DWTS 2011 Maksim Chmerkovskiy On The Dr. Oz Show And More (Videos)
Maks was Dr. Oz’s guest today on his show. He gave Dr. Oz and his viewers dance tips for losing weight. Come on! Don’t just sit there in your computer chairs. Up on your feet and do the “Samba” with Maks and Dr. Oz!! 🙂
TV Dance Secrets to Lose Weight
In other things related to Maks, don’t miss viewing a new ABC promo with Hope talking of her relationship with Maks which I don’t think I will comment on. lol
*raises hand* i would LOVE to hear your comment on Maks and Hope’s partnership. haha! but i really am being serious though.
either DWTS producers are trying to portray Hope as someone who isn’t enjoying her experience and doesn’t get along with Maks at all. sometimes when the camera was on Hope’s face during week 4 & 5, she looked annoyed or angry. i mean who wouldn’t if you constantly being told by Len that you are not aren’t great dancer or “committed” in this competition.
but also i really think Hope needs to just let go and let Maks LEAD her in rehearsals and really LISTEN to him. the less she fights with his teaching, there won’t be a struggle.
if you remember, the DWTS producers in season 11 made Maks and Brandy look like they didn’t get along. all they kept showing for week 2 and 3 was footage of them fighting. there wasn’t anything positive at all. then rumors immediately started that they “hated” each other on numerous tabloids.
so yeah i think DWTS producers have a hand in making a celebrity dancer look or act a certain way
but i do think Hope needs change her attitude quick in the way she thinks of this show. its a learning and growth experience. i’m just hoping that Hope will let this change to happen. if not then her fans/other people will see that on TV and maybe think she isn’t enjoying it.
by the way i will forever be a BranDMC fan (season 11 – best partnership Maks ever had…totally my opinion…haha)
thi message is not to voguerista, Courtney or princess Heidi.
(to the authors)1. Are they doing Team Dances this week?
2. Stop hating on hope please. i honestly don’t think she can take anymore people hating on her. the judges and the producers keep embarrassing her like this every week and all its doing is making her look bad. hope is innocent her and maks get along very well. she tried so hard not to cry when Len was slamming her with those outrageous and unnecessary comments. im just saying that if they do this to her again this week. shes gonna have the worst mental breakdown. shes so strong becaus ehonestly i would be able to handle all of it.
are they just so afraid that shell win that they are doing every thing to stop her? making her go first twice in 5 weeks. putting in her in jeopardy twice, went she obviously wasnt in the bottom. only showing slight banter with maks. and showing her cry to millions of people watching?
what people dont understand about hope is that she is resilient. the more they do this. the stronger she is gonna get.
the first week us hope solo fans made accounts for abc. and had our phones and voted. everything was still normal then. then they decide to put her in a “fake” bottom two. as soon as we saw that happen we started forming pacts of friends family colleages asking them to vote. most of us have up to 30 abc accounts and have many methods to vote hundreds of times. now multiply those votes by millions of her international fans. we came out in DROVES. they put her in the bottom 2 again.
WE WILL COME OUT IN EVEN MORE DROVES.
how the fuc are you in the bottom 3 when you have people screaming HOOPPPE in the audience of 1000 people? KNOWING that your not going home. COME ON PEOPLE. they did the same thing in week 2 when she was up against val and elisabetta.
if this is the producers plan. its backfiring on them reallllyy hard. :L
Jacqueline, really, your rant might have held a little more punch if you’d learned how to punctuate and use your ‘shift’ key. Just sayin’.
And not that you’ll believe this, but Heidi, Courtney and Vogue do NOT hate nor hate on Hope. They call things as they see them, that’s all. You’re free to disagree, but I would advise doing so intelligently. 🙂
Either Hope thought she was tough enough for the show to get by with 3-5 hours of rehearsal, or her or her people never saw this show LOL. She didn’t know they put “packages” together to air on the show? She didn’t know Maks is the “bad boy of the ballroom”? She never heard, read, or watched how other celebs on past shows had to, for the most, part, clear their schedules and dedicate their time to this show? When Kristin & Chynna (two celebs who were dedicated and did what needed to be done with a smile on their face and never showed disrespect to the judges) are eliminated, fans get pissed that others, whether poor dancers, or those uncommitted to the process are kept on. It is what it is and we all have to deal with it, or tune out! 🙂
Okay, then.
