SPOILERS!! DWTS Season 12, Week 5 – The Results
And the most craptastic week of DWTS ever has a most craptastic final result. Petra and Dmitry leave the ballroom ahead of a much more deserving evictee. Never have I hated to be right more than right now. Sucks.
And to top it off, we get another THEME week next week – guilty pleasures. Gee, Tom, DWTS is rapidly becoming the biggest guilty pleasure of all. Does this mean you’re going to do self parody next week? Lord help us.
What do ya’ll have to say?

Yep, you were right! Oh man, this is just so sad. Petra was the heart of the show this year. What a beautiful person in and out. I won’t ever forget her and her message about Happy Hearts. LOVED her! And props to Dmitry too. It was great to see another side to him.
So, now we have to put up with another week of Kendra. UGGH
And Zach and Nathan, I’m so sorry!
Petra was real. Her tears at the end were genuine and dammit, she deserved longer! Arghh… pisses me off.
and these theme weeks are pissing me!!!!!!!
hate american week and already hated guilty pleasure week too.
very very sad after an amazing classic week.
I really liked petra, will miss her…
and so kendra becomes the bristol of this season?
still can’t believe that abc is ruining this season that was very good until this america week happens… argh!
Well, Petra is a class act and I’m glad she at least lasted this long. There goes the last of genuine joy and light. And this is saying something – the show tonight was an even bigger mess than last night. Not too often Tom looks unprepared. I used to hope for one train wreck every few shows – now there are so many it’s kind of all running together.
Crap! Crap, Crap, Crap, Crap, Crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry if I’ve offended anyone. I just had to say it.
What’s it going to take to get rid of Kendra?
And now “Guilty Pleasures” week to look forward to. Oh, joy.
@Evaine, Amen. I think a lot of hearts broke when Petra and Dmitry were eliminated tonight. Here’s to her incandescent spirit. We’ll miss our DWTS Angel.
Ugh, this definitely sucks. But the sad truth is that even if Kendra is out next week, every week after that is gonna be tough because there are so many likeable people this season. Sigh.
I’m not Kirstie’s biggest fan but can you imaaaaaagine the outrage if Kendra outlasts her? Yikes.
Oh joy another week of Kendra. Boo..
Petra was elegant and sweet she will be missed. What an honor to have gotten to know who she is as a person.
On another note, did Tom say Pia is singing next week, and Mark is dancing. Oh god, I think Im going to puke.
@ck410. Agree that losing anyone other than Kendra will be difficult. Tuesdays are going to get rough. But the thought of losing anyone else and keeping Kendra is almost unbearable.
Also, WTF was up with putting Chris in the “bottom 2″ again? Poor guy already had to go through that 2 weeks ago. Unless they’re really trying to spook the wrasslin fans into voting for him more.
You all need to face the fact that Kendra is gonna be here awhile. For some reason or another a lot of people like her and are voting for her. I like her and I dont see all this unlikeable behavoir that you all speak of but I digress.
Another theme week!!?? You cannot be serious!?! And guilty pleasures week?!? What in the hell!! How can you dance around that?!?
Popularity aside and pro aside, who is the best DANCER of the remaining contestants? Will enjoy your thoughts.
Poor Petra it should of been Kendra first.
Poor Chelsie Hightower and having her fake boobs pop out like that again on TV. It’s like the 2nd time now that has happened to her like that on DWTS
Wonder why Chris keeps being in the bottom 2 if’s not really there as Tom said again this week?
Gulity pleasure week sounds like no buneo either but we will see. Will it be better than american week?
Greg, What makes you think Kendra is gonna be here for awhile?? After next week unless Romeo takes a plung, shes gone, she hasnt done anything shocking as far as votes getting yet and not to be rude but really? You havnt seen her unlikable behavior? Really? Thats all I can say. Poor sweet Petra! Nathan why does this keep happening to us???
Voguerista, thank you!
Words cannot describe how sad I am at this point. Zach, I gave it my all! I gave her 240 votes, but let’s face it, 240 is nothing when you compare to other larger fan bases. Maybe a higher score could have saved her but, nonetheless, this is such a sad night.
