DWTS Season 13 Rumor!! Evelyn Lozada Part Deux…
Oy veh. Another non-celebrity trying very, very hard to give the impression she’s definitely on the next season of DWTS. To be fair, it sounds like she is the equivalent of a Melissa Rycroft or a Trista Sutter…but come on gang, really?? The only reason I give this one any bit of credence is because we originally reported this rumor as coming from TMZ. Say what you want about TMZ, but they have leaked the cast early in the past. Of course, they don’t always get it right…but they don’t always get it wrong either.
Here’s Evelyn’s contribution today, on Twitter. Make of it what you will.

If I were to rate this rumor from strongest to weakest, I’d give it a 9 on the strongest side.
Who is she? I’ve never heard of her.
@Magnolia – She’s on the reality show Basketball Wives on VH1. Which is a bit of a misnomer, considering only 3 of the 7 ladies on that show have actually been married to an NBA player at some point, and only 1 is still married to an NBA player – the rest are primarily girlfriends and baby mamas. Anywho…she owns a shoe boutique in Miami, has a daughter, and is engaged to Chad Ochocinco. She’s also a heinous bitch.
At least I think so, from her venomous comments and antagonistic behavior on BW. Rumor has it she is the one who forced Chad to change his legal surname back to Johnson, because she didn’t want to be “Evelyn Ochocinco” when they were married.
I seriously hope Evelyn is just all talk and wishful thinking, a la Theresa Giudice pre-season 11. I could see her being like another Wendy Williams – just totally full of herself on the show, regardless of her dance skills. Which means Tony would probably get stuck with her
@Courtney – Thanks. Wow, not someone they really need on the show. They need to realize that they don’t always need a “drama queen” for the show to be interesting!
Wow! Lots of EL haters out there…and with good reasons. Let’s face it folks, DWTS is really a Popularity Contest set to music and dance. That’s the reality of it. As far as Evelyn goes, I think she’d be awesome on the dance floor. Being from the Bronx she’s probably picked up some rhythm and musicality from the area. I know a little about that since I grew up in NYC as well. If Evelyn can find a way to leave the BBW witch at home she might do well in this competition.
People always make the mistake of believing that just because THEY think someone is popular and would do well in the competition, that everyone knows who that person is and their popularity is a reality. I had never EVER heard of this woman before – pretty sure I’m not alone. As a relative unknown, she will have to be a fantastic ballroom dancer in order to make it to the halfway point.
RE: I had never EVER heard of this woman before – pretty sure I’m not alone.
That’s how it is with 50% of the contestants on this show. I hadn’t heard of her either until her name came up in the rumor mill. She’s well-known to the viewers of VH1 and that’s one reason the producers are going after her. They’re also looking for a “magnetic” controversial personality and Evelyn fits the bill perfectly.
Oh, sorta like Mike Catherwood was last season?
Regardless of her dance skills, DWTS really is a popularity contest – which is why I don’t think Evelyn will do very well. Celebs on the show can be decent dancers, but still get sent home due to a stank attitude or a failure to connect with viewers. Likewise, a crummy dancer can stick around if they’re likeable enough. Unless Evelyn does a complete 180 and is all of a sudden Little Miss Sunshine, I could see her being an early ouster – she may have a big following on VH1, but how many of those same people will tune into DWTS to vote for her? And how many DWTS viewers who don’t know who she is will like her enough to pick up the phone? We’ve always said that you kinda have to connect to the middle-aged female population in order to do well on this show, since it’s the biggest demographic of viewers. Not sure how many 40-something housewives are going to be able to relate to Evelyn’s jet-setting, big-spending, designer-wearing, athlete-dating lifestyle.
I thought DWTS was trying to get more “A-list” celebrities this season…if Evelyn is their idea of A-list, ooh wee
On a slightly different note, DWTS is changing their strategy to get more “A-list” celebs and I hope it works. They’re promising more control over their dance schedules and the music they dance to. God, I hope so, because some of their musical selections have been REALLY OFF in past seasons. As for the A-list most fans are hoping for, I don’t think Season 13 will hit the mark. Perhaps Season 14?
