Poll About Appropriateness of Comments by Maks on Dancing with the Stars
I’m sure you all saw Maks’ comment on Dancing with the Stars, his appearance on Good Morning America talking about his comments and Carrie Ann Inaba’s comments about it. So, it seemed like the right time to do a quick poll. Did you find Maks’ comments appropriate or inappropriate? Notice that I didn’t say is he free to say them, or should he say them, etc. Those are all other interesting questions you can talk about in the comments. I’m interested to see the results.

Looks like the people are on Team Maks. I kind of love anyone willing to state their opinion like that, it’s not easy to do and there’s always backlash from people too wimpy to do the same.
I’m starting to warm to the Hope/Maks partnership. Hopefully this brings them closer together and they have a good week coming up.
If I were in Maks’ position that night, I mightve considered giving examples of the “little jdgemental comments” the judges make. I also wouldve grabbed a baseball bat and knocked their off their necks. That would be inapporiate. Maks wasn’t nearly that severe, so I vote the comments were very appropriate
re Courtney read below how accurate is this poll?
This is not giving us what people really think. I wanted to check the vote and in order to do so I had to vote two more times. How do we know this isn’t all die hard Maks fans voting? I am a fan of Maks but not this season with Hope. Courntney is there any way for you to take a count how many times one person voted? When I have more time I want to leave a comment under the article Maks appearance on GMA.
diana,
Certainly the above poll isn’t scientific. However, it does only count one vote per computer. It’s pretty good at that. There are some ways to game it, but it does a pretty good job of limiting gaming votes. So you can vote multiple times and only one vote will count.
I imagine we’re seeing some Maks fan bias in the voting. Although, the voting was neck and neck for a long time at the beginning. So, there’s definitely mixed feelings about what happened.
So, Diana, because you don’t agree with the results the poll is inaccurate?
For whatever it’s worth, I’ve seen similar polls on accesshollywood.com and people.com with the vast majority of people siding with Maks.
Haters tend to be the loudest and most aggressive of people, and that’s what we’re seeing with the Maks haters at the moment, but they’re a minority.
No matter how you look at it. Maks was insulting and disrespectful to Len Goodman. Even Maks father wants him to appologize, he was on the news on Wednesday evening!
reKate
I am not a hater I adore Maks but do not like Hope. I have always voted for Max with all his partners. There is no way I am giving a vote to Hope I don’t care for her at all. John was nice to answer my question about the poll I thought maybe it was just a few people voting over and over again. I back Maks but the one thing the judges were right about were her scores. Girl can’t dance and has shown no improvement!
re Kate re Margaret
I was going to put in my post that I thought he disrespected Len as Len is much older than him. Now Margaret has posted that Maks Father wants him to apologise to Len so I will say I agree with that. I am beginning to think that maybe parts of this were scripted I for one need alot more info because there is more going on than meets the eye!
Diana:
Sometimes we say things in the heat of the moment and regret it later on. That is if Maks has it in his heart to apologize. His father looks a respectable man.
You’re also right on. Hope can’t dance to save her life!
The judges are insulting and disrespectful every season
People agree with what Maks said about the judging. That actually doesn’t really put them on Team Maks. I agree with what he said about the judging – but he’s still a colossal asshole.
If it was so simple as people being on Team Maks, He would have won the show by now. Most people do think the judges are idiots.
ETA: This is why political polling can very often be manipulated to get the results you want to get – and why media outlets often report results incorrectly. It happens all the time and people don’t know it because they don’t reveal the they way the polling questions were worded. The question here was very basic “Were Maks’ comments appropriate” – well, most people would read that as “was he right about the judging” – and most people will agree. We write about it ever freakin’ week. But the key word is “appropriate” – I don’t think they were “appropriate” but I have a thing about words. I would bet that most people on the net aren’t that picky. They just don’t read with that degree of comprehension – too busy, in a hurry, yadda yadda. So, in their minds the question becomes “do the judges really suck” – of course the answer is yes.
Of course, after seeing the Maks fans hate on Derek all day long yesterday, it entirely possible that the mindless ones are traveling from web site to web site screaming and voting any way they can.
And of course, it doesn’t mean that Hope can actually dance, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see her stick around at Ricki or JR’s expense because Maks got the attention he so desperately craves.
