Dancing With The Stars Season 13 Las Vegas Odds After The First Dance
My, how the odds can change after that first dance on Dancing With The Stars and it’s true for this Season as well….just like many of you predicted in our last odds post. 🙂 . SportsBoDog has Hope and J.R. tied in the number spot with Chynna and David tied in the second spot. I think they are under estimating Nancy Grace and Chaz Bono’s ability to dance and work an audience, do you? I also think they have Kristin too high and Ricki not high enough. More below…
Hope Solo 3/1
J.R. Martinez 3/1
Chynna Phillips 11/2
David Arquette 11/2
Kristin Cavallari 7/1
Carson Kressley 15/2
Ricki Lake 10/1
Elisabetta Canalis 12/1
Chaz Bono 15/1
Robert Kardashian 15/1
Nancy Grace 50/1
We can’t wait to hear your thoughts as always!
Thanks Vogue! I was wondering about the odds this week. What a difference. I agree with you that they are sure underestimating Ricki. What is the deal with that? Am I missing something? Are the people who are placing these odds not like Ricki? She had one of the better performances and the audience seemed to have loved her. Anyways, I also feel they really over estimated Kristin and to some degree Chynna. Though Chynna was better than Kristin performance wise, I feel they will be lost in the woodwork. Both remind me of Audrina. Will see how the weeks go if I am proven wrong. David odds seem to be okay. I can see him place in top 4 or 5. Finals? Not so sure. They definitely placed Hope and JR about as what I expected. Hope because of popularity/fan base and JR due to his whole package and better dancing.
too low for nancy… I guess she will stay for more 2 weeks… next to leave will be rob or elisabetta, IMO…
I still say they are dead wrong on Ricki Lake. She is better than we all expected and just look who her partner is, please give me a break. Her odds to me are alot better than Kristin. These will change week by week, you’ll see.
I have to say, as a huge DWTS fan, that I was bummed after the premier. I’ll list a couple of my “complaints,” at the risk of getting reamed, but need someplace to vent. 🙂 Too many new elements, some of which are not better. The director hasn’t figured how to shoot the huge set…wide shots are too wide, too many cuts during performance. I couldn’t get “lost” in the dance as before. Lighting in the audience is too dark so can’t see the fun cutaways well, and Derek, my reason for watching, was lackluster as well as his choreography, which is only time I’ve EVER had that reaction to him. Ricki is wonderful, but she talks too much and his personality gets lost. I actually switched to Ashton briefly to try and shake off my disappointment. I hope I adjust. The odds seem fairly accurate to me. Unfortunately.
Ricki’s only slightly better off than Elisabetta? Ooh wee – clearly those glib, tough-talking, cigar-smokin’ oddsmakers in Vegas have got a lot to learn 🙂 Youth & beauty do not equate to success on DWTS – just like older age and higher body weight don’t rule out the possibility that someone will be successful. Once again, I think they’re focusing too much on the surface – who’s young & able-bodied and gets semi-decent scores. And I actually think Nancy’s better off than Rob, too. But there’s a silver lining to Ricki still being ranked so low: it’s a good time to lock in your bets on her, kids 😉 If she does win, you could be BANKING! But the sooner you place your bet, the better – the oddsmakers will eventually catch on to the fact that Ricki stands a chance at winning and will up her odds (and lower her payout). Damn, am I really doling out gambling advice right now? lol
I can’t understand ANYONE, at this point, worrying about the betting odds or putting any stock in them at all. One only has to look at where Elisabetta is right now, compared to last week, to see the relevance. These are nothing more than a fun talking point.
Mary, Derek himself said that he knows which moves look good on a beginner and he tends to stick with those. It’s called thinking about YOUR PARTNER and not yourself. He’s doing his job. Unlike some. :::cough::: As much as I like to think other wise most of the time, it’s really NOT the Derek Hough show. Or the Mark Ballas Show. Or the Chmerkovskiy show. It’s Dancing with the Stars. Their job is to make their partner look good – and if that means you choreograph a pretty standard V. Waltz to start the season, that’s what you do. Better that than getting more complicated (although Bruno did say the underarm passes were difficult) and having her mess up…and get voted out. As for Ricki talking a lot – she’s excited and she’s the celeb (although he’s up there himself).
