DWTS Season 13 – Who’s Dancing With Who??
Okay, I do this every season and as most of you know, I’m really bad at it. 
I used to be good, but my track record lately leaves a lot to be desired. Remember, in most cases these are just guesses.
Of course, I’d like to thank Hope Solo for making my job easier. Also, TMZ for busting David Arquette outside what appeared to be 3rd Street Dance along with Kym Johnson. You had to know they weren’t going to use the DWTS rehearsal facility yet. I also confess that I am pretty sure on Mark’s and Tristan’s partner due to…stuff. So where does the guessing come in?? Well, there’s still a lot of turf to cover.
So, here’s my stab at it. We find out on Wednesday just how badly I suck. After this, I’m going to bed. I think I’ve had too much wine.

The above choices for Mark and Derek should probably to be switched. I still think Ricki fits Mark better and Kristin fits Derek better. I hope there is a switch at the last minute and I like to dream. lol
I’m liking your choices, Vogue, for the most part. But my girl Anna with that big tall man?? Nooooo! *LOL* I would change Anna with Peta.
As for the guys, I like Ricki better with Mark as well and Derek with Kristin. And I SO hope that Chynna is a happy, fun person! Tony’s had such a shitty ride the last few seasons with his partners.
Unless TPTB have really been smokin’ the wacky tobacky this season, I think we can safely bet that Lacey will be paired with Chaz & Peta with Ron based solely on height needs. David & Hope already spilled the beans, so that takes care of Kym & Maks. For reasons unmentionable, I agree that Kristen will probably get Mark & Nancy will probably get Tristan. That leaves 3 guys & 2 girls still up for grabs. I get the feeling all of Karina’s gushing about wanting Rob as a partner means she is probably gonna get him. The two remaining pro ladies are a complete toss-up for me. I could see either one with either JR or Carson, but I have a feeling Anna will get Carson & Cheryl will get JR. As for Val & Derek – I think Ricki probably has enough clout to request a specific partner, and since she hasn’t yet seen what Val can do yet, I’m guessing she’d probably request Derek. Not saying she DID request him – but if she did, I think TPTB would probably honor it. So that leaves Derek w/Ricki & Val w/Elisabetta. Overall, I’m kinda happy with the cast & excited about some of these pairings
Both Ricki Lake and David Arquette will be on GMA tomorrow – per Tom. I wonder if we’ll also see their professional partners on the show.

I just read Karina’s tweets and she said she was on “cloud 9″….she went on record saying she wanted Rob….maybe her prayers were answered lol.

I’m surprised you guys are pairing Tony and Chynna. Chynna seems to me like she’d actually care to do good. Elizabetta does not, and with Tony’s history of getting crap partners, I would pair the two of them together. Not that I want him to get her! It’s about time he gets better partners!
I don’t see Lacey and Chaz as a good pair, height notwithstanding. There’s just no sympatico there; Lacey is a flamboyant diva, and – let’s face it – Chaz is a shy, retiring straight guy! He needs someone a bit less outrageous to not overwhelm his personality; I think they can go up the one inch and either Cheryl or Anna would be much better for him.
Lacey and *Carson* however, personality-wise, would be the much more inspired pairing.
But if Tony is with Elisabetta instead of Val there wouldn’t be showmance rumors LOL!!! Derek & Kristin and Val & Elisabetta can fuel those. For the record, someone on abc.com board said Mark was “very happy” with whom he was paired with….translation he thinks she moved very well already lol.

I pretty much agree with Heidi’s choices. I would switch Cheryl and Peta though. Cheryl usally gets athletes and she has partnered the only other NBA player in the shows history: Rick Fox.
I would say Derek gets Kristin and Mark gets Ricki based on height! Wouldn’t they give Derek a person who can possibly move very well, plus Kristin and Derek are about the same age. She most likely can keep up with him and you can be sure one way or another they will bring the house down!
I’m still thinking Karina and JR Martinez, because Karina said she was “inspired” in the same tweet where she said she was on cloud 9. I think JR would provide more inspiration than Rob.
I am guessing at this and saying that Anna is getting Carson. Kinda hoping that Tristan isn’t the first to go this season. Really hope Nancy will surprise America and lasts a while (or at least past week one lol).
@MARGARET : Ricki did broadway, hairspray, has a great personality, and had one of the most sucessfl talk shows of all time. If Derek is paired with her that pair would totally bring the house down.

