DWTS Stats Class – Week 7

“Ballroom Greats” Theme Night…? Er?

See Guilty Pleasure Night I totally agreed with, that was nice. Hell I wouldn’t mind a “One Hit Wonders” Night to bring back some good old fashioned memories, but puhlease!

ANYWAY! To the predictions

Ralph and Karina – Quickstep
– Age [40s]: 22.412
– Occupation [Actor]: 24.333
– Pro Partner: 21.143
Averaged Predicted Score: 22
Thoughts: Ok, I’m a little excited about this dance, mainly because I loved his Foxtrot in the opening week and the magic that came with it and I REALLY want to see that spark again. They captured the spark last week had it not been for the mishap, I’m hoping that the sparkle stays this week.

Kirstie and Maks – Jive
– Age [60s]: 21
– Occupation [Actress]: 21
– Pro Partner: 23.6
Averaged Predicted Score: 21
Thoughts: Umm, help? I don’t know if this is a very good choice for Kirstie considering how winded she has been after dancing. I’m worried, very very worried, but if anything she’s had time to build up some stamina along the way, so here’s hoping.

Romeo and Chelsie – Samba
– Age [20s]: 26.615
– Occupation [Singer]: 25.222
– Pro Partner: 22
Averaged Predicted Score: 24
Thoughts: Romeo is continuing his uphill climb on the leaderboard tying for first last week. Is he peaking too early or just right? Only time will tell.

Hines and Kym – Tango
– Age [30s]: 25.283
– Occupation [NFL]: 23.5
– Pro Partner: 24.8
Averaged Predicted Score: 24
Thoughts: Hines is probably one of the few celebrities that is pretty strong in both ballroom and latin dances. He’s that fantastic balance. I expect him to do decently well in the Tango, just how well? I don’t know

Chelsea and Mark – Paso Doble
– Age [20s]: 26.8
– Occupation [Disney]: 26
– Pro Partner: 28.6
Averaged Predicted Score: 27
Thoughts: Ok, I’ll admit it, she is grudgingly rubbing off on me and I don’t like it. But the numbers show that she is slowly climbing up the leaderboard as well. Still I prefer Romeo/Chelsie pairing over the Chelsea/Mark pairing. But considering this is a Quickstep I expect her scores to go sky high.

Kendra and Louis – Tango
– Age [20s]: 25.25
– Occupation [Reality TV]: 20.5
– Pro Partner: 24.25
Averaged Predicted Score: 23
Thoughts: I’m going to repeat what I said last week: Why the frack is she still around? Can’t we cut her out please? Like now? I’ve got nothing to say about her, she’s not improving in my opinion, and her comments come off as odd for me. So yeah, gone… like now… like last week. Now aside from all that, I’ll grudgingly admit, she seemed to have fun with her Samba last week, granted that table dance was a bit over the top, and she seemed far too comfortable up there, regardless, unless she gets over her phobia over the more elegant dances, I really don’t want to watch her.

May 1, 2011 I Written By

My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)

DWTS Season 12, Week 7 – Who’s Dancing What…When?

Ah, time for the Team Dancings once again. 🙂 I usually like the team dances…we’ll see if this season holds up for me.

Also, once again, we have a random assemblage of dances which I assume is due to the stupid-ass theme weeks they keep foisting on us. This week it’s “Ballroom Greats” or some such thing. Hey, here’s an idea!! How about we have a week (or several) where you give the couples actual songs that go with the actual dances – and then everyone dances. Preferably one of two dances on a given night. How’s that for a “theme”?? :::rolls eyes::: We should be so lucky. I think once they start down the road to stupid, it’s hard to do a U Turn.

Anyway…who’s dancing what?? Oh, and I’d like to thank Louis Van Amstel for his big mouth and sharing “Team Ham” with us. 🙂

Ralph and Karina – Quickstep
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.08

Kenda and Louis – Tango
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.07

Chelsea and Mark – Paso Doble
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.01

Kirstie and Maks – Jive
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.11

Kirstie and Maks had fun up on stage at the Prince concert last night:

Romeo and Chelsie – Samba
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.05

Chelsie with her family after rehearsal yesterday:

Hines and Kym – Tango
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.03

For some reason, Louis called his Cha Cha team Team HAM. Why this makes sense, since the team consists of Hines/Kym, Kendra/Louis and Kirstie/Maks, I don’t know. Someone want to clue me in? 🙂

That leaves the other team consisting of Ralph/Karina, Chelsea/Mark and Romeo/Chelsie. Well. I dunno, based on choreography, I have to go with Team Ham – and I’d be okay with that, if we could switch Ralph with Kendra. 🙂 Based on past team performances, I just think that Maks, Kym and Louis have the edge, even if they don’t have the “best” partners, other than Hines. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how the judges are feeling this week and if they’re smoking high grade stuff or not. 🙂

As for the individual dances? I think Romeo and Hines are probably in good shape. Chelsea and Ralph probably are also, although more Ralph than Chelsea. I have a hard time seeing smiley Chelsea in the the passionate Paso. Kirstie and Kendra? Oh dear. For different reasons. I know it’s very hard to remember that Kirstie Alley is 60 years old, but 60 she is – and the Jive is hard. Kirstie is way older than me and I don’t know if *I* could do the Jive for 90 seconds. I’m hoping that several weeks of dancing has increased her stamina. As for Kendra – well, she’s a wild card at this point, but I think it’s safe to say that she better pull it off or she could be in trouble. But a Tango? Man…can’t see this one either.

There weren’t many (any?) pictures of the couples competing this week, so I’m doing a little update on those no longer on the show…for one reason or another. 🙂 Derek had fun at the UFC Fights in Toronto with some of his gang from Cobu 3D, including Allison Holker from SYTYCD and Napoleon of Napoleon and Tabitha who are two of the apparently several choreographers on the movie.

And I couldn’t resist this picture of Julianne and her babies in Miami for filming “Rock of Ages”:

Anna and Jonathan at the Race to Erase MS event the other night. Anna commented that they looked like they were at prom. 🙂

WOW – she looks AMAZING.

And you all recognize this lovely lady – Edyta Slwinska with the Willmington Baseball team’s Mascot; Edyta threw out the first pitch, apparently.

Guess which dancing family this little one belongs to. It’s all in the eyes… 🙂

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

Dancing With The Stars Week 7 – Las Vegas Odds Before The Show

It’s that time again to see how our couples stack up for the Las Vegas odds. What a crazy, unpredictable year. It seems the odds makers can never call it right. They had Chris, who was picked to go, tied with Romeo last week in 4th place. I hope they are wrong again because I don’t like Kirstie’s position which was next to the last before this week. But, that’s ok because Girl keeps defying the odds and everyone else. 😀 So, here’s to the new Las Vegas odds (which are placed in order from first to last). Let’s take a sip of wine (and pray it’s Kendra’s week to go this week. 💡 ), relax, and enjoy the showdown. 🙂

1. Hines Ward 5/4
2. Chelsea Kane 11/4
3. Lil’ Romeo 5/1
4. Ralph Macchio 15/2
5. Kirstie Alley 8/1
6. Kendra Wilkinson 18/1