LOL Evaine. And Kim Kardashian before him.
I said it before and I’ll say it again – giving the celebs that much control over what they wear and what they dance to is a HORRENDOUS idea – totally stupid. How on earth is some random celeb, A list or not, going to know what will make a good Paso song?? And what kind of costuming works with a Paso? I think it gives the pros have a much more difficult job than they already have – and the end result could look like shit. Hopefully, some of these so called “A listers” will be SMART enough to leave these decisions to those who know what they are talking about – the Pros. What have we seen when the celebs get their way in the past?? Crappy Free styles, godawful costuming…no thanks, I like my old DWTS with C and D list celebs. I like when they are transformed by professionals.
Re: I said it before and I’ll say it again – giving the celebs that much control over what they wear and what they dance to is a HORRENDOUS idea – totally stupid.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
Speaking of Sheri Shepard https://twitter.com/sherrieshepherd/status/99195189616320512
Interesting!!!
@Maddy – Thats very interesting, indeed. However, I dont think theres a snowballs chance in h*ll that Sheri will do the show. Sheri resides in NY, and I believe is getting married next month, and also stated that she wants to have another baby. But she also says she wants to be in shape for both. So…. Unless Babs lets her make other daily arrangements, I dont think it will ever happen. jmo though.
She can fly back and frth like many others if Babs let her.
@Maddy – I would be shocked if Sheri was to do the show this season. I watch The View just about every day and while Sheri often says she wants to do it very much, her co-hosts and her boss tell her NO in no uncertain terms. Marriage, honeymoon, new husband, trying for a baby, The View… I just don’t see it happening no matter how much she’d like it to.
Beside all that – how is this new information?? Sherri has been saying for how long she wants to be on DWTS?? How is this different??
Correct me if I’m wrong…but don’t the ladies on The View kind of rip DWTS apart on a daily basis during the season? I’m sure they call it “discussing”, and maybe it’s just me, but everytime they open their mouths I can only hear vultures squawking at each other as they fight over who gets to tear apart the latest piece of meat. In other words, I hate that show
But I digress. I’m not sure any of them would even get an invite at this point, the way they talk sh*t. If I were TPTB, I’d totally go all teenage girl and refuse to invite any of them to my party for talking sh*t about me behind my back.
Both ABC shows, Court. And while Babs and Joy kind of pooh-pooh DWTS, Sherri and um… Elizabitch are big fans. Whoopi doesn’t get the big deal.
“Elizabitch”! lol Evaine! She’s my least favorite of them all. I love when Whoopi and Joy rip her a new one.
Ugh – I’m hearing names in the comments today that I would love to ban. “Cheryl Cole” and now “Elizabeth Hasselbeck”. Ugh.
LOL Heidi!!!!! It’s like hearing the name Ann Coulter or Bristol or Sarah Palin, isn’t it?! *cringe*
:::shiver::: Ann Coulter is the root of all evil – Cheryl and Elizabitch are not in her league, lucky for them.
LOLLLL!!!!
Giving A-lister (and other celebs) more control over costumes and music choices probably really means giving that celeb’s pro dancer more control over costumes and music, rather than the show’s producers. And let’s face it – it’s not as if the DWTS producers do such a great job choosing the music that the pro/celebs dance to – the producers have made some pretty horrendous and ill-fitting choices. I think it would be a pretty stupid celeb who wouldn’t listen to his/her pro partner where music choices are concerned and even where costume choices are concerned (and those who don’t listen will likely makes fools of themselves and learn a quick lesson). So although it initially sounds scary to give the celebs this power, in reality I don’t think it’s as crazy or “out there” as it sounds.
Well, that’s no change at all Sandra. The pros have had a say in the music during most seasons – they submit a list of songs they would like at the beginning of the season, from what I’ve always heard – from the Pros themselves. They don’t always get what they want, but not usually out of spite, but more because they can’t clear the song with the copyright holder. I think the only season where there was a lot of music where the pros had little choice was either 10 or 11 – can’t remember which. But last season, I clearly remember Mark being excited on more than one occassion that he got songs he asked for.