Oh Laura, do I have to list for you the good partners Tony has had?? I am so tired of hearing “poor Tony” (Stacey Keibler, Melissa Rycroft, Marissa Winokur, Audrina Patridge, the list goes on), or poor Maks (Mel B, Brandy, Kirsti, Misty May, the list goes on).

Margaret, they have never given Derek any one close to his own age, I don’t think they’ll start now. But I’ll be happy either way. I also think you’re discounting Ricki – at least she has stage experience in front of a live audience. That should help.
Okay, you’re right! Well I guess everyone knows who their partner is by now!
But why are they waiting until tomorrow to announce the pairings? Another day of waiting unless you guys get more official announcements!
I can see that it is desperately needed, Meggie!! The revisionist history bugs me every single season, with “poor Tony” and “poor Maks” when the reality is they’ve had plenty of great partners, they’ve just never made it over the finish line. It’s like that’s the only thing that counts. Hell, Maks will come close to passing Derek on a points basis if he lands in the final again! He’s been in the final four the last three seasons has he not?? And now he has Hope Solo? I weep for him.
Well, no, we don’t actually know all of them – and Derek is one we’re not sure of. But since we’re fairly sure to certain on the rest of the female celebs, it gets Derek to Kristin or Ricki by process of elimination. And based on something else I heard, I think it more likely that Mark has Kristin.
I can already tell I’m going to have a lot of trouble typing “Kristin” and not Kristi or Kirstie. :::sigh:::
I really haven’t heard any “poor” Max comments..He’s always had good partners for the most part…there were a few that had two left feet. Denise Richardson comes to mind. However, Tony has had to deal with some doozies. So has Louis…and let us not forget Mark who had to teach Bristol Palin. I never will forget their appearance on GMA, with Mark counting while they danced. I’m sure all the pros have had their share of challenges. That’s what makes this show so much fun. And this site is , too.. Here’s to a great season, and much animated discussion.
I really enjoyed Mak last season, we saw a different side to his personality. But correct me if I am wrong, he never accepted it when Brandy was voted off remember, all he kept saying was “she could have won”, never really gives Derek and his partner any credit for being great or exceptional. Remember his comments when Jennifer said “he (Derek) would make an amazing Johnny Castle”. Sorry as good as Maks is he is just jealous of Derek and always will be!
Eh, Derek and Maks are actually good friends. I don’t know that Maks is jealous so much as completely unable to be supportive at the expense of being blunt. And I think Maks’ fans have, for the most part, wised up and have stopped the whining. I’m just thinking back a couple seasons. The man has had a couple ringers in his day. Tony has too – but people tend to remember the train wrecks. And don’t get me started on Mark with his two very popular Olympians or the youngsters such as Chelsea (and now Kristin??).
Yeah, they’ve all had challenges – in some cases (Derek and Jennifer) it brings out the best in them. What I get tired of hearing is how some “never get good partners”. Please. They’ve all had good partners. I WOULD like to see, just once, what Derek would do with an athlete or someone his own age.
Indeed, so Heidi why don’t they change things up a bit?
Well sam, as much as you may see a potential lack of chemistry between Lacey & Chaz, the bottom line is simply that height is often the most important factor TPTB take into account when pairing up pros & celebs – Mark said it himself the other day. And I’m afraid that Chaz is so short that any partner other than Lacey could result in an extremely awkward height difference, making it harder to dance. And Gitte, the same is true of Ron – I doubt they’d put Cheryl through another season with an extreme height difference again, no matter how often she gets athletes for partners. The only female pro who hasn’t already been paired up that could easily partner Ron is Peta. Yes, chemistry with one’s partner is important; but for me, chemistry ain’t gonna mean a thing if one looks awkward dancing with a partner that is 2 heads taller than them!
I have to say, I already like Nancy more than I thought I would – her comment about being easier to report on the news vs. being on the news, was pretty funny.
And once again, I’m pretty excited about this cast of characters. My hat is off to each and every one of them.

