DWTS 13 Maksim Chmerkovskiy Writes On Hope Solo, The Cha Cha, and More!

Maks has written a new blog for TV Guide. He wrote of Val and Elisabetta’s departure and how Elisabetta’s low fan base hurt her chances even with higher scores (has Maks been reading Heidi’s number posts? 😯 ). He also wrote about his disappointment in the judges negative comments to everyone. Hope took what they said hard and he thought it was undeserving. Now they are working on their Cha Cha. Hope has chosen an upbeat song to tell her story. More below. Be sure to read the full blog at the link as Maks also talks of his dog Sir Sleep and his new jewelry line being available at JC Penney and other stores soon.

As for our scores, it is what it is. I am more concerned with the judges’ comments. I thought they were discouraging, not just for us, but other celebrities and pros. I understand when harsh criticism is deserved, but with Hope, I don’t think it was deserved. I was actually more OK with them on Monday, but when I saw video of our jive afterward, I thought it was good. It was quick and fast and looked better than a few others. Maybe this was a case of high expectations for her, but I thought she did well. We got a little discouraged. It’s tough doing this week in and week out — we have to pick up the pieces try to move on, and that’s on top of choreographing a new dance, teaching the new dance, learning the new dance and everything else. It’s mentally difficult. Their comments stuck with Hope. She felt a little insecure about a few things. Everything that she does on the soccer field feels completely opposite of what I’m trying to make her do here. I’m not trying to change her body drastically — I don’t want her to have a hard time going back to the Olympic camp. I don’t want to change that in her, so it’s a balance of finding that mix for her to feel comfortable. I’m just happy we got through and that the week has passed.

Now we have the cha-cha. It’s coming along great. It’s also celebrity story week and they get to pick the song too. It’s going to be a pretty dramatic week and I feel like most of the songs people have chosen may be more lyrical or serious, but Hope went in the complete opposite direction. But it’s not like you can be completely serious with a cha-cha anyway! She picked a song the women’s team played in their locker room during the World Cup to get pumped up. It’s a really cool, energetic song, and we’re just going to go out and do a fun cha-cha.

I think everybody was great this week. Some people had comebacks and some people had dips, but overall, I think everyone did well. It was a very hard week, but I think this third week will be the true test. Now we only have four days to prepare a dance, so we’ll see how everyone does.

lolzDWTS – Week 2

Another crazy week on DWTS. And I have to say, Courtney and I went a bit crazy this time around. I had to put everything into a gallery. That means you have to click on the picture, and then click again to see the full size. Just too many shots to put them all in individually.  Cheese tomorrow. 🙂

I'm a nerd and proud of it. Two degrees in geology also means I love BEER. :-) I'm also a Derek lover - proud of that too. So don't scream at those of us on this site and call us a bunch of "biased Derek-lovers" - it's just ME. :-) It may sound like I hate DWTS at times, but really, I'm just a snarky nitpicker from way back. And I'm cynical and jaded too. But I do love DWTS. :-)

DWTS Tristan MacManus On Nancy Grace: She’s a dancer now and plans to treat her that way! (Video)

Need a little MacGrace for your TGIF? Below are the two on Good Morning America today. They review the “evidence” of Nancy’s wardrobe malfunction and her denying it on Access Hollywood. That’s her story and she’s sticking to it (LOL!). Tristan talks of his delight of getting an “8” and hopes it’s the first of many. They are working long hours and having fun. The whole experience is like nothing Nancy ever expected. She’s so thankful for Tristan, but, she talks of the “grunt” level going up in their practices. Tristan comments that “she’s a dancer now and plans to treat her that way”. Fun interview as always with these two!

Be sure to watch Nancy’s show tonight. Both Tristan and Val are suppose to be a couple of her guests.

Adding: And here they are practicing for the SLOW WALTZ. Their song this week is “Moon River”. Looking good, Guys!!

DWTS13 Chaz Bono On His Dancing Journey So Far, His Future Plans, & More (Video)

Jay Leno interviewed Chaz last night on the Tonight Show. He starts out by calling him the “Chazmanian Devil”. They review Chaz’s journey so far on Dancing With The Stars. Jay tries to point out that Chaz had a bad diet before starting the show and Chaz says it’s not true. He had the bad diet before getting clean and sober 7 years ago. Chaz also talks of his previous dance experience. He took tap and ballet when he was little and took performing arts in high school (oh no, here comes the ringer debate again 😯 😉 ). They talk of the transgender debate as well and how Chaz let’s the criticism roll off his back. Chaz discusses how he’d like to maybe act or even be a late night TV host after his gig on Dancing With The Stars is up (good idea. I’d love to see that happen too!). All this and more below.

TV Guide has a new interview up with Chaz today as well. He talks of how the “injury” talk has been blown out of proportion (I agree. I wish interviewers would stop going on and asking him about it as if Chaz is complaining when he’s not. He wouldn’t even talk of it if they didn’t ask). He also discusses the great cast and the fun he’s having. Below is a take of what it felt like being in the bottom two. He also comments how the Rumba is easier and rehearsals are going well. More at the link!

What was going through your mind when you were called safe and realized you weren’t in the actual bottom two?
Bono: I was just really happy. Both of us didn’t want to stop participating in this, so Lacey and I were just incredibly relieved. You hope that [your fans can save you]. Also, we were one point off three or four other couples, so it wasn’t like we were way below. We knew we definitely had a chance to go home, but hoped we wouldn’t. We were really thrilled the fans got us through.

You scored a 17 two weeks in a row. What are you working on to bump up that up next week?
Bono: Nothing in particular. We just want to do the best job we can. Every dance has its own technique and I think each of us contestants has our own strengths and weaknesses. [The rumba] will definitely be easier for me, physically, than the quickstep. It’s slower and there’s no skipping, and rehearsals are going well.

Carson Kressley On His New Dancing With The Stars Friends And His Love For Horses! (Videos)

Carson Kressley was Craig Ferguson’s guest last night! They review the show last week. Carson says he wasn’t looking when Nancy had a wardrobe malfunction. He jokes on Maks again as well. He’s too funny as always!

Carson also did Ryan Seacrest’s radio show yesterday. He talks of how the cast all hangs out after the shows. He never thought at one time he’d be friends with Nancy Grace or hanging with Ricki Lake at her house.

Also, did you know Carson has a love for horses, showing Hackneys, and riding saddle breds? He’s been riding since he was 4 years old. Below is a cool clip of him talking about it. Fascinating!

Behind The Scenes Regard Magazine Shoot With DWTS Kym Johnson And More!

Just a couple of news items on Kym today. Here she is in some “behind the scenes” footage while shooting the last issue of Regard Magazine. The swimming suits are out of this world. She’s as humble as always when anyone talks of her beauty. She also mentions Dancing With The Stars a few times.

Below is a recent pap video. Kym says everything is going great on the show so far. She says all is fine with her neck now as well. She also makes it a point to talk about how unhappy she is with the Pittsburgh Steeler quarterback. Thanks to Sally for sending us this video.
