DWTS12 End of Season Award Winners – Which Celebrity Improved the Most Throughout the Season?
John: After seeing Master P, I wasn’t sure that Romeo would ever turn the corner and let himself go. I think he definitely deserves this award in my book.
Heidi: I also have to give it to Romeo, easily. Kirstie was more of an inverted bell curve – started out good, faltered a good bit, and then got better
Marianya: Romeo… I really grew to like him over the course of the season, I could have gotten used to him being around a bit longer…
Vogue: Yep, Romeo for me too! During the pre-show period and in the beginning, he seemed a little full of himself and I was beginning to get really annoyed when he didn’t want to wear the dance shoes or seemed too cool to get into it all. I didn’t think he’d last long even though you could feel and see a tiny spark there. Then suddenly, he started surprising us all. I loved how he bloomed in so many ways. It was pure joy and even magical watching him when he put the coolness aside and became a class act…..now that was COOL!
Courtney: No disagreement here! I loved watching Romeo really grow throughout the season. I think the turning point was his foxtrot – that was the first time he seemed to really enjoy himself and took the quality of his dancing to a whole new level. By the time he was eliminated, I daresay he was giving Chelsea, Kirstie, Hines & Ralph all a decent run for their money, technique-wise. He also seemed to really grow as a person – he started off the cool cat that thought wearing dance shoes was lame; as the weeks went by, he shed the bravado and the facade and showed a vulnerability I don’t think anyone could’ve expected from him when the season started – except for my mom, who loved him from day 1…she’s got good intuition
. Definitely a bright spot of this season for me! As for Kirstie – I kinda agree with Heidi that it wasn’t so much that she improved, but she started off good, kinda fell into a slump, and then recovered and was good again at the end. Chris would probably be my 2nd place on this one – he started off pretty darn bad, then slowly improved before getting dealt a crappy hand (or rather, song & dance) the week he was eliminated. Kendra improved a little bit the last 2 weeks or so that she was in the competition, but I don’t think it was a vast improvement; Petra stayed about the same for me the short time she was around. Write-in responses: Ralph (6), Hines (5), Chelsea (3). I don’t think Hines improved at all – he started off good and remained consistent the entire season. Kinda the same deal with Chelsea – I think she was a good dancer the whole season through, but the ups & downs she had with the judges due to bad choreography choices on Mark’s part probably gave the false impression that she was improving. Big difference between getting good scores w/the judges (which are often skewed to fit their biases) and actually improving
As for Ralph – I feel like it’s a bit of the same phenomenon: Ralph really started off good and ended pretty good with the smooth dances, and consistently did bad at the Latin dances…but the way the judges were all over the place with the scores, it often made it seem like he was doing far better (or worse) than he really was.

I had a mind blank while I was reading this. I honestly had to ask myself, “Chris who?” Once I figured out who he is, I couldn’t believe I’d forgotten him.
I guess that it shows how easily DURING the season, people can fall through the cracks, and they end up getting eliminated. Just using the ones above, Kirstie was memorable because she’s Kirstie. And she did turn into a train wreck for a few weeks, and she probably could have been eliminated, except she was paired with Maks, and they ended up being the perfect pair for each other… Super Maks, and his damsel in distress Kirstie. Romeo was memorable because he’s Master P’s father, and he ended up being the total opposite, and we liked to watch him grow as a dancer. Petra was memorable because she was the beauty who survived the tsunami, graceful and kind and sweet and loving. Kendra was memorable because she was the one that kept getting voted through and people asking themselves, “HOW?” And in that mix, there was Chris….. Sweet guy, making progress and having fun, but probably got lost between some of the overthetop personalities.
Romeo, Oh Romeo…. Definitely deserves the top spot, what a journey he took us all on. On of the true surprises of Season 12. I was sorry to see him leave.
Pretty much agree with everyone above. I think Kirstie and Ralph were neck in neck on their improvement, started out strong, then just idled by, then started getting stronger.
Romeo definitely.
I guess Kirstie improved too… She started off falling and loosing her shoe, then she started acting all the way through. That’s an improvement, right.
I am surprised that Chris got more votes than Petra. In week one, I remember thiniknig she won’t last that long and won’t get good but she really proved me wrong. Chris’ last week dance (tango?) was terrible while her last dance was better than the judges amde it sound.

On a siden ote, I think I want to see Dr. Oz on the show now. I stumbled accross this on the internet and he could be good on the show.
Definitely Romeo – as everyone said, he was the person whose dancing really came on the most. He really didn’t deserve to go home when he did. He was my surprise of the season. He really grew on me as the weeks went on. It’s exactly as what DWTS is about – he fell in love with dancing!
I think dwts should add more priced … Not MBTs but some sort of medals or something for different categories…. You know what I saying?
This was a great topic or question. Something, it would be interesting to track through the seasons-and, maybe, even have the show issue reward points for such achievement, a kind of handicapping system??? In any event, one does wonder how the pros are assigned. It doesn’t work every season, but I have to give Van Amstel props for taking some very weak dancers and making them stronger, even if not competitive with the best. Anna, also?? By these votes, seems to reflect Ralph’s journey-may have started off too strong!

Yes! I’d love that too.
Romeo! Loved this young man last season.
When Romeo started acting goofy it’s just complete love from me
For me, when his goofiness came out that’s when he improved by leaps and bounds, just about the best part of waiting for each episode from week to week ♥