Touche Heidi. I normally put at the end of my comments that I’m a new watcher, and no expert. Should have this time as well. I will say tho, Audrina could dance, but she had no personality (imo). I have yet to watch before Season 11, but I plan on getting Hulu Plus very shortly for that very reason of watching old seasons (obsessed!) I would have done it sooner if I’d had the time. I really wish they had all the seasons tho. Also, can we say poor Cheryl if they stick her with Ron? With a lot of people being close in height, TPTB can typecast the partners, but if you’re gonna have someone that’s so stinkin’ tall, give him to the tallest pro! That being said, I do like the Kym and David pairing

I’m surprised that Derek is 5:10″. I’ve read so many comments about him not being able to be a leading man in movies because of his height, so I thought he was really short. 5’10″ isn’t really short for a guy – it hasn’t stopped Tom Cruise, Dustin Hoffman and others from becoming leading men.
Depending on how Hope Solo actually dances, we may in fact have to say “poor Maks” this season!
Oh come on Heidi, please don’t start on this “poor Derek” spiel, as he has been nothing but good partners. Every partner he’s had been in shape, mobile, and limber. That’s makes a world of difference! And his last three had dance training, and two were his age (five years is nothing). If he gets Ricki Lake, the it will be his last four with prior experience. Who knows if she’s any good? I suspect she isn’t bad.
I’ve often defended, because he’s extremely talented and an excellent teacher, no denying it. But how can honestly say objectively that he hasn’t been fortunate with the partners he’s had? And no, I’m not going start comparing him to every other pro. Derek is a much better choreographer than Maks, Tony and Mark. A testament to his talent, but the fact remains he’s never had to deal with a Nancy Grace or Kate Gosselin.
I am the last one that usually jumps to Derek’s defence, um… ColonelPops. BUT, he had to dance with Joanna Krupa who, I know, a lot of people think was a darling, but I’m willing to bet that behind the scenes she was quite the snotty, recalcitrant diva. Derek has had his share of challenges.
And we don’t know how Nancy Grace is going to be, do we?
And NO ONE but Tony has had to deal with a Kate Gosselin type.
Every pro has had their challenges, men and women, and every pro could be given the moniker of ‘poor’ at some point.
Who was saying “poor Derek”??? Me thinks you’re projecting, sweetheart. I would like to see him with an athlete or someone his age or younger. Period. How that equates to saying “poor Derek” I have no idea. But thanks for spouting the same old tired arguments and revisionist history.

None have been his age, all have been at least 6 or 7 years older than him. His last partner was more than twice his age and had freakin’ screws in her neck. Except for Nicole and Joanna, his other partners were ten year or more older than him.

Seriously, he’s average height for actors in Hollywood. Honestly, he seems like he’s gotten taller in the last year or so which seems weird for a 25-26 year old.
ETA: I meant to add I agree about Maks. I’m not so sure Hope’s going to be all that. We’ll have to see.
Yeah, Evaine, I am mystified by the Joanna love around here. All you have to do is follow her on Twitter to see she’s not always a bundle of joy. I also think that as much as Derek loved Nicole (and he did mention her as his favorite when I saw him a couple months ago), she was probably the most difficult because they HAD to be good, plus she put so much pressure on herself.
And then there’s Shannon. Oh dear. Jennie?? Bundle of insecurity. Lil’ Kim? Prison and a severe height challenge. Jennifer? She could only be paralyzed if he dropped her. No biggie.
Point is – NONE of them have it easy regardless. There are always issues of one kind or another.
LOL, Meggie. I get the feeling that between you and Evaine, we’re never going to hear the end of that one. I love it.
Elisabetta may or may not be a ringer, I don’t know that, however, she may have some strikes against her already, she is unfamiliar to most, has a strong accent, and if she is paired with a new unfamiliar pro then I wouldn’t be surprised if she is an early elimination.
I have to agree, Heidi, I don’t think Maks is going to have it easy this season by any means. I think my boy is looking for challenges. Kirstie was a helluva challenge and Hope will be too. She’s got the athleticism, the drive, the work ethic, the flexibility… but as she says herself, the rhythm is lacking. Can Maks teach her how to dance? I think he can if she just learns to trust him.
And as for the ‘ringer’ this season, I’m picking JR. His backstory is worth a TON of ability and I’ll bet the fans flock to him like flies. He just needs to be able to dance a little, and I think he has that covered.