@Margaret – I hope thats true about Maks dad. It would have been a huge disappointment to learn that Maks was raised that way and that kind of behavior was acceptable. Note to Maks: Dad knows best! Suck it up, Maks.
Heh, Sandy – I got ten bucks that says that Maks apologizes in private so that he can save face.
I never understood what is so terrible with the judges. Yes, Bruno crosses the line sometimes and IMO Len did the first time this season with his comment that Hope doesn’t put enough effort. And yes CA can get over excited and give better scores to hot guys.
But those things happen once in a while and don’t so much effect what the outcome is going to be. The only time I felt the outcome was skewed was with Ralph but that was more on the producer’s conscience then on the judges.
And OF COURSE they judge some people on the journey and some on technical ability. What fun would it be if they got rid of all the not so good dancers immediately? The show would have much less people to choose from in the first place because no one would want to participate unless they knew they are good.
The judges have a difficult job to assess each person’s potential and judge by it. Of course it’s not a perfect system because there are so many factors involved, the biggest one being choreography and the star’s relationship to his pro (also the pro’s relationship to his star, which should not matter but is sometimes unavoidable).
So, yes they make mistakes, but that’s why half of the vote is public’s.
I think some comments were appropriate, such as saying that the celebrities deserve recognition for the hard work that they put in, but I also think some of his comments, especially the one he said to Len about being too old and implying he should retire, was disrespectful.
I also think the “this is MY show” comment was egotistical.
I like Maks’ dancing, but dislike his attitude.
I’m sorry, but what’s wrong with people?
Of course, he has a right to express his opinion and even to say something to the judges at that time. But no human being has a right to be rude and disrespectful. You can’t complain about someone disrespecting you while you are being even more disrespectful.
There are way to say things that are constructive and civil and ways that are destructive and rude. Maks chose the latter – and if it’s really this lopsided in his favor, there’s something very wrong.
Imagine if we all dealt with disagreements like Maks did – in the Jersey Shore manner. Would be nice, eh?
Another morning on GMA, another day with another pro making negative comments about Derek…WTH are the producers doing allowing this to happen.? This is what you get when you are a nice guy, when you are one of the biggest “draws” they have on their show?? No one steps up to clarify some of these ridiculous comments or points out that these remarks have nothing to do with the current “problem”—the fact that Maks feels he and his partners should never be criticized or judged, even when they can’t dance. And that now, the rest of the pros and other sore losers feel like they can pile on because they have been given an opening and NOONE is doing anything about it?? And what do the judges do now…back down?? They also need some “media training”. Neither CA or Len did a very good job explaining things either. I feel so bad for Ricki. She already has to deal with the war hero aspect of how people might vote, all the other agendas this season. And Derek, when I think about it I get sick to my stomach. I can’t imagine how I would feel if I always gave my all, kept my mouth shut and just did an excellent job and all everyone who works with me can do is BITCH and tear me down.
Results kinda surprise me. Also, you guys should check this out. If true, I would be curious to see this happen lol.
http://perezhilton.com/2011-10-26-pee-wee-herman-signs-on-for-dancing-with-the-stars
War Hero Aspect??? What are you talking about? What about a War Hero dealing with an actress? or Sports Figure? or whatever? I don’t think anyone has to feel sorry for Ricki she is doing great. Derek will be fine he is a professional.
Wording is everything. I think if we changed it to “Do you think Maks’ behavior this week was justified?” there wouldn’t be quite so many people on Maks’ side. I also think the Maks fans were probably out in full force last night, making the rounds at any website they could find with a poll…because the last time I checked the totals last night, they were almost 50/50. I’m more than a little skeptical that the totals in support of Maks suddenly jumped 4-fold…and I’m starting to wonder if Maks has set an example for some of his fans to follow, as they seem hellbent on very vocally supporting Maks and attacking Derek. More of Derek’s fans seem to be taking the high road and just ignoring a lot of what’s going on. That too could influence the results of this poll – the Maks fans are out to prove something; the Derek fans have already moved on to more important things…like creating more accounts with which to vote for things that actually mean something…;-)
I don’t get it.
Even if you feel that the judges are crazy, manipulative people why would it be okay for Maks to act as a self proclaimed spokesman against the judges?