Oh dear. Jacqueline, we’ve heard all this before only with better grammar and punctuation. That’s what fans always say.
So let me ask you this – you don’t think she can take any more people hating on her…..yet you say that she is resilient and strong. So which would you like to sell, because they seem rather mutually exclusive.
Frankly, if she had that many people voting for her, I don’t think they’d keep putting her in the faux bottom 2.
Now, watch your tone or you’re going to find yourself on the wrong end of my temper. I’ve about had it with OTT Hope fans taking over this site, defending poor little Hope. People have a right to not like her just like you have a right to defend her – provided you watch how you talk to others.
I think we should dial it back on Hope. Both fronts. It’s just a show. She’s just a person. She hasn’t done anything terrible. It’s ok to not like her or like her, but the extremes are getting a little crazy.
Running things back through my head I can’t think of anything she did that has been worth this much attention. She rolled her eyes at a judge? Carson did a full body eye roll and cut them off and stuff and it hasn’t bothered anyone. Frustration tears? Doesn’t that happen every season? Not knowing if they can keep going? Ricki said the “quit” word and it seemed to not bother people. It’s just part of the tv drama. Glitter glitter!
Hope is trying to navigate Hollywood. She isn’t going to get it right all the time. None of the stars are or have. None of them knew what they were getting into. Hope had a bad week. That’s pretty much all that happened. Isn’t it more fun talking about things we like instead of making a strawman to tear down? Maks was wearing a top hat, guys. That is interesting. GLITTER. 0_0
All of the cast like each other. They like Hope. That’s a pretty good clue as to how we should see them as real people. It’s ok to not like her dancing, but the rest of the talk is starting to get crey crey if you know what I mean. Same goes for Hope supporters. She’ll get through this, enjoy it, and then go wow us in the Olympics. Bottom line, vote for who you want to and let the glitter fall as it may. More fun and less nasty please.
Sorry, Cran, you have no right to tell us to dial it back, given your recent diatribes on Hope. Almost smacks of wanting to have the last word.
Thank you, Cranscape! You hit the nail on the head. To paraphrase Lady Evaine, it’s just a glittery dance show. I thought the cray-crays were all on the official DWTS b*tch and moan board, but I guess a few found their way here. “Who left the back door open?” ***looks around suspiciously*** You’re a staunch Hope supporter who followed her to this crazy DWTS world (which is great), but IMO you’re also a reasonable, thinking being.
Let’s talk fun stuff. A top hat?? 😯
Katarina, obviously, I respectfully disagree. Cranscape is not like the Jacquelines who show up here.
Diatribes? Are you confusing me with someone else? I don’t think I have diatribed on anyone. I might wax poetical on Hope and have asked questions about how the show works, but I try not to say anything bad about anyone here. I don’t even really post that much.
Katarina is right, Cran – it’s not your place to tell people how to post. YOU dial it back. We’ve heard your opinions several dozen times so it seems more than a little hypocritical for you to ask people to dial it back.
Neither of you have any place telling others what to do. You don’t like the conversation, YOU change the subject and don’t take the bait when someone comments they don’t like Hope.
ETA: I should add that I don’t have any problem with the content of your posts although I am exceedingly tired of hearing about Hope, both positive and negative, probably as much as you are tired of hearing negative comments about her. I do take issue with the comments telling other people to stop with the criticism – that’s not your place.
i honestly think everybody is minding their own business on who they want to succeed on this show. all opinions are welcome, but that’s why they have a dwts board. too bad this board doesn’t filter the attitudes. Jacqueline what you said was unnecessary! please do your bitching and moaning on the dwts forums please. there are many more people like you who will except you attitude better! trust me you would fit right in! this website is not the appropriate place!
To (mis)quote one of the DWTS Professionals, when his celebrity partner was having a major freak-out, “It’s only a TV show, it doesn’t really mean anything.”
I think I’d love for Hope to realize that, and start having FUN! That is a very difficult concept for some of the celebrities that are on the show, especially ones that tend to have very perfectionist tendencies.
It’s usually like a lightbulb moment for them, and sometimes, one can tell…. I’m not sure that Hope’s realized that yet.
the only thing that made sense is her first question.
are they doing team dances this week? i know their must be a lot of air time to fill up with only 7 couples left.
