A Few More Bits And Pieces On The New Dancing With The Stars Stage And New Ballroom Battle Segment

First, just a few more details on the new stage for Dancing With The Stars. Last week, we reported the new set will have new amphitheater-style seating to make room for another level of seats. It will also have a more prominent spot for the orchestra with staircases will that will move about. Today TMZ is reporting that the new changes cost $3 Million dollars. Below are some more details TMZ revealed.

…the COOLEST change will affect the audience … because producers are swapping out the boring bleacher seats for a TRIPLE-TIERED balcony-styled arrangement … kinda like where the old grumpy guys sit on “The Muppets.”

Another cool change — the massive staircase in the middle of the stage will have the ability to SPLIT into TWO halves … which will reveal the orchestra pit.

As for the dance floor … which was basically hardwood planks placed on the ground … it will NOW be an elevated PLATFORM … so if the stars fall over the edge, it could REALLY hurt.

As for the new segment “Ballroom Battle”, according to Louis at twitter, everything has been pretaped. They did some final tapings this past weekend in L.A.. We won’t see the new segment until October (“about week 6“) and it will last three weeks. On week 9, the top three will dance LIVE and the audience will be able to vote.