It’s insane that people defend him. He acted out purely because of himself, not in favor of all the pros or his partner.
Maks has been on the show long enough to know that is the way the judges are and the audience expects the judges to be that way so they (audience) can boo them. I feel it was inappropriate for Maks to make the ccomments that he did. He came off as a rude and insensitive jerk. Maks didn’t like what the judges said and how they said it but Maks showed unsportsman like behaviour in what he said and the way that he said it. There are kids that watch that show and to see or hear a professional dancer to say what they did is unexcusable in my opinion. Just because he isn’t getting the scores that some of the other dancers and stars are getting he has to act like a spoiled child that didn’t get his way about something. Maks and Hope aren’t the dancers that Derek and Ricki or JR and Karina are. Maks has a poor attitude and it shows in his dancing. I used to like Maks until this latest episode on Monday night. I was hoping it would be Maks and Hope that were voted off Tuesday night instead of Chaz and Lacy even though Maks and Hope were better dancers than Chaz and Lacy. Chaz also showed poor sportsmanship in his comments just because he isn’t the dancer that the other stars were and it has nothing to do with Chaz’s weight or which sex he is now. Chaz just couldn’t move the way the others could and it had to do with his problems with his knees. When your knees don’t bend as well as they should then you can[t do the moves that is required in these dances and all the hours spent in rehearsals just makes poor knees hurt more and not work the way they should. Maks and Chaz both need to grow up and act like adults in their comments instead of acting like a spoiled child that didn’t get their way.
Miss Colletti:
Don’t like the fact that Derek is the best dancer on the show, then stay off! You’re acting just as babyish as Maks is!
Don’t worry he and Hope aren’t long for this world!
I am a die hard faithful viewer of DWTS since the first season and I am personally sick of the judges thinking they can make personal attacks on the dancers. They are there to judge the dances and not why the dancers can’t do a particular move. Making derrogatory remarks about the dancers is inappropriate. I believe Maks simply got tired of listening to Len and Bruno and Carrie Anne being judgmental instead of just judging and I have heard every one of them do just that. I do believe that sometimes we say things we regret but don’t regret that we spoke up. I support Maks’s need to speak his mind. He put it so eloquently when he said he came to this country because he could speak his mind and he spoke.
Fran, consider this a warning: the next time you decide to take swipes at other posters or bloggers here, you will be permanantly banned. Find a way to be more respectful with your comments or get out.
And this should be a warning to EVERYONE: complain about the show, complain about the pros, whatever. But complaining about the blog itself/the bloggers/other commentors is not going to be tolerated anymore. Heidi, Vogue, John, & I reserve the right to delete or block anyone that can’t play nice & comply with that. Don’t like it? Go fend for yourself amongst the throngs of trolls over at the ABC board.
I wish all the TV Shows would ask serious questions about what happened but they dont, they just play what happened on the dance floor and leave it at that. They dont show Maks explaining, “My Show” comment. Very one sided except for Regis & Kelly yesterday. REALLY everyone is making hateful comments about Derek? Wow…I havent seen/read that. Would love to see what Sasha said, anyone have the video link on that interview? We all have our opinions rightly or wrongly (I’ve gotten fired for being right and telling my boss the facts) I know all about it. Just because we have the internet doesnt mean we have to bully/hate either Maks or Derek because that is what is happening. SAD SAD SAD
Here is an example of the unfair judging as it relates to Hope…in two of her latest dances she did two beautiful dips(if that is what they are called ) a forward one on her tango and a backwards one in the rumba. A pro couldn’t have done much better yet not a word of praise was spoken about it. Then! you have Rob getting drooled over by CAI for basically moving his feet while his partner dances circles around him. No, she is not great but I can see her frustration when the few things she does really well are ignored by the judges.
Courtney, John, Heidi, and Vogue, Thank you so much for all you do to keep this blog civil.
I can only speak for myself (not gonna put words in anyone elses’ mouth) — but I appreciate how well you’re navigating through this train wreck of a week. **standing ovation, flourishing my 10 paddle”"
Just imagining what the ABC board must be like right now is enough to give me nightmares
I agree with the content of Maks’ words but just not the way he is sharing them. He just seems so hypocrtical. He and Kirstie benefited so much from this type of judging last season.