They are doing a group dance, not team dances. A group dance for fun and I guess to ease them into 2 dances a week. 🙂
oh i see, so this dance should be fun yes? but not be put over their other dances?
I’ve missed the Group Dance!!!! It’s always fun, even if it’s not always been GOOD!!!
Ana Mia, and anyone else new to watching DWTS…. Week 6 had traditionally been the week that everyone gets together to do the group dance…. It’s NOT JUDGED!!! and is only for getting people used to learning 2 dances. The whole group gets together, and learns the choreography, but JUST ONCE! It’s quite fun to watch!
Week 7 will probably be the team dance, since there will be 6 pairs left, and they will be split into 2 teams, and everyone from the team get scored, and added to their first dance.
Guess I need to find some group dances….
thank you lori. but omg. is everbody going to be wearing the same outfits! :O
Jesus. Right after I tell two people it’s not their place to tell people what to do AND after I told Jacqueline to watch her tone, we have Ana Mia doing everything I just told the others not to do. I have half a mind to turn all the comments off and go to bed.
Seriously….cut it out. Or else.
what did i do?
Hm. I said “dial it down”. Which doesn’t mean stop criticizing. Just the degrees both sides were exceeding good taste. Obviously people don’t have to listen to me but it wasn’t an order nor phrased as such. Just a reminder it is more fun to talk about fun things. But I am new here and you guys run this board. This is the 3rd or 4th time Princess Heidi has made it clear I am an irritant, post too much (really?), and not welcome. I don’t think I’ve done anything close to being bad, but whatever. I tried this place out and I don’t think it is for me. Thanks to those who were nice to me while I was here.
Team Dances next week, Group Dance this week.
Oh the drama and over reactions. You might want to read my post again before you yell “good bye cruel world”.
I sure would like to throw down my toys and go home when people don’t agree with me. But if I can dish it out, I guess I can take it. Unlike some.
No drama from me. Thought Maks looked great teaching Dr Oz.
I think Maks was on Dr. Oz once before 🙂 Loved Maks “little something extra” at the end of the segment.
Regarding Hope, I really do hope that she does a good rumba. It is ONLY a tv show, and it’s supposed to be entertainment and a good experience, not the type of experience that needs Dr.Phil or Dr.Drew when it’s over lol! Night all 🙂
Ooh, hot and helpful! Thanks for posting.
Cranscape, you’ll be missed. I liked reading your reasonable, civil, interesting posts.
Hey guys, I hope nobody gets frustrated or annoyed at yet another comment about Hope, I just want to say something about the discussion.
I think the issue with Hope is that she is so different from all the other contestants on this season. I mean, except for Nancy Grace going back to her show, I honestly have no idea what any of the other contestants will be doing after the show is over in November, and I say that with all respect and as someone who is familiar with who they are. So I think it just makes people feel so invested in it where they wouldn’t be if the soccer player that was on the show was a retired player. I think if Landon Donovan was on the show, that would be the reaction as well. I would imagine people were concerned about Chad when he was on, but he’s not Peyton Manning or another starting NFL quarterback. I’m sure people thought about Ron as an NBA player, but he’s not LeBron James out there.
Hope just means a lot to US Soccer and I know that the producers talked to everybody involved and everything was ok for her to be on, but it just still doesn’t change how concerned/crazy it can make some fans.
Hope and her teammates were in so many interviews after they got back from the World Cup, they were like everywhere, and everyone was talking about Maks wanting her on the show!
You have to understand that, although not my reaction because I think DWTS is interesting, a lot of people, fans, soccer people, and so on, were just like, what?? who is this guy Maks?? Hope has the Olympics, and on and on. It’s just SUCH a different situation from any other contestant on the show, at least for this season.
I would imagine that is why people who are her fans are so into it because they see beyond the show and are kind of wanting her to get through it and get back to soccer. I am not one of those fans who are saying that, because I want her to have fun, learn to dance, and hopefully win, but there are some soccer fans that do not look at DWTS as many of us here do, and although they would want her to win, they see it as something on the way to what she’s really going to be doing, playing in the Olympics.
I like DWTS, but I just wanted to say how it might be looked at by others.