Ooops, forgot to add – I DO agree with you about the lighting and the staging. Hopefully they will realize that the shots are too wide for TV and they’ll get over the need to show off how big their ballroom is. Men. It’s all about size. 🙂
Hmmm…love the new set but your dead on Mary…they need to quit cutting away, I hope they figure out that not only is it great to see them from the waist up we HAVE to see the feet/legs moving as well!!! I want to see the whole body moving! The set reminds me of the UK set now with the huge staircase leading up to the box. Me I love the elegance of the waltz and how the Pros respect it. I love the packages, interviews and dancing…cant wait to see more!!!! Good luck to all the couples left!!! Love them all for different reasons. 🙂
I think Elisabbetta will go next ( assuming no one blows next dance)
Nancy will have 1 or 2 more weeks.
They’re under estimating Kristin.
Anyhow, in the Next three weeks – Rob, Elisabbetta , Nancy will go ( in no particular order)
Aren’t these the people who said Elisabetta would win the whole thing? I take their predictions with a HUGE grain of salt…because frankly they don’t really know what they are talking about.
I think the creators of this site have figured out the key elements that effect voting. I trust puredwts predictions much more than anyone else.
IMO Kristin probably too high and Ricki too low. JR is right and everyone else it will depend on whether the improve from week 1 or get worse…or stay the same.
@ Mary, I am a huge DWTS fan as well and have seen every season. I really got into the show more because of Derek. Its sad to hear that you got that impression about Derek and thought Ricki and his routine was lackluster. I thought it was beautiful and one of the better performances of the evening. He mentioned he was extremely nervous to be back at the “Meet the Cast” and most likely why he was reserved on Monday. He has not been on the dance floor since last year. Since he has won three times, I am sure he put pressure on himself and wants to live up to the expectations that people learned to love about him. I think the odds are inaccurate for a few of the couples. Ricki will place a lot higher than most will think. Kristin will place lower, but that is just my opinion.
Oooo…you’re right about the UK set. I didn’t realize it until you mentioned it, but it is very familiar looking now.
And thanks Toni. 🙂 It’s just that we actually watch the show and base our opinions on something more than who has a pretty face and is under the age of 30. 🙂
#Princess Heidi…I agree…I want to see how they dance. Best dancer last season was Chelsea and she didnt win. Hopefully see gorgeous & sexy dancing instead of just gimmick dances. Well hell, I’m not going to complain if anyone does American Woman like Maks did last season. 🙂 I just wish them all to stay healthy and get to the finals! Debs 🙂
Hehe…when I think of Vegas oddsmakers, all I can think of is DeNiro’s character in Casino. Tacky suit-wearing, cigar-smoking, whiskey-swilling mobster-befriending good ol’ boy who dishes out the odds with a swaggering arrogance. Can you image him doing the odds for DWTS? “So yeah, I got the inside track on that Elisabetta. Apparently she’s been hittin’ the sack with that Val kid…could hinder her performance on the floor. Better knock her down to 12 to 1, Paulie. And that JR guy? Ooh, he’s allegedly quite popular with the ladies…better bump him up to 3 to 1. We’re gonna make a MINT this season, kids!” 😛
I am sure I’ll hear it over this, but I don’t think Hope belongs anywhere near the top. I love Maks, don’t get me wrong. However, I think that his votes will only get them so far. She has no personality, and she can’t dance. Yes, she is athletic & in shape, but this does not bode well for dancers.
I’m not the least bit surprised that Hope and JR have risen toward the top of the odds list. However, I am a bit surprised, like everyone else, to see Ricki towards the bottom. And Carson and David above her? Please. I like them, but I will admit that she was better on Monday night.
Unless he really shapes up, I think Rob will be the next to ship out..then followed by Elisabetta and maybe Nancy.
I’m with Courtney & Heidi – these Vegas folks don’t know what they’re talking about. I may drop a small wager on Ricki at these odds. Mama would like a new outfit, complete with shoes!!!! 🙂
Odds makers are on crack. Nuff said.
