Pure DWTS Season 12 – Maksim Chmerkovskiy And Kirstie Alley Having Fun And That’s All The Matters (Videos of Interviews)

OMGGGG! LOOK AT KIRSTIE ON THE ELLEN SHOW! *raves* Is she not slimming down more and more by the DAY??!!! Seriously!!! Like Ellen said, Kirstie looks happy and she is having “fun” too. They also get serious about when Kirstie’s heart was broken. They get funny about having sex 2 hours a day (LOL) and more. See Maks too. They are so addictive as always and Ellen gives them a present too that you have to see. Great interview!!

Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerkovskiy on Ellen… by Codebear2

Also, see Maks interviewed on KTLA as well. He talks about his experience on 9-11 (everytime I hear him talk on this, I am silenced. I just can’t imagine it. He clearly loves this Country.). He also talks of Kirstie and Dancing With The Stars. He critiques their dance from this week. It’s so cute because he loves that Kirstie is having so much even if she missed the steps.

Dancing With The Stars 12 – Kym Johnson On The Competiton Going Into Overdrive And More

Kym has penned a new Blog at OK! Magazine. She writes about her and Hines’ first “10” of the Season and how excited they were to receive it being the dance was extra hard for Hines to learn. Lucca helped them from a “man’s perspective”. She also talks about the team dance and a little about what’s coming. Be sure to see the link as she posted some fun pictures backstage. Have I said how much I love these two? Both class acts and he is so full of charm.

Hines was so over the moon last night, he was so excited to get that 10. It was a really difficult dance for him, so he worked extra hard on it. It was really nice to have it pay off getting a 10, because it was a very challenging dance.

It was great having Lucca with us this week in practice. I used to learn off Lucca when I was in London, he’s an old friend, so it was really nice to have him come in and show Hines from a man’s perspective, because he’s normally used to just me being in the room. I don’t Hines has ever danced with a man before, so that was definitely a new experience for him!

The team dance was really fun, it was nice wokring with the other cleebrities and dancers instead of just Hines and I by ourselves. That was a lot of fun, I think our team did really well. We definitely had a really good time. It made us bond more with everyone. However that was the one and only team dance, now it’s just us from here on out. It was fun having the team one but it was a lot of work — we had to make sure we had the formations right, so it was a little bit more stressful.

We’ve got two dances every week from now on, so the competition has kicked into overdrive. It’s exciting! Now it’s just Hines and I so we can focus on our own dances. It should be good. The pressure is really on now, especially for the pros because we have to choreograph two dances and also come up with designs for the costumes. It does become a lot of work — if we get through, we can say goodbye to any sort of regular life for the next couple of weeks! We’ll be practicing day and night — like 10 hours per day, like five then have a break and go back. It’s pretty much eat, sleep, dance — that’s all we do!

Hines was also interviewed by the LA Times. He dishes on this past week as well and what a big help Lucca was to him. Here is a take below. Read more at the link.

Q: Your first 10 of the season. That must have been a big confidence boost. How did having Luca Baricchi come in this week help? It seemed he was really beneficial to all the guys he worked with.
He was very helpful. I mean to have the advice of someone of his caliber from the dance world is like having a Jerry Rice or a Lynn Swann giving me advice about my play on the football field. Plus it was nice to hear the advice of another male dancer on how I could improve and be the best partner I can be for Kym. He was great.

Q: On Mondays, would you rather dance first and get it over with (and take the chance the audience at home will forget about you) or dance last after watching everyone else (and have your dance fresh in the audence’s minds at home).
I kind of like being in the middle so I can see how the judges are feeling and then see what I am up against from the other celebs. Plus I listen to what the judges are saying to the others and take the advice to heart for myself in my dance.

DWTS Week 7 – The Celebrity Contestants Put Their Own Spin On Their Costumes This Week

The costume designer for Dancing With The Stars, Randall Christensen, told Stylist that he let the celebrities put their own “flirty” spin on their costumes this week. Read below and at the link for what happened behind the scenes in preperation for week 7. Note how they had last minute issues with Karina’s costume and they had to rework it. Kirstie added sparkle to her leggings an hour before showtime. What a rush they must have had.

