To be honest, next week I hope they go back to an eclectic array of music. I like how DWTS regularly introduces me to new music. This week and last has been terrible in that regard. Here’s to next week!!

SONG and performance of the night goes to My Heart Will Go On imo!
Like you John, I’m ready for more eclectic songs again now. I want to hear and see songs that go with the type of dances.
The song choces were good in my opinion except for two of them. “Don’t Stop Believing” for a tango? I didn’t think the song fit too well. The other song was Ralph’s song. I heard the song and was like Karina had quite a challnege. Thats ore suited for a freestyle or a group dance (if they ever bring those back lol) not a paso. I was expecting “We are the champions” to be used for Ralph or even Def Leppard “Pour Some Sugar On Me”. I thought they would have had Pia Toscano sing the Celine song though. Makes me even more curious to what she is singing tonight now. If its the version of “All By Myself” or “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” I would be happy though.
@vin – From what I’ve heard, Pia will be singing “I’ll Stand By You”, which is widely regarded as her best performance while she was on Idol.
I thought last week’s music was horrible but this week’s music was even more awful. It is not a pleasure to sit through horrendous music. At least when the music is eclectic, I may not like one piece but I may love the next. So I can sit through the bad music on the off chance it’ll improve. But this theme night junk means the music is bad for the entire evening! Plus I greatly prefer when the music enhances the dances rather than detracting. Much more of the grating noise that the DWTS producers are calling music and I may have to watch the show on mute or simply quit watching.
I like the idea of guilty pleasures but I think they should check to make sure the songs are indeed pleasurable and compatible to the respective celebs.
While Kirstie said she enjoys Baby, one more time I have a youthful performance in mind when I hear that song. Something really high energy, which Kirstie, as good as she is, just isn’t able to deliver.
I had a feeling that while Walking on sunshine was compatible with Chelsea it wasn’t really pleasurable for her. Again, the song comes with predetermined expectations and I thought I was gonna see a lot more groovy, blues brothers-ly exaggerated moves from her.
Chris had an off night but I dunno if it was due to the song or not. It was a difficult song to Tango to and Cheryl failed to capture it’s spirit with bland choreography. So I guess she didn’t connect to it.
The rest I felt were well matched.
