Damn, having Chaz on the show has REALLLLLY been a detriment…;-)
Yeah, isn’t that something??!! LOL
Is this the first time the result show had more viewers than the performance show?
I can’t remeber it happening before…
Guess a lot of people wanted to see Julianne back on DWTS π
Don’t discount the draw of Susan Boyle. She has a huge following, too.
I wonder if people have been tuning in to see Carson. Between Carson and Courtney’s tweets yesterday, I’d be willing to be that he’ll be appearing in the group broadway dance so the ratings should still be good. I wonder if they’ll take a bit of a dive after that?
Unless ABC is smart enough to figure out a role for him on the show.
On another note; how is Two and a Half Men at number 5….does Ashton have that much of a following?
Ashton has over 8 million followers on Twitter, so he’s got a huge following. But men is dropping steadily in the ratings after the first two shows.
There is no doubt that was a great results show with the entertainment they had lined up so I’m not surprised at those numbers, but our numbers have been rising as well for the Monday night show as well!
Yes, the monday ratings went up this week to 17,76 million viewers, but the result show numbers were down quite a lot: 13,80 million viewers.
I think this season of DWTS is one of the best and I love this cast.. My dear sweet happy Carson will be missed. Anxious to see what is next for him. Love him!
X-Factor ratings are not what Simon would like, I am sure of that. I tuned in once and was underwhelmed, too much like American Idol. I guess Simon thought he was invinsible…
I love The Big Bang Theory… Cornball show, but I don’t care. Two and Half Men I have to watch online but its still a hit with viewers, Ashton is great, and I love Alan… But Charlie, Who???
Well, this week DWTS went head to head during the results show with X-Factor. It didn’t have that problem last week. While DWTS still beat XF in total viewers, it did bleed some of DWTS viewers away.
As for last week, yes, the results show is up in numbers – probably a combination of Footloose and old viewers wanting to see Derek and Julianne dance together, plus Susan Boyle – HOWEVER, the performance show is still off over last season by more than 4 Million viewers. That is not an insignificant number. Are ratings for all programming off by similar margins (except for Two and a Half Men)?? I dunno. I haven’t done any looking into it. I figure as long as DWTS remains top 10, I’m not too worried about it. π
Yes, the ratings are definitely lower this season – but it’s been this low before and rebounded tremendously – we’ll have to wait and see if that happens again.
There was also an article I was just reading that said stations are reviewing the way they rate shows due to the number of people DVRing these days. So people may not be tuning in at show time but are watching it later.
I don’t know if this will work, but here’s the link to the article.

Sandy, have you watched the X Factor since the first couple of weeks? I was a little underwhelmed at first, but, wow, it’s super good now. I loved this last stage where they had to sing at the judges houses. The talent they’ve found is blowing me away. I’m loving the X Factor more than AI. It’s a step above. I expect the ratings to go up when the LIVE shows start next week? Also, there was only one X factor show last week. Baseball took them off the air and they had to reschedule the other two shows until Sunday and Tuesday night this week. So, it’s hard to get a fair reading in ratings for the X Factor imo?
It is also on “On Demand” (I believe this is the first year) so people may be watching it there also. Only problem with on demand is that you cannot zap through the judges comments and Brookbot (the re-capper at tvline.com refers to her by that name).
On Demand numbers come in later along with the DVR numbers.
I’ve been watching the X-factor since the beginning. I think this first part, up until now, has been interesting because it’s been different from AI. Very different especially with the judge’s houses as compared to Vegas week. The judge’s houses shows have naturally, put more of the focus on the competition between the judges – another difference from AI that’s kinda cool. Now they go to live shows, yeah? It would be in their best interests, I would think, to not have them be the same as the AI live shows. I’ve never watched the UK version, so I don’t know how it’s going to play out.
I’m loving the older contestants (except for Dexter, think that was a mistake on Nicole’s part) and the two wee girls, Rachel and the little blonde whose name escapes me right now. NOT impressed by Tia or whatever her name is and I think Simon et al storyboarded that extra choice. The 5th girl should have been there from the get go, not Tia, IMHO.
And to keep this post on topic… I think network viewership is downish overall, so these numbers for DWTS are pretty damned good! π
Zap2It often posts ratings that take DVR and OnDemand into account.
Heidi: I think it might be the new CBS schedule that has taken some of the DWTS viewers: “How I Met Your Mother” followed by their newest hit “2 Broke Girls” and then the revamped “2 and a Half Men”.
I think it will hit # 1 soon.
@Gitte: I agree w you about CBS Mondays. I always DVR “himym” (Not great this season unfortunately).
Next week should get even better ratings since everyobody (if they like to admit or not) has a faavorite broadway musical and will be curious.
