DWTS – The DWTS Las Vegas Odds Have Begun For “Winning Professional Partner”
Would you believe the bettings for “Dancing With The Stars” has already begun in Las Vegas? lol Yep!! Online bettors can now place a wager on which professional dancer they believe will be paired up with the celebrity that takes home the trophy. Here’s how the odds stack up right now for these pros if they were picked to dance. As you know Derek is now out since he’s not returning this Season. Edyta has also tweeted that she wasn’t interested in returning. They haven’t included Peta Murgatroyd on this list either (I think she could be a strong possibility this time if not a regular dancer for the pro numbers). So, do you think they have this list right so far? While we’re talking about pros (and to see if your lists have changed since when we did them a couple of months back), list 12 (or 13) pros for who you’d like to see picked for Season 12.

I am not shocked to see Derek and Mark on top of this list after their sucesses with their partners on the show. I would have thought that Kym would have been ranked higher than Lacey though. Also a little surprised to see Damien ranked so low as well.
Its amazing they are making odds already when we have no clue about the celebs. As far as my choices if you want 12: Mark, Jonathan, Louis, Maks, Damian, Corky, Kym, Karina, Lacey, Anna T, Chelsie, and Cheryl. Will indeed be interesting to see how the odds shake up once we know the celebrities.

They do the odds before every season when the celebs aren’t known – Derek been at the top since before he won with Nicole, but it looks like Louis has moved down and Maks up. I don’t really get why Mark is so close to Derek – I would expect Maks and Mark to be reversed at this point. It’s not like Mark has consistently gotten better partners than Maks – Maks has done quite well for himself, what with Mel B, Brandy, and Erin (to name 3). And if they are basing it on preceived fanbase, I still think Maks should be higher.
I’d like to see Peta on the show as a professional, the producers must like her as she’s been in many of the pro dances. I just wonder which of the ladies will be out if she’s on.
Good question Kelsey! Along with her wicked dancing, Peta photos and films so well. I would bet she has the personality to do the show as well. I would literally jump for joy if she were picked.
Btw, I forgot about Maks’ brother Val. I’d love to see him dance too. I’d like to put him in the place of the Alec or Dimitry choice.
Heidi, I don’t get why they would put Mark at #2 either. Maks should be in that position imo.
I’m not the biggest fan of SYTYCD around, BUT, in case of replacing Derek with a new pro, Pasha Kovalev would definately be the perfect choice for Season 12… And Anya Garnis possibly replacing another female dancer. My list would be:

oooh, that would be awesome… and I so wish this season we get to the finals with different pros. I really want to see what some of them got in hands as some of them had often been eliminated before the finals

1) Mark (He works wonders with every partner except Kim Kardashain but it might not have been his fault since she is really reserved)
2) Maks (He is always so close to winning it all and hopefully breaks this streak)
3) Damien (I really think a mirrorball trophy is in his future if paired with the right celebrity)
4) Louis )brings out his partners persoanlity and really can work wonders as seen through kelly and Niecy)
5) Tony (He is one of my fav. pros and just seems to have bad luck with partners (kate, and kathy ireland) sometimes but wen he gets a good parnter (Stacey, Mellisa, marissa (to some extent since she lit upp the dancefloor), and Audrina) he really makes them do great.
6) Jonathan (he is amazing and as much as people didn’t feel marie osmond didn’t deserve to make the finals over jennie garth, he really made her a good dancer. He also did a great job with Heather Mills as well. I also liked him with Belinda Carlsile as well)
Female:
1)Kym (my favorite pro of all time since she brings the best out of her partners (with exception of hasslehoff who needed a lot more time to be a decent dancer) )
2)Anna T (awesome and deserves a trophy really bad….i persoanlly wanted evan to win his season since she really made him an excellemt dancer)
3)Lacey (fun, exciting, hot, definately will win one day……her work with kyle was top notch he went from longshot to runner up and that is very commendable)
4) Cheryl (but only with a height apropriate partner this season….she is great)
5) Ashley Delgroso (Ashley had a really good partner in season one but after seeing her with Buzz, I want to see her with a really good or a person closer to her age. she could work wonders with a good partner as seen through Joey Mcyntire…who should have been in the finals with Kelly Monaco (just my opinion though) ).
6) Chelsie (not a big fan but she is great as well.)
I looked up Peta as well and she could easily become a fan fav profesional dancer on the show.
I was surprised to see Mark ranked as high too. I like Mark, but its a hit and miss with him for me. I would have chosen Maks for that spot since he’s pretty consistent.
With Derek out this season, it will be interesting who will fill his spot as a pro. I am wondering if they will bring in new blood or will they give the spot to Damien or Dimitry. Though new blood is good and keeps the show fresh, I wouldn’t mind if they gave Damien another chance. Nothing against Dimitry, but not much TV personality.
Kym should be higher. Kym has been to the finals a few times, won. Maybe because David Hasselhoff went out early last season. I am confused why Mark is second. He didn’t do much with Bristol, Melissa or Shannon. He went early with Sabrina who was good but he never adjusted Sabrina’s style to appeal more to viewers. Mark seems to be benefitting from being a two time champ but the rest of his record isn’t impressive and those two wins were with a figure skater and gymnast. Fanbase wise Maks is more popular and should be higher than Mark. I would say Tony’s done better even with his tougher partners than Mark.
Since Derek is out for season 12 I think they’ll either bring back Damien or Jonathan.
I wonder if any of the pros pay attentions to these oddmakers.
I think that the show will probably pick a pro that they have used already to replace Derek instead of getting new blood now. It sounds like they expect him back and he wants to be back for season 13. I’d prefer to get a new male pro to add someone new to the mix. I guess they could do what they did with Fabian Sanchez who filled in for Maks during season 6. I liked him and he never came back.
I think it will probably be Damian in the lineup this season for Derek.

