DWTS – Dancing With The Stars “Design a Dance” For A Special Performance (POLLS)
If you haven’t heard yet, Dancing With The Stars is holding another “Design A Dance” contest where you, the viewer, can vote for your favorite two professional dancers to dance for a special performance on the show, as well as design the dance concept. So far, the dance chosen for this special performance is the Jive. The song chosen is “We’ve Got the Beat” by The Gos Gos. To vote for your two favorite dancers and/or read more details on how you can design a dance concept, click on this link at the official Dancing With The Stars site. Note: You can vote as many times as you like.
Last year, one of our lucky readers of Pure Dancing With The Stars named Abby won the “Dance Concept” with her submission. She won a trip to Los Angeles and a day on the set as a reward. Be sure to read on her awesome experience here.

I voted for Anna and Maks then voted agian for Anna and Mark. Either way it’ll be good. I have a feeling that cheryl is going to be chose though since she is probably the fan fvorite female pro since season 2.

As much as I HOPE that it’s Anna & Maks, I worry that we’re going to end up with Mark & Lacey. Mark has been in 2 previous Design-a-Dances (season 8 & season 9), and Lacey has been in one (season 8). Cheryl has been in one (last season), but I think that was thanks to the efforts of Heidi & PDH forming an alliance with the Cheryl fans
The other two “common denominators” in the Design-a-Dance – Derek & Julianne – are gone. Then again, with Derek gone, it could leave the door wide open for the guys.
I voted Kym and Tony!! I almost went Maks and Anna but I just love Kym so much and her and Tony work good together. Anna’s awesome too though. Did anyone else notice her in Suger Ray and hers Paso. I know that the dance wasnt the greatest but that dance really suits her fierce russian attiute so she really shined. Love yall’s comments!!
I voted Karina and Maks just because they were ex lovers and it would be fun to see how the DAD would turn out with them. They both are great dancers. If not them hope it would be Maks and Anna or Dmitry with Anna or Karina.
Well, I think the Lacey fans have FINALLY gotten the clue that Mark wants to dance with Chelsie – and Chelsie doesn’t have as many fans so that alliance may not work. Lacey is pimping the HELL out of herself (as usual) and Mark is pimping himself and Chelsie. Problem is – lots of Derek fans drink the “Mark is Derek’s best friend so I must vote for him” Koolaide, so Mark has a very good shot at winning. I don’t like Koolaide.
However, if the Maks fans get organized they should have a shot. When Mark won in S9 it was on the Mark/Sabrina shippers and their fans from Season 5. When he won in Season 8, Derek and Julianne were also dancing it – which I found odd. Like perhaps they didn’t want Derek and Julianne to win 2 seasons in a row – or it was just that close.
Yeah, I worry that unless the Maks fans can make a strong, organized effort, we are gonna get stuck with Mark again
And I’m not sure I can stomach another chaotic jive from Mark – one per season is about all I can take! Maks fans, for the sake of my digestive system, PUH-LEASE – vote hard, & vote often. I will join you 
As for the other male pros – I don’t think they stand much of a chance against powerhouses like Maks & Mark. I will be very surprised if Louis, Dmitry, or Tony manages to get it.
The women may be a bit more of a wild card. Lacey may be pimping herself hard, but she doesn’t have the advantage of any more really good exposure this season, since she’s already been eliminated. I doubt it will be Karina, since she seems the most polarizing; I think Kym might have a slight edge over Anna & Chelsie. But if enough folks are drinking the bromance Kool-Aid, (or just love Mark) I could see it being Chelsie.
I voted for Tony. Poor Tony, got stuck with Kate, got stuck with Wendy. He deserves something nice.
And Anna, just cause she rocks!

For several seasons, it seemed that Cheryl was one of the stars of the show, featured predominantly. But I think Anna and Kym are coming on as a reason folks turn in.

I don’t get why Lacey is so popular. Can someone explain that, please? She really turns me off – I’m not sure why, but she does. Maybe its because she doesn’t seem as gracious as the other female pros. IDK, but I am not too fond of her, and wonder why others are. I voted for Kym and Max!

