DWTS12 Week 8 Search Engine Round-up
Well it looks like last week’s edition was pretty popular, and got some of your questions answered (as well as some of ours :-)).ย Hopefully this week’s edition will be equally as amusing and informative…
…it looks like a lot of the top search terms this week were either pretty mundane (“pure dwts”, “pure dwts music list”, “cheesecake awards”, “who wore it better”, etc.), or were ones we had already addressed in last week’s edition (No, Hines is not married; and I am not going to further gratify any inquiries about “mark ballas girlfriend”).ย So this week, I picked out some of the more unique ones – they may not have gotten a huge number of hits, but the very fact that even ONE person was searching for some of these and somehow ended up here is amusing to me ๐
Kym Johnson height
She’s between 5’6″ & 5’7″, depending on what Kym Johnson fan page you consult.ย Definitely one of the taller female pros – I pretty sure she’s the tallest current female pro, and the 2nd tallest female pro ever to do the show (she’s tied with Edyta, who is also 5’6″-5’7″; Anna Demidova is a willowy 5’10”!). Personally, I’d rather know the cup size of her Awesome Boobage(TM) or what bra she wears to get them to look so awesome, but that’s just me. ๐
Maksim Chmerkovskiy salary
The answer: substantial ๐ The salaries of the pros on DWTS areย a pretty well-kept secret that we only really hear speculation aboutย – I’ve heard everything from $6K per week that they remain in the competition, to $5200 per episode, to a few hundred bucks extra for pro dances.ย Who knows what the real amount is, without consulting the IRS. However, we did do some speculating of our own after Maks appeared on Million Dollar Listing on Bravo…and we decided that he’d make one pretty damn good sugar daddy ๐
John’s Comment: Related to this is how much the stars make. Here’s the info on what Shawn Johnson made on DWTS. Pros likely don’t make as much as the stars, but it’s another point of reference.
ย Shirley Ballas boobs
LOL!!! Glad I’m not the only one that admires them so much ๐ I couldn’t figure out why these searches were directing here…until I googled it myself and realized that we were the #1 link, thanks to a comment I made about Shirley’s greatย cleavage in the comments section of one of last week’s posts.ย However, I’m a bit saddened that no one else on the net is discussing them…maybe everyone else is just more entranced by Kym’s Awesome Boobage(TM) ๐
Do Kirstie & Maks get along?
Quite well, I think.ย I can’t speak for everyone, but I daresay I haven’t seen Maks this happy & having this much fun since Mel B! They seemed to have a minor stumble in rehearsal this week, but they managed to pull it together and give two great performances nonetheless.ย No love lost between them ๐ Check out their appearance on Ellen last week – these two are just too charming together.ย Kirstie may not be the best dancer this season, but she’s certainly one of the most entertaining…on and off the stage ๐
Chelsie Hightower Mormon
Erm…yeah, she is one.ย That’s about all I know, I’m afraid…John, care to interject anything? You’re the expert opinion on these two topics in question: blondes and Mormons ๐
John’s Comment: Definitely mormon. Although, so are Lacey, Derek, Julianne and Ashly (to name the regular pros). I want to say that Chelsie’s brother was going on a mormon mission, but my memory could be off on this. Ashly even just tweeted about enjoying church on Sunday. Plus, her child’s name is Ammon which is a famous mormon name that comes from the Book of Mormon. Needless to say, ballroom dancing is very big in Utah and within the mormon community in general. The World Ballroom competitions are often held at Brigham Young University in their basketball arena so it can fit all the people. Imagine 8,000-10,000 ballroom fans enjoying the World Ballroom competitions. It’s a great experience. Although, I’ll admit that when they started the wave it might not have fit “ballroom” very well, but fun nonetheless.
Lacey Schwimmer white jive costume
Hahaha…someone is really in search of the crotch doily costume? I’m hoping it’s for laughs, and not with the intent of purchasing it ๐ Anywho…here’s a link to the edition of Who Wore it Better in which it appears, and also the Cheesecake awards where Heidi & I marveled at its tackiness.ย Just say no to crotch doilies, kids.
Derek Hough barefoot pics
Crazy kids & your foot fetishes!ย ๐ I mean, I wouldn’t bat an eye at “Derek Hough shirtless” or “Derek Hough chest”, “Derek Hough abs”, or even “Derek Hough hair” searches…but feet? *shrugs* I guess it takes all kinds to make the world go ’round…so anyway, here ya go.ย Heidi even balked at this request…she wasn’t sure SHE even had one. Nowย THAT’S saying something! But you guys asked, and she delivered – but maybe in the future, try PureDerekHough for pictures ofย various parts of Derek’s anatomy ๐
Hahaha! I love it! Thanks, Court!
And speaking to the barefoot search… don’t y’all know that guys, barefoot, in jeans is mighty hot? *g*
LOLLL Courtney! I love this!!!!!! Keep these posts coming! I love how someone was wanting to know on Shirley’s boobs! LOLLLLL
Lol…SOME guys barefoot in jeans are hot ๐ I’ve seen some pretty gnarly man feet…some that make you wonder if these guys are part Hobbitt or something! Thank goodness Derek’s are nice ๐
It’s funny how inquiries about people’s love lives, salaries, and body parts crop up in the search engine terms ๐
I’m glad I almost always go barefoot;-)
I hope you don’t mind Courtney. I added a few comments to the post. I am an expert on Blonde Mormon’s after all. I married one ๐
LOL John! Loves what you added!! I am so much more informed because of all of you.
