Today on The View, hosts Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, and Barbara Walters talked about “Dancing With The Stars”. Sherri Shepherd, in particular, indeed loves this show and what it’s all about. The others try to joke about the catastrophes on the show while Sherri is more serious and even gets defensive. It turns into a debate. lol Funny stuff and I think this girl (Sherri) is dying to dance. Be sure to turn into The View tomorrow (Wednesday) as Tom Bergeron will be making a guest appearance.
Over last weekend, Louis travelled to Chicago to attend an outdoors event for women called “Are You Game?” presented by Women’s Health Magazine. ABC7 in Chicago covered the event. Below is Louis and Katie Johnson of Women’s Health Magazine talk on the importance of women staying fit and how dancing can help. They also talk on the beginnings of Dancing With The Stars. Louis says he and everyone on the show were nervous and didn’t think it would get as popular as it did. They also talk about the “Snooki” rumors. Louis didn’t seem to keen to the idea of dancing with her. lol All this and more including Louis dancing. A must see!
Would you ever think there might be similarities between golfing and dancing and that you can utilize the two to help both? I know it might not make sense, but, it might after you watch this new video of Tony on the Golf Channel. He gives parents some good tips for kids too to keep them fit. You can view it >>>>HERE.
Speaking of dancing, Saturday, July 30th, is “National Dance Day”. Get out there and get your jiggy on in any dance form you please. No excuses! :) In honor of the event, here is a blast from the past. Carrie Ann bringing it in the 90’s!!
Special thanks to @DWTSGossip at twitter for the video of Tony.
Today, Maks made a guest appearance on “Master Chef” in the Ukraine. They interviewed him on his favorite foods, cooking, the making of “The Bachelor”, and his love to dance. Here is a take from Kiev Media Week. Keep in mind when reading that this is a google transalation so, it reads a little different. You can view some fun new pics of Maks at the link as well. Special thanks to @DWTSSeason12 at Facebook for this article.
Maxim, you’re tired of TV projects?
No, absolutely. На In fact, I never wanted to get on TV, it all started with the “Dancing with the Stars”, because dancing – it’s mine. By itself, television work – this is not the bricks to lug around. I always meet new and interesting personalities, and meet new people.
What are your impressions of shooting at Yalta?
Very cool. I am a professional dancer, I like to teach people to dance. Because, despite the fact that we had to get up at 4:30, Yalta became for me a break. A lot of talented guys. Only in terms of hip-hop and modern Ukrainian dancers noticeably lag behind the U.S. I think it’s very promising, and I want to develop it in Ukraine.
What was your first cooking experience?
For the first time I stood up to the plate when I left the family home. Then I cooked some scrambled eggs, if not mistaken.
There were culinary failure?
I’m at all surprised that everything went well today – One day my brother and parents were invited for dinner and decided to make sushi. It turned out that this was not the best idea …
What’s love of food?
I do love food. But the specific weaknesses in the meal plan I have. Although there … I love bread. But not often can not afford it in large quantities: only during intense workouts. Actually, I eat very well and do not accept junk food. My free-range. If I go to the store, for example, I’m not going to buy a simple egg, and take free-range (from chickens free-range). And let it costs more, but I eat the right foods clean.
Yet a few words about the “Bachelor”. What are advantages for you for your participation in the show? And whether the cons?
Of course, I was very impressed with the popularity of the Ukraine, because this is my home. The only thing that is difficult – the position of exile, because it seems to us, and there do not like and not like here. And I’m tired of what I knew as a bachelor – is not that a little title that I want to wear.
We’re sharing 5 different quicksteps, hopefully you’ll find them a good cross of the 12 seasons. I will admit that 2 of them were picked because I decided to play favorites, and the others were random finds, or ones that I enjoyed seeing the first time, that I remembered. Scratch that…. One was random. And, I REALLY wanted only 3 quicksteps. I couldn’t figure out which ones to not review this time.
First, from season 1, I found Joey McIntyre and Ashly DelGrosso. They performed the quickstep during Week 2, to “You’re the One That I Want,” by John Travolta and Olivia Newton John, from the movie Grease. Honestly, I picked this one simply because I didn’t know all of the cast from Season 1, and when I typed in dwts season 1 quickstep into the search on youtube, this is the first one I found.
JOEY MCINTYRE AND ASHLY DEL GROSSO SEASON 1
Hmmm….. It’s funny, I was expecting Len to say something about his bum sticking out…. How many times in subsequent seasons, has Len said that to? Anyway, Joey and Ashly scored an 8, 7, 6 for 21 points.
