DWTS Hope Solo Along With Maks Interviewed By An Old Friend From Hometown Area (Rehearsal Video)
An old friend to Hope at KAPPTV in Yakima, Washington went into Maks’ and Hope’s rehearsals this week to interview them. They go over why she wanted to dance and face her fears of it. No matter how the Dancing With The Stars competition turns out now, Hope feels she’s accomplished facing those fears and how she did it for so many bigger reasons other than herself. You can see her and Maks practicing for their Tango as well. She looks so graceful and beautiful in a dress and heels. All this and more below. Stay tuned for part 2 on this interview on Monday.

Thanks, Vogue! I’m really looking forward to their tango.
They’re so cute together. On the same page!
Vogue, do you want me to try to make that video bigger?? I might be able to.
Ahh yeah, that would be really cool!!
THANKS!!
Oh, that is so much better. Now we can see her dancing better….not to mention seeing her dress and heels better too.
Thanks again!
My pleasure. Let me know anytime you get a little one like that and I’ll make it bigger.
Ok, sounds good.
xxx
MUCH better! thanks to you both!
How sweet. My family comes from near her hometown, maybe that’s another reason why I’ve been rooting for her.
Lovely interview. Hope and Maks have a good relationship. There’s also respect and friendship there, without a lot of “BS” and other baggage, and physically they’re very well matched.
I was delighted to hear Hope say DWTS is a positive experience for her regardless of how far she ends up going in the season. I was concerned that her competitive spirit would make anything less than a win a “loss” (you know what I mean). Happy to hear she doesn’t see it that way.
I think Hope is very strong willed and hard to deal with. She gives an interview to her hometown reporter and none to the local stations? Last week she did dance a little better but she had FLAT SHOES—-how did the judges let her get away with that?I adore Maks is it me or does he look like he is not a happy camper
@diana – Good Day LA is local, isn’t it? Hope & Maks were on there this past week and they were really good (there’s a video around here somewhere..) Of Course she’s giving an interview to her old friend at the hometown station! She’s a big star there!
And she didn’t wear “flat shoes” for the foxtrot. She wore BOOTS, in keeping with her cowgirl costume.
I think it’s just you. They look like they have a terrific relationship to most of us!
Of course she’d do an interview with her hometown reporter. They love her there. He’s been covering her career for 15 years! Literally half of her life. Why wouldn’t she do an interview with him? There isn’t anything weird about that. Hope and Maks were just on Good Day LA, and she did an interview with ESPN Dallas radio today, Billy Bush earlier, and with Grant Wahl and SI.com. Her media connections aren’t going to look the same as the Hollywood types. What an odd thing to criticize after watching such a heartwarming video.
Maks says they are friends. If you like Maks you should take his word for it, right? Maks doesn’t have to do a lot of theatrics when he’s around Hope. She isn’t very needy in that way and just likes to be herself all the time. To me they just look like two normal, non-Hollywood people who are humbled a bit by the gift she got. Maks is a big family guy and so is Hope and that was the kind of moment it was. If you want Maks and Hope being more playful watch the Good Day LA video. They were torturing her with rewatching her cha-cha. It was great.
Hope and Maks have been traveling quite a bit so far. I think not this past week? Anyway, Hope does get a chance to get interviewed by some of the stations where they’re at while traveling. NYC, for example. In Seattle, too.
They are friends. That is all.
Some of Hope’s interviews are part soccer and part DWTS when done by these other stations.
I’m not really sure where people get the idea that Maks and Hope don’t get along. Unless folks are looking for a showmance?
@Shep I guess it is human nature to have different views on Hope and Maks I appreciate yours I hope you appreciate mine. Evaine,Voguestria and Princess Heidi thank you for all your wonderful work keeping us so well informed. I know Hope had boots on in the foxtrot it might be me but they looked like they had a fairly flat heel. In Kym and Hine’s freestyle they had on dance shoes that looked like boots. Do anyone of you know if it was a dance shoe or a regular low heeled boot?
The only thing I actually notice re feet is when some one (ie Lacey)is inappropriately barefoot, or when they are wearing those stupid low-heeled shoes that chelsea would wear. The barefoot thing is just wrong. But the low-heeled shoes were so Chelsea wouldn’t be taller than mark. For freestyles, all bets are off – there are no rules. As for Hope…well, it was a theme week and they got Toy Story. She was in character. What more is there to say? It bugs the shit out of me when Len bitches about props in a theme week (as long as the use is limited), so I can’t see complaining about Hope’s shoes in the same.
I have noticed a bit of oddness to Hope and Mak’s relationship, but I’m not sure that’s a bad thing, per se. Maks seems to reflect his partners personalities – that’s who he is. Maks is slightly different with all his partners. He seems calm and relaxed this season…I’m not sure what more you could ask for.
Princess Heidi thank you so much for a quick and accurate response. Kudos to the three of you for all your time and effort and knowlege always look forward to reading what you all have to say!
Diana, I’m totally with Heidi on everything she pointed out about props, Hope’s, shoes, Maks’ and Hope’s connection, etc.. What more could we ask for? I just hope we see the two really turn it on now for the rest of the competition. If anything, they lack a certain unexplainable “power and “oomph” that Derek and Ricki have for what we saw last week in their Psycho dance. Time will tell if Maks and Hope can find that intensity they need? There is also no room for any kind of errors from them.
And Cranscape, I agree. There is nothing wrong with Hope giving interviews to the soccer/sports media and her home town as that’s where most of her fan base lies. But, they’ve also mixed it up by doing promos for the more popular media outlets too like AH, The View, etc too. So, it’s all good.
@diana – I do want to apologize for my harsh “it’s just you” comment last night. I’ve grown impatient with negative posts about the Maks/Hope partnership; but yes, you are certainly entitled to your opinion.
Maks says Hope is the perfect student .. their only issue is that she’s a Perfectionist, and they don’t have time in this competition for her to learn the way she wants to, by practicing a move repeatedly until she gets it right. I don’t think that’s a knock on her, it’s a complaint against the DWTS system.

It’s been said, and I agree, that Hope dances best “in hold” so their tango this week could be something really special. IMO, Hope is the first partner who really matches Maks in power of movement and length of stride. Watch their first dance, the Viennese Waltz, again. Maks wasn’t kidding that it was the best “frame” he’s ever shown in ballroom. He had to maintain it to control and guide Hope’s speed and strength. He will benefit from his experience with her.
I’m the individual who did the interview…I’m glad so many of you liked it…we had fun….just so you fans are aware, Hope’s hometown is actually Richland, WA in the Tri-Cities area of WA state….we cover both that area and Yakima with our stations…hope you enjoy part two, and we will be at the show Monday night to do a piece for Tuesday..KU
Hope rocks! She has always been a great person even when I knew her when she was a mere 2nd grader! I hope I get to see her again soon!
Kevin, you rock! Thanks for stopping in and no doubt we’ll love part 2 and any more coverage you do on Hope and DWTS. xxx
