DWTS Stats Class – Week 8

Ralph and Karina – Viennese Waltz
– Age [40s]: 21.4
– Occupation [Actor]: 27
– Pro Partner: 23.5
Averaged Predicted Score: 24
Thoughts: Ralph didn’t disappoint me last week, and I don’t expect him to disappoint this week. It’s a ballroom dance, and ballroom dances is more his strength. What I am more worried about is…

Ralph and Karina – ChaCha
– Age [40s]: 18.833
– Occupation [Actor]: 20.2
– Pro Partner: 19.625
Averaged Predicted Score: 19
Thoughts: This a fun and flirty dance and caters to those with good, strong personalities best. So as much as I’m worried about Ralph not doing as well in the Latin dances, this one I’m not as worried as long as he brings his personality onto the floor and loosens up a bit.

Kirstie and Maks – Argentine Tango
– Age [60s]: 22
– Occupation [Actress]: 24.333
– Pro Partner: 27.333
Averaged Predicted Score: 24
Thoughts: Here is a nice slower dance for Kirstie to start with. It requires a lot of passion and drama, and being an actress she should be ok with.

Kirstie and Maks – Salsa
– Age [60s]: 18.667
– Occupation [Actress]: 18.5
– Pro Partner: 16
Averaged Predicted Score: 17
Thoughts: Considering that the Salsa is a recent addition… there is only so much information that could be gleaned. However, it’s a Latin dance, and a bit fun and flirty which should help Kirstie a bit, however if it’s the second dance of the night that it could prove difficult for her stamina.

Romeo and Chelsie – Tango
– Age [20s]: 25.25
– Occupation [Singer]: 22.667
– Pro Partner: 23.5
Averaged Predicted Score: 23
Thoughts: Sometimes I feel that Romeo tries too hard to be too aggressive or too hard to be too fun loving… if that makes sense. The tango is one of those dances where he would have to be strong and masculine (a bit like the Paso Doble). Considering how well he’s been doing w/ the ballroom dances I’m not too worried.

Romeo and Chelsie – Salsa
– Age [20s]: 23
– Occupation [Singer]: 25.667
– Pro Partner: 24
Averaged Predicted Score: 24
Thoughts: As much as he’s improving on the ballroom dances, I felt that he’s become a bit stagnant with the Latin dances. After the first week’s chacha I didn’t feel like he has improved nearly as much as he did with the latin dances. Here’s hoping that I’m wrong.

Hines and Kym – Foctrot
– Age [30s]: 22.925
– Occupation [NFL]: 23.111
– Pro Partner: 23.571
Averaged Predicted Score: 23
Thoughts: Mr Personality gets to shine again. The personality that we all loved so much in the Latin dances gets to come out during the Foxtrot, and considering that he’s been strong in not only the Latin dances but the Ballroom dances as well, I’m not terribly worried about how he is going to progress.

Hines and Kym – Jive
– Age [30s]: 24.025
– Occupation [NFL]: 22.857
– Pro Partner: 26.2
Averaged Predicted Score: 24
Thoughts: There isn’t much more for me to add in regards to the Jive, just keep up the energy and the personality and he should be fine I think.

Chelsea and Mark – Waltz
– Age [20s]: 23.444
– Occupation [Disney]: 23.5
– Pro Partner: 23
Averaged Predicted Score: 23
Thoughts: I would say that with the waltz there is almost no way to make it cheesy, then I remember the Waltz w/ Bristol and how I rolled my eyes, and as thus stand corrected.

Chelsea and Mark – Salsa
– Age [20s]: 23
– Occupation [Disney]: 24
– Pro Partner: 24
Averaged Predicted Score: 23
Thoughts: Then again w/ the Salsa they could be as cheesy as they want to be, I think… I hope not though, b/c it would drive me batty.

May 8, 2011 I Written By

My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)

DWTS Season 12, Week 8 – Who’s Dancing What?

I dropped the “and what” off the title because most of the blabbermouths are off the show and even those who have talked in the past have been keeping the dance order quiet.  It’s very annoying. 🙂

Eight different dances, five couples. I’m sure to SOMEONE that makes perfect sense. :::rolls eyes::: Here’s what I’ve gleaned:

Ralph and Karina – V. Waltz and Instant Cha Cha
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.08

Chelsea and Mark – Waltz and Instant Salsa
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.01

Kirstie and Maks – Argentine Tango, Instant Salsa
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.11

Romeo and Chelsie – Tango and Instant Salsa
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.05

Hines and Kym – Foxtrot and Instant Jive
Voting Number: 1.800.VOTE4.03

Okay, this seems patently unfair to me – they have Hines and Ralph doing two completely different dances to everyone else for the instant dance. The Instant Jive??? Are you kidding me?? I will predict right now that Chelsea moves to the top of the leaderboard because the two best men are just hosed. Why not give EVERYONE Salsa?? Why? Unless you want to screw over the top 2 men. By the same token, though, I think those two men will do better with their V.Waltz and Foxtrot than Chelsea will with her Slow Waltz, but still. I find this highly annoying. No one has done Salsa yet so there is no excuse not to give that dance to everyone. Especially since everyone has a different dance in the regular round. This just feels like tinkering to me.

I am highly annoyed. But I will post these pics from last night anyway. 🙂

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS12 – Dancing With The Stars Shows Up At The Pirates Of The Caribbean Premiere (Videos)

Ships and stars collided last night in Los Angeles as some of the cast from Dancing With The Stars showed up on the Redcarpet to support the new movie, “Pirates of the Caribbean adventure: On Stranger Tides”. View some videos and pictures below.

Here’s Romeo flashing his Abs and talking to the cameras a little. He says he wants to be in the next “Pirates” movie;

Chelsie cute as a “Mermaid” in a green “fish scale” sequined number (is that her Mom with her?);

Chelsea Kane and Stephen Colletti giving good face. I think these two might be an item and not Mark like he wishes.;

Below is Cheryl and Lacey dolled up for the occasion. What do you think of Lacey’s hair and softened look?;

Last, but, not least Maks and Kirstie glamming it for the cameras and both looking HOT!

Dancing With The Stars 12, Week 8 – Las Vegas Odds Before The Show

Well, our dancing couples have almost defied the Las Vegas Odds every week. Let’s see if this upcoming week is any different? Once again, the odds makers have Hines in first place. Note how they have Romeo and Ralph tied for third which surprises me a little after the disappointing week Romeo had last week. But, what do we know? Kirstie is in last. Let’s hope she really has a show stopping, clean dance this week to put her on the map. (Heidi’s Note: Eh, they’ve pretty much copped out – Hines at nearly even money and then essentially a 3 way tie for second place?? Really, Ralph and Romeo are only a half point behind Chelsea, with Kirstie in last place, which means they are as clueless as the rest of us. 🙂 )

1. Hines Ward 4/5

2. Chelsea Kane 5/1

3. Lil’ Romeo 11/2

4. Ralph Macchio 11/2

5. Kirstie Alley 15/2

So, who do you think or hope is the couple to leave this week? I hope it’s Chelsea and Mark. If not them, Romeo and Chelsie. Just please don’t let it be Kirstie and Maks! (Heidi’s Note: This week it’s all about the scores. Will they overscore Chelsea and underscore Kirstie in an attempt to get the Final Four they want? Unfortunately, that will likely only hurt Romeo.)
