DWTS12 – Chris Brown and Toby Keith To Perform On Dancing With The Stars
Extra is reporting Chris Brown is to perform on Dancing With The Stars next Tuesday, March 29. However, there was talk ABC might cancel his appearance after an outburst on Good Morning America yesterday.
While promoting his new album “F.A.M.E.” on “GMA,” the singer seemed calm when answering anchor Robin Roberts’ questions about his ex-girlfriend Rihanna, but afterwards, apparently lost it, ripping off his shirt, picking up a chair and allegedly smashing a window.
Ok, I would definitely say he still has some issues. Be sure to take our new Poll below (Thanks Sasa) for what you think will or should happen.
Toby Keith is also slated to perform on the show according to his Twitter page and Taste of Country.
Toby Keith took to his official Twitter page today and posted this message: “Just back from spring break w/ family & heard I’m SINGING ON DWTS.” Even though it sounds like this was sprung upon Keith very suddenly, we are definitely excited to see what he has in store for his performance.
No official word has been released on when Keith will perform, but since the news is coming straight from Keith himself, it sounds like a sure thing. Hmm … we wonder if his daughter Krystal will join him when he hits the ‘DWTS’ stage!

Lots of outcry on Twitter about Chris Brown as well. People don’t want to see him, but DWTS has never been afraid of a little controversy. In fact, I think they like it.
You guys should open a poll on whether they will go with him or not.
Having seen a lot of domestic violence, I actually empathize with Chris Brown and his frustrations. Good people sometimes do harmful things. It’s not right, and we should do all we can to prevent and treat such cases, but far be it from me to condemn anyone for such behavior when I have seen how people CAN change. However, what he did was wrong and for many people it’s just too soon to forget what he did – and unlike many cases of domestic violence that we hear from celebs, we saw the end result in those pictures of Rihanna. He feels that he’s paid his debt because he is getting praised in court, and he feels the public court of opinions should be following him. To a certain degree he was getting there, but he was not as far as he thought he should be. That kind of “persecution” frustration can be very overpowering. He needs to do a few things – get therapy, show more contrition and speak about what he did was really wrong, not calling it “the incident”. People would be quicker to accept it – and now with this latest outburst he is going to feel the pressure even more. He reminds a lot of someone I know very well, and that person hasn’t been violent in a long long time – but when it originally occurred, it was a terrible domino effect that led from one “incident” to another, and then guilt, pressure, stress and other things led to increased frequency of his violence. It was only when he really truly accepted the problem with his actions and was truly sorry not for looking bad – but for causing someone harm – that he was able to really move on and work with a therapist. As I said, he was able to rehabilitate and hasn’t been violent at all in many years – so I hope for Chris Brown’s sake that he takes that path rather the one he is on.
Good idea Sasa! DONE!!!!!
I voted “No”. Controversy is good and I want to see him perform. lol
I think that’s what everyone wants for him Fig, but as you stated he’s not there yet, and to see young girls still idolize him terrifies me. Don’t give them anything to idolize until he “gets’ it, as you so eloquently said.
People are so fascinated with train wreck behavior nowadays I’m afraid he will be included in that mix. Which is so contra productive for the person with an issue- be it anger management, drug use or something else. As I already said my instinctive reaction to, when someone is destructive/auto destructive is to look the other way and leave the person to work through whatever it is they need to work through.
And it’s not just a question of what is better for CB it is also about what the public says is acceptable behavior to young people. Saying that beating the crap out of your girlfriend, never truly publicly taking the blame for it but rather saying “what I went through” and then this foolishness after the interview- if this all results in more publicity and more money his way (which is not unlikely), I truly think we are failing as a society to convey the right message.
And I don’t know what to answer in the poll because for me it should be double. Yes I think they should cancel him but I’m not so sure they actually will.
I think what bothers me most about Chris is that, though I do think he truly is sorry for what he did, it’s outbursts like the one at GMA that make me worry that he is still prone to violent behavior. I think a crucial part of the rehabilitation process for someone who has committed a crime is the ability to talk about it calmly, express remorse, and then continue to move on with bettering their own lives. The fact that Chris still seems to get very rattled at the mention of his transgressions leads me to believe that he’s not 100% healed yet. The hard part about making mistakes when one is in the public eye is that they don’t get to sweep it under the rug – they are reminded of it again and again, and it’s up to them to address it with tact and class. I think Chris may be a long way away from that point right now.
Judging from his most recent outburst on GMA, I would hope that Chris is on his best behavior at DWTS – and hopefully no one brings up the Rihanna situation. But if he reacts so strongly to that, it makes me wonder just what else might push his buttons
Excellent comment Figmentation! ITA!! I hope Chris Brown is able to get the help and therapy he needs. He is a young man, who is obviously harvesting a lot of anger, maybe even from his own experiences with domestic violence as a kid. He is so incredibly talented and I would hate to not see him make it. I’m hoping his family and maybe even some of the older artist can rech out to him, he needs it.
I don’t think he needs reaching out to as much as he needs to understand that kind of behavior is wrong. And if you look at the photos of him smiling broadly and relaxing around town after GMA I seriously doubt he gets it. I just have a really bad feeling about this all, I sincerely hope it doesn’t escalate into something worse.
