Argentina Dancing With The Stars “Soooooooo Freak That It Is Irresistible”
Since Argentina doesn’t share the same language, it’s been hard to report on their version of Dancing With The Stars. As some of you might know, Damian Whitewood and Pamela Anderson are contestants. So far, they’ve been very popular on the show as well as Boxing champ, Mike Tyson. Not only did Damian and Pamela delight many of us with their dancing in Season 10 (they have been one of my favorite couples to ever dance on the show!), they are doing the same in Argentina…and maybe even more so? Thanks to PureDWTS reader Carlos Lustosa, below is some video footage. In Carlos’ own words, “This show is soooooooo freak that it is irresistible. ahahahahaha”.
Here they are doing the Rumba….
Damian also posted this picture of Pamela on his facebook page.
According to Carlos, the best contestant on the Argentina version of Dancing With The Stars is a dwarf named Noelia. He said “She’s simply amazing. Not Kidding.” You can see Noelia doing a Cha Cha with her partner below…
Here is more from Carlos on the show:
uh, let me just do a review about this season of Bailando… and some latin american versions of SCD/DwtS
This is the 8th season of “argentine dwts” “Bailando por un sueño” and is called just “Bailando 2011”. At first seasons, the show was like this: a star was paired with a “dreamer” (sueñador) and helped him to realize his dream (sueño), that’s why the show was called “Bailando por un sueño” (Dancing for a dream). As long as the couple keeps on competition, more money it earn.
Nowadays, the show is more like DwtS and this season has 30 couples. THIRTY. Most known people are Mike Tyson and Pamela Anderson. Don’t know if you like soccer but the paraguayan muse of 2010 world cup Larissa Riquelme was dancing ther, but left the competition last week due to a injuried knee. Ah, theres a couple of 2 guys, this season (the journalist José María Muscari and partner Emanuel González. video chacha)
As for the judges: there are 5 of them. Each week one of them gives a “secret score” wich will be revealed just on result, after the viewers votes. If you thik that CAI, Bruno and Len are inconstant with their scores, think again. The score difference between the argentinian judges is ridiculous. One can give an 10 and the other a 5, for example. (We don’t see this even on british strictly come dancing…)
Have to say that this version is extremely “lascivious”… there are some sexy-sexy-sexier dances of all DwtS-like shows, such as strip dance and pole dancing.
On former seasons, there were some rhythms that are not well known on DwtS, as merengue, lambada, a lot of salsa styles – cubana (cuban), quebradita (don’t know who to translate… something like broken-y), milonga (kind of fast tango… love this dance) -, cumbia, samba (not the latin ballroom, but the brazilian), axé (a brazilian dance from carnaval of Bahia)…
And if you think that’s all you didnt’ see the peruvian, mexican, ecuadorian versions. Guys, the peruvian version is… I can’t describe, you have to see. On this versions there are some classics like arabian dance, pole dancing, reggaeton, and some dances the do on a different weather… for example they have LAMBADA IN THE RAIN.
Video (delly and josé luis, the winners of their season)
Brazil
Here in Brazil the show is called “Dança dos Famosos” (Famous’ Dance or Stars Dance) is very boring. The production is not a propper show but a part of a sunday show, so, not that good and very far from the US version (wich is a shame) and from the latin american ones (thanks god! ahaha)… but, I like the fact we have some brazilian rhythms such as forró, samba (gafieira) (good video), lambada, and dances that are very common here like bolero, rock (soltinho), and of course, salsa, tango. If you have time, check axé in the rain, from peruvian Reyes de la Pista (Kings of dance floor): Video (Axé – pronouce almost “ashae”. Detail: 1:50)
Be sure to watch the “comment” section of this post. Carlos is planning to keep us updated!!
Carlos, thanks so much!! This is fun and so fascinating! 😉
And Dancing With The Stars producers if you are reading this, PLEASE BRING BACK DAMIAN WHITEWOOD!!!
Glad to see Pamela hasn’t toned down herself on the Argentinenan version of DWTS…personally I thought she would make the final 4 on her season of the maerican version and was robbed. She embraces her public perception of being one of the (if not THE) hottest woman alive. As for Damien: BRING HIM BACK!!! (pair him with Sherri Sheppard or even Nastia Lukin for all I car jsut bring him back!). Lastly, Noelia was AMAZING! She should definatley win that show.
Loved Pamela and Damian Season 10. They were incredible as a dancing couple. I also loved Damian and Chelsie’s pro rumba that season.
Yes, TPTB, please bring back Damian. And while you’re at it, bring back Fabian Sanchez and make a place for Peta Murgatroyd. Please and thank you.
I’d put Damian in Mark’s place and Fabian in Louis’ place and Peta in Lacey’s place. Then we could call it good. 🙂 As long as Derek is there…with his slightly darker hair and tap shoes in hand.
Yes DWTS give us more Damian please!! I would love for him to become one of the regular pros on DWTS. Pamela and Damian were fantastic. I agree Heidi, they can sh*tcan Mark and replace him with Damian, like now.
As far as Derek, I would love for him to return, but I have a feeling thats not going to happen. Okay ladies, you can stop throwing the rocks at me now, but Im preparing myself for the letdown. Maybe a return of Damian will soften the blow, if thats possible.
I couldn’t agree more with all of you about Damian!!!!!! Heidi, I LOVE your idea!
I can’t remeber if Fabie dnabced w Marlee or Taytum? If its theo ne that danced w Taytum, I don’t wanna see him on the show…..that dude had no personality.
Fabien danced*
I would give Mark a break for a season but I doubt he would go for it. As for Lacey, I say keep her around….idk why but she is captivating to me. You never know wha tshe is going to say or do and plus she spills details all the time on twitter so she can stick around.
Mark just bought a new home…has a mortgage and bills to pay. Those that are so willing to put him out of work seem to be willing to put him out on the street also. Seems selfish to me.
LOL Good you liked, girls =] I’m very happy with it.
I can translate somethings in spanish for you (but my spanish is as good as my english, so… lot of mistakes… =p – remember, I’m brazilian and we speak portuguese here… hehe)
It’s hard to find the videos of Bailando on Youtube, but there are some on Dailymotion. I’m gonna try to find and bring some more, if you wish… =]
That would be so awesome Carlos! We’d love that!!!! 😉
And Kelly, are you saying the Damian and the other dancers don’t have houses and bills to pay too? Why don’t they deserve a chance? Also, no one said they wanted Mark on the streets.
Kelly, they all have bills to pay – that’s the risk of show business. But don’t worry too hard – his family is very wealthy. He’s far better off than most of the other pros.
Besides, it’s not like we actually have a say who’s on and who isn’t. We all have our preferences.

Carlos, you are a gem!!!!! Just added everything you wrote above to the first post!! THANK YOU and totally FASCINATING!!! I love how they came up with the “dream” name! Sounds so passionate! And wow to 30 couples. I’d love to see the US version have more couples like that to give more dancers and celebrities out there a chance. I love the “secret score” idea too!!! Though that is sad the judges screw around with the system with it just like the US version. So, not sure it’s a good idea or not. UGGH
Anyway, this is TOTALLY FASCINATING! Keep us posted!!! THANK YOU!!!
hi, im argentinian and i really like bailando 2011, Pamela is a great dancer and seems to be a great person too, if you want more news about the bailando you should check the program “este es el show”(this is the show). it is a program about the bailndo and all the contestants
Yes, please bring back Damian & Fabian. LOVE the idea of Damian replacing Mark!!!
Thank Carlos – I loved this! These other competitions are so different arent they, for example, ‘Pole Dancing’ considered a classic? …LOL and the different weather dances… Lambada in the Rain… Carlos keep it coming, Im intrigued.
Glad you liked, guys… =]
Sandy, I said “classic”, because it’s so strange that it became a classic video on youtube for who watch these versions… =p
Vogue,
thank you for posting it… these shows keep me and my brazilian friends “busy” while next DwtS season doesn’t start… =] We have this “Orkut” that is a kind of internet forum where we talk about DwtS and a little bit about the other similar shows like Bailando, DwtS Autralia, SCD, etc. wished you know portuguese, there’s a guy who write about all these shows, Glauber, he’s hilarious. And all my friends helped a lot with informations about the show. =]
BTW,
Noelia dancing Adagio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2-VdRVj2z8
One of the judges says that lift her is harder than lift a person with normal height… =o
luxlp, so you can talk with more property than me, because I just watch Bailando from internet… heheh =] please
¿Ud. vive en BAires? me encanta la ciudad… estuvo solamente una vez pero me gustó de todo. Espero volver el 2012 para el Congreso Internacional de Tango Argentino =]
I think Mark should take a break, perhaps give his music a serious, full time go, but if that worked out I wonder if we’d see him back? I could also live without Lacey for a bit, but she is good with the kids, as well as Louis is great with a certain kind of “star.” (The quotes are because I think TPTB realllllly stretch that definition sometimes!)
Carlos, you and your friends sound like so much fun. I wish I could watch and chat with you all on it too. Be sure to thank them for us for helping out with your posts on this news. We appreciate it so much!!
This Noelia, bless her. I love when people don’t let disabilites be a factor with what they want to do. What if she wins? Wouldn’t that be something?!!! Keep us posted. (I never thought of how a lift could be more challenging with her until you explaining. Fascinating!)
Sure, Vogue, I’ll talk to them.
My friends read PureDwtS (some have to use the google translator, but they understand your posts overall) =]
I have to confess that when I first saw the dwarf, thought that was just to add the “shocking value” to Bailando, and I wasn’t so sure about her dance skills. But when I watched her, wow… she’s really amazing, and I’m not kidding when I say she’s the best contestant on the show. She got the first perfect score this season for her chacha (W2).
That’s different!
Strange to see Pamela and Damian competing again. Guess she hasn’t paid off her tax debt yet. Since this is a summer season maybe she agreed to do it since her boys would be out of school for the summer and she could take them with her.
Im sorry but the dancing dwarf is just funny ” pretty impressive ” but funny. 😀
Carlos…you mentioned a male-male dance couple. Is there also a female-female couple? I think I read somewhere that there were two same sex couples on the show. Also, is the show known for “controversy” between the judges and participants and behind the scenes with the contestants? What I mean, is there a lot of talking back and insults being thrown at each other?
Also, Voguerista and Princess Heidi, not sure if you’re already aware, but if you’re interested, I found a blog about the show. There are pics and videos on it….and oh my…one of the contestants paraded around in a thong-swimsuit thing that left nothing to the imagination! Another apparently threatened to leave the show. I saw a pic of the host resting his head on a contestant’s boobs! What’s going on over there?!
http://bailando1.blogspot.com/
@Cori_Iowa – I read that since doing the show Pamela has found a new love for dancing. Sure she gets paid, but Im inclined to believe that DWTS is not her only source of income. More inclined to believe that she just loves to dance.
Awesome Stephanie! Thanks to you and Carlos so much! (LOL to what the host did!!!!!)
Sandy, I think Pamela just loves to dance too!! I remember finding a new found respect for her after she did DWTS here and now she’s doing it again! She’s a true entertainer and not just a pretty face than many give her credit for!
stephanie,
the only female-female couple I know was that one who competed last year on Israel’s Dwts. (But I’m gonna search on previous seasons… but don’t think there was, or we all should know =])
yes, on Bailando there is a crazy judge who name is Graciela Alfano, and she’s a little “nuts”. The blog you posted (thank you for the blog =] ) says that she answered the host of another show called Showmatch, José Maria Listorti, who said during the week she’s scoring without taking in relevance the dream of the competitors (what, I think, personally is the right… I think she need to judge because of the dance – but this is another point… so…) This said, she gave away the her paddles from 1 to 9 (ahahahahahaha) and only gave ten to four couples. According to the blog, José Maria – who was “coincidentally” in the audience – asked her to vote for the dance, she tooke her paddles back and gave a 9 to another couple.
Found this video about it: http://www.larazon.com.ar/show/Tinelli-enfurecido-Graciela-Alfano_0_252900096.html (the host of bailando, marcelo tineli, asks her to take the judging serious, that, besides the dream, she has to vote because of the dance, other way, the competition didn’t exist, etc, etc)
Graciela – I can’t help laughing about her – twits about the competitors (and not good things at all) WHILE they are dancing. As a plus, since this season started, she posted very “elegant”/”sensual” photos of her, from a moviment she called “Twitt-art”. You can check here: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CUYxw26fllM/Tf1YFoTkv1I/AAAAAAAABAM/YL_y5Goptck/s1600/B20.jpg
Two points that I didn’t mention before:
1- Bailando 2011 is a part of a show called “Showmatch” aired mondays, tuesdays, thursdays and fridays at 10:30 p.m. (as I watch the show from internet, don’t know if Bailando is aired all the days… luxlp, can you help me here? =])
2- Noelia Pompa is a singer, from a 2009 dwarf-girl band called Las Chickis which is the all-female version from the dwarf band Los Grosos. easy to find on youtube. she sings a very popular style in Argentina that is the cumbia. (this I found searching, after you asked me to keep you updated, Vogue… I know you like her =]) btw, man, looking for images of noelia on google I found some “caliente” paparazzo photos of her doing topless on a beach… =o
that’s all for now =]
I’d like to see an argentinian talking about the show… think can do it with more property than me… =]
ah, before I forget, and serious now:
Guys, I know that nobody is judging the sex appeal on the shows I’ve shown to you – and I liked it – but I’d like to say something. (I don’t want starting a controversy or something like this, with what I’m going to say…).
A lot of the DwtS-like shows I’ve seen that are produced here in latin america are very very popular and – overall – focus on a popular tone, sometimes going to scenes that are almost obscene… so, we have to kept in mind that there are a lot of appellative shows that like to explore the “sex factor” “a little too much”…
I’m saying this because I found a lot of argentinians comments condemning Bailando and the host, Marcelo, and the judge Graciela, asking to take the show out of TV because all they do is just to create a buzz to pump the ratings and get viewers, etc… what I mean is: even in Argentina the “sex flavour” the show has is not a unanimity and hope you don’t start thinking that all the shows that are produced on Argentina/Latin America have this “steamy factor” (let’s point this way) that Bailando has, ok? =]
sorry, guys… there’s a mistake on my previous post.
Showmatch is the name of the show where is Bailando. Bailando is a part of it.
the guy who talked about Graciela is host of the show “Este es el show” (This is the Show)
Ok, sounds good Carlos! TOTALLY FASCINATING!!
LOL….one of the judges tweets during the couples dances!! That is just too F*ing hilarious! Can you imagine one of the DWTS judges doing that while a couple is dancing? Actually, Bruno is so insane w/his comments, I’d be interested to see what he tweets that he can’t say on TV ;D
Fast comment:
Guys, as I said, the rhythm for this week is “Axé”. Axé is the term that holds a lot of carnaval rhythms from Bahia (a State of Brazil) the propper axé (that is faster than the samba we have in Rio), and others like galope, samba-reggae, samba-duro, etc.
an example from the brazilian Axé icon, Ivete Sangalo:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDJPaGnjSww
so, what can I san? It’s more a solo dance than a couple dance. Sometimes it looks like “choreographed aerobics” =p This said, we have Pamela and Damian.
http://www.4shared.com/embed/680909673/fcd867a2
(sorry, this was the only link I’ve found for now)
Think she’s gorgeous than ever, but she danced a latin samba… for those who, like me wanted so badly watch she dancing a samba there it is. good stuff, anyway =]
and yes, Damian got bad comments from some judges for not making a propper axé.
Found the video on youtube!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeADmKleqMs (watch as soon as you can)
Here a beautiful photo of her:

OMG awesome. I’m going to post your new info in a new post. STAY TUNED and ((((THANK YOU))).