The thing is that the judges think Hope isn’t living up to her potential. Seeing her be much more fluid and graceful when she had the troupe ladies by her side makes me think they are right. She is not shining with Maks the way she should be.
That is obviously a highly subjective opinion. I could be wrong, she may just be untalented. But my gut is telling me otherwise.
@Natalie – But dips alone do not a rumba/tango make. And from someone who has done a few dips in her day – the rumba one was just ok. Dips aren’t exactly expert-level moves, nor are they considered regular, meat-and-potatoes steps. Lovely as they may have looked to you, that alone does not necessarily merit commendation from the judges when the rest of the rumba lacked hip action and finesse. As for her tango – I’m not sure what “forward dip” you’re referring to, maybe it was a corte – but that tango was a mess. Hope stomped through it and got wobbly on her turns. Were you expecting the judges to hone in on that one “forward dip” and lavish praise upon Hope for doing it? If you’re judging on the dance as a whole, then I’m sorry – neither dance was very good, and I don’t think the judges were being unfair in pointing that out. Two lone dips done marginally well are not indicative of unfair judging.
And I’m actually starting to feel like some of the Maks fans are starting to point fingers at just about anyone as part of the “great anti-Hope conspiracy”. Like Rob or not, his dancing is quite a bit better than Hope’s – I’ve said for several weeks now that I’ve been quite impressed with the ease with which he executes a lot of his turns, and the extensions he does with his arms. Yes, his performance quality could stand to improve, but I daresay Cheryl is not dancing circles around him – he’s moving quite a bit more than, say, Chad Ochicinco.
Sorry, but the only “colossal assholes” here are the judges. I cannot believe no one is upset at the way they treated Chaz. Yes, he couldn’t dance, I accept that, but the mean and disrespectful comments were not necessary. To compare another human being to an animal is NOT acceptable.
Now, people are upset that Maks mentioned Derek on one of his interviews, well, Maks was ASKED about Derek. He simply responded. Derek wouldn’t even be a factor in this conversation had he not been a coward and apologized to the judges on Maks’s behalf. Please!!
*BANGING HEAD ON DESK* No one is defending the judges, Amanda – we’ve already said at length on other threads that what they said to Chaz was rude and inappropriate and that they’ve been jerks for the past several seasons. What else is there to say about it?
And I’m not sure why everyone keeps bringing up Chaz when the issue we’re discussing is Maks, and whether or not the way he reacted to the situation was appropriate. Two wrongs don’t make a right; how is telling someone they look like a penguin any different than telling a seasoned professional of 50 years that they should get out of the business? Both insulting. Both uncalled for.
So Maks is being praised for being honest about his feelings about Derek when Robin brought Derek’s name up? But Derek is being condemned for being honest about his feelings about Maks when the red carpet guy brought it up? This double-standard I’m seeing where Maks is concerned is downright disturbing.
Courtney, you’re being silly.
Of course Maks can say whatever he wants- that’s his tall, dark, handsome, exotic, sweeps you of your feet nature.
He can’t help but be honest because he’s so real and genuine (not to mention tall, dark, handsome and exotic). :rolleyes
He really plays into the prototype of women falling for the bad boys perfectly. I always thought he had enough self irony about the whole business but now I’m doubting he’s that smart.
I’ll still give him a small benefit of a doubt but it doesn’t bode well.
sasa,
I love your description of how people are often swept away by Maks looks. It’s amazing what beauty can do to impair the senses. I know, beautiful blondes have that same effect on me.
sasa, you summed it up pretty well.
Maks has a lot going for him, but I don’t think he’s terribly intelligent.
How does one set up more accounts for voting, Courtney?
@John & sasa – Maybe that’s why I’m not siding with Maks – I’m immune to his charms
In fact, I’m not particularly attracted to any of the pros on the show – Derek’s too blonde for me, Maks is too arrogant for me, Tony’s hair bothers me, Mark’s too…Corkyish, Louis is too pocket-sized, Dmitry’s too quiet, and Tristan’s too boyish. Then again, when you have your own pro to come home to…all the others kinda pale in comparison
@Meggie – Glad you ask! You have to set up more email accounts, then register them at abc.com, and then you have to verify them via a link they send to your email inbox. I personally find it to be a better use of one’s time than voting on polls about Maks.