Vin, you forgot Shannen. As for Maks – he needs to be able to choreograph a freestyle in order to be the bride instead of the bridesmaid, if you know what I’m saying. The one with Erin was not good, and his freestyle with Mel B was BORING.
I’d like to see Damian replace (or attempt to) Derek. I don’t know if Derek can be replace – well, he can’t – but I think Damian would bring something new and different. NOT Dmitry or Val, thank you.
I agree with you that mel b’s freestyle was boring but I liked Erin’s freestyle. I totally forgot about shannon lol.
The freestyle has definitely been Maks’ Achilles heel – had he knocked Mel B’s out of the park, I think they could have easily won the MBT over Helio & Julianne; Erin’s was extremely ambitious but fell short in terms of execution – perhaps a little too out of their comfort zone. I unfortunately don’t remember his freestyle with Laila at all. With Derek gone, I could see Maks & whoever he gets as his partner as frontrunners – but he’s going to need step it up in the freestyle category, as that routine can be a game-changer.
I agree with whoever said they won’t be bringing. in any “new blood” in the pro department – they’ve got enough pros waiting in the wings to backfill the vacancy left by Derek this season. I think it will most likely be Dmitry or Damian – I’m hoping for the latter, as I loved him with Pam & he reminds me of my bf
I tend to find Dmitry rather boring, although he seems quite popular with the ladies and seemed to be present in the pro dances this season as much as Damian. Hmmm…guess we’ll see. If it does turn out to be Damian, I think that will increase the odds that Peta does the show this season – I have a feeling they may be trying to make them the “new” Alec & Edyta. Although for Peta to do the show, I think they might have to have one of the other female pros sit this season out – doubt it would be Cheryl, Anna, Chelsie, or Kym, as they seem too popular. Could be Lacey or Karina, but I think they’d have a hard time sitting Lacey out after such a strong finish last season, so most likely Karina…isn’t she getting married, anyway? Or maybe they’ll increase the # of celebs…who knows.
Still makes me giggle that they actually go to the trouble of calculating odds for every single pro who’s ever done the show…seems like a colossal waste of time, as I don’t think we’ll see Charlotte, Brian, Inna, Andrea, Elena, Nick, Jesse, or Fabian ever again.
You almost made me cry when you said that Edyta said she wasn’t coming back. Ugh!
Didn’t we hear that Julianne still wouldn’t be back this season? Maybe I’m confusing seasons since I’ve heard her say “Next season” so many times.

