DWTS 12 Finals – Hines Ward: “I don’t think Dancing With The Stars is ever going to see a routine like this” (Video)
In a new interview with ET On-Line, Kym Johnson says she’s feeling much better from her neck injury last week. She didn’t even wear her neck brace for rehearsals (on the day of this interview). Kym says they are planning some special lifts and tricks that will be just as effective as the one which hurt her neck for their Freestyle. On the Freestyle, Hines comments that he doesn’t think Dancing With The Stars is ever going to see a routine like this. More below. Watch them dance too. They look great.

All three, Hines, Chelsea and Kirstie were on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this morning. It ended up that Chelsea and Hines were on at the same time, probably because that’s when they happened to call, and Kirstie was on shortly after. But, those interviews are up at the kiis fm website (ryan.kiisfm.com) And it turns out that Ryan had an interesting connection to Hines… (they both grew up in Atlanta suburbs at around the same time, but that’s not it)

Hee! I like that she’s all “I don’t need to wear my neck brace!” and he’s like “You’re so putting that back on.” Even putting aside all my hearts-n-flowers-n-diamonds feelings about this couple, Kym really ought to listen – if anybody knows from head and neck injuries, it would be a football player!
@Little Red, lol yeah I noticed that too and you’re right, a football player would know. I’m sure Kym knew too but I think she’s trying to be tough. Not that she isn’t! I think she and a lot of other pros are tough but you have to listen to your body. I’m amazed with Kym.. in season 3, she hyperextended her knee but came back on dancing their quickstep with no problem. Now this and she came back only 3 days after the injury happened and they got perfect scores so I guess it was okay to do that.
LOL did anyone see Kym’s eyes widen when the interviewer asked them what they needed to do to beat out Chelsea and Kirstie? Too cute.
Oh, I know she’s a tough cookie, and he’s probably mother-henning her because she freaked him out so much. Their cuteness kills me. KILLS MEEEEE.
(Also: I’m seriously disappointed in myself for noticing that he’s not wearing his blingtacular earrings in this. I don’t apply even a third of this much focus to my actual life.)
They seem excited about their freestyle and so am I. I cant wait. Hines says it displays all the dance routines so far, and DWTS never seen a dance routine like this before. Heres hoping its blows the lid off the dance floor. I hope the judges love it. These two are tooo cute together…geez.

I do apply that much focus in real life – which may explain my desire to do shots during dwts.

I’ve been putting some serious thought for the last eight minutes or so into what my drinking game will be for the evening, and I think I’m going with:
- Drink for 10s! (Bonus crankiness rule: drink twice if the 10 is undeserved!)
- Anybody says “The freestyle wins the competition!”
- The couple makes a fake-grab for the trophy during a routine.
- Anybody makes out (that’s not easy to put into a Samba routine, but I have faith that Kirstie and Maks will find a way).
- Brooke is visibly confused by a line/coin-toss/her own name/etc.
Just that in a one-hour period should be plenty to get you liver poisoning, but you can also look into some bonus categories:
Pros:
- Maks goes shirtless.
- Kym rocks the fringe.
- Mark in short pants.
Memory Lane:
- Past winner seen in the audience.
- Marie Osmond reference.
Please Please Love Us:
- Mark or Chelsea mentions Mark’s birthday.
- Kirstie talks about weight loss.
- Any mention of Hines’ mom.
The Judges:
- Carrie Ann cries.
- Len rhymes.
- Bruno makes inappropriate sexual overtures toward Maks or Chelsea (we have to limit it to those two, otherwise it’s the 24/7 Bruno Drinking Game Show).

Jesus, Little Red, I sure hope you’re not watching DWTS any place other than home with that drinking game. Just the Mark related ones alone will get you drunk. I see shorty pants and/or white socks in his very near future.
I don’t know – how many different pairs of short pants can he really wear in a one-hour show? I think I’ll get laid out by “THE FREESTYLE WINS THE COMPETITIONNNN” and Brooke accidentally locking herself in a closet or something more than Mark.
I’m going to skip the Past Winners rule because that’s too easy and apply strict “but is this skeevier than usual?” analysis to Bruno Being Skeevy, but either way, I’ll have to let you all know how I fare.