And the Derek & Tristan fans are having a bit of a friendly competition right now to see who’s fans can create more verified accounts to vote with….not sure what exactly the rules are, but you can ask @purederekhough or @TristanDWTSfans!
Thanks, Courtney! I’m on it right now!
Courtney, I’m so with you on the male pros and their (lack of) charms. Cosign on each one.
I envy you a little for being with a dancing man. Mr. Sasa is truly a great guy but his dancing is terrible.
Courtney & Heidi where did you see Maks’ fans attacking Derek? I actually think it’s the other way around. Maks’ fans are trying to stay out of it, while some Derek’s fans (not many) tweet Maks one hateful thing after another.
I have watched the show since it began. I think in the last 3 seasons, the judging has become personal. Also, the judges vote lower for a celebrity if they think they could “do better “. With the current cast of judges, the stars will not do the show. I wouldn’t want to be compared to an animal. Billy Ray Cryus and Michael Bolton both know how these judges “work”.
I’m not going to defend the judges bad comments. If it’s inappropriate it’s inappropriate and they should be held responsible. However, I have to admit as a reality TV that’s followed a lot of judging, you have to be somewhat sympathetic with the challenge they’re faced with. Sure, they get paid very well for a pretty posh job. I’m not talking sympathy for their jobs and the “hard work” they have. I’m talking sympathy or least understanding of how hard it must be for 13 seasons to come up with new comments that are interesting and entertaining. That’s not an easy task.
Let’s just be clear though, the judges are there for entertainment value and not as professional critiques of what happened. You can tell that they’ve encouraged the judges to be “good cops” and “bad cops.” That’s part of the recipe of the show.
One other comment, would other judges be able to do any better? The guest judges seem to prove that it wouldn’t be better.
“Courtney – So Maks is being praised for being honest about his feelings about Derek when Robin brought Derek’s name up? But Derek is being condemned for being honest about his feelings about Maks when the red carpet guy brought it up? This double-standard I’m seeing where Maks is concerned is downright disturbing.”
THANK YOU. This is all I see over and over again about everything. Maks can have his opinion, but Derek can’t. Maks can have countless great partners capable of winning but that’s ignored and only Derek gets condemned for it. Maks can claim the show as his own and constantly show off how much he thinks of himself, while Derek stays completely out of it and works to always make his partners look their best.. and he’s called arrogant.
I’m feel like I’m in some alternate universe full of double standards.
@John
You said it better then me. I was trying to make a similar point about the judges and actually wanted to write what you just did- that other people would most probably be just as bad at the job.
They have several roles on the show and have to balance them out. They should be understanding of star’s capabilities, keep in mind that they are there to entertain and at the same time critique the actual dance based on a loose scale of “what could this person do in theory”.
It’s not as one sided as it looks at a glance and is the reason why I don’t get the hatred towards them.
Sure, they mess up every once in a while and have been offensive (Bruno has, don’t know about the other two) but NO ONE could do it perfectly and that’s why the public gets their say in the results.
If the judges were really judging based on technique like they would at another dance competition, the judges could be much much harsher. Would be interesting to just have a judge that was the “technical” score. One for artistry. One for entertainment. Oh wait, that’s ice skating. Nevermind. Far too complex.
JR/Karina fans better be out there making and verifying voting accounts too. I can see a scenario where the votes coalesce around the aggrieved parties in this maks-made-melodrama and people either (a) forget about the upbeat, positive war veteran who’s dancing beautifully or (b) make the classic mistake of thinking he’s “safe” because the judges and other voters will take care of him.
Yes because I know the Nancy/Tristan & Ricki/Derek fans are challenging each other to make and verify more email accounts for voting this coming Mon. I havent heard anyone else doing that…have you??
I’ve been gone all day, so I’m way behind, but to Courtney’s point about Derek fans with nothing to prove – Derek fans were trained a long time ago to not waste time on senseless polls. Especially sites like wetpaint which are spamable and there’s no real prize. The only point is to get hits. I think most derek fans feel like there’s nothing they need to prove after three wins a three separate Emmy nominations. I didnt even respond to most of the idiots that tweeted me – I just blocked them.