I’m with vin. I really liked Erin’s freestyle with Maks. Probably a bad choice for Maks if he wanted votes, but there was no way Erin was going to win regardless of what Maks did in the freestyle anyway. Either way, I liked their freestyle a lot.
I really don’t get the Damian love, to be honest. But so many people seem to like him there must be something to him that I just missed. But he was one of my least favorite pros on DWTS – ever. However I’m willing to concede that I may have just been distracted by my loathing of his frosted tips.
Mark may not be quite as popular as Maks, but what he does have are fans that are zealous – teenage girls. The ones that aren’t afraid to have 4000 email accounts and vote like crazy all night long. So while his fanbase may be a little smaller, I think they are a force to be reckoned with.
Really, really going to miss Derek this season. Here’s hoping that there will be no Corky and Jonathan will be back!
I totally agree with you. Everybody knew it was between Nicole and Evan so Maks really had nothing to lose. If anything, it showed how far Erin had come over the show and her fearlessness and courage to try something out of the box. If she would have done a more treaditional fresstyle they would have gotten more votes but it still proabaly would have been Evan and Nicole in the final two spots. The only two times that I really liked the third palce finisher’s freestyle (other than erin) were mellissa and tony and lacey and lance (Personally, I was rooting for Lance the entire time during his season. He at least deserved runner up).
Hopefully no Corky this season too. I like the guy and he is a blast to watch BUT I think they only bring him out for the older female conestants. With Cloris, he was fun and they got farther than expected but as much as it was funny it was getting annoying to see her get closer to that trophy without really improving too much. With Florence, it was differn though. I loved her but I think he was underestimating her. She probably could have done better if he hadn’t (just my opinion). If they ever gave him a younger partner, it would be interesting though since the man has so much energy (probably more than Mark). He jsut needs to tone it down sometimes.
Fig, I just want to see what Damian can do when not overshadowed by Pam Anderson – plus I already know I like him more than some of the other likely options (Val and Dmitry).
It’s not so much that I’m a huge fan, it’s just that I don’t like the others very much.
Mark does have those teen fans but is it really that big of a difference? Besides Bristol, Kristi and Shawn who were very popular with their own zealous fans, he hasn’t done well with okay partners like Melissa and Shannen. Like the odds makers, Mark’s popularity and success seems to be overestimated. I have yet to see him take celebs who are okay and take them on a decent run like Maks, Louis and Derek have done.
Maks and Erin’s freestyle was good. I liked it. It is not what we were are used to seeing in a freestyle round and it worked to Erin’s past dance background strength. But I think Maks still struggles because while he is an amazing ballroom dancer, he is not as amazing in other styles. Mark, Derek, Julianne and Lacey can all dance other styles and I think that is why they do better in the freestyle round.
Damian and Peta intrigue me. Damian came off very patient. They need to bring in taller pros like Fabian and on the female side like Anna D though. Rick Fox was perfect for Anna since she is so tall.
I agree John – I think Mark is overrated in this batch of odds. He does seem to have a good fanbase, but I also think (and I’m probably going to catch hell for this) that he really lucked into having 2 Olympians as partners – not only because they had fervent fanbases of their own, but their athleticism made them a bit more trainable than more “average” partners like Kim, Melissa, and Shannen. Kim & Shannen were early exits, and I think Melissa may have made it to the midpoint of the sesaon…not exactly impressive finishes. As for Bristol – that had to be completely fanbase-related, because I honestly did not see a huge improvement in her dancing during the course of the season. I think a lot of Mark’s inflated value here has more to do with his partners’ appeal than anything else.
You make a good point about Derek, Mark, Julianne, & Lacey being more well-rounded dancers than some of the other pros – it definitely seems to appeal to the masses a bit more than those who are absolutely fantastic Latin dancers (Maks, Anna T., Karina, Louis)that struggle with other styles. I loved the idea of the contemporary freestyle, and appreciated the risks they took – but when it came to actually executing it, I had to cringe a bit at how uncomfortable Maks looked doing some of the moves. Not his fault – it just wasn’t part of his dance vocabulary. But when so many of the really great freestyles fuse ballroom moves with hip-hop, contemporary, and ballet, it’s important to have that vocabulary up your sleeve in order to stand out.
As for Damian – I think his appeal comes from his laid-back, patient attitude, much like Kym’s appeal…maybe it’s an Aussie thing. I can’t recall Damian ever raising his voice with Pam, just like I can’t recall Kym ever mincing words with any of her partners. It’s sort of refreshing to have a few drama-free pros around while some of the couples are yelling, crying, and and storming out of practice.
Agree about Mark Ballas’ fan base being full of teenage girls who vote their fingers off. And I also agree about him lucking out with his extremely coachable figure skater and gymnast. I can’t wait for him to take a season off and “focus on his music.”