Petra, I love you! You did not deserve to go home this week and everyone else I am watching you like a hawk for the simplest mistakes! I AM HAWKED!!!
Goodnight!
Sad that sweet Petra is gone and the Hef castoff is still around. Perhaps if all Petra fans vote agressively for anyone BUT Kendra the problem will be solved and Petra will have given us another gift!
Whatever happened to just doing a week of the show…you know, dancing, scoring, voting, elimination, without a theme to it all? Of course they would have to brand it as, “The No Theme Theme Week!”
Thankyou..for explaining how fan votes figure in.I could never find a good site to tell me..You were so right on the final result. How many middle age men are watching and voting for kendra..just cant see how she keeps making it..
I don’t think a lot of middle aged men watch, Dan. I’m not sure who is voting for Kendra. Any ideas guys??
I would vote for Kendra and Kirstie (if I didn’t have to watch via DVR). I’ve watching Kendra’s reality show, and I actually kind of like her (as I’ve said before). Petra was sweet, but quite boring (and not very good). Same with Chris and Hines (for me). I’d be okay with the following order of elimination from here on out:
Next week: Chris
2. Hines
3. Kendra
4. Romeo
5. Ralph
6. Chelsea
7 (winner): Kirstie
I think there are a lot of folks out there who don’t think Kendra is unlikeable at all (this gal is one). I think she’s rough around the edges, and flawed, but a real person who tries very hard.
Not surprised Petra was voted out. It was going to be her or Kendra anyways. If I had to guess Kendra is next to go followed by Chris than Romeo. Leaving Kirstie, Ralph, Chelsea, and Hines to battle it out.
Was that bit with Chelsey’s bra coming off necessary? I just hope she doesn’t get implants or feel like she’s not great looking already.
I feel like a deflated balloon. Don’t know quite how else to describe it. I didn’t want Petra to go yet.
I loved Toby Keith’s performances. Maks and Lacey with the troupe was fun, even with Lacey’s mistakes. Maks recovered well on the first, and I realized the second off camera one, even before Tom commented on her “graceful” dismount, because I saw Toby laughing. And Jonathan and Anna…. beautiful, beautiful, beautiful….. Beautiful dance from beautiful dance couple to a beautiful song, becoming such a GORGEOUS tribute to our Troops!
As I was watching Mike’s package of the oops, I couldn’t help but think…. I’d love to have them let both Mike AND Adam loose for a package…. Imagine the hilarity that could ensue….
I did think, with the exception of the dismissal and goodbye of Petra, that this week’s results show was better than the performance show.
And HOW ON EARTH! are both the producers of AI and DWTS allowing the quick booking of an ousted AI contestant onto DWTS if said Ousted AI Contestant isn’t dating one of the Pros? Who just so happens will be dancing (with Karina) while she sings? I thought they frowned heavily on cross-network promotions?
@Greg – What makes YOU so sure she IS going to be around “for awhile”? Kendra sticking around for awhile is not a fact – that’s your opinion. And telling us to “face the fact” is good way to get a lot of animosity thrown your way. Maybe rethink the way you word your comments…
I definitely see where the Bristol comparison is coming in with Kendra – but there is one difference that really sticks out to me: at least Bristol waited until the last few weeks of the competition to get verbal diarrhea and get really unlikeable. Kendra’s been crass since day 1, and now she’s also whiney. Such a far cry from the easygoing, fun gal on her reality show.
As for what it’s going to take for Kendra to go home – I don’t necessarily think she has “hoards” of people voting for her, but she might have a small contingent of very passionate voters. Remember, to stick around last night, she only needed to get one more vote than Petra or Ralph – she didn’t need a landslide to stay. And she actually had a bit of an edge in being a low-scorer – it generally seems to rally fans to vote harder. I think the only situation that could guarantee Kendra going home is her falling into last place along with one of the favorites (Ralph, Kirstie, or Hines), and having the rest of the contestants enough of a points spread away that she couldn’t catch up with any of them. I doubt she could come up with the votes in order to surpass Kirstie, Ralph, or Hines in order to stay.
Courtney beat me to it.