Ricki said , “He’s the best!” and gave a cute look to the camera….she requested him and got him……I’ll go with Derek. Karina probably might have J.R. because of the “inspired” comment. As far as Elisabetta being the “ringer”….a ringer to me is dance ability, like factor(ability to draw the average viewer with no pro or celeb fave to begin with), and established fan base–Elisabetta would need all that.
I think that Maks would be surprised at how much of a challenge someone like Nicole can be – if you have someone who can dance, you best pull out your best choreo or you’ll get hammered. How many times did we hear the female pros get yelled at for not making the most of their celebrities? I think even Maks got yelled at once or twice not just for props, but for the props taking away dancing time from someone who could actually dance. I think it was Erin.
Hope? I think he just has the hots for her.
As I will hopefully soon post, there are two kinds of ringers with differing level of ringiness.
There’s someone with a huge fanbase or those with actual dance EXPERIENCE…not ability. Brooke and Gilles had ability, but they sure were NOT ringers. Hindsight is 20/20 – a ringer is someone who you think has a shot of winning based on either fanbase or experience before the show starts. Since no one auditions for this show, it’s pretty ridiculous to point at someone like Brooke and call her a ringer just because she won. Same with Gilles….and Helio…and probably others that I’m not remembering right now.
I just saw somewhere that someone got a good source and posted some pairings and I was surprised a little. They didn’t reveal the source so I’d take this with a grain of salt but they even said Kym would dance with Carson, not David. I know TMZ said David is supposed to dance with Kym and that might be true so I don’t know. Also, they said Chaz was going to dance with Karina and Lacey with David. Personally, I would prefer Lacey with David because David seem pretty upbeat and a little crazy, maybe and Lacey can be crazy too lol. Chaz just wouldn’t work with Lacey, I don’t think and I’d be surprise if this is correct. Like someone said, their personalities are just too different and shouldn’t the man be taller than the woman? He’s shorter than she is. I see Carson pretty fit with Kym because Kym has a lot of gay friends and get along with them very well. Kym and Lance Bass interacted a lot off the show during season 7, dancing and stuff and Carson seem like the fun kind of guy with all smiles and everything. I’m ok with David dancing with Kym but if Carson dances with her, I’d prefer that. We’ll see!
Just for the record, I don’t believe Elisabetta is a “ringer”. In #42, I was quoting someone else who thought Derek would get her because she was “ringer”. You know cuz Derek always gets the ringers. LOL

To be honest, any of the celebs who are actors and actresses, have probably had some dance training..I hardly think you could say Jennifer Grey didn’t have any. Ditto for the ice skaters and gymnasts. They do have some dance training…it’s part of their routines. There’s probably no way to completely level the playing field. Some of the stars are going to have an advantage. Some are going to tap into abilities they didn’t know they possessed…I’m thinking Hines Ward here. Being an athlete probably helps with timing and agility. That train of thought will convince everyone that Maks has the ringer this time. C’mon folks, who cares. We’re just supposed to watch and enjoy.
@Liz, if you look at the list of pros, there is no one shorter than Chaz. He’ll have to give up some height, and with Lacey, it’s the least amount. I’ve also said before (and I think Courtney has, too) – remember that Lacey enjoys dancing barefoot. IIRC, she did so with Lance Bass. If you put the pro in 3″ heels (isn’t that what they normally wear?), then any height difference becomes exaggerated.
All of that said, I think Heidi’s pairings are spot-on.
Hope’s agent and Tony are following each other on twitter, is it possible he is her actual partner and everyone just assumed Maks?
Then uh-oh for Tony lol…..Chynna seems like a better partner for him.