Sasa, I changed the wording in the poll a little. I hope that works better.
Great replies all. I hope Chris is able to get help too. I know it’s hard sometimes, but I always try to keep the artist seperate from the person or their issues, mistakes, or hardships. As some know, I’m a big fan to Madonna. I haven’t always agreed with her on some things or some of the decisions she’s made, but, that can be said of everyone when you think about it and I have loved everything she’s ever done musically.
Also, to balance it out, I hope DWTS is planning to book Rihanna too (who I prefer as an artist much more).
Thanks Vogue!
I guess we are different in this sense. Artists I like are the ones who’s music (or writing or whatever) I enjoy but who also appear to me to be nice enough people. And by that I don’t mean nice in a sense that they should not be dark, unconventional, moody, hyper, depressed or whatever people can be. Nice meaning that they care enough about their fans that they reach out in one way or another to share their soul a little. It can be with interviews or interwoven within their art. I think that without those little pieces of humanity everything soon becomes rather dull.
Yeah, Sasa, I’m with you. And it’s been this way for a long time and it’s improving.
It’s the way he seems to make it about something that happened TO him instead of something he did that really irks me. Nothing happened to you – YOU did something wrong. If you “went through” crap because of it – well, you reap what you sow. If ONLY he would take the path that Fig describes, then maybe he wouldn’t continually be in the position he’s in.
What was the consequence for losing it at GMA?
Is he being charged with anything?
@ Heidi
If you’re scared we get along too well we must go back to the Derek issue. lol That should allow some comfortable butting of heads.
@lizzbeth
No consequence. They didn’t press charges.
@lizzbeth – No formal charges, but it’s just bad publicity for him.
I don’t know how authentic this quote is…BUT
An ABC insider tells BMS, “look we’d be crazy to tell him no, you know America will be watching because they want to see if he nuts up again. I hope he doesn’t but you never know we’ll just have to wait and see”.

I have to admit, I wish DWTS cancels his performance. But that’s at least partially because I don’t like his music in the first place…
Well, Sasa, I wasn’t talking about agreeing with you “for a long time”, but that the trainwreck watching has been going on for a long time.
Oops, sorry. Misunderstood.
Hm, I still don’t get what is improving. You think people are getting less fascinated by it?
Ah, there should have been a “not” in there. That’s what I get for commenting when I’m in a rush.
Oh, now I get it! Not having “not” threw me. I thought it was a strange comments you made, honestly.
OK, all clear.
*a strange comment*
Before you explained it, that it.
Jeez, maybe we should just bang on drums and send smoke signals. Would be easier.
Wow, check out the Poll results if you haven’t yet.
Wrong message and Dumb Idea to let this little PUNK perform on DWTS. He is a Bully and should get NO air time at all for his new album.
Here’s my question: what songs is he going to be performing? Because from what I’ve heard from his new album, I’m not sure a lot of it is…ABC appropriate. With songs like “No B——t” and “Wet the Bed” in his new album repertoire, what exactly is he going to sing that isn’t going to have the crap censored out of it? If he’s singing old (appropriate) stuff, isn’t it gonna be kinda pointless if he’s trying to promote the new album? This is just weird to me on so many levels.
Chris could sing his new song beautiful people. It is very uplifting. I think people should try to let Chris heal and redeem himself . Everybody deserves a second chance. You can’t change and improve if everyone keeps punishing u for a past mistake.
If you want to hear this punks new song, go buy it but don’t subject clean living, decent people to this piece of trash. He doesn;t have respect for anyone and only cares about himself.
Courtney asked what song he could possibly sing. I was suggesting one. I don’t call people I don’t know pieces of trash . Then again I’m not perfect. RU? Geez, why so hostile? ISSUES!
Stacey, you need to look in the mirror when it comes to issues and you also need to take a close look at your posting style if you want to know why people are reacting to you the way they are. Or why they’re simply ignoring you.
Well Princess Heidi, is that why every one ignored my questions about the Rihanna S&M video ? Oh I get it, because they don’t like my previous opinions they refuse to answer relevant questions. No, It was because I made a valid point and none of the geniuses on this site seem to know how to respond unless it’s snarky.
Oh jeez, staceyk, did it ever occur to you that maybe no one here gives a shit about the S&M video? It has nothing to do with what we’re talking about right now; and from the way you even posted the question, it just looks like you’re trying to start some ridiculous “Chris vs. Rihanna” fan war. Clearly, it’s not what anyone here wants to discuss, or else they would have done so already. If you think that no one responding to it means it’s a “valid point”, you’re downright delusional…but since you’re just DYING for someone to talk about it, here ya go: it sounds like you’ve got a beef w/Rihanna, & hating on that video is your way of letting us know. Now move on to talking to something relevant & quit posting such antagonizing comments or I’ll start deleting them.
Stacey, look at your posting style and the implications of what you SAY – nearly every single thing you write on this site reads as NASTY. I usually either ignore or ridicule nasty people – I certainly don’t waste time trying to have a discussion with them. Congratulations. If you manage to find a relevant point, I will let you know.