Remember, Kendra only needed ONE more vote than Petra to stay. That doesn’t necessarily put her in a high vote getter category. But then I don’t think Bristol really was either. Fact is when you put a relative unknown (Petra or audrina) against someone with even a tiny fanbase, give them the same score, the unknown will, most of the time, go home. It’s simple math. The differenc with audrina is that no one was voting for her. She got beat out by about 5 other dancers, not just Bristol.
I’m writing from the airport so I keep getting interrupted – what I was also going to say was, it’s also not that Kendra was getting a ton more votes, but whether people were voting for petra. what if Kendra and Petra were both not getting a lot of votes? Kendra still only needs one more than Petra. Maybe Kendra is getting a lot of votes – but as it stands right now there is no evidence of that.
Mark seems to manage this sort of deal a lot doesnt he? Last season it was Jeannine from sytycd. Great promo for both mark and Pia. Almost makes one wonder if that was the plan all along.
Mark is very, very good at promoting himself and using others to promote himself. But it is all good for him as it gets him and his projects attention and it will get Pia and her projects attention. It’ll be fun to see how long the hook up lasts after Pia’s appearance – since Jeanine and Mark were never heard of again as a “couple” after their dance last season.
I honestly think that Pia DID want to meet Mark at first, hence the note passing with James Durbin and Chris Jericho (two really cute new BFFs). But I also think that possibly Fox is feeling very guilty (and God knows why, I thought her elimination was quite predictable) about her being voted off American Idol so soon, and is loosening up the ‘rules’ and allowing her to um… cross-pollinate with DWTS.
And for what it’s worth, Mark is 25 years old – the same age as my son – and I totally think he should be out there dating all kinds of different girls, whether it’s to mutually benefit each other’s careers or just for fun. Hollywood is their workplace and, for instance, I dated a bunch of guys from my workplace over the years and I’m fairly sure a lot of folks here did/do too.
I don’t have a problem with mark dating dozens of girls. I sure as hell wish Derek would, instead of the scenario he’s in now. But I don’t know if I believe the setup that keeps happening: mark meets cute talented girl, they both get heavily featured/promoted on dwts, and then are never seen together again. Win/win/win…great career move, but dating? Not so much. Maybe this sort of thing is why relationships don’t work in hollywood.
I’m not sure if this has been brought up elsewhere (I really wish this site had a forum, grrrr) but are they just not doing Tango or Argentine Tango this season? They’re in that “unlearned dance” phase right now and not one person has performed a Tango yet. They’ve never skipped it before, right? I wonder what’s up with that.
I also kinda miss the Mambo, too.
Also, just found this: http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/04/20/dancing-with-the-stars-eliminated-contestant-2/
Up next on Dancing with the Stars is Guilty Pleasure Week, where the remaining seven contestants will be dancing to well-known, but somewhat embarrassing-to-like songs.
Though the dancers and celebs are ordered not to reveal their musical numbers, Kirstie Alley’s Bad Boy of Ballroom and self-proclaimed “Sex on a Stick” Maksim Chmerkovskiy ignored the rule, saying, “What, are we going to get fired?” before revealing that the two would be dancing to Britney Spears’ “…Baby One More Time.” But don’t expect to see Alley in a schoolgirl outfit.
“No,” said the 60-year-old actress. “We’re gonna do it sort of straight.”
Do you think the pros are as fed up with all this theme stuff as we are? *LOL*
Whooops, spoke too soon. Even though Wiki says that Chris and Cheryl are doing the Foxtrot, I just watched their “On The Red Carpet” video from last night and Cheryl says they’re doing the Tango next week.
http://www.ontheredcarpet.com/video?id=8083401
@Evaine I haven’t watched all of the “On The Red Carpet” videos from last night but from what I’ve seen so far Cheryl and Kym both say that they love the theme nights because it makes it more fun and keeps the pros on their toes.
