DWTS – Derek Lands A Movie Role & More Media On Tony, Maks, Cheryl, And Mark!

Let’s get right to it. Our top news story of the Day via Allkpop and Pure Derek Hough: Derek has landed a role in a new dancing movie called “Cobu 3D”. He will be starring with South Korean singer BoA. Here are some details…

BoA will be starring alongside Derek Hough, the champion of America’s hit reality show, ”Dancing with the Stars“. The two stars play the role of dancers who grew up in vastly different environments, and so they knock heads when they first meet at an underground New York club. Although they start off as fierce rivals, they eventually fall into a ‘Romeo and Juliet’ type of love.

Duane Adler (who’s known for his work with “Save the Last Dance” and “Step Up“) will be directing the film, and it’s being co-produced by Robert Cort, CJ Entertainment, and SM Entertainment.

“COBU 3D” aims to escape from the standard dance movies that focus on battles instead of delivering a solid storyline. The film will shed light on a beautiful love story, as well as spotlighting a variety of dance styles including tap, hip hop, and swing.

The movie is scheduled for an early 2012 release, and CJ Entertainment will be distributing it in Korea, China, and Japan. Lionsgate International will be the international sales agent, and they’re planning to begin pre-sales at the Berlin International Film Festival this February.

UPDATE (thanks to Lisa G and Heidi):: Sadly this means, Derek Hough won’t be returning for Season 12 on Dancing With The Stars. Conrad Green, executive producer for DWTS, has made this statement to Access Hollyood.

“Dancing” executive producer Conrad Green told Access they expect Derek to return to the ballroom later this year.

“We wish Derek the best as he takes time off from ‘Dancing with the Stars’ to pursue his film career and look forward to having him return to the show in the Fall,” Conrad said in a statement to Access.

BoA is pictured below in case some of you may not know who she is. More on her and her career at this link.

This is going to be fun especially for us dance movie freaks! Congradulations Derek! You can see him on the set working in this tweet.

Tony has landed a fun role in a new episode of “Are We There Yet” too. Jason Palmer tweeted a picture of the two which you can see below.

Wow, to our pros this year. They’ve had big off seasons. Same with Maks who as you know is currently filming The Bachelor in the Ukraine. Special thanks to a resident and native of Russia named Marina (via tweeters @ScibblerNY and @FLLottodreamer), we have a full English translation of Maks’ new interview from the Ukraine that we reported to you earlier. You can read it in full >>>HERE. I thought this quote was interesting. I’m dying to know, how this will effect his role on DWTS,…that is if there is one this Season?

Q: As far as I know, the indispensable condition for you is to marry after the project…

MC: No! The main thing, I need to propose: all comes to an end with a betrothal (engagement)… Whether there will be a real wedding depends on me. It happens, people change/disagree. Perhaps when I learn more about this girl, she will change, be another person. Or me. But I wouldn’t want that to happen. My decision is serious. You know, I love clever, intellectual women. It is not interesting to me to only communicate on topics of shoes, socks and glasses. Nice to talk about politics, sports, art… Then the relationship will be comfortable.

Q: Is there a marriage contract to sign?

MC: Yes, I gather. But I wouldn’t want to disclose these legal details.

Not only has Cheryl revealed how much being molested hurt her, she also has revealed how hurt she was when a tabloid published photos of her looking heavier. Here is a take from People. Be sure to pick up the new issue which hits new stands today if you’d like to read more.

Secretly, however, the two-time Dancing champ, 26, was devastated, and tried everything from nearly starving herself (“Couldn’t do it,” she says) to diet pills (“Nasty – I felt anxious and shaky).”

Ultimately, the weight came off gradually, thanks to her rigorous dance schedule and a focus on eating plenty of vegetables, avoiding preservatives, and allowing for occasional splurges.

“I love carbs and I love chips,” she says. “I’m not going to deprive myself – but instead of eating potato chips I’ll eat Triscuits or low-fat Cheez-Its.”

Lastly, we have a couple of interviews to share with Mark promoting his new album “HurtLoveBox”. The interview below was taken after his concert at the Hard Rock Cafe in Washington D.C..

From MartinGuitar, Mark discusses his musical influences, the new album, and Chelsie. Much more at the link.

Who would you consider some of your biggest musical influences?
MB: I have a wide range. Growing up, there was a lot of flamenco played in my house. I love Paco de Lucía and the Gypsy Kings. So it was that kind of stuff. I’m a huge Eric Clapton fan. I think today—nowadays—I would say that John Mayer is kind of someone I really look up to, and I love his music. I love Stevie Ray Vaughn, as well… Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, so yeah, all those kind of guys.

When you first started performing, did you play a lot of cover songs, or has it always been an original thing for you?
MB: I think my first gig, I remember, was at a place called the Rugby Club in Guildford, England, and we played about half and half. It was about half our own songs and then we did some covers as well. So usually, the set was about six originals and six covers as well.

Have a sweet weekend All!! More soon! 😉 xxx