Next, from season 3, I picked Monique Coleman and Louis Van Amstel. They performed the quickstep during week 7, to “Luck Be a Lady” by Frank Sinatra. I picked this one, because Monique is my favorite partner for Louis on the show. I know many people loved Kelly, but I do think that Monique was a great match for Louis, and I LOVED the intricate choreography that he gave her throughout the entire season, and she rose to the occasion. And something she says during the package was really true for that season.
MONIQUE COLEMAN AND LOUIS VAN AMSTEL SEASON 3
Monique and Louis scored a 9, 9, 9, for a total of 27 points.
Next, from season 5, I picked Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough, because it’s one of my favorite quicksteps, and my favorite partnership. They performed the quickstep in week 8, to “Hey, Pachuco,”by Royal Crown Review from the movie The Mask. That season, I went to youtube, and found that scene in the movie, and sat there and marveled that she was able to match the movie so well, and still keep it a quickstep. Well, I thought, anyway.
HELIO CASTRONEVES AND JULIANNE HOUGH SEASON 5
Helio and Julianne received a 10, 10, 10 for 30 points.
I didn’t mean to pick 2 from the same season, it just happened that way. I ended up liking them both. I really meant to cut one, but I couldn’t decide. So we get to see both!
Evan Lysacek joined us in Season 10, fresh off the Olympics. And here is where I admit to NOT watching any of the Olympics, so I honestly don’t know if he won the Gold medal or not! I’m sure the producers thought it would be funny pairing him with our Russian Anna, but they were really a fabulous pair, and they did bring the best out of them both. I really loved them as a pair, and Anna did some fabulous choreography to pull Evan’s personality out. They performed their quickstep in Week 3, to “Hot Honey Rag” from Chicago. Where Evan’s from, as he points out…
EVAN LYSACEK AND ANNA TREBUNSKAYA SEASON 10
I watched this one several times, and each time I noticed something that made me think….. Some I won’t mention. But, it did start to bother me how long it took them to get into hold, so I TRIED to watch again to figure out exactly how long, and the closest I got was AROUND 15 seconds. I’d heard before that they supposedly get 10 seconds at the beginning and 10 seconds at the end to “do what they want” to start and finish the dance, but it seems that over the seasons, the judges play fast and free and only use that rule for those they want to, and disregard it for those they want to. ANYWAY, Evan and Anna received a 9, 8, 9 for 26 points.
Also in Season 10, the rulebreaking quickstep…. It’s been discussed to death, so I won’t say anything….. But I do like it, it is one of my favorites. And yes, they break hold, but there are others who have, also. Without being penalized. They danced to “Anything Goes,” by Cole Porter.
NICOLE SCHERZINGER AND DEREK HOUGH SEASON 10
After all of the verbal whiplash from the judges, I don’t think in any way, that Bruno’s score matched what he said. Len? Yes. Carrie Ann? Who understands her thinking, anyway? Nicole and Derek received an 8, 6, 9 for 23 points.
Rewatching these, though, I found how OBVIOUS Len got, in making it SO much tougher for the better dancers…. I really love both Nicole and Helio’s quicksteps, they’re probably my favorites. And, their teachers are my favorites, too. But, I think Len was MUCH easier on Helio, than he was Nicole. I do think both lived up to their potential, but I think Len held Nicole to a higher standard, and he was much harsher on her while critiquing. And BOTH broke hold, which is a no-no, but Nicole was harshly penalized, while Helio wasn’t. Hmmm…..
I think I just like the quickstep. And the rumba. And the foxtrot. And…..
This past week Maks, his brother Val, and business partner, Eugene Livshits travelled to the Ukraine (their homeland) to give a master class for the show “Everybody Dance” at a Yalta resort. It’s hard to make out the articles (even translated), but, you can read about it here and here. You can also see some fabulous photos like the pics below at both links. Maks is looking fine to say the least. :D
Special thanks to DWTSSeason12 at facebook for the links!
Wow, what a coup this would be! Today, TMZ (which has been a good source for information for the the show in the past which ends up coming true) is reporting producers are on the hunt for more “high profile” celebrities for next season instead of “gimmicky” d-list stars they’ve booked in the past. Here is a take from the link for how they plan on doing it.
