to watch :/. I’ll probably tune in again tonight to see what’s next.
I can’t believe you all are stealing me and Derek’s idea of an All Ringer season.
http://www.wetpaint.com/the-bachelor/articles/bachelor-fans-push-for-tenley-molzahn-to-join-dancing-with-the-stars-season-12-1
I just read this and I think it would be interesting to see her on the show. I have never seen “The Bachelor” before but my gf watches it and said she was really normal on the show. This could be the person to finally get Maks or Tony a mirrorball trophy.
@Linde- I thought the same thing when I watched it on the second night it was on. It seems like it is a rip off of “SYTYCD” to me with the exception that kids can compete. Nice show but I don’t think it was anything special.
Ugh, please – no more pseudo-celebs from The Bachelor & The Bachelorette. Especially ones that are from several seasons ago – how long has it been since the season with Jake, Vienna, and Tenley? A year? Aside from the train wreck that was Bachelor Pad *shudder*, Tenley really hasn’t done anything of note…she may have been one of the more “normal” girls on that show, but I don’t really think she’s noteworthy enough to be considered a “star”. At least Melissa was from a particularly noteworthy season, in that the bachelor changed his mind after the final rose ceremony – plus she was just a last-minute fill-in. Casting Jake was a bit of a cop-out, IMO; and we’ve already seen Vienna on the show as a guest. I think DWTS needs to let the Bachelor/Bachelorette contestant pool marinate for awhile before testing those waters again.
I’m going to disagree with you a bit on Live to Dance, vin – I actually think it’s kinda nice that LTD just focuses on dancers being great in their own area of expertise, rather than forcing them to learn a myriad of different styles. SYTYCD is great, don’t get me wrong; but sometimes I wish they’d focus more on what the contestants were really good at, rather than trying to make them very well-rounded (often with disasterous results). I also think LTD is a bit more warm & fuzzy, as the judges seem to really offer encouragement and constructive criticism, unlike some of the SYTYCD judges, who seem blunt to the point of being rather, well, discouraging. I think both shows are different enough, and I appreciate both for what they are. If anything, I think LTD is more similar to America’s Got Talent, with the lack of restrictions on age and the number of people in an act.
Hey Vin, nothing comes at that lnk. Can you repost when you get a moment? Thanks so much!

No problem
Got it. Thank you.xx We’ll be sure to add this to the next “DWTS Wannabee” post and credit you.
Do you think the producers would do what they did with Jake and get the Brad to do DWTS right after the bachelor?
Vin, gawd I hope not. I’m with Courtney – enough already with the Bacherlo/ette starlets. That whole series creeps me out a little, and I’d rather it didn’t bleed over into my show, thank you very much. They should let that pool marinate as long as it takes to dissolve entirely
Michael Keaton ? I think he’d be a good contestant, and not a lot of chatter about him in a very long time, so perhaps he’d consider to give his name a boost ?
While Paul Byrom’s small but enthusiastic fan base is voting at the ABC site (and borderline spamming) it is doubtful they will be successful. And Byrom should be grateful if he isn’t chosen. DWTS isn’t where careers are born, it’s where they have their last flash in the pan before they fade away forever. His fans would be doing him a greater service by promoting his music, not his potential for destroying his credibility before it is even established. Let the quasi-stars and fading celebrities have their last shot.
Hopefully ABC will cast “names” and leave the wannabes to establish legitimate careers.
