DWTS Season 13 Stats: Pre Season Elimination Predictions

UPDATE: I have changed Elisabetta’s occupation from Model to Actress… note how this changes the rankings.

Hello All! Marianya here… as always every season I try to predict via a series of really complex calculations, statistics, analysis and sometimes gut instinct who will be eliminated, when through the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars. Sometimes I’m right on point, other times I’m way off base.

Since we won’t officially know celebrity/professional partner pairings until tomorrow (Wednesday) I figure let’s see how the celebrities stand at the moment.

Now if you recall from previous season I use three main factors in calculating placement for the celebrities:
1) Age – probably not too surprising, age plays a role in how a celebrity does on the dance floor. On average the younger celebrities do far better than their elders. Once in a while this may not be the case… for example those in their Teens, 20s, and 30s dominate the placements, but instead of being followed by celebs in their 40s, it is the celebs in their 60s that do well followed by 40s, 70s, 50s and finally 80s.
2) Occupation – believe it or not, what the celeb is primarily known for (aka their primary occupation) plays a factor in their dancing capability. It is a known belief that athletes tend fare far better than comedians, actors/actresses, reality stars, etc… But I break the fields down even further to Olympians, those from the NBA or NFL, boxers and any other athletes that do not fit any of the previous categories. I also separate Actor from Actress, Reality TV Stars get their own category.
3) Professional Partner – this is theoretically suppose to reflect the varying teaching styles of the professional dancers. Granted with a poor student a professional dancer’s teaching style could only go so far, but I think considering all the other varying circumstances of the other categories, this would also be a prime factor to account for.

I will include my own opinion on the matter… but the ranking system is all mathematically based… granted how I break the celebs down is primarily subjective and as thus comments are more than welcome if you believe that there is a better way to describe a particular celebrity.

My life can be summed up in the following two quotes: 1) "I am married to engineering and am its faithful wife by day, but at night my wanderlust takes hold and the arts becomes my jealous paramour." and... 2) "Engineering is my safety net. Writing is my passion. Acting is my escape when the other two become too much." So where does dancing fit in? Pretty much anywhere at this point... =)

Las Vegas Odds to Win Dancing With The Stars Season 13 And DWTS Homage

Would you believe the people in Vegas are already placing their bets and without even knowing who their partners are yet? Gambling911 is putting Elisabetta, Carson, and Kristin in the top three. More below. It will fun to see how the odds change in the coming weeks and compare it to this one.

Elisabetta Canalis 3/1

Carson Kressley 4/1

Kristin Cavallari 5/1

Chynna Phillips 6/1

Robert Kardashian 15/2

Hope Solo 8/1

David Arquette 10/1

Ron Artest 10/1

J.R. Martinez 12/1

Ricki Lake 15/1

Nancy Grace 18/1

Chaz Bono 20/1

Heidi’s Note: For a little perspective on these odds, take a look at the odds from the same time frame last season. Illuminating.

With that said, here is a little Dancing With The Stars Season 13 Homage to go with this post written by Linde….

It appears I may have started a tradition back in Season 11 with my ditty to the tune of I NEED A NEW DRUG, then last season – with help from Evaine & Zach with our WAX ON WAX OFF roundup. Well, ya’ll know how much we love our traditions down here in the South, so here’s my homage to Season 13:

Monday Monday, Ricki’s thrilled it’s here
Monday Monday, it was all Hope dreamt it would be
And Monday morning, Monday morning couldn’t guarantee
that Monday evening Rob wouldn’t be a dancin’ freak

Monday Monday, Chynna’s favorite day
Monday Monday, sometimes Ron’s feet get in his way
Oh Monday morning, Dave gave us no warning of what was to be
Oh Monday Monday, how could Chaz dance and not be freed

Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
you’ll find Elisabetta is dancin’ with style

Monday Monday, JR’s glad he’s here
Monday Monday, it was all that Carson feared it to be
And Monday morning, Monday morning couldn’t really foresee
that Monday evening it’s Nancy’s night, with us on our feet

Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
you’ll find that Kristin is dancin’ live

Monday, Monday ….
such a lovely day

DWTS 13 J.R. Martinez Could Make A Difference To Soldiers And War Veterans, Not To Mention Dance Fans