Would love to see the criteria they use to come up with this stuff. The factors they’re using to handicap the field don’t fit DWTS. Don’t they tailor their formula? They seem to take into account high positives (Hope/JR) and high negatives (Nancy), but they don’t give near enough weight to the “bland factor” (Chynna/Elisa/Kristin). They don’t get that this really isn’t very much about the celebs’ ability to dance.
Thanks for posting. I was wondering how the odds had changed now that they have all danced.
I thought I heard or read Elisabetta say that her country of Italy was voting?? Did anyone else hear that as well. That could be the only saviour that she has since her partners isn’t doing her any favors. I don’t see her lasting much longer.
I think Maks will do well with Hope but not make the finals. She looks too manly to me. No way in the top spot. Chynnas up to high, she has Tony he never makes the top half of the pack. I think Ricki, Nancy, and David and Chaz should be rated higher. Kirsten and Rob I just plain forgot about. Carson, my lovely Carson, I do not have clue where to rate him… LOL
I do agree with JR at first place. I still stand by my previous prediction, I see JR and David as the final two standing.
@ Sandy – yes, Elisabetta did say (can’t remember which interview) that her friends in Italy were voting despite the time difference – iirc, she said 9 hours diff, but that may be a couple of hours off? (Where’s Heidi’s world time link when I need it?)
Yes Italy is 9 hrs ahead of me on the West Coast. Unless they are voting from the feed when East Coast get’s it before I do.
@Just1 – thanks! so she did say 9 hrs which must mean they get the West Coast feed.
I don’t think the “odds” are at all relevant, either. Just fun to see what others think (if they are even thinking). As for the season, I don’t really care for the larger set, but it may be because it is new and I’ll eventually warm up to it. It just seems huge and we are used to a more intimate setting. Agree that the stairs was not thought through. Perhaps if the camera work was better I’d change my opinion. HATE the fast cutting. I want to watch these people dance. The camera work is interfering with that. It seems like they are trying to make the camera angles and cuts wayyyy too much a part of the performance. They must stop it!
I agree with most of you, that the top four are JR, Ricki, Chynna and Hope. Although, Hope better find her feminine side soon. I adore Chaz and Carson, and think they will stick around just because they are fun to watch, not because they have a real shot at winning. I could be wrong. Sure is fun to speculate, though. Also, Nancy is a big surprise. Would like to see what she can do in a couple more weeks when she gets over the jitters and remembers what she is doing. I don’t have any patience for the “K’s”, waste of time for me. Bad manners does not equal entertainment. I wonder if they realize they stand out like sore-thumbs next to the classy behavior of Chaz, JR, Chynna, and many others who have been on the show. Oh well. I love this show anyway. Thank you, as always, for the best web site. Even if I don’t post my comments, I’m always here reading everyone elses. Thanks!
Thanks for updating the odds but I just don’t get what they are basing it on ? Do they even watch the couples dance, do they weigh it based on shows demographic. I also think Hope looks like a man and it looked to me like she was stumbling alot, Chaz looked kinda stiff-legged and “prancey”, something off for Cha-Cha anyway. I always want Derek and his partner to win and I thought he and Ricki had a good shot at least to get to final 3 but all the coverage of the show seems to be overshadowed by controversy and they are hardly mentioned in alot of the mainstream media coverage. That could be a good thing if the lineup shakes out as it should, by dance ability mostly, in the next few weeks. Then she will be left with her name recognition being her advantage and Derek being the wild card. Gawd ! I love this guy !!
I wasn’t that impressed with Hope & don’t think she deserved a 21. Even though it was their first dances, she looked rushed and sloppy. She wasn’t any better than Ricki. I liked JR and Chynna’s V. Waltz and Kristin’s Cha Cha. I thought for the first week her Cha Cha was pretty good. I think they need a few more weeks to separate the pack.
I remember season 11, Corky said he had Mark, Shirley, and his friends in England voting online for he & Mark (probably Derek, too lol)! Someone also said that people in Austria voted for Elisabetta…..not sure if that’s actually true.
