DWTS Cheryl Burke, Peta Murgatroyd, Damian Whitewood, And Chelsie Hightower Tower Attend The 2011 WWE Summer Slam To Combat Bullying (Videos & Photos)
Thursday night, Cheryl Burke, Peta Murgatroyd, Damian Whitewood, and Chelsie Hightower Tower attended the “Be a STAR” (“show tolerance and respect”) Anti-Bullying and WWE SummerSlam VIP Kick-Off Party Event at the Andaz Hotel in Los Angeles, Ca. They and the wrestlers were on a mission to combat bullying among kids. They wanted to send the message that bullying “is not acceptable whether physical or electronic” and isn’t that the truth! Here the four are on the Red Carpet. Peta, Damian, and Cheryl don’t say much. They give face, hair, and legs for a great cause. 🙂 But, note how Chelsie chats it up a little on Dancing With The Stars. She mentions that she doesn’t know who her partner is on Dancing With The Stars yet, but, she will come the end of August.
Below are some pictures too from Zimbio.com of Cheryl and Chelsie;
No matter who is your favorite pro, one thing we can all agree on is the generosity they all share in giving their time toward causes that mean so much to everyone….. Bullying is not acceptable…
Aw shucks, I thought I might hear yummy Damians aussie accent… No such luck!!! Peta and Damian are beautiful together.
Someone asked Chelsie on Twitter several weeks ago if she was going to be on DWTS this season, and she responded with a very enthusiastic “Yes!” I’m starting to wonder if what others have been saying on here are true, that there are some “principals” and then “others.” ABC certainly knows who the draws are, and I’m sure they bend over backwards to accommodate them, i.e. with Maks being somewhat on the fence about S13 at the end of last season, but then a few weeks later after talking to the producers, he’s all in.
At this point, my thoughts/opinion would be that the “principals” are: Maks, Derek, Cheryl and Cheslie. Everyone else – Anna, Lacey, Louis, Dmitry, etc. – seem to have to play the waiting game before each season, which is a tad bit unfair. Don’t get me wrong, I like all the so-called principals, but I feel like I’ve seen all of Chery’s and Maks’s moves before. There really isn’t anyone I’ve mentioned in this post that I would completely miss from S13, except for Derek (he’s already been out a season), and there are a couple that I’m hoping do sit out a season (Mark, Lacey) just because I’m sort of over them, their choreography, attitude, costuming, etc.
I’m still holding out hope for a new pro or two or perhaps bringing back a familiar face (Damian) to give some freshness to the show. I don’t think it would hurt viewership or fan devotion. If anything, it might bring some new fans in or some old ones back.
Magnolia, that’s the nature of show business – the producers are going to want the popular pros on the show. Having said that, I really feel that it works a bit differently. I think that when they are trying to get someone to do the show, if they want them badly enough they will give what they have to to get them to sign. If someone good agrees to do the show if they can have Derek, what do you think the producers are going to say? We know that Nicole specifically asked for Derek. We are somewhat sure that Jennifer did as well. I would guess that Cheryl and maks also get a lot of requests. So, it popularity, but in a different way than how you’re looking at it.
I don’t know if that’s what’s going on, or if there are principles – either way, that’s show biz. Look at it this way – the more successful they are, the more likely they are to move on, opening up a spot or two for new blood. Derek may be back, but for how long? Maks already tried to sit a season out, who’s to say he won’t sit the next one out? Those two are the ones I think we are closest to losing – Derek may think he can continue to jump back and forth, but I don’t think he can, and maks is a very successful businessman who is getting older. He may be ready to focus elsewhere. I think new blood will get a shot and soon.
Heidi, you’re absolutely right. I remember the season with Erin Andrews when she first met Maks, she was stunned, and said something like, “I asked for Tony.” So yeah, I absolutely believe that celebs ask for specific partners, I know I would!
To be honest, I’m surprised Tony is still around. As much as I like him and watching him dance, he’s gotten the short end of the stick as far as partners go quite often. And he’s also getting older and starting to branch out a bit. With his golf show, I wondered if he would even be back. I still wonder about Louis for S13 with his LaBlast expanding so much. So, who knows? It’s probably a combination of what you’re saying and my thoughts, but it’s not like ABC will ever definitively say so.
My hope for the “new blood” is that they’re introduced to us beforehand and viewers are given a chance to get to know them a bit. I don’t feel that some pros that were only around for one season (Fabian, Anna D.) got a fair shake. When the troupe was brought on last season, that was my immediate first thought: these folks are the “future” pros, but the longer the season went on, the less I thought that. Some of them (okay, really just two of them) were great, and I could see them being pros. The others…not so much. I just hope that any new pro that’s brought in is given a chance to really build a connection with the viewers and audience. If our “regular” pros hadn’t done that, we wouldn’t love them as much, would we? 😉
Tony has had plenty of good partners over the years as well – his problem is that people only remember the train wrecks and forget the Stacy kieblers, audrinas, marissas and janes of the competition…and,as usual, I am forgetting some good ones. Melissa!! That’s one. 🙂
Actually erin saying Tony was a joke. Erin said in an interview she asked for Maks. The show said no and said he would be tough on her and suggested and strongly urged her to Have Tony. She said no and asked for Maks. While for Kate, who the show wanted, asked for another pro but the producers said he would be too weak or something for her so they gave her Tony. I think in the end, this is a tv show. They go for big names, try to accommodate as well as go for best tv. I am sure the show thought Debi Mazar with Make could be explosive. Oh yeah, and both Wayne and Tom Delay asked for Cheryl too.
The show wanted Priscilla and she specifically asked for Louis. We know Kelly asked to be switched from Mark. The list goes on. I know some conspiracy theorists think the show just gives certain pros good partners and others bad ones, but I do not. The show just cares about ratings first.
@Heidi, I completely forgot about Marissa, so thanks for the reminder. The only “good ones” of Tony’s I remember are Stacy and Audrina. I’d love to see him win one of these days, though.
@Melissa, I didn’t know that about Erin. My bad! Yeah, I often wonder if they pair people together, hoping for the drama. I wonder if Kirstie asked for Maks or if the producers thought they’d make for good drama. Turns out, they didn’t!
I couldn’t agree more with you, Melissa
Bring some fresh dancers back for S13. Damian Whitewood & Peta Murgatroyd are truely wonderful dancers with sooo much class. Bring em back i say!