In order to lock down the BIG names, we’re told producers are offering A-listers complete control over their rehearsal schedule — telling them there’s NO minimum rehearsal requirements … and they can practice as little or as much as they want.
Celebs will also have final say on music selections and costume design … including colors, cuts and styles.
So far, no word if producers have signed any of the “high profile” people in their crosshairs.
So, what do you think? Will giving celebrities final say on certain things help in getting them signed? I think it might somewhat, but, in the end “money” talks the most I would think? I hope they can get some A-listers, but, I’ve liked some of the d-listers in the past and how the show has revived some of their careers or popularity. Even if it didn’t, it was great seeing them again. (IE: Jennifer Grey, Kirstie Alley, and Ralph Macchio to list a few).
In June, we posted about Peta Murgatroyd’s new photo spread in Regard Magazine. Well, now Regard Magazine has released some “behind the scenes” coverage of Peta’s beautiful shoot where she showcases A.Che`Swimwear! Our Dancing With The Stars Troupe Star (and maybe future teacher to a celebrity) is stunning to say the least!! See if you don’t agree!
Stay tuned because we hear Regard Magazine is doing a future spread with Kym Johnson next!
The Dance Studio’s and Classes of our pros seem to be more popular than ever this summer. They continue to make news headlines. Such is true for Louis Van Amstel and Karina Smirnoff and their studios. This past week ABC7 in Los Angeles interviewed the two about them. They are helping a lot of people out there.
Below is Karina being interviewed by Hollywood 411 at her dance studio. She talks of her Dancing With The Stars wish list again in this one.
We have more contenders to add to the Dancing With The Stars Season 13 Cast rumors list this week. For starters, we have former Florida State governor and 2012 Presidential GOP hopeful, Jeb Bush (Say WHAT?) and “Basketball Wives” reality star and Chad Ochocinco’s fiance, Evelyn Lozada. Below is what TMZ is reporting on Evelyn. Chad says she’s in “talks” with Dancing With The Stars. He also might be involved with the show again somehow. As you know Chad was paired with Cheryl Burke in Season 10.
“Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada may soon follow in her fiance’s fox-trotting footsteps — TMZ has learned the future Mrs. Chad Ochocinco is in talks to join the next season of “Dancing with the Stars!”
Sources connected to the show tell us … “Dancing” producers love the idea of having Evelyn on the show — especially since she’s engaged to Chad who was a previous contestant.
We’re told the show is even hoping to involve Mr. Ochocinco … since he’s now an expert in the ways of the ballroom.
As for Jeb Bush, tonight (Friday night) he sits down with Hannity on Fox to talk about the upcoming Presidential election. Below is what Jeb is quoted as saying about dancing and a run for the Presidency. You can read more at the Miami Herald. I wouldn’t take take this too seriously as this sounds like a tongue and cheek comment. In fact, I almost didn’t report on it.
On a 2012 run for president: “I don’t anticipate that, you never say never. This is a standard answer that I’ve kind of learned how to give which is — you never say never, but I never ruling out being on Dancing with the Stars either.”
Also, Wendy Williams has a new video up at her site where she talks of Sherri Shepherd in talks to do the show. We reported on Sherri earlier and this isn’t the first season she has been rumored to dance. She was rumored to dance in Season 10 and remarked she wanted to dance with Maks. Thanks to Puredwts reader Maddy for this news….
Oh, and for those hoping for Snooki to dance on Dancing With The Stars, Rumorfix is reporting that her manager says the talks are not true (thank goodness!! Many of us are sighing in relief!). More below…
Multiple blogs are reporting that the Jersey Shore star is going to pick up where Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino left off — and she’s in talks with the hit TV show.
But Snooki’s manager, Scott Talarico, tells RumorFix, “Not true.”
We know you’re probably as disappointed as we are — so we can confirm that Snooki and the rest of the Jersey Shore gang will be making a cameo in the Three Stooges movie, starring Sean P. Hayes, Jane Lynch and Sofia Vergara.
Lastly and adding: Mike Tyson doesn’t plan on dancing on the show anytime soon by the sounds of this tweet;
For the last time, I am not doing Dancing with the Stars. I don’t know where this rumor started but it is not true.
So, how do you feel about Jeb, Evelyn, and Sherri? Evelyn might be cool, but, I’m not sure about Jeb? I guess I should just be thankful it’s not his brother GEORGE!! Ok, so I am bad. :) Sherri might be ok, but, please don’t put her with Maks!