Claudia, my thoughts are that I’m going to give Hope another chance this week and I’m wiping the slate clean to give her the benefit of the doubt, and because I’ve been a long time Maks fan. But, I have never been more in a quandary over any of his partners as I am with Hope (and this is not in a positive way). She comes off conceited and arrogant much of the time…and, most of all, she’s not listening to Maks. But, I really hope she can get things turned around this week and we see her listening to him and they show a connection/chemistry or they could be leaving this week or the next. Like Heidi said in another post, the judges are going to get even more picky now. There is no room for technical errors, attitude, or any imperfections and whether she has a right to any of them or not.
Cranscape, I don’t think anyone wants to see you leave. I know I’ve enjoyed many of your posts. What Heidi is saying is that she doesn’t want others, but Admisintration, ‘moderating’ the site and telling others what to do or where or how to post. We’ll do that, you guys just tell your thoughts. 😉
Hope and Maks are both very stubborn individuals with their own ideas of how things work. Maks’ should count for more considering it’s his area of expertise not hers.
So going solely by that I would also say Hope is being uncooperative and arrogant.
But the problem is also Maks’ “bad boy” attitude. He expects his partners to put all their trust just in him, not listen to the judges or anyone else, and at the same time he’s the bad boy.
What if you don’t want to be a “bad girl of the ballroom”? What if you would like to take the judges comments into consideration? What about being totally insecure in performing so you can’t handle being a bad girl? Because first you have to have some proficiency in order to be all “you all can say what you want but I know I’m on the right track”.
I think Maks expects too much of his students so I’m not putting this incident on Hope. If she continues with the behavior then I will consider changing my mind.
Either way, it’s not such a big deal and definitively not something not seen before on DWTS.
Well, Soccer, this is a DWTS fan site, so while I appreciate the attempt to explain, I think the soccer fans need to perhaps try to understand the show a bit better. From where a lot of DWTS fans are sitting, I would imagine, Hope is NO different than any other contestant who comes on and has trouble dancing.
Also, FYI, any comments about other people on this site and how people are posting by anyone other than people who actually work here is going to be deleted – no Soccer I’m not talking about you, your post was a convenient place to make this point. All of you talk about the show to your hearts content – but don’t start telling others that they’re too invested or too…. whatever. That’s when the problems start and I’m over it.
Sheery,
It is my understanding that Hope was totally aware of how everything worked on the show, and about how Maks is. In interviews following the World Cup when she was asked about DWTS and Maks, she said she does watch the show, and that her and Maks share personality characteristics.
I would imagine though that it’s different and takes some time to learn how to deal with everything when you are actually ON the show, as opposed to talking about being on. I think this is what Hope was dealing with, and by everything going on this week through Twitter and events and everything, it looks like things are going to be fine. Let’s hope for an amazing dance on Monday for Hope and Maks!
One other thing, I personally think Maks is probably happier this season than he’s been before just because his brother Val is playing such a big part in this season. I know that that would make a better season for me if I was on DWTS and now my brother is on all the time too! Other than arguing in rehearsals, everything else with Hope has been without drama, and really chill. It looks like she gets along well with Val and Ted V. as well (from interviews and Twitter) so that can only be a good thing.
I don’t know about anyone else, but Maks can teach me the samba anytime. 😀
AMEN to that Winter! A man who can move his hips like that is just so nice to witness. Gushing aside I suddenly have this desire to learn how to samba ever since JR’s samba. Definately a party dance!
Perhaps I should see a doctor, but Maks does absolutely nothing for me. Probably the personality more than anything else.
Katarina, ::LOL:: No need to see a doctor. Maks isn’t going to appeal to everybody. I get a kick out of him — both his looks and his personality, but hey, to each his own! 😛
Voguerista: I agree!
But also remember the DWTS producers don’t show EVERYTHING into their rehearsal footage. They turn the footage of what they have into a “story”. Also I do think Hope needs to TRY enjoy the experience and LISTEN to Maks. Instead of pointing out everything that is wrong with the show, Hope needs to find the positive in order to enjoy her time left on the show.
Next few weeks will be interesting to watch her “survive” or conquer.
Maks is a male equivalent of Mae West. Loving his double entendres, sexually explicit, witty and brash.
It’s not something that turns me on but I do find him amusing.
I rewatched the rehearsal, dance, and judges’ comments/scores from Hope and Maks’ tango, and now that I think about it, the rehearsal is not really that bad. It kind of looks like Hope is saying stuff and Maks is just reacting to it. There is a cute moment there when he says you’re going to miss this when it’s over, and she smiles and says no, I’m not.
I also think it’s cute how Maks continues to say it’s a love-love relationship. He says in the rehearsal that they are fine outside of rehearsal, and that their arguing in rehearsal just gets in the way of their real relationship. You get the feeling Maks does not want to argue with her, and is trying to say that they get along outside of rehearsal.
I do think it’s cute how he always says he wants Hope to just have fun, and he always acts really cute with her after they get their scores. This stuff always stands out to me when I rewatch it.
I didn’t know too much about Maks before, I was just aware of who he was and watched some of DWTS, but now I am totally a fan, and I think at the heart of who he is, looks like a pretty nice guy actually.
Zack number 1 here 🙂 I’m actually enjoying not being as attached to DWTS as put more attention to ther things but I can’t help but still come back to this site since i’ve gotten to where I consider so many of you friends. How r u all? 🙂 I have a question..Is it a marathon or a GROUP dance? I loved the group dances but not so much the marathons. I hope they are bringing the group dance back. If so I might watch Monday! 😀
Vogue,
I just read over your post again, and realized there was something I wanted to post! I think it’s cool that you are going to look at Hope in that way from now on.
I just wanted to say, that it is unfortunate that she comes across that way, as you said, arrogant, because I just wish that who she really is would shine through a little bit.
With Hope and many other athletes, it really is a confidence thing, and not so much arrogance, in my opinion. As an athlete, you HAVE to have confidence because if you don’t, before you even get out there on the field you’re already starting out the game with the wrong mindset. I think athletes have a certain amount of confidence about them because they have to have that. Hope competes at the top level in soccer, and if she gets out there in goal and says, well maybe I can block this shot, I hope I can, I don’t really know, she is already losing. She has to go out there and say, I am going to block this shot, I will not allow a goal! So, I think that reflects in the other parts of her life.
Do you know the idea or picture that people always have of the football quarterback who is really good and popular, and stands up for the little guy that people pick on? Well, Hope is the female equivalent of that. She is a confident, strong woman, but she stands up for things when other people don’t want to rock the boat or are afraid to. When she played for the Atlanta Beat, she heard fans of the opposing team say negative comments about her teammate, and she stood up for her, even if it meant people not liking that.
A lot of what she tweets, she may not even be referring to herself, but standing up for someone else. I think she has developed good relationships with the cast on DWTS and doesn’t want to see anybody go.
I think athletes like LeBron James go through the same thing, people think they’re arrogant, but it really isn’t until you see them in different environments that you realize, these guys are just really confident about what they do, and in my opinion, Hope and other athletes completely respect their opponents while still being confident.
I just wish all of this could somehow translate on the show!
Zach, welcome back and yes, it’s a GROUP dance! Plus, it’s Broadway week as you know. If it’s anything like the last Broadway week, it will be a keeper. So, be sure to tune in. 😉
Soccer, I just wanted to correct that you that I’m not all ok with Hope. I’m wiping the slate clean right now, but, if there isn’t an improvement in her attitude, etc tomorrow night, I can’t guarentee my votes will be going to her and Maks. I plan to vote on technique, good attitude, and chemistry from here on out.
@Vogue – Wiping my slate clean as well with Hope. If the same attitude and overall performance continues the same. Then its “aveedersene” (sp. ?). I hope she has worked hard this week and shows everyone she is still in the game. However, I am worried about their dance, Don’t they have the rumba?
@Zack – Welcome back. There were a few times another poster was using the same name as mine as well. I know the moderators can tell the difference, but our friends on here can not.. And you are right we are all “friends” now aren’t we… 🙂
Sandy, I hope so too about Hope and yep, they have the Rumba.
Ooh that man can teach me how to samba ANY DAY! He makes it look so easy.
Hail yes, to Maks teaching the samba…( isn’t this the theme of the article? Did I miss something?) Those samba rolls are certainly a way to trim down and get moving. And the eye candy isn’t fattening. Thanks, Pure ladies…I hadn’t seen this vid. You guys are da bomb.!
Sandy, YES we are. 😉 Should be a great show!