Wilkinson: “Tango is typically danced in black or red and many times lace,” Christensen notes, but he went with a completely different vibe for the reality star. “It was fun to put a spin on that classic silhouette and do a crystal-studded fuchsia bustier.” He added a red, silk satin hip treatment and tiers of red, organza ruffles for a Spanish twist. “The wow factor was hard to miss,” he says.

Alley: The inspiration for her big flirt jive look was the “Cha Cha” character from “Grease.” Her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, ordered up the sparkling leggings for his partner. “We wanted to expose those naughty leopard bra straps and we covered her shoes in leopard on Friday,” Christensen says. After her first fitting, Christensen ripped off an over-skirt to expose the layers of tulle. Then, Alley asked for more sparkle on her leggings, which was applied an hour before show time. “Of course, I couldn’t deny her THAT.”

Hines Ward and Kym Johnson: The football pro channeled James Bond in a tango hall, wearing a white dinner jacket, while his partner wore an ultra-sexy, one-shoulder lace gown with a seductive rose fastened at the skirt’s leg-baring hip slit. “The black lace over the nude mesh was the ultimate tango dress. And Hines was Bond — suave, sophisticated and masculine.”

Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff: Climbed to the top of the leader board in a kelly green roaring ’20s inspired ensemble that produced as much drama backstage as it did in the ballroom. Christensen had to rework Smirnoff’s look hours before the live show after fringe for a planned skirt was sent out for dye and came back the wrong color. “It was a moss green, yikes,” says Christensen. “Karina was a real trooper trusting us to bring the newly conceived skirt idea to reality.”

Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas: Her head-to-toe lace body stocking wasn’t exactly a typical Paso Doble look. Nor were the edgy goth details on partner Ballas’ jacket, but Christensen is game for the young Disney star’s desire for unusual costumes. “Traditional paso doble? No! Perfectly appropriate for her age, music and talent? Absolutely!”

The Dancing With The Stars Hairteam at Facebook has pics of some of the ladies costumes up close. Below is Chelsea and Karina’s costumes. The detail is amazing when you think about how fast they have to put these together. More at the link.

And below is Kym getting her make-up fine tuned before the show.

So, who had your favorite costumes this week? I was fond of Kendra’s, Kym’s, and Chelsea’s costumes the most this time.

DWTS 12 – Dancing With The Stars #1 In TV Ratings

Below are the TV Ratings for April 25th – May 1st. Check it out. Last Monday night’s show beat out American Idol for the first time this Season and topped out in first place. The Dancing With The Stars “Special” did well too placed at #6. For those thinking this show is on it’s last legs, think again! 😀  (Heidi’s note: I promise I am going to do a ratings post, but my recollection is that these numbers are standard for DWTS, it’s that AI is a tad on the low side – by 1 or 2 million. The question for our other blog is, with AI and The Voice both doing well, what will happen with The X-Factor?)

DWTS Season 12 – Hines in Handcuffs?

Well, they make this sound like SOP, but to me it sounds pretty ridiculous. Handcuffs and gunpoint?? From ET, click the link for the whole story:

“Dancing with the Stars” contestant and Pittsburgh Steelers football player Hines Ward was stopped by police early Thursday while riding as a passenger in a car that was reported stolen; he was removed with the female driver and handcuffed at gunpoint

Once it was established that the woman was the rightful owner of the vehicle, she was released with Hines and allowed to go. The police spokesperson said the two had been placed in handcuffs at gunpoint because this is operating procedure when it is assumed that a felony might have been committed.

A rep for Hines told ET: “It was a misunderstanding, the police were just doing their job. Apologies were made and Hines was very cooperative and understanding. He is fine and it’s over.”

Hines and his people are class acts – it would have been easy to make this into a huge deal. I would certainly be tempted. Kirstie makes a funny about it:
