Argentina Dancing With The Stars “Soooooooo Freak That It Is Irresistible”

Since Argentina doesn’t share the same language, it’s been hard to report on their version of Dancing With The Stars. As some of you might know, Damian Whitewood and Pamela Anderson are contestants. So far, they’ve been very popular on the show as well as Boxing champ, Mike Tyson. Not only did Damian and Pamela delight many of us with their dancing in Season 10 (they have been one of my favorite couples to ever dance on the show!), they are doing the same in Argentina…and maybe even more so? Thanks to PureDWTS reader Carlos Lustosa, below is some video footage. In Carlos’ own words, “This show is soooooooo freak that it is irresistible. ahahahahaha”.

Here they are doing the Rumba….

Damian also posted this picture of Pamela on his facebook page.

According to Carlos, the best contestant on the Argentina version of Dancing With The Stars is a dwarf named Noelia. He said “She’s simply amazing. Not Kidding.” You can see Noelia doing a Cha Cha with her partner below…

Here is more from Carlos on the show:

uh, let me just do a review about this season of Bailando… and some latin american versions of SCD/DwtS

This is the 8th season of “argentine dwts” “Bailando por un sueño” and is called just “Bailando 2011”. At first seasons, the show was like this: a star was paired with a “dreamer” (sueñador) and helped him to realize his dream (sueño), that’s why the show was called “Bailando por un sueño” (Dancing for a dream). As long as the couple keeps on competition, more money it earn.

Nowadays, the show is more like DwtS and this season has 30 couples. THIRTY. Most known people are Mike Tyson and Pamela Anderson. Don’t know if you like soccer but the paraguayan muse of 2010 world cup Larissa Riquelme was dancing ther, but left the competition last week due to a injuried knee. Ah, theres a couple of 2 guys, this season (the journalist José María Muscari and partner Emanuel González. video chacha)

As for the judges: there are 5 of them. Each week one of them gives a “secret score” wich will be revealed just on result, after the viewers votes. If you thik that CAI, Bruno and Len are inconstant with their scores, think again. The score difference between the argentinian judges is ridiculous. One can give an 10 and the other a 5, for example. (We don’t see this even on british strictly come dancing…)

Have to say that this version is extremely “lascivious”… there are some sexy-sexy-sexier dances of all DwtS-like shows, such as strip dance and pole dancing.

On former seasons, there were some rhythms that are not well known on DwtS, as merengue, lambada, a lot of salsa styles – cubana (cuban), quebradita (don’t know who to translate… something like broken-y), milonga (kind of fast tango… love this dance) -, cumbia, samba (not the latin ballroom, but the brazilian), axé (a brazilian dance from carnaval of Bahia)…

And if you think that’s all you didnt’ see the peruvian, mexican, ecuadorian versions. Guys, the peruvian version is… I can’t describe, you have to see. On this versions there are some classics like arabian dance, pole dancing, reggaeton, and some dances the do on a different weather… for example they have LAMBADA IN THE RAIN.

Video (delly and josé luis, the winners of their season)

Brazil
Here in Brazil the show is called “Dança dos Famosos” (Famous’ Dance or Stars Dance) is very boring. The production is not a propper show but a part of a sunday show, so, not that good and very far from the US version (wich is a shame) and from the latin american ones (thanks god! ahaha)… but, I like the fact we have some brazilian rhythms such as forró, samba (gafieira) (good video), lambada, and dances that are very common here like bolero, rock (soltinho), and of course, salsa, tango.

If you have time, check axé in the rain, from peruvian Reyes de la Pista (Kings of dance floor): Video (Axé – pronouce almost “ashae”. Detail: 1:50)

Be sure to watch the “comment” section of this post. Carlos is planning to keep us updated!!

Carlos, thanks so much!! This is fun and so fascinating! 😉

And Dancing With The Stars producers if you are reading this, PLEASE BRING BACK DAMIAN WHITEWOOD!!!

Dancing With The Stars Season 12 Champion Hines Ward Named Goodwill Ambassador

Wow, what an honor! ABC is reporting our Season 12 Dancing With The Stars champion, Hines Ward, will serve as a Goodwill Ambassador for the Republic of Korea. For the next year, Hines will be helping to strengthen the ties between the Republic of Korea and the United States. I can’t think of more fitting person to do so, can you? Details below…

Ward was born in South Korea to a Korean mother and African-American father. During his acceptance speech, he credited his mother with his upbringing and says that it wasn’t always easy growing up as a mixed-race child in the United States. As a result of his mother’s hard work and his own, he became a superstar Wide Receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Super Bowl XL MVP. As if being a Super Bowl champion isn’t enough, Ward went on to win season 12 of “Dancing With the Stars” on ABC this past season.

He’s a true inspiration to all kids, but he hopes to influence the lives of mixed-race children all over the world with his Helping Hands Foundation. The foundation helps mixed-race children in South Korea help triumph over discrimination.

Kirstie Alley On Dieting, Dancing With The Stars, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Kirstie Alley continues to get slimmer and slimmer by the day as you can see from a new Daily Mail picture above. Yesterday, Kirstie was a co-host on The View where she was asked about her weight loss. Kirstie remarked that she has lost 90 pounds with 30 of them being after she started dancing on Dancing With The Stars. She also promoted her diet company “Organic Liasons” saying that “the products helped to give her energy to get her through the strenuous competition”. Here is more from The Examiner of Kirstie’s appearance on The View. She is asked on Maks too which I’ll address afterwards.

Actress Kirstie Alley was the guest host on ABC’s talk show , “The View,” on June 21, 2011. Alley sat in along with regular hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd and Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

The first topic was Kirstie Alley herself. Alley has had a public battle with her weight over the past several years. She announced that she has lost a total of 90 pounds. She lost 60 pounds prior to her recent stint on “Dancing with the Stars,” and an additional 30 pounds during the celebrity dance competition. Alley said that beyond the weight loss, the hours of daily dancing changed the shape of her body. The strenuous exercise helped with the weight loss and toned her body, so she looks fabulous.

Kirstie Alley took a few minutes to hawk her company, “Organic Liasons,” saying that the products helped to give her energy to get her through the strenuous competition. The company also focuses on organic living and getting harmful chemicals out of the diet.

Alley was asked whether her relationship with pro-dancer Maks went beyond the professional relationship seen on “Dancing with the Stars.” The dancing couple did seem to have sizzling chemistry, but Kirstie refused to confirm or deny. Make of that what you will.

I can’t believe they asked her if there was something more going on with her and Maks? What if there was? And why is it that people can’t go out with each other without it being said there is something more than a friendship? Anyway, here is Kirstie looking spectacular with Maks as well while attending the “Bad Teacher” premiere in New York Monday night.

Former DWTS Pro Julianne Hough is a Busy Bee!

I’m trying to figure how to write this, and where do I start? Since she left DWTS, shes been extremely busy, and lately, it seems like things are going fast and furious for her.

Currently, she’s busy shooting a movie, like her brother Derek. She’s in Miami, and will be working until sometime in August, and Derek’s in Toronto, and could be wrapping up shortly! When Julianne finishes filming this movie, she’ll be gearing up to promote her second movie, Footloose, which will be in theatres on October 14th. And the first trailer is out…. NOW!!!! Julianne plays Ariel Moore, the preacher’s daughter. And other than that, I have no words…. Just watch the trailer…

Monday, though, she was in New York City for a very worthy cause, to raise awareness of therapy dogs, and helped to kick off the first ever American Hero Dog awards voting. She was fortunate enough to perform an acoustic concert for some Military Vets, and meet with the wonderful therapy dogs that were there. And there was quite a bit of press at the event, and they didn’t just talk with her about the reason she came. She answered questions about co-star Tom Cruise, her relationship and why it works so well, her own dogs, Lexi and Harley, what she took from the Harry Potter set that she wasn’t supposed to take with her….  You can read those HERE or HERE or HERE. The last one has a video, click to go see it. If you want any more information about those topics, you’ll have to click and read for yourself, because they don’t really have to do with DWTS, and I don’t want to waste too much space here. 🙂

More importantly, she was asked if she was ever going to return to Dancing with the Stars, and she said…

Can fans expect her to return to the ballroom on Dancing With the Stars?
“You never know — maybe. I would love to go back to one of the results shows where they bring back people to dance and maybe get to dance with my brother again. I’m dancing here and there. It’s hard because my path has changed a little bit, but I dance a little bit in Rock of Ages, so I’m still rockin’ and rollin’.”

Here’s a video that explains a little bit about the Hero Dog Awards. I know it’s not DWTS related, but it’s a good cause, I think. Every vote will help therapy dogs. And just click here if you want more info.

Heidi’s Note: Since we’re talking Houghs, I must add this picture, because I love it so much. 🙂

Former Dancing With The Stars Contestant & Legendary Austronaut Buzz Aldrin Filed For His Third Divorce

According to TMZ, Buss Aldrin, second man to walk on the moon, has filed for a divorce today from Lois Driggs Cannon who he married on Valentines Day in 1988. This will make this Buzz’s third divorce. As you all know, Buzz was partnered with Ashly DeGrosso on Dancing With The Stars in Season 10. Anyone remember them dancing the Cha Cha? I remember thinking this guy had so much guts at his age to do Dancing With The Stars. What’s more, he did it with honor and grace. As for Ashly, what a charmer too.

We at Pure DWTS would like to exend our best wishes out to this legendary astronaut and DWTS class act and hope he will be ok!!!

Season 11 3rd Place Winner Bristol Palin Writes About Dancing With The Stars In New Memoir

….and I have to say some of her words are not VERY NICE!!! What’s more, she sounds ungrateful and conceited (Heidi: and insecure, projecting and hypocritical). I will let the below quotes speak for themselves and you see if you agree? I feel more disgusted with Bristol right now more than I ever did when Bristol was on the Dancing With The Stars. I bet producers are wishing they never asked her to dance.

Below is a take from ABC (which these words were also discussed in the video below in more depth).

Palin also shares not-so-fond memories of her 2010 stint on “Dancing With the Stars,” where she and her professional partner, Mark Ballas, finished in third place.

“I noticed some of the contestants rolled their eyes when they realized we’d survived to dance another day,” she writes, adding that some of the contenders voted off “literally would not speak to us or acknowledge our presence.”

Below is an excerpt from the book provided by ABC. Bristol writes…

After Dancing with the Stars, I knew more about “body makeup,” paso doble, and David Hasselhoff than I ever wanted to know. I left with great friends, newfound confidence, and a hefty check that I used to invest in real estate to help secure my future with Tripp.

But none of it was “real.” Though emotions sometimes got carried away, they were the kind of emotions that spring from unusually cool circumstances, glimmery disco balls, and lots of television cameras. The producers made some pretty poignant “backstory” segments to add emotional interest while the contestants rehearsed. That’s where viewers learned that Kyle Massey’s family was just about to move back to Georgia when he finally got work on That’s So Raven, about Jennifer Grey’s automobile accident, and about Florence Henderson’s grief over her husband’s death. Though the segments were sleekly produced tearjerkers, they at least hinted at the “reality” that this “reality television show” had taken us away from. The backstories, were, of course, the real stories.

When the show was over, we all faded back into life and Dancing with the Stars became just a chapter in our lives. (In my case, quite literally!) I was happy to return to my normal life, to help forge a new “backstory” for myself into something better than being a “teen mom” or “teen activist.” After all, I’m twenty years old now!

I relaxed in Arizona, where I had just purchased my new home with my earnings from Dancing with the Stars, after the show before I returned to Alaska for Christmas. I was thankful to get back to a simpler life—the kind that consisted of just Tripp and me and snowmachines and absolutely no spinning around in heels and sequins.

One of the cool things about my “backstory life” is that sometimes I get wonderful opportunities to have eye-opening adventures. Dancing with the Stars was one of those experiences,….

And here’s a video from ABC.

So, who plans to buy Bristol’s book? I sure won’t be!! Also, more than anything, I think it’s sad too that Bristol would write a book scathing her own son’s father. Is she not only thinking of herself or what? She writes of the McCain greed, but, what about her own? Lastly, what kind of people would encourage her to write a book like this?

(Heidi: What an utter ___. So, the McCains are greedy, but I don’t see them working on reality show number 2, writing a book at age 20 for a huge upfront fee, or speaking about abstinence for hefty fees. Typical Palin – so totally lacking in self awareness that the hypocrisy and irony is completely missed. And yes, Vogue, I was appalled at what she had to say about Levi – the kid is also an idiot, but he is your child’s FATHER and perhaps it would be good to think about that before putting nastiness in print for the whole world to see – for money, ironicially.)

Dance of the Day… Let’s compare Helio and Kristi!

Ah, Memories!!! One thing that I’ve noticed while watching older seasons of DWTS, is how much the JUDGES have changed! Or, NOT! They seem like the same people we see now on the judging panel, only….. Not as much! It’s like as the season passed, they’ve all become stronger versions of themselves, so that they can have the spotlight on them…. (Heidi’s Note: I’m still working on the series discussing the Judges and their “growth” or “devolution”, depending on your perspective, and Season 7 will be posted soon. Season 5 and Season 6 were posted during the last hiatus, if you want to catch up.)

We’ve been taking the time, and revisiting our twelve DWTS Champions on their first week of their Seasons. These were our first impressions that we had of them, and we’re comparing them, two at a time. Once we get through all 12 seasons, I’ve got a couple ideas rolling around inside my head. First, we saw Season 1’s Kelly Monaco and Season 2’s Drew Lachey, and you can see that post here. Next, we saw Season 3’s Emmitt Smith and Season 4’s Apolo Anton Ohno, and you can see that post here.

Onward we move and today we get to revisit our first impressions of Season 5’s Helio Castroneves, and Season 6’s Kristy Yamaguchi.

Helio’s professional partner for Season 5 was Julianne Hough, who had also won the previous season with Apolo Anton Ohno. He was the third athlete in a row to win DWTS, following Emmitt and Apolo. He’s the only race car driver that’s competed on DWTS, and had won the Indianapolis 500 twice at the time he competed. Since then, he’s added another Indy 500 win!

Kristy’s professional partner for Season 6 was Mark Ballas. She is an Olympic Gold Medalist in Women’s Figure Skating, and was one of those contestants where I was sure couldn’t be the age she said she was, she had to be younger. Yet, grow up she did, with a wonderful Professional Hockey player-husband, and the sweetest little kids….

HELIO CASTRONEVES AND JULIANNE HOUGH Season 5 Week 1. They danced a foxtrot to the TV Theme to Bewitched. This is the season where Samantha Harris took a few weeks off at the beginning of the season to bring her first daughter into the world, Drew Lachey took over guest host duties during her (way too brief) maternity leave.

KRISTI YAMAGUCHI AND MARK BALLAS Season 6 Week 1. I must apologize, because I’ve been misspelling her name, and I’m too lazy to go back and correct them all… Normally, misspelling names really bothers me. They danced a foxtrot, and the song isn’t in the info… (Heidi’s Note: Michael Buble’s “The More I See You” according to Wiki)

Cheryl Burke On Fullfast Dieting, Bikini Tips, Dating, Dancing With The Stars, and More

Cheryl chats to Celebuzz about representing FullFast, an appetite control spray that helps curb food cravings. Along with giving some bikini and exercising tips, Cheryl also addresses the romance rumors with Maks and dating, and whether she will be back to dance next season on Dancing With The Stars. More at the link as well as info on a Fullfast Giveaway.

We all know you dance, do you do other exercises as well?
I’m a big fan of Jazzercise. Most people think of Jazzercise as their mother’s workout but I have to tell you those DVD’s kick my butt. I can burn up to 600 calories in an hour which is an amazing workout.

Diet is important too! What do you suggest for a healthy snack?
I like to snack on apples, nuts, melon, berries some yogurts but with yogurt you have to remember to check the label because some brands are crazy high in sugars which really derail the healthy aspect.

Romance rumors seem to follow you everywhere! Recently you and Max were supposedly an item. Are you in fact dating anyone now and what do you make of all the rumors?
I’m not dating anyone now. Being in the spotlight I sometimes feel pressure to be in a relationship because then I’d have an answer to this question because it always comes up!

Will you be back on Dancing next season?
We, as pros, never have a guarantee that we’ll be on season after season. It really all depends on the celebrity cast and if they see us as a good match. I hope they ask me back because it’s the best job to have!

Cheryl has so many irons in the fire, I don’t know how she does it all sometimes?

Dancing With The Stars 2011 Maksim Chmerkovskiy Updates On His New Dance Studios, Jewelry line, and More!

Maks released a new Blog Video at his You Tube Channel today! He announces he’s back at “Soho” currently. He’s excited about how “exciting” life is at the moment. It’s “fast” and it’s “interesting”. Maks is also excited about his dance studios….especially the new studio opening up in Los Angeles. They are looking at other cities for studio locations too (please scope out DENVER too, Maks and Tony!). Maks also talks of how glad he is that The Bachelor is over and he boldy states he never plans to be a Bachelor on TV ever again. He then thanks all the fans for following and supporting him. He also thanks those who are “not” supporting him because you push and motivate him. Finally, Maks mentions his jewelry line will finally be released to Amazon.com, Endless.com, and a “big retail giant” (which he doesn’t mention which one it is yet) by the end of this week. Great video! Check it out! I’ve never seen him more happy, and excited about life!

Heidi’s Note: It appears Maks deleted the video – someone let me know when he puts it back up and I’ll re-insert it. Maybe his “haters” were attacking him. LOL

Vogue back and here ya go. I hope it’s not deleted again;

Adding; Maks also talked to Access Hollywwod about his dance studios today including the new studio planned for Los Angeles. He also reveals why he loves dancing so much and why he loves promoting it.

“I love dancing. I love what it does and I love promoting it,” states Maks.

What dancing does is shape shift many a body into a toned body of work. Need proof? Just check out Kirstie Alley or other “DWTS” slim-down alum Kelly Osbourne.

“Dancing is a great workout because it requires you to use every inch of your body. Its high intensity and the dynamic rhythmical changes elevate your heart and burns calories faster than regular cardio,” states “DWTS” troupe member, Ted Volynets, who also trains at Dance With Me studio. “The fact that dancing is a FULL body workout results in it sculpting your entire body. You are losing weight and toning up simultaneously. Your core muscles are engaged the entire time, holding your posture strengthens your back, and your legs are always active.”

Yet, for those who feel darn right silly getting on the dance floor, Ted has this advice – “It’s cliche but it’s true: ‘Dance like no one is watching.’ As with anything else in life, if you are caught up with what other people are thinking, you are missing the moment and opportunity to better yourself!”

DWTS Maksim Chmerkovskiy & Cheryl Burke Blow Crowd Away At Southwest Airlines 40th Anniversary Party

Last night, Cheryl and Maks made a surprise appearance and danced in Dallas for Southwest Airlines 40th Anniversary Party. Thank goodness You Tuber FwdZumba was there for the event who at least was able to film them on the big screen. According to Maks’ and Cheryl’s twitter the crowd was ‘amazing’. So much so, they performed an encore. I like this tweet from Maks which described the night and the crowds reaction so well;

https://twitter.com/#!/MaksimC/status/82324299125501952

Watching that video now atleast three times already (lol), I can see why the crowd reacted the way they did. This has inspired a question: which pros do you think look the steamiest together when dancing and/or have the most chemistry? They look so steamy, you wonder sometimes if there isn’t something more between them? I’m not saying there is anything going on with Maks and Cheryl, but, they, no doubt, have a strong chemistry…one that is even sexual in nature. WAY HOT!!!!! 🙂