@ck410 – I see that Chris & Cheryl are tangoing next week, so I guess that means the standard tango is still part of the lineup. I would be seriously shocked if the Argentine tango got axed – it seems like the one non-standard ballroom dance that has actually faired well on the show, and seems extremely popular with viewers. I’m just wondering when they’re going to bring it into play – we’ve seen at least one of all the regular dances so far, so it seems like they’re maybe waiting for everyone to do it the same week? Or could it be the team dance this year? I think they’d have a hard time making it the marathon dance, since it relies so heavily on pre-determined choreography. And I miss the mambo too
It seems like it was a casualty of “house cleaning” of season 10, when they pared everything down. I think it was unique enough from the other dances that it wouldn’t be overkill if they made it part of the lineup again…now the jitterbug, Lindy hop, hustle, salsa, & west coast swing? Those I would have no problem with never seeing again on the show
As for Kirstie & Maks getting “Baby One More Time” – what dance are they supposed to be doing next week? The dubious Wikipedia says jive, and I don’t think there’s any way in HELL they can tweak the tempo of that song for a jive. Seems like it MIGHT be a slow samba, or a very, very loose paso doble. Or maybe Kirstie & Maks are being their usual goofy selves and pulling one over on us
Kirstie and Maks said in an after-show interview that they were doing a samba and it wasn’t going to be going with the theme, that they were going to do a straight-up traditional samba – Brazilian. Which made Kirstie giggle.
@Courtney I know I’ve mentioned this before but I’m still annoyed that they axed the mid-season Group Dance number that everyone does just for audience votes and not judges’ scores. It was the one dance (besides maybe the ones where everyone comes back for the finale and dances again) where they could all just let loose and have fun and dance alongside each other. I hate that they don’t do it anymore.
So far what I’ve gathered from the OTRC videos is that the celebs got to pick their songs (except Kendra?) and these are the dances:
Kirstie – Samba
Hines – V. Waltz
Romeo – ?? (he didn’t say, just that he’s a hopeless romantic and Chelsie said he likes chick music)
Chris – Tango
Kendra – Samba (it was Jive but they hated their song so they got it changed)
Chelsea – Quickstep
Ralph – Paso
I just hope the songs that are chosen go with the dance styles next week. I am NOT knowledgeable about dancing, but even I had a hard time watching a couple of dances that (IMO) really didn’t fit the music last Monday…
Should we just hand Mark and Chelsea the mirror ball? I think that Mark could be raking in votes from Pia’s AI fans after Tuesday. Someone close to either Pia or Mark has been feeding TMZ info, including their first date where their first date was going to be. Only TMZ was there to capture that first date.
*LOL* Pia’s fans didn’t vote for HER on American Idol, why the heck should they vote for an assumed romantic interest on another show?
While I don’t think Mark and Chelsea have any better chance of winning because of this pimping, I do find it interesting that Derek can run all over Hollywood with no one seeing him yet TMZ “coincidentally” finds Mark and Pia after their supposed first date – in a parking garage. Yeeeaahhh.
And the pimpage continues – Mark and Corky in the audience at AI watching Pia and the other evictees sing the opening song. :::rolls eyes:::
As far as comparisons between Kendra and Bristol, atleast Bristol had some half way decent technique. She had the performance skills of a rock, but she could do most of the steps. Kendra’s got nothing! I’ve watched this show long enough to know it’s never about who’s the best dancer, but who’s popular. My question, asked by others based on the comments above, is who the hell likes Kendra? What is there to like? She’s goofy, petulant and she can’t dance. And if you can piss Louis off, that’s saying something. It’s not quite as bad as Kate Gosselin pissing of Tony, but close.
ck410 said: So far what I’ve gathered from the OTRC videos is that the celebs got to pick their songs (except Kendra?) and these are the dances:

So yeah, something doesn’t scan here. If the other celebs are saying they got to pick their song, how is it that Kendra is saying they changed their dance from Jive to Samba because they hated their song?
Everyone needs to start reading the weekly official DWTS spin memos and staying “on message”.
@gorillatom – keep in mind that with the exception of the Yankee Doodle atrocity, Kendra’s choreography has been way more difficult than Bristol’s. Bristol had fairly simple routines, which is why she was able to be more precise – there were few turns or complex steps. Louis is famous for choreographing difficult routines, and Kendra is no exception – which is one of the reasons she struggles with it.