J.R. Martinez may be an unfamiliar face to many of us especially if you’ve never seen him on “All My Children” like myself, but, his turn on Dancing With The Stars “could make a difference to soldiers and war veterans, not to mention dance fans” according to the LA Times. Just how serious could JR’s role play on the show and help those who have suffered from catastrophic burns and who have went through numerous cosmetic and skin graft surgeries? The LA Times explores this question while interviewing some doctors on it. Here’s a take…

“No question about it,” said Dr. Timothy Miller, executive director of Operation Mend, a partnership among the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, and the V.A.-Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System that treats U.S. military members who have been seriously wounded while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. “He’s got some scars, but I’m sure he looks better than he did. I can’t speak for him, but I’m willing to say he’s more pleased or happier now than before his reconstruction.”

Miller says he’s seen spirits lifted among patients treated via Operation Mend: “Sometimes we’re averaging six to eight operations on someone, and some go to 15,” he says. “They can extend over a year and a half. I can tell you without hesitation that their mood is definitely improved [as reconstructive surgeries improve their wounds]. They are much more outgoing and much happier.”

Having a solid support system is critical to helping patients through tough times, he adds. “So many people have very strong families that are very dedicated — that’s the most important thing, I think.” Fellow patients help each other as well, as Martinez has done for his fellow soldiers. “I know there’s a certain understanding and special feeling among people who have had serious injuries. They want to be helpful — it’s a natural thing.”

Can I just say I am so loving this guy!!

DWTS 13 More Press Conference Interviews After The Cast Announcement (Videos)

After the ABC Dancing With The Stars Cast Announcement last night during The Bachelor, the show held a press conference. On The Red Carpet was there to meet and talk a little with all of the celebrity contestants. George Pennacchio from ABC 7 in L.A. gets deep with them with some awesome questions one being a hint to who their partners are. Here are a few videos below with small commentaries, but, for all of the interviews, be sure to visit this link.

Here’s Nancy talking about how excited she is to just really have “fun” and let her hair down so to speak. She plans to give some of her show earnings to a children’s charity. She wants to “put her money where her mouth is”. She talks of the stiff competition….but, she plans to bring her twins to L.A. and show her long heart. George asks her on her partner. She said he’s handsome, but, when the music starts, it’s like someone sprinkled magic on him and he makes a complete transformation (Hello Tristan! 🙂 ).

Below is Ricki Lake! She’s excited and talks of how she was in the audience last year. The journey with Kirstie last year helped her to decide to do the show. She’s also dancing for a hospice society. On her partner, she said, “He’s the best”. She asked for him and was so glad she got him. (Could this be Derek? I would say so! 🙂 )

Chaz Bono says he’s already learned something on himself just by saying “yes”. He’s looking forward to the physical challenge as well as savoring the whole journey. On his partner, he said she’s perfect for him. She knows how to get inside of him and how to be positive and fun. He plans to focus on the task at hand and not let any negativity or pressure get to him. (Lacey anyone?)

Access Hollywood also has some cool interviews with the contestants that you can watch as well HERE. PopTV.com was there to interview them on the way to their cars, etc. See their coverage at this link.

Adding: Here is a fun gallery of pics as well of some of them (along with Maks and Derek) at a Party.

Wow, this cast spells diversity, thinking out of the box, old hollywood, grace, giving, and beauty(in and out!) to me! I think we are ‘all’ going on a “journey” with this one and not just the celebrities and their partners. Hmm? Please take an hour or so out of your day and watch everything and Heidi’s GMA and Press Conference post too. They are must sees!

Ricki And David on GMA!!

Both are very funny and engaging.  Both are learning the Viennese Waltz. Ricki said she didn’t come to place second (and David pointed at her and said “she’s going to be tough”) and she usually gets what she wants. Wonder if she wanted Derek? Anyway, I liked both of them. The showed Chaz talking about his mom, Elizabetta got asked about George and jokingly not thrilled about it. Nearly the whole cast called David the front runner mainly because he’s not the least bit afraid to get out there and DO it.  They may be right.  I’m hoping someone will put GMA up on YouTube and I can add it later. Until then, here are a few videos from ABC of a few of the cast members.

Here are the GMA interviews with the cast lastnight and Ricki and David this morning;

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)
