Ricki visited Mario Lopez at The Grove today (or yesterday?). Mario tells her she’s shrinking in all the right places. They talk of Ricki getting the first “10″ of the season and how challenging it is to “switch gears” in learning a new dance and do the opposite from what you learned the week before. But, Ricki is having fun and the experience has been “life changing”. She explains what her sons think of her dancing on the show as well. More from Extra below….
Not that it matters now, but, I wonder what Tony and Chynna’s scores would have been if their Tango had looked like this Monday night? What kind of score would you have given them if you were a judge? You can see it at the 4 minute mark below.
In my opinion, this dance needed more oomph and power. I love Chynna’s ballet moves, but, it seemed somewhat slow and lacking to the “Mission Impossible” theme song. It seemed too repetitive to her other dances too. I don’t think the performance deserved more than a “7″ or at best an “8″. Hmmm….
Also, as some of you have been discussing in another post, Chynna has expressed to The Huffington Post that the show is a “Popularity Contest” instead of about “dancing”. Below is the exact quote. True or False and is she being a poor sport about it? USA Today asked, “Sour grapes or telling it like it is”?
Phillips wouldn’t necessarily call “DWTS” a dancing competition. “It really does come down to the votes,” Phillips told The Huffington Post before her elimination. “And that’s kind of sad because it’s supposed to be a dance competition, but it’s actually a popularity contest, which makes me kind of sad. You know, you have to have a little bit of faith that there are people out there who are truly voting for their favorite dance, not their favorite person, because it is a dance competition and people are working really hard. It would be very sad if that was undermined, and it looks to me like that keeps getting undermined.”
What she said is true, but, she completely blanked out the whole dance and that has to account for something in my opinion whether a person is popular or not. Plus, she was just as well known as the other celebrities if not more so in some cases (IE: did that many people here know who J.R. Martinez was before this show?). Plus, her husband has a fairly big following. Anyway, I like her, but, I’m starting to think she’s being a poor sport some on this.
If interested, the two will be on The Wendy William’s show tomorrow (Friday) as well.
Thanks to Vin for the heads up on the Huffington Post article.
What dancing another week makes! Below are the Dancing With The Stars Las Vegas Odds for October 17th from OLBG. Last week, they had Carson at the bottom of the pack. He’s risen a notch now, but, he’s still not where he should be in my opinion. I think he should be at 4th or 5th? It’s interesting how the odds makers had Chynna in 3rd last week and we all know how that turned out. Note also how Chaz has risen in odds on the list and is tied with David and Rob’s odds have lowered. Interesting shake up none the less. What are your thoughts? Do these odds seem correct to you?
Slowly making a climb from the first two weeks, Dancing With The Stars has jumped a couple of notches in TV ratings for Oct. 3rd through the 9th. The show came in at 4th and 6th which is outstanding despite the criticisms of the media and the nay sayers out there who like to sensationalize and make more of it. Note how the X Factor stayed in the same position at the week before in 16th and 17th.

J.R. looked very cool in black last night as Jay Leno’s guest on The Tonight Show. He talked of why he first joined the Army in 2002 and what happened there after with the explosion. When J.R. first came out of the coma to see what happened to his face and body, he didn’t know how he’d go on. “Humor” was key in pulling him through and still is (as you can see in the interview). Jay asks J.R. on Dancing With The Stars as well. He’s having the time of his life and his Mom is too watching him. Much more below. Great interview!