To answer the question about Kym’s height, she is 5’7″. She mentioned this herself in at least a few interviews. So there you go. ๐
So funny Courtney – great new feature.
It’s really weird that you mentioned the whole Mel and Maks thing. I went back and watched some of their old dances on youtube this week. They were great together – looks like Maks really responds well to strong women! It’s definitely the happiest I’ve seen Maks since then.
Thanks for info about Mormons John? Is there a reason why ballroom dancing is so popular with Mormons? Seems a bit of a strange combination, but then I know very little about Mormons!
@John – Don’t mind a bit! Wouldn’t have asked for your input if I wasn’t curious ๐ I have to admit, I don’t know a TON about the Mormon faith, but I’ve always been curious. Hope you don’t mind if I pick your brain for a moment, John, but I have one burning question that I’m wondering if you can put to rest for me: at some point were LDS followers discouraged from dancing? It’s probably just a myth now, but I remember an LDS friend from high school that said that dancing was “frowned upon” in her community. If so, I just find it pleasantly ironic that some of the best ballroom dancers are Mormon! Haha.
@Liz – I knew you’d know the answer ๐
I must say, I’m kinda impressed that the Derek pic has gotten the most clicks of any link on the blog today! Lol…apparently people are quite curious about his bare feet ๐
LOL at the search for ‘Derek Hough Barefoot’! I don’t think I’ve seen that picture before, so thanks Heidi! There are actually more pics of Derek barefoot from his holiday to South Africa last January… barefoot and barechested, playing volleyball and wakeboarding! =)
Evaine…faded, LOW SLUNG jeans, no shirt, no shoes. And there you have it. ๐ The perfect male attire.
I know lots of people who are curious about ANY Part of Derek being bare – they’ll take what they can get. ๐
@courtney I remember Adam Carolla telling Donny on dwts about the MBT going to Utah where dancing is illegal or something like that.
Interestingly, on PureDerekHough, the number one search term for a VERY long time was Derek Hough Shirtless – and I’m talking triple digits. So, I’m always on the hunt for half naked Derek. Keeps the natives calm and happy. ๐
Evaine…faded, LOW SLUNG jeans, no shirt, no shoes. And there you have it. ๐ The perfect male attire.
I’m kinda partial to that, Heidi. ๐
*heads back to look at pics of Maks washing his car*
I’ll give these questions a whirl.
Court asked, “At some point were LDS followers discouraged from dancing?”
They’ve never discouraged dancing. In fact, there’s stories of the pioneers crossing the planes in handcarts. After walking all day barefoot, they’d have a band start playing and they’d dance as a great morale boost as they made the long walk to Utah.
Now the confusion might be coming from the LDS church’s encouragement of young men and women to avoid close dancing and other inappropriate dancing. However, most mormon churches around the country hold regular youth dances (we have one in Las Vegas tomorrow night). Needless to say it’s a much tamer dance than you’ve probably seen. The joke is that you have to have a bible distance between you when you dance.
“Thanks for info about Mormons John? Is there a reason why ballroom dancing is so popular with Mormons? Seems a bit of a strange combination, but then I know very little about Mormons!”
I’m sure there’s a lot of reasons why it’s more popular there than other places. I actually think the above answer to Heidi’s question is one reason why ballroom dance is so popular among mormons. Ballroom is generally very appropriate and conservative. Sure, you’re close when you dance, but it’s in a very appropriate manner (although like most things it can be taken too far as well).
Plus, another possible reason is that BYU’s ballroom dance classes are HUGE!! I bet they have a couple hundred full ballroom dance classes every semester at BYU. While many enjoy dancing, it’s also a way to meet girls. My dad took those same classes at BYU over 40 years. That’s a lot of exposure to ballroom dancing.
I’m sure there are other reasons, but that’s a few of them.
As a side note, you can learn more about the Mormon faith at: http://mormon.org/ or feel free to ask.
Fascinating!!!!!
I very much doubt Derek considers himself Morman. He’s never said he is and he certainly doesn’t practice. At this point, I get the feeling the same is true for Julianne and Lacey.
I get the sense that Derek is rather spiritual, but not necessarily a Mormon. This is based mainly on what he’s been tweeting lately. When he was dating Shannon, she said he definitely wasn’t. Since he was living with her for a year, that would also indicate a “no” for me as well. ๐
[…] Let’s see what kind of light I can shed here…oh, and just in case you missed it the past 2 weeks: Hines is STILL not […]
Sorry, I forgot to come back to this thread. I wouldn’t be surprised if Derek, Julianne or Lacey said they weren’t mormon. They’re definitely not practicing mormons. I just defined them as mormon above because they were all baptized mormon and are still on the records of the church. At least I believe it’s unlikely that any of them have asked to have their names taken off or been taken off for some other reason.
Of course, it’s neither here nor there since the above is really more about definitions and labels than anything else.