I think Lacey’s appeal to so many is the fact that she is different from the resto f the pros. She is definately brings out her youth and fun side through her dancing and choreography (which can be hit or miss. Hit: Kyle’s cha cha and lances dances Miss: Mike Catherwood’s first dance). Also, her rebellious nature is appealing in a way. She has a persoanlity similair to Maks…..people either love her or hate her. I’m not a huge fan but she defiantely is entertaining. Hopefully, she goes back to her original hair color as well.
Even if Maks and Karina garnered the most votes I doubt that producers would pair them up. I do miss them dancing together.
My vote went to Maks and Kym. I’d love to see Mark and Chelsie dance.
@David – I find myself saying the same thing about Lacey pretty often
I guess I can understand why she’s so well-liked by the younger set – she’s carved out a niche as the “rebel” of the ballroom, and doesn’t always like to play by the rules. But at the same time, I agree about her personality – it drives me (and Heidi) nuts how everything about her seems to scream “Me, me, me!” And she’s got a bad case of verbal diarrhea – I think she’s stuck her foot in her mouth with regards to the show on more than one occasion.
Anywho…glancing at Twitter this morning, it looks like people are now campaigning for a Lacey & Maks DaD. The Maks part, I agree with – he seems to be gaining support, and could give Mark a run for his money – Lacey? Er, not so much. Maks & Lacey are just a dancing odd couple to me – their styles are too different to mesh well. Give me Maks & any of the other ladies – preferably Anna
Also interesting to note – Chelsie’s vote total seems to have skyrocketed overnight. I would say that the Mark fans are likely behind it, but it looks like Mark has fewer votes than Chelsie…which tells me that not every Chelsie fan wants to see her dancing with Mark
Interesting. At this rate, we could end up with a Chelsie/Maks DaD.
Courtney, I think you’re right. You really can’t depend on polls like this so this poll may not be accurate. A lot of youths who are fans of Mark’s, Derek, Lacey’s or Chelsie’s like to “abuse” polls and click away for hours and make it look like most people are voting for that person. More polls need to have a block or limit for IP addresses but they don’t. They let people mislead others.
As for who I want… Kym Johnson! Cheryl and Lacey have already done DAD before so it’s Kym’s turn. I’m so sick and tired of all the youths clicking away for hours on the voting so that’s why I say let Kym do it now and Chelsie can do it another season. Kym has been on the show since season 3 and has yet to be doing it. Chelsie has been on since season 8 and I think DAD started in season 7. I’m also sick of people saying “youth rules the show.” I think it’s high time we show that “old people” are not stupid and don’t know a thing about technology like texting or the Internet!
@Liz – Yes, this poll may not be an accurate representation of the voting as a whole, but one thing we do have going for us is that our polls do take IP addresses into account – you can only vote once from a specific IP address
So all those power voters can click all they want – their vote is only going to count once in our poll. The one thing I wish we had the power to do is link the polls so we could see who people were voting for as a couple – for example, “52% of the people who voted for Maks also voted for Anna” or “26% voted for Maks & Anna, while 33% voted for Maks & Lacey”. Would be interesting to see if there is one particular pairing that is dominating the voting.

No I’m talking about the poll in this article – it’s our own PureDWTS poll through PollDaddy. I’m not the one that created it, so I don’t know for sure, but I’m pretty sure that it allows you to opt whether you want to limit voting by IP address or not. Vogue, can you confirm? All I know is that I just tried to vote a second time and it told me it had already registered my vote. So it must be working.
You are correct, Courtney. A person can only vote once in our two Polls (in the very first post).
I definintely voting for Karina this time. I think she will be amazing in this dance. I’m Not sure about the male pro but I think I’ll be voting for Dmitry.
I know that this isn’t related to the poll, but I heard this morning that Karina will be in the May issue of Playboy (as the Playmate). I’m a little surprised that TPTB agreed to that, but maybe contractually they couldn’t stop her.

