Dancing with the Stars Season 12 Music Suggestions
Before I had the bright idea to start working with amazing DWTS writers like Heidi, Courtney, Vogue and Marianya, Pure DWTS was really all about the music on Dancing with the Stars. Sure, I’d write the occasional blog post talking about DWTS or DWTS news, but nothing compared to what you see on Pure DWTS now.
Despite the growth of Pure DWTS, I still like to do my best listing the Dancing with the Stars music from each season of DWTS. I’m usually a little slow, but I’m planning to post the Dancing with the Stars season 12 music list after each episode of DWTS. In fact, here’s a link where you’ll be able to always see the latest DWTS Season 12 music that’s been posted.
In order to carry on with my DWTS music tradition, here’s my post with some suggestions on possible DWTS season 12 music. Although, this time I decided to switch it up and list the top 15 music on iTunes as possible songs on DWTS. I’m quite sure they’ll use a number of these songs this season. Which of these songs do you think will be on the show?

I’m loving Lady Gaga’s new “Government Hooker” song too that she previewed during a recent Murgler fashion show recently. It’s actually a better song than Born The Way (imo).
I’m loving the new songs from Britney Spears. In fact, I have a feeling her new upcoming album is going to be my favorite from them all.
Anyway, that is a perfect list!!! I wouldn’t mind some classic songs from Prince and Michael Jackson again.
I’m sure Lady Gaga will be used, plus they haven’t used Bad Romance. I’m sure they’ll also use some Rihanna like Only Girl and S&M.
Sex Therapy by Robin Thicke would be a good rumba song.
First Time Ever I Saw your Face by Roberta Flack I think would be a perfect Waltz or Rumba
Rythym Is Gonna Get You by Gloria Estefan is a perfect Samba song
Be My Lover by La Bouche- Tango
Am I the only person that hears a song and ten like can invision a certain dance going along with that song??

The Jennifer Lopez’ one is great! Some of the songs of your list are albums, does it mean you’d like any of the song of the album ?
As far as I’m concerned, I still wish a paso on“Uprising” by Muse, a waltz on “Jumeji’s theme” from “In the Mood for love”, a rumba on “Come on get higher” by Matt Nathanson and I wouldn’t mind a tango on “welcome to burlesque” by Cher
Prince’s “Kiss” as a tango worked really well on Glee. Didn’t like the singing that much, but the song has an intensity and is better than some of the music DWTS has used for tango in the past! I also think love song from the movie Tangled would make a lovely waltz — perhaps from the Disney girl in the cast or Petra?
While I love Matthew Morrison, I really didn’t think he and Gwinnie tango’ed all that well.
Beth, I’d love Prince’s KISS covered. Loved the Glee Tango number last week!
Heidi, you are right. There are a lot better dancers out there who could Tango much better than Gwen and Matthew.
OMG I love Jumeji’s theme – I’ve been saying that they should have it on the show forever. I could even see a really subtle but powerful tango out of it. In The Mood For Love is one of my all time favorite films.

Straight Through My Heart and The Call by the Backstreet Boys will make good Tango/A.Tango/Paso songs. Haha! Was listening to them and though of that. And their old school ballads would make food Rumbas/Waltz. They need to play BSB!

Has anyone ever used Heartless (more the Kris Allen version than Kanye’s)? I think that could make a good Rumba or something.
That list looks great! I do like it when they stick to more traditional songs for the Paso, though.
I think the band is great, but I really do wish they could just play a recording of the actual song. Sometimes the band’s version, while very good, sounds significantly different than the original. I assume the couples rehearse to the original track, so it seems to me that it might be hard to dance to a different one. Who knows, that’s just my opinion.
Hold it Agianst Me by britey spears would be cool. As for the Prince song on Glee, i really was excited to hear it but it was bad. Matthew Morrison singing that high needs to not happen lol. Gwyneth sounded better on landslide and the joan jett song too.
In the french version, they used the Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter for a viennese waltz, I don’t know if it has already been used in the US version but I’d like to see it.
Kiss was already covered in Nicole and Derek’s season, with their sassy Cha Cha Cha. Not sure if Prince will give the rights to it again?
I also like Stereo Love, it has the Lambada riff to it that Jennifer Lopez samples in her new tune as well, but it’s a little more dreamy dance club than hip hop.
I also think Bruno Mars- Just The Way You Are could be covered and modified tempo to suit a Cha Cha.
“Beautiful Girl” featuring BoD could also be a cha cha or slowed down for a nice Rumba… And ” Marry Me ” could be modified to suit a Quickstep.

They used the Theme from Harry Potter on the US version, Miss Pompom – either Season 5 or 6 and I think it was Edyta.

I dont know how old the people are posting on this site or how many have actually danced in ballroom competition. Heres the thing: in ballroom dance you dont make the dance go with the song, you select the song that goes with the dance! The music they select on here is horrible. None of the songs used for cha cha on the first episode were actually cha cha songs. The same can be said for foxtrot except for Aint That a Kick in the Head. The music should suit the dance. I can tell you that no songs by Lady Gaga or Ke$ha are suitable for ballroom dancing.
I think the version of ‘Don’t be cruel’ by Cheap Trick would be a good song for the Jive….an oldie but a goodie.