bluek, I’ve had a similar thought about the possibility that Hope might actually be partnered with Val (that somehow Maks wanted Val to have someone he thought would be great). Of course I don’t know anything and have no inside scoop whatsoever and think probably it is as it seems, but still, wouldn’t they have pulled off a good joke if she actually were partnered with someone other than Maks?
Well, since they all have met by now and mingled at the cast party, many of them exchange numbers and twitter acct info.
Hope & Maks pics are on Maks facebook page, sorta together. And I don’t think Hope would take a chance like this except with Maks as her pro.
I don’t see it in the comments yet, maybe I missed it – but @DWTSGossip posted a tweet to someone confirming Chaz/Lacey, Cheryl/Rob, Karina/JR. And I saw on Twitter someone said Kristin slipped and told Extra she’s with Mark, but I haven’t seen it myself. I’m thinking your list might be spot-on or darn close!
Yes, I saw that (Kristin does acknowledge Extra reporter’s comments that she knows Mark is her partner—the reporter and Mark follow each other on twitter and he recent hung out with her surrounding an interview for his music cd).

DEREK HOUGH could be paired up with Miss Piggy and they would call her a ringer… even though she’s a frickin’ puppet!!
So fucking stop the hate, this guy is the MOST amazing, fantastic, humble and creative person i know. He knows how to encourage his partner to perfection and how to choreograph rutines that are just mind blowing and can make the “star” shines.
Yes Maks hasn’t won but is because people don’t vote for him, as simple as that! Not because Derek has the best partner for crying out loud!!! STOP saying dumb things! Don’t blame Derek that Maks or Mark or other pro didn’t won blame it to the couple that maybe they don’t have the best chemistry or the votes.
Even the professional dancers and I’m not talking about Len Goodman or Cheryl Burke, I’m talking about proffesional judges and dancers who you don’t even know they exist until you are in the ballroom world knows and says that DEREK is the best male dancer right now.

And to all of the haters, You really cannot appreciate what an AMAZING JOB he’s done on the show and with his partners! He know their strengths to perfection! And i think that you are just simply jealous of this guy which if you see him live and spend some time with him and dance with him even for 1 minute you can tell he’s brilliant and he DESERVES EVERY little or big thing thats he gets and the best part is that he don’t brag at all!

I hope you are right!! Perfect pairings! Chaz and Lacey will look weird, but it would be even more akwardwith somone else. Go Hope and JR!!! It’s time for Maks to win an MBT, and JR was a veteran, so I’m gonna vote for him even if he gets ones.
Wow there’s a lot of hate regarding fans of pros. I like all of the pros, especially Derek and Mark. That being said, those two are not only the most creative but the most lucky when it come to partners. Maks has always been one of the best actual dancers but compared to mark and derek hsnt gotten the love partner wise. Course were talking abt tge top 3 so ever other pro would love to get his. Scraps. Anyways, I’m happy with the pairings I’m seeing. And I really think hope and elisabeta are the most athletic. Message sent from my blackberry……god help me.

Those were all either good dancers or very popular. Just because he hasn’t won doesn’t mean he hasn’t gotten good partners – that’s just silly. It just means he hasn’t won. You wanna talk about someone who hasn’t gotten the love? Talk to Jonathan. His only good partner was Marie Osmond. Man, I am tired of this kind of comment. Engage your brains, people, please!
I forgot to mention when I saw it earlier – take it down a notch, Sarah. Believe it or not a lot of us agree with your basic points.
I’m pleased with the pairings. I’m really excited about a couyple of the pairings. It was nice to see Anna and Carson on GMA. I don’t know much about him, but it looks like they will be a fun pair.
Pricess Heidi…nice to meet you. Just my opinion buy Kirstey Alley as an obese 60 year old was never a great catch. I thought she was awesome and he handled her well though. Misty MAy was tall and large also. She may have been an olympian but def. Didn’t resemble a dancer even when dancing.