As for TPTB – I’m not sure if they had a legal leg to stand on with regards to stopping her from doing it, but I’m not sure they would want to. They do seem to love a good controversy, so this seems right up their alley…although anymore (at least to me), posing for Playboy doesn’t seem nearly as taboo as it once was. Seems more socially acceptable now than it ever was before – and she wouldn’t be the first DWTS cast member to do it. Joanna Krupa did it, Kelly Monaco did it, and I believe Stacy Keibler has, and of course, Pam Anderson is a Playboy legend. Seems only natural that a pro would do it after awhile.
My problem with Lacey is that she’s so extremely self promoting that it’s a turnoff. The only other person that I see pimp themselves as much on Twitter is Mark.
Heh, what makes me laugh is that what I see on twitter is Maks paired with just about every female pro by the people who are campaiging – which means that Maks stands a VERY good chance of winning as long as those people do the same sort of INSANE power voting that Mark’s fans do. The question is – who will be the female??
It’s not abusing a poll, Liz, if it’s designed so that you can vote as often as you want. They want people to vote like mad. There is something to be said for pros who have followers with a high degree of passion in any case. That said, I never thought Derek would win over Mark because I never got the feeling that a large number of people were seriously spending a ton of time voting for him. I think Derek’s fanbase actually skews a tiny bit older than Mark’s does – and that does make a different. But to cry abuse is wrong, IMO. You want someone to win? You campaign and you get people to vote. You don’t get enough people to win? Well, that’s the way it goes.
All THAT being said – of course DaD or any other poll is not a true indicator of popularity all by itself BECAUSE people can spend hours (if they have nothing better to do) voting over and over again. That is a no brainer. Unlike the regular show voting, there are no constraints on it at all, plus the average viewer probably completely forgets about DaD altogether. So, the decision is left up to the online fans – and those who are willing to give up a significant chunk of time, win. Add in that if you are someone like Derek who has a huge number of internet followers relative to everyone else except Cheryl, then you have an additional advantage – albeit a real one (many followers) as opposed to a false one (young fans willing to vote for hours). Of course, I’ve never seen Derek EVER pimp himself for DaD, and neither has Cheryl, Maks, Kym or many of the others. The only ones who pimp themselves are the ones who tend to win – Mark, Lacey and (to a much lesser extent) Chelsie. Although Louis has pimped himself before, but I didn’t give him much of a shot. That used to annoy me so badly about Derek – he would never do it. If he had, he probably would have won every time.
I realize now that you’re talking about PollDaddy polls – but I think my comment still applies to the post.
I do know that all the self-pimpage will make me vote for Maks and Anna.

I voted for Chelsie and Dmitry, but if this poll is any indication of the actual results, I wouldn’t mind Maks and Chelsie dancing together. I saw a pap interview with Maks and Tony before this season started where they were talking about the pros and both said that Chelsie is very easy to partner and has really good technique. I’ll try to find it and post the link. Didn’t Maks and Chelsie dance together for a bit on a result show last season? I think it was John Legend.
I am now leaning towards a Tony/Chelsie or Tony/Cheryl DaD. He needs some DWTS love. He has been designated as the official lifter of Julianne (before), and now Chelsie. He has a lot more to offer in my opinion. Maybe if the producers see him beam with Chelsie or Cheryl, they will assign a young firecracker to him next time.

I’m pretty sure that it only blocks voting based on the cookie. Easily manipulated, but this isn’t science we’re talking about here. Vogue could have turned on the IP address restriction, but probably didn’t (and probably shouldn’t). Cookie restriction of the poll is good enough for this unscientific fun poll.
We could move to a Google Docs form that’s almost survey style and then we could see the correlation on who voted for who. Definitely would be interesting to see the results.

I guess you’re right that you just have to campaign and that kind of thing to get your favorite to win but it’s hard to do that when the pro isn’t that popular. One person campaigning won’t do it. I saw that someone created a campaign video for Lacey to win it all and she does keep on promoting herself to win DAD on twitter and her fans do it like every hour or every other hour (I think twice a day is enough) on twitter so it’s very annoying. I say that if your favorite don’t win, there’s always next season! I always keep that in mind until Kym finally won in season 9. I hope Kym wins, even though she probably won’t because she’s not as popular as Lacey, Cheslie and Mark, because it’s time that the older pros get exposed some and to show people that old people are not dumb and can’t figure out new technology. Kym has been on since season 3 and has yet to participate. Hopefully this season or one season, she will. I don’t get why Lacey’s fans want her to do DAD so badly that they had to make a video. She already did DAD in season 8. I guess I could make a video too but I just don’t allow myself the time. I have a life! Clearly, the young ones don’t. Aren’t they supposed to be in school anyway? lol. In fact, I keep forgetting to write another weekly blog. Well, we do our best!