Uh, hello? Derek did not apologize to the judges on maks behalf, karina did. And I applaud her and Derek both for showing a level of grace and maturity, and GOOD Manners of which maks clearly isn’t capable.
Natasha, Derek’s @replies yesterday was filled with hateful tweets. They were even tweeting ME hate. Not sure if they aren’t bright enough to realize I’m not Derek, or if they couldn’t handle the fact that I came up with a productive way to ignore it. If you didn’t see it, you’re not looking.
I had a couple tell me that Derek is not going to win, that JR is – to which I replied DUH. Maks fans are the only ones having trouble accepting that fact. Maks got a partner he desperately wanted, and still won’t win.
I don’t think JR has anything to worry about in the winning department, extra accounts or no. The general public has a large hand in who wins and I doubt they will start voting for maks and hope in droves just because he acted the fool all week. He likely did buy himself and hope another week – who they knock out will depend heavily on the scoring. Just hope it’s not ricki. Of course, I doubt very much I’ll have to worry about Derek fans being complacent this week.
@Heidi – Hope doing the Samba this week… I don’t think I can watch, I might have to shut my eyes… I just can’t even imagine it.
Derek will always be your “number one”. These people tweeting you about Derek and JR, don’t they realize that you like JR as well.
Although I agree 100% on what Maks said about the judging and their need to be more constructive and less insulting, he needs to accept criticism. Respect is granted and earn. If you disrespect the judges every season, don’t expect to win MBT. No matter how right he is or if he’s more knowledgeable in ballroom dancing than Carrie Ann and Bruno, he still needs to respect their comments and take it into heart.
Hope doing samba and Nancy doing jive….I’m actually hoping Nancy does a good jive
If Hope does an “oily” samba as Len called Kirstie’s last season….she may get 8s and be safe yet another week….sigh
Okay, I don’t know why this bothers me, but I find it interesting that Mark felt the need to tweet the other night that he was “hanging out with his homie @Maksimc”….hmm? Since when do they hang out?
Yikes Samba for Hope. Eck. If she couldn’t Rumba, I think her Samba will be more of a train wreck plus 2 dance. I predict a meldown.
Ok, I understand a lot of people may not be fans of Hope Solo, and may not particularly like her dancing. I also understand that not many people here probably follow athletics.
What I don’t understand are all the MEAN comments about her and her possible ability with a dance or success on this show.
When Hope steps out on a soccer field, she wears a jersey with the United States on it. She represents our country in competition at the top level! She is a US athlete! Where is your respect????
Good Lord!
This summer Hope will be in goal with a US jersey representing the United States and going for another gold medal.
I don’t think anybody here will be playing in the Olympics this summer, am I right? All I’m saying is that she DESERVES respect and not people hating on her and hoping she doesn’t succeed at EVERY SINGLE CHANCE THEY GET.
Did Apolo, Evan, Kristie, or Natalie C. get treated like this? Even if she is not as good, I would imagine you would show some respect for a United States athlete!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow.
Sorry, but, they didn’t have a questionable attitude and arrogant issues like Hope does. They also didn’t have fans going on about her that turned fans off of her either like you constantly do here?
Truth is Hope’s not transforming as a dancer. I didn’t watch season 9 when Natalie was on but Apolo, Evan and Kristi were actually graceful dancers. What her accomplishments on the soccer field has nothing to do with her dancing.
Hope is not a good dancer – comparing her with other Olympians is ludicrous. You don’t get yor ass kissed just because you were in the Olympics.. She is being treated like any other poor dancer before her. None of the judges have called her names, they’ve given their opinions. MAKS has called her names AND he said he was starting to lose faith in her – watch the damn video again.
Chaz is the only person on the show with serious reason to complain. The rest of it is same song, different day.
I’m starting to feel like sasa – some are very conveniently ignoring a bunch of facts, not to mention wacky double standards.
That’s because they can like no one other than maks, sandy.
I think he shoots people for that.
Up to this week, I liked the whole cast. Not so much anymore.
If ricki goes out before the final, all my votes go to JR.