Quite often it happens that the songs they want can’t be cleared and the producers have to come up with a list that can be cleared. So, how they intend to turn that over to the “stars” is a bit of a mystery. Let them choose what songs they want and then try to clear them, and if they can’t clear them give them the choice again? Still – potential for disaster is great.
As for the costuming – that’s always been the pros job (if they want it) as well. Derek, for one, is very involved in all the costuming and I know several of the other pros have said the same thing.
Re:They don’t always get what they want, but not usually out of spite, but more because they can’t clear the song with the copyright holder.
I can only speak for the Latin dances because those are the ones that interest me the most. The musical selections by the producers have been HORRENDOUS (to use your word) over the past 5 years. They’ve proven time and again they know little if anything about “real Latin music”. Every once in a blue moon they get it right, but for the most part they don’t. They ought to let the musicians select the pieces. After all, that’s what they do so well, NO? Look at this list for Mambo dances: Get Busy, Bop To The Top, Jump, Annie I’m Not Your Daddy, Right Now, Independent Woman, Pump It, etc. etc. etc. This music was not made for Latin dances. PURE GARBAGE. There’s a plethora of Latin music available (over 50 years worth) to choose from, regardless of copyright issues. Do I want the dancers to have more control over what they can dance to? ABSOLUTELY. I’ve even gone as far as mailing them numerous CDs for consideration. What they do with it will remain to be seen.
I think you incorrectly assume the pros have nothing to do with poor song choices and that the celebs would know an appropriate Latin song if it bit them in the ass. The pros HAVE been somewhat involved – why would anyone ever believe that non-dancing celebs would do better? That makes no sense.
I also don’t believe they are trying for “traditional” Latin songs most of the time either. – the music brings a current feel and makes it more relatable to the audience. Sometimes it works (team gaga) and sometimes
It doesn’t. But how much of that is the fault of the choreographer?? If all they ever used were traditional ballroom instrumentals, it would get boring and fast. At the end of the day, it’s still a tv show. Giving the celebs the power will likely be worse, not better.
Heidi: I have a friend who’s father is directly involved with Harold Wheeler and the orchestra. I prints the sheet music after all the songs have been selected, and hands them over to the band. He says the band (and the pros) have little control over what they’re given to dance to. I say the MUSICIANS should have a greater say in the musical selections. They know the music, the know the different genres, and they know what will FIT and what won’t. As a dancer, I “throw up” every time I have to hear one of these non-Latin songs that are played so they’ll be “relatable to the audience”. Go to any Salsa Club in the country and take a good look at the crowd masses. Do you think they care what’s being said in the lyrics? They could care less because it’s the Rhythm that carries them… not the lyrics.
Yes, in the end it is still a TV show, but it would be a far better one if it corrected these discrepancies. 9 million viewers watched Mira Quien Baila (Univision’s version of DWTS) because they were able to get the music right. That’s a sizable audience that DWTS producers are ignoring. It doesn’t have to be that way. It could be a win/win situation for ABC and the viewer if the producers were open-minded.
Sorry Albie, but I think I’ll take what the pros themselves say over your friend’s father. There are hours of video tape that contradict your rather narrow view of how it all goes down. Cheryl, Derek, mark and others are on record saying how they submit requests to get songs cleared – the clearing they have no say over, but they are far from powerless. There is video taken by Derek from a couple of seasons ago of Cheryl listening to songs on a laptop and saying “that’s fine” to the producer holding it – she’s picking one song over another. Mark was all over twitter rejoicing over a rather obscure song that he wanted getting cleared just last season. His partner Chealsea was likewise happy when a a song she asked for (disastrous choice, btw) was cleared. You’ll just have to accept that I won’t be taking your word for it.
Heidi: Okie Dokie…. I’ll have to let it go at that. A wise person was quoted as saying, “We can agree to disagree, agreeably.”
All differences aside, let’s look forward to a great Season 13.