Soccer, just go away. You’ve demonstrated that you’re incapable of tolerating differing opinions and can’t let a day go by without writing a novel about how Hope is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I’m tired of it; if you think we’re sooooo disrespectful around here, then why do you keep coming back?
I don’t give a rat’s ass whether Hope plays soccer for the US or turns tricks down on the corner. The girl can’t dance. That isn’t “mean”; that’s the truth. And when you’re on a dancing show, it isn’t out-of-line to point that out. Hypersensitive much?
Because, sherry, the boy who got two talented Olympians, Bristol and chelsea Kane also is jealous of Derek. No long term memory, that boy. He and maks boggle the mind – they’ve both been as blessed as Derek, but they are so filled with envy that they’ve lost sight of that. Maks more so than mark – apparently the only thing that counts to him is winning. He really kind of dissed all his previous partners with his tirades.
Without a doubt, Hope deserves respect on the soccer field. Indeed, the judges can be very mean spirited in their comments, and their scoring is often whack. It is true, Hope is an awkward mover on the dance floor. But, she has not been singled out – not on the show, not on this board. Yes, Natalie C. received the same kind of comments about being too stiff and awkward, and she had to dance with stone cold Alec.
She has put Women’s Soccer on the front page …mission accomplished. As far as DWTS, however, I see little hope for Hope. At this point, she must be so unsure of herself – between judges comments, Maks disillusionment, and the public uproar I’m guessing the poor girl no longer knows her right hand from her left.
Oh man, please don’t let either JR or Ricki pay a price for this. They both deserve to be in the finals, and while I have a slight or slightly bigger than slight current preference for a JR win, I really like Ricki too and wouldn’t be sad if she won. In addition to the fact that she’s dancing well, I really love her charity support as a part of me will always belong in Malawi. Maybe I should start splitting my votes???
Sure seems to me like it’s time for some “planned replacement” of the pro dancer pool. After 13 seasons, there’s too much “history” between this bunch. I don’t want to lose Derek but I think he’s got way better things to do, and I feel Mark and Maks ought to call it quits for other reasons. So how about replacing them with Tristan, Damian, and Val (I’m willing to give the other Chmerkovskiy a try). On the distaff side, I’d swap Lacey (and Cheryl if she’s tired of doing the show) for Peta and Chelsie.
jess, I agree with you 100%, but please listen to Princess Heidi — do not split your votes.
I think Dwts will have trouble getting celebrities to dance on their show, if they keep these judges. I think if the current judges want to stay, they should judge and not condem.
Wow, the responses here are crazy! Clearly not many here who have an idea or can even at least try to understand what playing for your country means.
I never said Hope is going to win this competition, or that she’s that good of a dancer to do so.
I was saying that the comments about her that are so just wanting her to not succeed are sad. She’s a US athlete and it’s sad that you people disrespect her with every post you write.
Voguerista, you clearly do not follow Apolo or other’s careers.
Hope has had her not so great moments on this show, just like everybody else. Other than that, she has been a friendly person on the show.
Courtney, Wow. I respect other people’s opinions, I just think a lot of the comments here are very disrespectful towards a woman that plays for our country and I just can’t understand that.
There’s a certain amount of respect that should be given because someone has already earned it because of who they are or what they do or have done. United States athletes qualify as those people.
Soccer, you clearly are intolerant of other people’s opinions other than your own. Please stop trying to insist we like Hope for whatever reasons. You are just making it worse for her by doing so.
Again, Soccer, I reiterate: JUST GO AWAY. You’re like a broken record – it’s like you didn’t even read anyone else’s comments, and just came right back with “Hope deserves respect because she’s a US athlete, blah blah blah”. I don’t even see where anyone’s being particularly “disrespectful” – again, everyone’s saying pretty much the same damn thing: HOPE CANNOT DANCE. I’m starting to think you just can’t stand the thought of anyone saying anything remotely negative about Hope. We get it, you love Hope – that’s fine. But don’t try and force it on us – because the more you do, the more I wish she’d get sent home just so I don’t have to hear you prattling on about how great she is day after day and how poor little Hope is not getting treated fairly on the show and how we’re all a bunch of disrespectful turds for not loving her like you do.
You know what? I’m closing comments on this thread. Everyone needs a proverbial cold shower and a break from Maksgate 2K11.
